On the YouTube page I found a link to Improv Everywhere:
A little league baseball game is turned into a major league event. All players, coaches, and parents do not know what is happening. We worked with the league commissioner to get the kids’ names and access to the field to setup our equipment the morning of the game. He was the only one in on it. NBC Sports worked with us and got us the jumbotron and the blimp.
This is one of over 70 different missions Improv Everywhere has executed over the past six years in New York City. Others include Frozen Grand Central, the Best Buy uniform prank, and the famous U2 Rooftop Hoax, to name a few. Visit the website to see tons of photos and video of all of our work, including behind the scenes information on how this video was made.

Happy Birthday, Tex
Feliz aniversário TexBetsy!!
So?
Suzanne!
Happy Birthday Betsy!
dugg
Oh, and Feliz aniversário to Thomas Jefferson. I’m sure he’s spinning as we speak
thanks y’all!
A group of my 8th graders once wanted to know my birthday. So I told them I share a birthday with Thom Jefferson and they should figure it out. (Before internet in schools.) So a few of the kids went to the library to look it up. They came back and very excitedly reported to the class that I was born in 1743. Ummmmm…. hmmmmm….
what a great video!
lmao. hysterical. What an honor to share a birthday with Jefferson. One of the greatest assholes in political history (no, not the biggest asshole in political history)has a birthday the day after mine.
geez, i was wondering when anyone was gonna notice it. thanks tex
a memory those kids are gonna carry the rest of their lives.
Ha! Ha! Bon anniversaire, ma chere (choose any diacritics I can’t put in on my keyboard). Hiya Tex!
So it’s not Barbara Bush…
hi christine!
teehee
Pravda and Tass were never so compliant as the U.S. press, and they were much less dangerous, because no Soviet citizen was so stupid as to believe them.
Big kisses dear (French style, of course).
Heh, I was way-laid by the Neillson survey again…!
If McCain wants victory in Iraq, he should run for president of Iraq.
Hey Suze, how go the wedding preparations? You doin ok?
haven’t we inflicted enough on these people already?
got The Mother Of The Bride gown today along with a really sexy pair of silver strappy high heels that are comfortable
Just linked to Cassie’s blog. American Teen Brings the Focus to Iraqi Teens
Birthday’s over. I’m exhausted. Time to sleep. Night y’all. Remember the wish: A WHOLE PAIN FREE YEAR! (maybe even some pleasure thrown in)
oohh la la.
Can we see?
Speaking of MLB, my Bosox beat the Yanks today, 8-5, to win 2 of 3 game series in Fenway… FTFY!!!
works for me wigwam
pain free year long wishes tex
If John McCain wants to fight them over there so he doesn’t have to fight them over here, he should do just that.
Not brief, but…
FTFY
In our last two elections we (were told we) elected a good-old-boy with whom the press would like to have a beer. How well do you think that has worked out?
bride to be has not emailed me the picture she took with her camera phone. when i get it i’ll link it
boa noite, betsy. may your wish come true.
Hey Pal,
Nice weekend, watching some movies that really made me cry: Lives of Others, and The Good Shepherd.
ummm i swear i’m not throwing poo but this made me chuckle
“The Good Shepherd” knocked my socks off.
The president of the United States of America is a self-admitted war criminal
I’ve seen it twice now, and just hold my breath.
hmmm, not much of a reaction to this video. perhaps i should reconsider my choice of doing a baseball post later this week.
The admission by the president of the United States of America that he’s a war criminal made headlines everywhere in the world except the United States of America.
Loved it, Suz…
Didn’t want to give certain baseball fans a reason to run away with the thread
:-)
The Goodyear Blimp and all! What a rush for those youngsters…! ;-)
I coached little league baseball and soccer from when my kids were in grade school through the beginning of their high school. One of the coolest things I ever experienced.
We did a lot of videos. On one soccer video, and on a video I produced for a boys’ basketball team my son played on, but I didn’t coach, we tried this same sort of thing – fake announcers, trying to make it look big league.
But this video is the best. Good job!
Ya wouldn’t be referring to moi? Would ya…? 8-P
oh ok… well, off topic is the topic – just wanted the sports folks to know that late late nite is sports friendly – yada yada no sports flame wars yada yada civil, etc.
