This outrage is comical in that pretty much all the right blogosphere does is endlessly screech out irrational political resentments centering around God & guns & Arabs & gays & immigrants. And, of course, liberals. Which explains all the hysterical wingnut squawking over Obama's "gaffe" -- it'd be pretty bad for GOP business if vicious scapegoating ever went out of style. It's all they have: if they didn't have "bitterness," they wouldn't have squat. The Right blog dingleberries would no longer be scary clowns -- just creepy and pathetic clowns, which, uh, they also happen to be at the moment...
As Roy Edroso says, if the prospect of even a semi-honest national dialogue on race freaked them out, the prospect of a national dialogue on class makes them even squirmier. Hence all the race, rube, and red baiting. I mean, come on. The party of Rush & Rove whining about someone saying people are "bitter"? Sheesh.
The delightful cherry? Via Oliver Willis, David Sirota shows that McCain's said the same stuff he's now going after Obama for, only smarmier. And on top of that, McCain really and for true does too want 100 years or more of war in Iraq -- but in that case, the wingnuts scream "context!" and the media thoughtfully decides to give it to them, even though the "context" makes it worse. Because everyone knows McCain's not insane! Unless you're so gauche and ill-bred as to actually pay attention to the crazy shit that constantly comes out of his mouth.
Crap.

Thers, Aloha!
crap!
So?
Sew buttons!
Check this out. I’m telling ya it has legs…!
Seems like a slow night at the Lake…
Pelosi, Dean, and now Carter and Gore… It’s time to get down to brass tacks and concentrate on McInsane…!
…and HRC says he’s “out of touch”
Huh?
If you’re not bitter, or at least a little pissed off, then you’re not paying attention.
Aloha, Suz! How’s things amidst the redwoods tonite?
first day here that felt like spring.. we hit 92 and the motorcyles were roaring past all day. lots of pups taking advantage of the fine day is my guess
…and “turning” to God or your Second Amendment rights is not like turning to something “new”, more like a comfy pair of jeans.
I think we should just run an ad with McShrub’s portrait and the words “insane” in big type, under it. Repeatedly. Maybe then the electorate would actually get it.
Hi Thers! I like the way Obama tackles issues head on. Doesn’t let them simmer, just jumps on them in a really direct way. What a pleasant change.
92! We’re going to get pretty cold tomorrow, back to the 30s…
Dingleberry
Thers! Great post. And I am
not understanding why Obama’s words got framed as a “gaffe”…
Oh wait — it’s cuz the MSM said so. Never mind! /snark
dang, I was trying to use the italics, must have hit the wrong button…
sucks to be where ever you are, thers. but on the plus side, you don’t have the roaring of motorcycles starting at dawn and still going…
That hardly means that lots of people aren’t resentful — when turning to God means hating homosexuals, for instance, or turning to guns means buying into paranoid anti-government “militia” rhetoric.
Aloha, LL! How’s Virginny?
But we sorta do, actually…
double sucks then thers (laughing)
crap
Ah, the 45-second news cycle.
Ain’t it grand!
Aloha CT! It’s changeable here…can’t make up its mind whether it’s spring or late winter. 80 today, 50’s tomorrow, sleet in the afternoon.
True, dat
Reference my last as applying only to the non knuckle-dragging community
Better?
It’s eating their asses up that for all of their digging for months and months, Rev. Wright and this non-issue is all they can find.
So, we’re fed a steady diet of “he’s out of touch” from a guy that owns 8 houses and is worth 100 million, and HRC, who is part of a household that has made 109 million over the last 7 years.
Nonsense. Absolute nonsense.
Heh, move here and you only have two choices; Wet or Dry…! ;-)
but it is so dayam expensive there, ct
SNL with “McCain” and “Petraeus” …
I gets ya. There are more than a few knuckle-draggers, tho.
STTP, nicely said.
CT, I wouldn’t mind either one — as long as I never have to scrape my windshield ever again ;-)
gack…. every word obama says is parsed ad infinitum!!! meantime mcinsane goes merrily along….
Heh, ya always have to rain on my parade, eh? *g*
If you didn’t see this this morning….
Billboards just put up around Phoenix AZ…. around 14 of them across the valley…..
KPHX Billboards
Oh so thats what it means /s
Just driving by for a check in.
Thers wingnutia at its best great post!
