Suz!
Hi Suzanne
g’evening pups, how is everyone doing tonight?
Suzanne!
Toons!
Enjoying my every-other-weekend-off here Suz; how goes it out your way?
So correct me if I’m wrong, but if McCain, Obama, and Clinton are tied at about 33% each, doesn’t that mean that the eventual Democratic Candidate will win 66-33%?
Cartoons :>) dang I grew up watching cartoons but it was always in the weekend mornings!!
Oh and no problems digging with firefox….
eh
picture perfect day along the central coast (other than the noise from all them blasted motorcycles roaring up and down the mt roads)
have all the windows open and both sliders open. tis a lovely spring night – currently 58 outside with bright stars in the sky
Good evening dear friends. Hi Suzanne.
now that we be growed-ups, we can watch em any time we wanna nahant.
hey tex, how ya feeling tonight?
thanks nahant
I’m about 50/50 with FF, but Safari gets it every time.
Nice, Suz! Cooling down to 53 here, after a high of 80. There are rumors of sleet tomorrow afternoon.
Oh, and Warner Bros. cartoons rawk. Thanks for this one :-)
not too bad. thanks. you?
thanks for the diggs pups
it’s somebody’s birthday… *g*
doing my best to keep my head in the sand and ignore the world
still almost 2 hours before it is sunday on the left coast
I do not believe for one second that McInsane is anywhere near either of the dem candidates. The primary turnout has been overwhelmingly dem in every single state. I don’t know where this idea comes from but it’s full of absolute crap!
Cute video suzanne. Don’t think I’d ever seen that one before.
Scroll down a little and there is the KPHX billboards…. wahooo
Sunday Talk
Love ALL the graphics.
I’ve had this recurring hope.
Scooter, or Ashcroft, or Addington, or Grossman or Novak or Hannah or Wurmser or Taylor or Sampson or Goodling (or any of the fiends we love to despise) walk into a restaurant with their spouses and children, and people boo and hiss and get up and leave.
We may be about to see this happen. The world seems to be getting the import of all this.
And its my favorite – Gonzo.
Well, There’s always FOX.
Can’t stick around too much longer, so here’s the tune I wanted to share:
The Return Of The Grievous Angel — Gram and Emmylou
thanks tex. i love surfing the utubes, looking for the cartoons – it certainly does test my memory trying to find new old ones. i always seem to find more cartoons than there are saturday nights (laughing).
TexBetsy…. how is TX holding up to the polygamist’s mess?
Drove through Colorado City AZ a year go….. place in the middle of nowhere and HUGE houses…. wonder where they made their income….
I really appreciate those old cartoons. All hand done. No computers…Ahhh.
Plus they’re funny!
aaaahhhh thank you ll. they were so good together
Suz, definitely a flame that was snuffed out too soon :-(
Saw that! Very cool.
thanks, loohoo. how much i laugh is certainly a factor in selecting which toons. although, i must admit, i do have a rather sick and twisted sense of humor and have to try to keep that side in check
They’ve opened up a summer camp and staffed it with therapists and such to help many of the kids and moms from the compound. Looks like it will be rough going.
A good friend of mine works for CPS and has been involved with some of the logistics of where all of those kids are being cared for.
Requesting Betty Boop.
there was way too much publicity for them not to do so, tex. in that respect, it was good that it was covered nationally so that those whose lives have been turned upside down will get help.
find the best one – the one you like best and you think is worthy of being front paged – and email me the link, loohoo.
who cut the cheese?
Same thing here….. the hard part is that the law enforcement people in the area are also a member of the sect which made getting reports of abuse pretty much log jammed…
he who first smelt it dealt it (laughing)
Suzanne sez: ” must admit, i do have a rather sick and twisted sense of humor and have to try to keep that side in check”
please don’t ever deprive us of that, Suzanne!
Yeah, it’s like a whole club of OJs running the country.
I am going to try to make up for some of last night’s lost sleep.
Night all.
pain free sleep wishes tex
be careful what you ask for neuro (laughing)
Sleep well Betsy.
nite betsy
((Tex)) nite.
the slow speed pursuit of the white bronco press coverage is now how our politics are covered.
Nite Betsy, sleep well
one of y’all is bringing the cake tomorrow night, right?
sad, isn’t it? every cough, sniff, right turn and yes, fart, is covered in real time vs. the stuff that really has import in our lives. sigh.
And the masses wonder why Obama says some people are bitter:
Livin’ For The City
Love the cartoon, Suz. I would love to have old cartoons played at the movie theaters before movies, like when I was a kid.
i’m sure the pups will have cake for your birthday tomorrow night.
right pups?
great song, LL
and still timely *sigh*
Yes!