Pravda and Tass were never more compliant than the mainstream American press, and they were far less dangerous, because the Soviet people were never so stupid as to believe them.
is america waking up from the koolaid in time to save america?
God, I hope so.
I’m hoping (against hope) that that is ChimpFatigue, and it’s a foregone conclusion.
But more likely the attitude of our press is, “Oh, that’s Old Europe.”
aww sorry Suz but baseball isn’t my cup of tea. (it’s like watching paint dry for me). i blame my parents. they are elitist mango juice drinking, soccer freaks
Well, in that case…
GO NINERS!
Can you Digg it?
Nah. I thought you were all about puck.
i’m trying to watch this compassion forum but my attention span is not allowing it
thanks nahant and neuro for the diggs :)
The thing I’m obsessing about is that IMHO they must be brought to justice. And, people I respect and admire, Jack Balkin, Marty Lederman, and Glenn Greenwald seem to think that there’s no chance in hell. To put my pants on tomorrow, I have to believe that it is not only possible but likely.
Heh, Football, Hockey, and Baseball, in that order! ;-)
Happy birthday, Betsy
Listen to this
as you read this
and this
and this
OK I’ll stop. ;) Hugs.
Except he may be too stoopid to realize that is what he admitted to.
even experts can be wrong.
i have hope they will. it keeps me fighting. if everyone gives up fighting, they will not be brought to justice.
College lacrosse, British football, golf, in that order.
High heels?!
Tell about the dress.
Yeah! The Dress!
Investigate. Interrogate. Impeach. Indict. Convict. Incarcerate. Bring ‘em to justice!
Speaking of young people and sports – Go WWU Vikings Womens Crew!
Yes, that is ETette being interviewed…
on tv.. gymnastics, diving (natch), and ice skating
in person watching the game: baseball. football not so much.

John McCain supports President Bush’s policy of torturing human beings.
John McCain:
Worse than Bush
Futebol,american football, college basketball
I like Golf only when I’m playing it otherwise it is boring… Do you mean Rugby or Aussie Rules Football?
cool !!!!
sweet!!!
John McCain supports President Bush’s criminal policy of bombing innocent civilians.
John McCain:
Worse than Bush
Sounds beautiful!
John McCain supports President Bush’s illegal occupation of foreign countries.
you know…
I’ve only experienced it on tv, with my son who plays all the time.. he is just 26, but has been playing golf (which his Dad and Mom have never played) since the age of 12.
i’m shocked, shocked i tell you.
this is close to what the shoes look like but in silver leather
any guesses on what the scandal of the week will be?
will it be obama and bitterness?
bush’s casual admission that he approved torture?
a yet to be disclosed scandal?
But every new “leader” needs an example.
From an unlikely source:
The conspiracy of silence scares the shit out of me. I fear we’ve jumped the shark. How can the fourth estate ignore the fact that The President of the United States has confessed that he’s a war criminal? Especially so after his five-year denial of the fact that we commit torture, and now he has admitted to authorizing it five years ago and multiple times since. Is there nothing left of the American sense of justice?
yes
yes
yes
yes
and yes
wait….
no, rather I’ll be plesantly surprised if they talk about bush’s torture admission
denial is a powerful emotion that is hard to overcome. but we must overcome the media’s and their reluctance to admit they were and still are lax in the performance of their duties as the 4th estate.
msm = pillocks
bad people celebrate too.
head hanging in shame
Egads, my stomach is churning listening to Shotgun Hillary Clinton talk about Obama’s “elitism”.
Jeebus.
-G
Also, relax it’s just fascism.
-G
The “media”, if compelled to report these kinds of stories, must fall back on, “We have been investigating this for some time and we are now ready to confirm that…”
This still infant communication device that we play with will advance to the next phase when we figure out how to drive the other MSM’s agenda. Seems right now that we’re trying to bust through the ceiling to get upstairs. We need ladders.
Oh and that Evan Meacham is just sooooooooo serious.

NOW can we impeach?
Prolly not.