Oh ya digg it!
We tend to be outnumbered by them. A few can think though, when they make the effort. The fun part is figuring out how to make them do so!
juslin, yep — and they won’t ever call out McSame for his blunders and mis-statements.
That is outstanding!
Thanks for making my evening, katymine!
sweet!!!
dugg, thanks, nahant
I’m in one of those little Rust Belt towns.
Bitterness, we got that on tap, 24/7.
I’ve had people just about bite my head off for asking if they’d like to register to vote.
“You’re either stupid or crazy. They don’t care what we think, they put in whatever suit they want and they don’t count our votes. Do I want to register, Hell NO!”
The press corpse is enamored with his ribs…! ;-)
I love it!
Clearchannel is allowing that…? I’m flabbergasted…!
I love it!
Kuhl!
That billboard is a high traffic intersection …. see we talk about McBush… we get progressive radio hooked and we are pushing the message out to the general public… and it is NOW being seen by Joe Sixpack…
Bummer. You’d think they’d REALLY want to vote.
Everything Obama said was true with regard to people turning to guns and religion. He needs to go say it again in a small town in Pennsylvania, and take questions/comments.
they came in spaceship klown cars.
Hell yeah, people are bitter! They can’t afford to get sick, food and housing and fuel are going ever higher and wages are not, if you even have a job. This crap is typical traditional media getting it completely wrong, as usual.
If you’re not bitter at this point, you’re just not paying attention!
Mi Mary McC… Whatchoo smokin?
az is taking care of business
I’m in one of the michigan rust belt towns myself. My parents are in a smaller one that has been feeling pinch for years. The bitterness is more palpable there than in Grand Rapids, MI where i live. But the whole state is still seeing factories leave en mass and it’s NOT a good thing. Bitter is putting it mildly…
I tried to register a man one time and he said he didn’t want to because the gov’t had nothing to do with him. I was astounded that someone would not realize that the gov’t has
EVERYTHING to do with them. I also have heard people say “let the gov’t pay for it” not seeming to know that the gov’t has no money - that it’s THEIR money. So unknowing.
*waving white flag of surrender*
me no smoke. me drink.
Hi Margot!
Little town, large town, we’ve got bitterness big time.
I have captured you with strong Klown magic.
Northwest Arkansas… Ignorance is bliss.
well.. I’m going to be pretty bitter if McShrub wins… so I guess this one cuts both ways…
Oh, dear, sorry. American Idol instead?
katymine, I am going to send that billboard to all of my friends. Both of them.
dayam, that means i’ve got the hoodooman blues now
Pretty close to home around the Lake…
I sure had an eye opening weekend trying to get signatures for candidates and registration drives of voters ….. so many were woman telling me….”I don’t vote”…. like I asked them to dance naked….
Arizona has a high rate of divorced people….. it seems to be a place to come after the split and we are the home of the call centers which left in the last few years to India….
As part of my DFA group, it is trying to reach out to those who feel that no matter what they do…. it doesn’t matter…. getting them involved, showing them that actions do have an impact… bitterness…. ya they come here with it
The GOP sure does like to encourage cynicism about the voting process…
Hi Chris! Hi all.
Ah Oh…. Suzanne…. you are going to love this one….. Sheriff Joe has gotten in hot water….
Sheriff Joe goes to Honduras
katymine, are they gonna keep him?
Interesting, I didn’t know that about Phoenix/women/call centers. Show them that the billboard came of political action…
That’s nice!
Friday rain storms, and general greyness here today. Late afternoon with pot of tea and FDL comments…distracted by great movies on HBO including The Good Shepherd and The Lives of Others.
Is that the guy that keeps prisoners in tents?
katymine, I work with some women who don’t vote. One of them told me during the 2004 election that the women in her family have never voted, as if it were a badge of honor or something. Unbelievable.
yeup
Have a great guy running against Sheriff Joe…… his name is Dan Saban who is the chief of Buckeye and quite an eye full….. Dan is so straight an arrow….. my DFA group has endorsed him…
Saban for Sheriff
That freaks me out.
What gets me is, does Hillary have to help with Republicans do their dirty work every single time?
That is why I have become involved with Woman Votes Woman Voices…. www.wvwv.org
I grew up poor and Democrat. My parents said, even if you don’t like anyone, you must vote. Here in my department, there is only one non-voter (male!) among 22 staff.
