Impeach!
impeach now!!
I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes to jump into the lake. I got worried that I wouldn’t make the zed when my cat jumped on me lap. But he is happy now. No butts in the face or screen.

War crimes trials.
Baby, I’m an anarchist! that’s fun to type..)
yeah impeach
but i also have to post a recipe for sadlyyes. hope y’all don’t mind
oooh that too
Some day, I’ll be able to see YouTubes again. Unfortunately, real anarchists don’t use Flashmedia.
From earlier comment seeing as all of you seem to want to Impeach these sorry excuses for OUR leaders you can at least sign the latest drive to Impeach both of then at once! Oh boy hope Nancy sees this!
By all means!
Thanks! I spent the time Google talking with Betsy. She’s starting to make quite a name for herself in the blogosphere.
Digg
Al right Nero you beat me to it! I digg it are you going to??
I need to upgrade to a faster processor.
Or somehow bribe those enn ess aaa guys to quit parking their truck on my toobz!
I take it then that the democrats.com site has nothing to do with the Democratic Party?
John McCain supports and enables President Bush’s policy of torturing human beings.
Even though he has good reason to know better.
John McCain:
Worse than Bush
That made me laugh out loud, before I sighed.
Hard refresh everybody, and neurophius’ Digg is fixed.
i hear they are real partial to donuts… i’m just saying
Was there a link in that, nahant?
it’s all for the good of the Lake and our fabulous posters!
Not really they are
the Aggressive progressives!
in response to nahant at 16
Or just use my link to Neuro digg
I had the same reaction, minus the laughing.
You have that right we all want to support them,,, they are the best!!! :>)
McCain tortured? Maybe yes, maybe no, I mean he says he was tortured but who’s to know?… we give the facts, you decide.
I did experience a little difficulty digging–thought I was all done and got back here and the digg didn’t show up–went back and did the whole process again and it took that time…
sorry had to deal wit some loud kids outside
Thanks nahant.. signed with additional note ans submitted.
Not in my 12 but my 16 here it is again DIGG
Hey Eureka, I just saw that your hometown/namesake is slated to become the next San Francisco! Oooh scary! Are you doing anything about it?
Lemon Cookies (Vegan)
Ingredients
1 cup cashews, soaked for 4 hours
zest of 1 lemon
½ cup fresh lemon juice, (approximately 2 lemons)
1 cup dry shredded coconut
¼ cup agave
Preparation
Process cashews in food processor until they are pasty in consistency.
Mix in all other ingredients.
Place 1 tablespoon cookie dollops on a dehydrator sheet.
Dehydrate for approximately 12 hours at 105°F (could also dehydrate at 115°F for 8-10 hours with similar result).
Can someone explain the latest Obama controversy to me? His use of the word “bitter” is being characterized as “elitist” and “Marxist”. I have to say I’m impressed. When will they get around to calling him a Communist Nazi?
well, let’s say that he was, then it would take a pretty mean spirit to wish the same on others.
including our own military servicepeople, if we cannot support international law standards meant to protect our people as much as anyone else’s.
you’d think he would understand this.
I think he does. But for McBush, political expediency and personal ambition rule over all.
Digg don’t dig me, either – cleaned out the cookies (mmm…crumbs), upgraded the browser (Bessie got an udder job?)….
nothing. Still the spinning wheel of Diggdeath every time I try…
sigh
[I wanna go back to Firefox 1.5 - at least it let me open new pages from linkies…]
Maybe he was in cahoots with the NVA? Is that your theory?
Wow.
Real anarchists don’t digg, unless no one else does. We do like lemon cookies, though.
FrankProbst – good to see you ’round the Lake… :)
teehee, I always thought anarchist were suckers for lemon cookies…
Apparently, presidential candidates–if they are Democrats–are not allowed to point out that some Americans are “bitter” about their circumstances.
Even if they really are.
It’s just not permitted.
citrus – fights the sugar coat of conformity.
power to the pulpers!
It’s been going on for years.. last weekend was one of our three per year diversity weekends.. The fundie goobers showed up as usual. We kill them with kindness and ridicule for the most part, very effectively.