Aww, you should click on my name for more links and analysis…! ;-)
I thought the video was hilarious!
fork
i like the idea of everyone calling nancy’s office and asking now that bush has admitted he is a war criminal by authorizing torture, can we PLEASE impeach. we need to be calling her and our congresscritter every day – putting pressure on them to do their forking job now
So, it is my understanding that:
– overland radio/TV transmission (and even cable TV) is a crude and expensive broadcast medium. Satellite, Internet, and podcast are far more powerful and efficient.
– much of the rest of the world has fiber to the apartment, offering hundreds of megabits per second, e.g., Tokyo and Bejing.
– a person with a relatively low budget can set up a TV studio in their office.
So, why can’t the left set up alternative news shows? Already some are doing so but not yet at top resolutions. But things are happening very fast now.
You’re talking about Amy Goodman.
At this stage, we need thousands of “Amy’s” singing in unison.
But OK.
I still think that blog comment warfare is among the effective forms of political activism.
http://www.slowpokecomics.com/…..ctive.html
Now, they must impeach. General Yamasita was executed by the U.S. after WWII for failure to exercise command responsibility to stop war crimes by those he had authority to stop. The members of the House are just as responsibile as Yamashita if they fail to stop GWB via their constitutional power of impeachment.
This group certainly has the skills to take on such and operation.
.well, that is certainly your right to think so
just as it is certainly my right to disagree and wonder why you are here if you think this is such an ineffective method?
Has the MSM gotten around yet to ask John McCain whether he approves of President Bush’s approval of torture?
John McCain:

Thank you.
Fair enough…
I am admin of a political discussion forum and have only deleted personal attacks but not people’s opinions, many of which I disagree with. But I am surprised that since so few of the comments on this thread have had to do with the “topic” that you found my remarks so threatening that you had to delete them.
My view is this: political discussion is a good thing, best kept civil and without censorship. But I also think that as far as detailed issue discussion goes, forums are a better format than blogs.
I have been an infrequent commenter on FDL for some time and a daily reader for 2 years. I posted a recipe once and participated in a late nite discussion another time.
I am not hostile to you, this blog or even the topic. I was just a bit turned off that the comments seemed to become a “chat room” instead of discussion about what was originally posted… which is what I thought was what “comments” are all about. That’s why I posted the link to Jen’s cartoon.
And believe it or not… I have participated in a “Bongothon For Peace”
Kindest regards…
this is the off topic thread, where there is no topic, gonzoid.
additionally, as front pager, i do not moderate my own threads. that is done by the lurking mod.
From the NY Times an article on medical Insurance that needs to be told to every American! We must have UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS!!
snip
“This is an erosion of the traditional concept of insurance,” Mr. Mendelson said. “Those beneficiaries who bear the burden of illness are also bearing the burden of cost.”
And often, patients say, they had no idea that they would be faced with such a situation.
It happened to Robin Steinwand, 53, who has multiple sclerosis.
In January, shortly after Ms. Steinwand renewed her insurance policy with Kaiser Permanente, she went to refill her prescription for Copaxone. She had been insured with Kaiser for 17 years through her husband, a federal employee, and had had no complaints about the coverage.
She had been taking Copaxone since multiple sclerosis was diagnosed in 2000, buying 30 days’ worth of the pills at a time. And even though the drug costs $1,900 a month, Kaiser required only a $20 co-payment.
Not this time. When Ms. Steinwand went to pick up her prescription at a pharmacy near her home in Silver Spring, Md., the pharmacist handed her a bill for $325.
There must be a mistake, Ms. Steinwand said. So the pharmacist checked with her supervisor. The new price was correct. Kaiser’s policy had changed. Now Kaiser was charging 25 percent of the cost of the drug up to a maximum of $325 per prescription. Her annual cost would be $3,900 and unless her insurance changed or the drug dropped in price, it would go on for the rest of her life.
“I charged it, then got into my car and burst into tears,” Ms. Steinwand said.
She needed the drug, she said, because it can slow the course of her disease. And she knew she would just have to pay for it, but it would not be easy.
Time just did a piece on Obama’s mom I think its a game changer and I think Obama needs to start talking about her more now. A single white woman twice divorced who raised two kids on her own while going to college and getting a PH.D.
She did not do it alone her parents helped her and watched Barack, she worked long hours in a jungle.
With a little less than half of all marriages ending in divorce and everyone I know who’s divorced complaining about child support this story will resonate with Americans we all know women in this position.