Just flyin’ by, if this is a repeat, well, bears repeating… a great post up from Jane Smiley over at HuffPo. in the comments there’s mention of a grassroots womenover50forobama site.
Would that your link to the Gore-Carter story does have legs, CTuttle.
I’m sayin’…Audacity of Truth… Obama tells it while Hillary offers more “sniper fire” via the Politics of Screed. Which is right hand in glove with what McCain and the Republicans are only too happy to do.
Chris, freaks me out too!
katymine, thanks for that link. I will keep working on those coworkers of mine.
Maybe they haven’t heard that we finally got the vote.
Clintonism 2008 #2577:
“The enemy of my enemy…”
With pink undies and all…!
One of the ladies from the Obama woman over 50 called Stephanie Miller last week and said that the had T-shirts printed up because they were tired of having people think they were voting for Hillary….just because they are over 50….. This over 50 woman is an Obama Mama….
Mary, sad but true; especially with one particular person. Someone upthread mentioned that ignorance is bliss — that’s this person to a tee.

Maybe there is a slice of justice in this world after all…
feeling helpless and powerless oftentimes leads to a why bother attitude - sometimes it is better to not care and stop trying rather than being shot down for your efforts.
many people i know feel this way. its not just voting, its everything.
LL, I knew one woman at the hospital like that. She voted but it was only with the approval of her husband. They believed that the wife shall submit to the authority of the husband, etc. It is still seen as an unwomanly, unsubmissive thing to do.
She wouldn’t accept a raise that would have her making more a year than her husband. I told her she was hiding her light under a bushel AND burying her talents in the ground! ;)
thanks, in the news box que
I just have this mental image of Hillary surrogates approaching superdelegates, brandishing copies of the National Enquirer. Pointing to stories and saying, “What about this? Surely this convinces you he’s unelectable?”
It doesn’t? Are you sure?
Wait–I’ve got more!
The only job he could ever really get was working with “Ruprecht” Bush.
Suz, I can sort of understand that — wish I could say that it applied to my coworker, but in her case it doesn’t. If it did, it would explain things for me.
I had the thrill and pleasure to meet Molly Ivans in 2005… she was warm and delightful and I learned a lot from her….. she wrote about this but also talked about getting so mad at people who said that they were NOT interested in Politics….. she would ask a set of questions…
-Do you care how much your water bill is?
-Do you care how much that speeding ticket will be?
-Do you care that your child has new text books and a qualified teacher?
That is why in 2004 and in 2006 I talked a lot about talking TO the women who you have contact with….. the checker at the grocery, department store, daycare worker, dry cleaner, manicurist … you get my drift…. ask if they are going to vote…. get them engaged…. make them feel that they too can have the power to make change…
wow Margot! I’m glad you talked with her. Did she get what you were saying?
Wow– thanks!
Maybe women would vote more if they understood that their vote is for their children - better schools, better health care, safe streets, parks to play in, etc.
Maybe Denny Crane could get him a job?
That’s excellent. If I do nothing else during this election season, I’ll be talking to the women I know (and happen to run into), and hopefully making some kind of difference.
I heard her speak at DemocracyFest that year, but never talked to her.
It’s not working very well in North Carolina.
…my 100 was in reply to katymine @95
hey pw
Seems that reputable law firms don’t want to hire war criminals/torturer protectors. Who could have guessed? I’m surprised Bush hasn’t made his life VERY comfortable in order to keep his mouth closed.
I’m sure it was AGAG’s stellar performance while testifying on Capitol Hill that burnished his resume…! ;-)
I thought that we fought this fight in 1970. And won! What a shock to see that in 2000+ we have not.
probably can’t find legal malpractice insurer who would issue abu gonzo a policy
Hay! Any of y’all organizing for PDA?
Renee…. I was there too…. she had that panel discussion out in the tent outside and I found her sitting on the edge of the stage and approached her to get a picture ….. for my mother who was a great fan…. she just took over…. we talked and just impacted me so much….
Anybody working with this group?
http://www.pdamerica.org/
My thoughts too. And I’m surprised some not-so-reputable law firm hasn’t taken him in yet…I hope he has to think long and hard about all of the lying he did and the crimes he covered for this admin. That would be sweet justice.