I do worry about that whacko violent nut-case showing up someday.. especially with all the new found DVD and internet attention.
Someone made an interesting observation on their out of state blog while visiting during diversity weekend.. ES has no gay bars… we all party together and its a great loving community.. I don’t think anyone ever tried to open a gay bar here… which would have plenty customer base if they wanted to try. i thought that was very telling.
Not sure I get the Marxist thing, but the “elitist” thing is sorta understandable. The charge, if I can call it that, is that he’s a rich city boy who thinks that all the folks out there in the boonies are just gun nuts and religious fanatics. Or something like that.
Of course, this might actually be true, but I didn’t get that out of the quotes I’ve seen. He seemed to be implying that this was something that happens out there, not that it’s the only thing that happens. It reminded me of the theme of “What’s Wrong With Kansas?”, that book about how conservatives are winning over the Midwest because they think neither party really gives a crap about their economic future.
ES her is my note to congress: Impeachment should have been started long ago. We the people are telling you you must Impeach now before they start giving out pardons. They have committed War crimes and yet Impeachment has not occurred. If you do nothing then you are also complicit and can be tried for War crimes!
I don’t really have a theory, it’s just in this political arena where everything is “fair game” I feel we should investigate all claims by candidates. Although I have read some cool theories that McCain started the Forrestal fire..
Media punditry are completely out of material.. unless they want to focus on substance like President YooSA torturing or go back to Bills festering on the Bosnia defense. And Hillary is playing with the well paid GOPer pundit lines.. so they love her for it right now.
If the Dem candidates go for “bitter”, guess McCain’s got “tart” nailed.
He didn’t grow up rich.
And he hasn’t made 107 million dollars in the past 7 years.
sour grapes make the tart tart
groan. you’ve out punaised punaise. /g
I said something like .. Please read your oath of office and tell me why you are not conducting all night hearings and investigations right now etc…
I just downloaded Safari, it’s interesting to say the least! I want to know if I can import my bookmarks from FF into Safari…!
If you can find the location on the hard disk where “bookmarks.html” in the Firefox folder is located, then yes.
how sweet of you…
FF bookmark movements are a pain!
Ummmm… yeah
Fox-Lax?
Could ya meet me on FB, Newt?
*sigh*
what new outrage will be uncovered today?
Fox-trot.
That does it! I am calling in the pun police.
sure
Cool!
These kind of messages need to be drilled into their heads until they get right and Impeach them!
hahaha
He was well off by the standards of a lot of people, and he went to Harvard. He’s also made quite a bit of money in the last few years. The difference between what he’s made and what the Clintons have made is a trifle academic.
War criminal proceedings too. Which I mentioned as well..)
oh no! not the pun police! where no pun has gone before
I’ve been lurking more than posting lately. :)
Who running for any office today is not well off? That seems to be required. Sort of a new form of nobless oblige.
dugg your music, es.
I thought I might get you riled up on that one. /s
I’ve written more than once that there’s a substantial difference between the political class and the rest of us, at least at the Federal level. It’s maybe part nobless oblige, part practicality. If you’re not rich enough to spend months or years ignoring your job to pursue politics, it’s a lot less likely you’ll be able to do it. It’s also less likely you’ll be able to finance your own campaign.
They will be held for those when they are out of office and step into most other countries, except for Paraguay of course!
this is the blog. FireDogLake. Every 60 seconds, a pun is committed. etc….
I have a question in re an item in the newsbox.. maybe someone here knows about the OAS, is it a decent organization? I have friend who just returned from Peru and Bolivia… Evo Morales is under a lot of pressure from some nasty elements in his neighborhood… but gives a lot of hope to folks who have only known oppression for centuries.
Per Scott Horton @ Harpers
The Baghdad Command has decided to acede to the directions of the Iraqi Judicial Commission, which, as noted last week, cleared Pulitzer Prize winning AP photojournalist Bilal Hussein of the charges leveled against him. He will be set free in Baghdad on Wednesday, April 16.
oh, this is tooo much:
Report: “McCain Family Recipes” Cribbed From The Food Network
Thanks.. his PSA is rather provocative too.
well off? where? not in hawaii
More than a trifle, I would think…but in any event, I don’t see where the $107 million dollar woman gets off calling him elitist…nor would McBush have much grounds for doing so
there is an article in the news box about his being freed along with another journalist.