Well the fact that Barack did get where he is today says allot about his Mom and every Mom who works her but off, tries to go to school, gets stiffed on the child support and has to ask for help from her parents.
In other words look at Barack he is proof that the sacrifice is worth it that anybody’s kid can be President.
Now all Barack has to do is talk about his Mom in public and I think he can get many of the Hilary voters. In fact he should talk about both his parents and all his grandparents whenever he can Hallmark lives for stories like this!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..96003.html
have it all set to post next nahant.
forking sucks
If John McCain were already president, he would have “bomb, bomb, bombed” Iran by now.
John McCain:
Worse than Bush
Good nite, all.
Oh, and I hear his position on health care sucks
All the more reason why my comments which were polite and not personal were relevant to the original topic and off topic as well should not have been deleted. Jeez, I’m not trying to make trouble here, I’m a kindred spirit. I was just cracking a self depreciating joke. I’m just into irony and that’s where I found myself. In a self referential comment about comments in my comment… get it?
ok, i must have missed the snark tag – i thought you were calling us stupid for sitting around the computer and that we should be doing commenter wars with each other.
my apologies for the miscommunication.
No worries… I wouldn’t call anyone stupid. That would be a personal attack and I’d have to edit myself.
Suz this is literally a nuclear weapon unleashed by the major medical insurance companies and the drug companies. Forcing patients to chose between quality of life and life it self… This news to be spread far and wide and used as ammunition against the rethuglian oligarchy. We need to break this party and rein in corporate America. They are forcing all but the rich to chose between life and death for every one not making six figured salaries.
I was satisified to VOTE for which ever Democrat got the nomination but now I can only vote for Obama as I don’t think Hillary would do anything to change what is happening to middle class Americans. I thought things were bad but this bullshit has proven to be the worst thing foisted upon society!
Michael Moore’s “Sicko ” is my dream of a health care plan in the movie the French seem to have the best plan. We need our Presidential candidates to say enough is enough watch the part in Sicko about the French health care plan.
Its cheaper per person we spend more than the French do but we don’t cover everyone and our lifespan’s are dropping, our average height is dropping, but our infant mortality rate is going up.
If we move to the French system even if you already had healthcare you would pay less money through the magic of no more outrageous prices for drugs! No more outrageous CEO salaries. No more insurance middlemen trying to save a buck by collecting your insurance payments and then denying you coverage. Plus no more insurance companies, drug companies etc paying politicians like John McCain to protect their sweet little scam by trying to outlaw getting drugs from Canada.
Perhaps…
But if there is a time in a campaign to be a bit myopic, this is it. PA is the ballgame.
If it doesn’t help him there, he might just leave it be for now.
Good lord. That sounds so awful. It cuts out the incentive for innovation. Where will the risk-takers to to make a profit. The system would collapse without their risk taking. It would be thwarting the unseen hand. Supply and demand would be thrown out of balance. The entire system would become unstable and eventually collapse. The horror! The horror!
it will be the final headline i post tonight and will be at the top of the news box all night, nahant. the day shifters and early morning risers will see it when they come in.
Public.Financed.Elections.
The GOP is aware that its older voters who support them and watch Fox News right? I wonder what the ratio is for higher healthcare costs and death among older people WHO ARE MORE LIKELY TO VOTE GOP.
Talk about stupid after the election if it turns out to be close it will be the big Pharma companies who just cost themselves and John McCain this election.
Talk about Irony
Congress must act immediately to stop this… just how can put a price on life, even one life. As I have commented in the past the rich would just as well let all the little people die rather than have their $$$ help pay for THE POOR and the middle class to have decent medical care… never mind insurance.
We are the only first world country who do not enjoy universal medical care and why… you know why!! It is sick sick that this country has come to this. The shit just keeps on coming and as long as we have corporate lobbying nothing will be done about it…. Vote your pocket book or you WILL not have one!
He might leave it be for now but he needs to do it soon we need the Hilary voters and should not take them for granted.
tis published now nahant – in the news box on the front page
I would love to see him pivot off this stupid attack and make brothers and sisters of all in PA who have every reason to be bitter.
And he needs to do it loudly and proudly, and use his considerable wealth.