(scurrying to get up early enough to get to the bakery on Sunday)
Right Suz!
me too, and newsreels too. i remember going to the movies as a kid, saw two movies, 2 cartoons and a newsreel, all for 25 cents.
dayam, i’m feeling old
apple pie??? I don’t do cakes :>)…
The more things change, the more they remain the same.
your pie? absoforkinglutely nahant
Did the same in little Wickenberg Arizona…. shocked me that my 25 cents fee doubled when I turned 13… gee felt punished for becoming a teenager
I remember seeing a Pluto cartoon about how to merge onto a California freeway before Mary Poppins. It was really very good. I learned a lot, and it was so funny showing what happened when the people who didn’t pick up enough speed!
whew!!… I do want to wish texbetsy happy birthday and no I won’t ask which one it is >:) I know better than to ask a lady how old/young she is…
Time for me to split, but I leave you all with another favorite tune of mine:
Nick Drake — Northern Sky
For no particular reason other than I love it.
Good night all!
Ok kids…. I’m heading off to bed….. night everyone…. see ya tomorrow…
oh i loved those disney driving cartoons. professor ludwig vonduck (iirc) always did the intro to those on the wonderful world of disney.
g’nite ll and katymine
OK, well, I’m not lasting very long…
bda
bda
bdats all folks!
g’nite dosido
Heck ya!
i wonder what the r’s want us to not be focused on while we are distracted with the latest dog and pony media circus about obama.
we gotta be respectful of teddy’s sunday nite post but i’ve got late late nite tomorrow nite where we can celebrate tex’s birthday
evening pups
how is everyone this evening/late night? still rather warm out.
Good night, sleepy pups.
hey wobbly
boa noite, loo hoo
got some new tunes favorited on my utube page. dayam, i’m up to 492 again. it seems like i just went through and cleaned it up.
oops i meant boa noite to the sleepy heads
great!!!!
newton, do you think that nytimes piece is the tossing of abu gonzo under a bus?
or is this one of the r’s dirty little secrets that they no longer have the pull to get gonzo some wingnut welfare?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=df7AC1cJjao the only reference I can find abot 2 min into the cartoon
ludvig von drake! i was close on the name (laughing)
Any Gooper still in their clutches is watching hard wrt how ChimpCo treats the waning minions, and I would imagine their demeanor would be “altered” if they thought they were going to get hammered this way.
Besides,AbuG may have been silly enough to apply for positions of esteem, and in the wake of YooGate, even disesteemed positions are disappearing fast.
If I were one of them, I’d be talking with publishers about now.
And sometimes the bus slips its parking brake and… speedbump!
Hey, wobbly!
i would prefer they be talking to congress and/or federal grand juries.
At their next photo op with the military, I want the troops to spit on Bush and Cheney.
hey loo hoo
Is anyone old enough to remember a cartoon of someone’s nightmare after eating too much? Seems like I remember pill bottles and potions and elixers marching across the bed…..
i’m seriously thinking abouttaking a night swim. think it would help cool me off?
I would not have one member of the US Military do that.
Lowering themselves to Bush’s level is the beginning of the end.
But turning their backs on him en mass – now that’s a statement I could get behind.
Also a court martial in their immediate future.
and a face that turned polka dotted?
go for it… there is a lovely swimming area over by the hottub
aahhhhh nothing better than night swimming. no splashing, pool emptying cannonballs or ‘warm’ spots in the water
Yeah, you are right. Turning their backs would be a powerful statement. Wonder if the MSM would even show it?
muita obrigada pelas flores, wobbly
I don’t remember enough to be sure. Like Bushco always says: I don’t recall…. :)
Wonder what ever happened to Bush’s vaunted War Tsar?
“Quick – cut to Cheney, what ever the f*** he’s doing!”
only if they knew it was being filmed and would show up on utube… when the msm did show it, it would be spun about how the soldiers were turning their back on some imaginary protesters or some such
Thanks for the cartoons Suz…. good night all sleep well :>)
de nada, querida *g*
g’nite nahant
…sleep my love and peace attend thee….all through the night…
egad, what was i thinking. i just made a stack of french toast to eat and it is yummy. but really not the carrot sticks i should be eating – the mother of the bride dress hunt starts tomorrow
multi-task much?
:-)
hmmm, real maple syrup
but french toast tastes a whole lot better than carrot sticks
Where do you go to shop, Suz?
Damn! I’m hungry again!
Thank you so very much…
we are meeting at a mall that has both macys and nordstroms along with a lot of speciality shops. she said we gotta get me some girl shoes too (sigh)
token sure is enjoying his pre-washing chores tonight.
victoria, that is beautiful.
That’s such a lovely melody, and very peaceful words.
Well, you can kick ‘em off when the dancin’ begins!
Sounds fun. There was a women’s expo today at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which I went to with a couple of friends. You’ll never believe what I bought.
i h-a-t-e shopping loohoo.
whatdidja get?
I think so, too.
….love, alone, his vigil keeping…….all through the night
boa noite, pups
moonlight swim followed by a shower and a good night’s sleep
If you’re going shopping for girl shoes, you get to eat all the french toast you want.
It’s in the Liberal Agenda.
nite wobbs
Hi Suze, just got back from going to the Fillmore. J is a big RObyn Hitchcock fan and he was there.
Got a new singer for you to dig!
boa noite wobbly
I love the way clean sheets feel after a swim and shower. Have fun.