For some reason I can’t get the linky thingy to work for me, so I have just copied this from the article. Will Bunch asked Obama if he would go after lawbreakers in the Executive branch. Here is the meat of the article:
missed that!
Agreed, Bill and Hill can loan their campaign 5 million (one Columbian free trade deal for Bill).. The Obamas don’t make that much in a few years.
Quite a bit of money? The man is only worth a million dollars. That is barely minimum wage by the standards of your average ceo. Harvard, yes. not by way of money but by way of hard work. He is not wealthy. He is unique, special, a common man with a heart and a brain. He will have bootstrapped his way to the presidency.
a very reasoned answer. of course the revolutionist in me wanted to read, “Hell yes”
not a problem. i had heard he was released and was surprised to see the article that said 2 were freed.
Since when does how much money you have determine how elitist you are? I heard and read this same sort of crap about Edwards – he’s so rich, how can he possibly care about the poor?
Whether Obama is elitist, or whether he’s more or less elitist than Clinton has only a little to do with net worths and a whole lot to do with attitudes.
Which, BTW, is the whole reason I don’t put much stock in any charges of elitism from any quarter. It’s too much like mind reading as far as I’m concerned, and something best left to the sort of raving idiots who think they can read minds of people they don’t even know.
This NYT story certainly needs some comments from the Lakers.
Now I see why the media covers for the Bush administration spying! Bastards!

Newspapers Argue for First Amendment Right to Snoop on Readers
By Saul Hansell
Usually, when people talk about the trade offs between privacy and freedom of the press, the argument is about whether the public has the right to know some fact about an individual’s personal life.
The newspaper industry is now arguing that the First Amendment protects its right to follow users around the Internet so it can charge higher prices on advertising.
http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/…..ent-164615
can Harry Reid please strip lieberwhats-his-face of his assignments and tell him to kick rocks? or better yet, can we replace harry?
Careful. The way things are going in the senate they would replace him with Liebereunuch.
i’m not certain about the current make-up of the OAS, but (IIRC) in her oophanal book Cry of The People – Penny Lernoux traced the OAS’ origins as Washington’s tool in the great resource grab we called the Cold War.
Sure agree with you about the nasties Morales faces – teh oligarchs’ local servants after losing national power to the “brown people” they’d been sitting on for the last few centuries. The oligarchs, of course, are the power in the “renegade” provinces.
[Hmmm - if the OAS is even-handed, perhaps they’ll come to Ecotopia and “mediate” our disputes with Ahhnuld, America’s oligarchs, and the Bush Reich. I’m happy to show ‘em the way to Bolinas!
In the meantime, I’m not entirely reassured the OAS is there to support Morales as chief of state.
On the bright side, perhaps they’ll support me as Ecotopia’s UN Ambassador…
] *g*
Joe Lieberman’s continued enjoyment of privileges and courtesies from the Senate Democratic majority will go down in history as Harry Reid’s pathetic legacy.
My contempt for Joe Lieberman knows no bounds.
And I don’t have a lot of warm feelings toward Harry Reid.
Me too. I wonder what Hillary would say?
Also from Harpers and Ken Silverstein some links that McSame needs to be asked about very publicly
2000 – $0.24M
2001 – $0.27M
2002 – $0.26M
2003 – $0.24M
2004 – $0.21M

OK gang. Time for me to turn in. I have a whole day with no scheduled stuff, so I hope to get some real work done for a change. See you tomorrow.
I don’t know but i would love to hear her answer
But he’s so moderate!
boa noite, gnome
g’nite gnome
both of them are asshats
g’nite, gnome. happy garden trails to you.
Hmmmm Sounds like the shock doctors.. Paging Naomi Klein. *g
FORK! i missed the first 10 minutes of TDS
nah, my parents (both drs) made more than that in six years but are totally DFH, revolutionaries, etc. They could tell you how much a loaf of bread costs, etc.
G’ nite Gnome
Goodnight, gnome.