He can finish her right there.
Where?
Thanks Suz I will be sending this article in its entirety to all I know… no mater what their political affiliation. As I said every American needs to know what is in store for either themselves or a loved one. This will break the middle class and the American dream will surely disappear!
Here.
Nice Snark funny how we only innovate drugs for cash like Viagra instead of new Malaria drug which we all will need soon thanks to global warming.
Yet despite all this innovation our costs are up, our lifespan’s are down compared to other countries with socialized medicine, Netherlands is now taller than us,infant mortality is up and we STILL PAY MORE MONEY!.
Maybe GOP voters like being Marks…but I hate it when I’m taken!
thanks for getting the link, newton.
I love the NewsBox, Suz!
Next time Obama I think will take a que from Saint Augestine who supposedly said in a loud voice God grant me the Gift of Chasity…and then he whispered just not yet.:)
707!
thanks, it is fun (for a news junkie like me) to be looking for all the stories to put in there.
Yeah I want the exact same tax payer paid for health insurance that John McCain had for his Cancer! I bet he never gets asked do you have insurance or has had his insurance deny him coverage.
bet he did not have co-pays on his medications that equaled or exceeded his monthly mortgage payment either
I just hope that all Americans read the article! Would they want to be faced with such choices… ya go bankrupt and with the change in the bankruptcy law you will not only lose financially but you will pay with your life.
i got your email blast and sent it out to my kin, nahant.
Just a thought but when you get one of those chain letters do a reply all and send them the NY Times article and ask them NOT TO BREAK the chain! And see if you get the chain back… this is one chain letter I would send to everyone in my address book. If you don’t have your health you don’t have a life… sorry for ranting but this hits close to home with me as someday I may have to take one of those Expensive Drugs and I will have to make a choice to take them and live or the alternative :>((
Taxes need to be raised on the rich so they are in the same boat as everyone else and see how quickly this becomes a non issue!!
Thanks Suz I knew you would do something I just hope all the rest of the people who I sent it to have your attitude about it.
Damm can you add hope in there??
I just HOPE… Dang my mind goes faster than my fingers…
I think Ethanol is the next problem, wheat prices and rice are going up whats next potatoes?
“Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif visited the textile town with four ministers, offering bonuses and more investment in the town’s giant factory to placate workers angry over high prices. Prices have risen sharply in Egypt, where 40% of the people live in or near poverty.
Mahalla al-Kobra, on the Nile Delta, has seen a wave of strikes for more than a year, but the anger exploded into rioting on 5-6 April. The fighting continued into 7-8 April as protesters threw petrol bombs at security forces. Police fired tear gas at the crowds.
According to AP, protesters tore down a billboard of President Hosni Mubarak and fought with police in clashes that left one person dead in the worst unrest since Egypt’s 1977 riots over increased bread prices.”
http://www.bi-me.com/main.php?…..&cg=4
Hungry People riot never mind the mess in Iraq there are a lot of American allies with huge populations of poor people who are barely getting by. To prop them up we should give up on ethanol and flood the world market with corn.
Either that or watch a lot of poor countries dissolve during food riots.
Does he pay I thought the tax payers covered it?
Hard refresh and it is adjusted.
Just to lighten up a bit here is something my step-youngest and his girlfriend help do… they are the actors. He is in film school at Chapman in Orange. Ca
wheat, corn and rice have all risen in prices. there is an article in the news box about food prices:
exactly my point. what were his out of pocket expenses for his cancer treatment?
Wheww thanks Lurk :>)

Is Greenspan a Sociopath?
The main characteristic of a sociopath is a disregard for the rights of others. Sociopaths are also unable to conform to what society defines as a normal personality. Antisocial tendencies are a big part of the sociopath’s personality. This pattern usually comes into evidence around the age of 15. If it is not treated, it can develop into adulthood.
Visible symptoms include physical aggression and the inability to hold down a steady job. The sociopath also finds it hard to sustain relationships and shows a lack of regret in his or her actions. A major personality behavior trait is the violation of the rights of others. This can appear as a disregard for the physical or sexual wellbeing of another.
Although these symptoms are all present, they may not always be evident. Research has shown that the sociopath is usually a person with an abundance of charm and wit. He or she may appear friendly and considerate, but these attributes are usually superficial. They are used as a way of blinding the other person to the personal agenda behind the sociopath’s behaviour.