It’s time for me to head out, too. I’ll plug my latest essay, and bid you an adieu.
Damnit! Me, too.
Thanks, Suz!
How trifle? Name a percentage, please.
I’m getting the fundraiser for autism, not TDS.
g’nite cujo
boa noite, cujo
I’ll go have a lok at your essay
I’m coming in late, but I like how you talk. Investigate. Interrogate. Impeach. Indict. Convict. Incarcerate. Let’s bring ‘em to justice.
I still claim that these amounts of money are not unreasonable by today’s standards particularly considering that he did not come from vast wealth.
Since I have not read all of the comments I am not sure what you point is.
They were well off by the standards I’m familiar with personally.
Yet, as you say, they weren’t elitists, or at least they had some sense of perspective about their own place in the world. Like I wrote at 93 or thereabouts, it isn’t just the money that makes you an elitist – it’s the attitude.
If it takes til the end of my days, my laser sharp focus on these imperatives will never waver my friend.
Has anyone used this metaphor yet? – McCain is the tunnel at the end of the tunnel…..
Neither did Bill Clinton – that didn’t stop people from calling him an elitist.
Now, I really must go. Goodnight, all.
g’ nite Cujo.. always good to see you.
I never thought Bill Clinton was an elitist. I thought he was careless. I thought he was brilliant. I didn’t like him until the repugs tried to get him. I thought he was far too conservative. Now I am back to not liking him.
And I like Edwards far better than any of them.
g’nite, cujo
g’nite, pups – and i formally withdraw my aspiration (deep breath here) to be Ecotopia’s Ambassador to the UN.
[see - i’m “misspoking” already! i’m a natural…]
pardon the volte-face, but my true goal is: Ecotopia’s Ambassador to the EU.
Vive la frites!
(now i’m off to go check the solar cells on the bluff….
and dream of Vera for Prez)
FWIW: Protecting the American people is nowhere in the president’s job description. But both congress and the president take an oath to protect the constitution. And the president has a duty to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed,” Senators swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” !
I still miss Kucinich most of all.. Regret Dodd not getting more attention (at least).. hope Edwards is placed in charge Homeland Security or Labor.. and am thrilled Obama is beating the DLC wing of our party with class and integrity.
I want Scott Horton for AG.
gotcha. great essay BTW. I left a comment
boa noite, kirk
g’nite kirk
Okay pups, time for a chapter and then bed.
Sleep well
Exactly! it’s the first measure one should take when considering reelecting anyone above dog-catcher.
John Edwards, of all successful people, is no elitist.
Two Americas.
Customer calling and I have to be there bright and early so I will say keep up the work of the just and good night all you firepups. May all of our aspirations for these war criminals to have JUSTICE put them where they belong.
Night!!
g’nite wobbly
g’nite nahant
Dooood!
Per attytood at Dkos:
Damn! I sure as hell hope so. I was so diasppointed when Chris Dodd, whose father was a prosecutor at Nuremberg, said he’d not prosecute. Dodd even recently published his fathers letters from Nuremberg. I was devastated. I couldn’t believe it!
~~~ModNote: For future reference, please use a shorter excerpt when linking outside Firedoglake. Thanks.~~~
Dem Debate Wed. night.
it’s almost impossible to believe Dodd wouldn’t prosecute.. even though he said so himself.
saw a 2006 pbs show last night (or maybe night before) that was a recap of the trials at nuremberg. dodd was in it talking about his dad.
Sorry I missed it.
That man was so justifiably proud of his father’s work at Nuremberg. But he still couldn’t bring himself to consider prosecution. Why? Why? Why?
it was a rerun of a show that i remember there being discussion about in the comments when it aired originally. bet it is on the pbs site… it was an american experience show
There is an old boy who was a Nuremberg prosecutor who is still around and kicking ass: Ben Ferencz: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Ferencz
FDL should have him in for a book salon or something. I heard him on a radio interview about two years ago, and he’s great.
es, here is the pbs site for that episode of the a/e show
Suz, the part where Jackson delivers the 4 hour opening of the case was impressive. I knew he was an Associate Supreme, and a USA before that, but I had forgotten his part at Nuremberg.
I went out looking over the flood water damage in our area a couple of days ago.. and my favorite old wooden suspension bridge is still underwater!! here is a couple of photos. Note that bridge is usually 60 feet above the water.
Wonderful idea!
Wow!
I’d call that impressive, but it’s just plain scary.
I imagine there is quite a bit of excellent ag land under there, no?
dayam
Hey, Dood!
Suz, you might enjoy the title of my latest post; “Brother, can you spare a Trillion?” ;-)
That bridge is old.. We have been fighting its demise /replacement with a wide paved job for years.. It’s about 4 miles below an 1100 foot damn which has had its flood gates open wide for weeks now. The water is that high this year !! most years the flood gates aren’t opened at all.. ten years without use wouldn’t be considered unusual.
Not really farming area.. these are rocky ozark mountains and river or lake homes.
i do, ct (rubbing hands together gleefully) i’ll be reading it when i’m done here at the lake.
Reminds me of William Proxmire: “A trilliion here, a trillion there, and pretty soon you’re starting to talk real money.” (Okay, yes, he said “billion,” but you get the idea.)
Anybody know of enlightening discussion/analysis in left blogistan re: Blogger Protection Act of 2008? Can’t seem to find discussion other than at right wing and unknown (to me) sites.
Have tried FDL and Kos searches without result. Tough to structure searches that don’t come back with either nada or hundreds of hits.
And the people who don’t get that are elitist, but nobody calls them that. Rather, they are called “hard headed”, “bottom-line conscious”, “serious” business men.
I refer to the pathetic accounting of the Pentagon, and, it’s big money…! 8-(
ok pups, i’m headed out. g’nite all.
nite suzanne
Aloha, Suz!
Among other things, yes. *g
G’ nite Suzanne
We had a lovely old wooden bridge, one of the few left in the state. It obstructed major development in a prime area.
It mysteriously caught fire and was a total loss.
Hitting the wall myself..
Adios for now, firepups
nite eureka
i guess its me and tuttle working on Safari
If you’ve got a spare 80 minutes, or actually any fraction thereof, you might be interested to watch/listen to this video exchange between Glenn Greenwald and Meghan McArdle of the Atlantic: http://bloggingheads.tv/diavlogs/10187
IMHO, you’ll get the picture within realtively few minutes.
Thanks much!
Watching now.
Impeach…An investigation into alleged high crimes and misdameanors…prejudgement is not an option…the investigation uncovers the obstruction and cover ups…so let the American voters know what Bushco has done…Transparency. Impeach or wallow in the mire and light the of Freedom’s funeral pyres.
And just for the hellofit, there’s a little Ann Althouse and Jeralyn Merritt chat farther down.
But I am incapable of getting drunk enough to watch it.
Dooood! Jeralyn is usually very good, but Althouse is a nutcase.
I wallowed in Watergate, and I’m ready for more. Bring ‘em on! I want an impeachment inquiry, and I want it now. And, tomorrow, I want an “Independent Counsel,” a kick-ass independent counsel, the kind that has you running, crying to your mommy. That kind of kick-ass counsel.
Yeah. Maybe I should said half-drunk.
Jeralyn has some very good moments.
Compromise is one thing appeasement is another. So many law violations pick your flavor. Over at EM I read a lot of parsing over would he or won’t he prosecute (Obama). It is the U.S.Congress’s responsibility to oversee the Executive, not someone who is running for the office. Not any presidential candidate…it is a clear dodge to look for anything other than Impeachment. It a way to wiggle out of holding the Bush administration
responsible for their action and inactions in regard to the perp Osama Bin Laden. Cherry picking and misleading Congress and America to believe Iraq was the author of 9/11. Attacking a nation that we were holding hostage with no fly zones and sanctions. And not least lying about capturing people aim in a defenseless position and turturing and murdering 108 people without a trial or any presentation of evidence. This is Un American. Outing our secret agents is treason. Katrina?
I hear you, and feel that Obama is the most likely to prosecute, which is why he has my support.
I’m fading fast. G’nite all.
nite wigwam
i’m on the scram, too