Many people with antisocial personality disorder frequently indulge in alcohol or drug use. They may use these substances heavily as a way of heightening their antisocial personality. The sociopath sometimes sees the world on his or her own terms, as a place of high drama and risky thrills. The sociopath may suffer from low self esteem, and the use of alcohol and drugs is a way to diminish these feelings.
The causes of antisocial personality disorder are thought to be either genetic or environmental. Children who are influenced by antisocial parents may adopt these tendencies. Similarly, role models such as one’s friends or peer group may also influence the behaviour pattern of a sociopath. Antisocial behaviour is more likely to occur in men than in women. About 1% of women have this disorder, while 3% of men are affected by it.
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-sociopath.htm
I agree not exactly what you think you are going to see when you bought your ticket!!
This clip is good how hte hell did they think of this shit??
I thought it was free er paid for by taxpayers. But yeah I see your point we can nail him with this if only the tools in the media would show half the initiative of us unpaid bloggers and commentors in digging up stories and coming up with questions.
Until the politicians have the same kind of medical care and payments as the normal American has I don’t see things changing for the good… the present system won’t change!!
junior on top of the car

Well I have to see a client in the morning and I need to have a clear mind to fix what has been wrought upon their computer… Ato porn and zombies trojans and such!
Good night all you good pups! Hopefully we can make a difference and help make the needed changes to our country which has gone so far astray from what was given to us by our forefathers!!

ALAN GREENSPAN SAYS HE KNEW ABOUT ABUSES IN SUBPRIME LENDING BUT FAILED TO FORSEE THEIR PARALYZING MARKET EFFECTS UNTIL LATE 2005 – “60 MINUTES” SUNDAY
http://blogs.wsj.com/economics…..interview/
Wrong after 9/11 Enron which had gotten a lot of bank loans by putting its own stock as collateral got calls from the banks asking for more stock as collateral because even 6 months after 9/11 the stock price was down.
In other words when you borrow more than you have and the price of either or both the thing you borrowed to buy or the collateral you used to borrow in the first place goes down your screwed.
Because the Bank will ask for more collateral but you borrowed more than you have.
Despite the risk of a repeat of Enron Greenspan like a blackjack player with a system thought that this time a housing bubble based on a ponzi scheme of ever increasing housing prices would work this time.
“Many people with antisocial personality disorder frequently indulge in alcohol or drug use. They may use these substances heavily as a way of heightening their antisocial personality.”
I’m thinking that between Greenspan and Bush Gambling should be added to Drinking and Drug use “as a way of heightening their antisocial personality.”
It seems they both get off on risking other people’s money and lives and not getting caught or held accountable.
Good Night All!
“The main characteristic of a sociopath is a disregard for the rights of others.”
“and shows a lack of regret in his or her actions. A major personality behavior trait is the violation of the rights of others. This can appear as a disregard for the physical or sexual wellbeing of another.”
Notice Greenspan says not word one about helping people although to be fair he is all for saving the financial system from meltdown.
Greenspan is all about protecting his reputation in his universe he is number one other people are just decorations in his reality. He is claiming that he couldn’t forsee what would happen even though it had just happened before as I point out in my comment @165.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Albert Einstein,
http://www.quotationspage.com/…..Einstein/3
I think we won on the General Petraeus testimony sure Bush got to keep his war going at least until the end of his Presidency. That means he keeps all the blame for history unless the next President is dumb enough to keep troops there.
This war will make Bush famous its like loosing Viet Nam and causing a 70’s sized economic crash.
People will look at everything Bush has done and fairly or unfairly judge that if Bush was for it it must be bad.
General Petraeus’s job was to come up with a plan that could with a minimal amount of time and effort give us a win in Iraq.
Selling more of the same Friedman Units of progress isn’t going to satisfy voters and save John McCain. So barring a miracle like all the Iraqi’s see the Virgin of Guadalupe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Lady_of_Guadalupe
And decide to convert to Born Again Catholics.
Then the war will not be won in time to save John. That and the cost of the war will be paid for by the people who lied us into this war that is if the Blogs have anything to say about it.