Sleep well, all.
I’m hungry too. And I made the best cheese gizmos earlier.
Good sharp cheddar, corn tortillas, butter and habanera salsa. Just warm the tortillas so they’ll fold around the sticks of cheese, put a toothpick in, and fry in the butter. It’s totally okay if some of the cheese melts out and fries. Flip and repeat. Yum….
gotta get the MOTB dress too
bride to be was talking accessories on the phone – i am so hosed
You hate shopping, Suz? Oy. Bought rhinestone straps that you hook on a strapless. If the bra strap shows, a-ok! Too funny!
i’m a dfh, loohoo. what’s a bra?
On the day my number 2 sister got married, she and my father and I met in a room right off the room where the ceremony was to be performed.
She whipped out a bottle of Ouzo and 3 shot glasses and we tossed back and walked straight to the judge.
I highly recommend this approach.
Ha! Oh, boy. You are hating this wedding shopping stuff, huh!?
in all seriousness, i am a sweats and tshirt kinda gal who hasn’t bought myself new clothes (other than sweats) in several years. i have no clue what size i wear for anything since i have lost weight.
jen is gonna require i look like a lady instead of a dfh. the no tie dye rule apparently was just the beginning.
Sounds much healthier for all concerned.
Suz, look at is as though you are dressing for a Halloween party. There has to be a way you can get something you can wear again, okay? A simple, loose fitting (comfy) cotton dress in Jen’s wedding color. Wedge sandals. Costume pearl earrings and necklace. Be comfortable, and buy a dress you can later wear around the house without the jewelry and belt on a hot day. DO NOT waste your money on something you won’t wear again!
i’m definitely going for comfortable, loohoo. wedges may be the way – with my fake knee, i’m not supposed to wear heels (and my back don’t like them either).
Damn, talk about arming your opponent: http://news.google.com/news/ur…..pq9qyM_m1w
So, here is where campaign skill will show through.
IMHO, Obama has no option but to apologize for dissing small-town American’s
– love of God
– interest in actualizing their second-ammendment rights
– concerns that illegal immigration might lower the aggregate demand and payment for their skills and services.
After that he can explain to them how badly they’ve been screwed, and they might pay attention.
“I’m Bitter” bumper stickers and pins all across America would help too.
or “I’m bitter, but it’s going to get better.”
i’d put an i’m bitter bumpersticker on my car loohoo, because i forking am bitter. when bush took office, i was middle class.
I am so tired of this.
Went to the congressional district convention to elect delegates to Denver today. I was an alternate but was selected to vote as a delegate. Listened to speeches from about 30 men and women who were seeking one of 4 delegate slots. It was very inspiring, I wish I could have voted for ten or twelve of them instead of only 4. Great to be involved firsthand in the democratic process. I wish the other crap would go away.
One of the delegates elected was an 18 year old female high school student who apparently was very involved in the Obama campaign in her area. I voted for her, to encourage her continued participation in the process.
“We’ve been run by Republicans and Cintons for
28 year. How has that worked out for you?”
oh neuro, how wonderful that must have been to see someone so young so energized.
yes it was.
IMO, it’s looking hard at those statement that makes them that much bigger. Simply ignore and dismiss their criticisms, just as McCain and Clinton have ignored the obvious meaning of Obama’s statements.
He pivots off of it and attacks McCain and Clinton as the very source of this pain they are feeling (gas and heating oil prices, tuition costs, etc aren’t partisan – they are philosophical, and their leadership philosophies are “big-business first”), and reclaims the high-ground. But he has to spend very, very big to make it count.
That’s why Dog made war-chests.
Hats off, neuro.
How cool is that…
Somehow, we need to turn that energy to smashing the stranglehold of the mainstream media. When even an admission by the President of the United States of America that he knew of and authorized war crimes isn’t news, we have a very serious problem. How can somthing to from “wild-eyed, irresponsible speculation” to “Ho Hum Yesterday’s News” without ever being news?
Exactly. Many of us are bitter for many reasons that our government could fix.
it was about the same time all political news started to be covered the same way as the oj stuff. everyone looking for the gotcha, the new ‘dirt’, and no real reporting being done – with very few exceptions.
I grew up in such towns and was such a person. IMHO, that won’t work on those people. But maybe there are so few of them that they don’t matter. The danger is that they get sympathy/empathy from folks in the large states, and you can count on Cinton and McCAin and their media supporters to try to make that happen. It’ll be interesting/scary to watch.
Here’s something valley Girl sent me a few minutes ago – RGJoe can eat kitty litter!
I vote tomorrow afternoon for the Obama delegates. My first time being this involved. I’m also on Robert Hamilton’s campaign committee. He’s running against Darrell Issa. Both of the people I’m voting for are helping out.
Worked for me during the Clinton years, but I sold my stocks before the crash. (Wish I’d held the Qualcomm, though.)
Exciting stuff!
Congratulations LooHoo!
These clueless motherfucking assholes:
The Clinton presidency especially worked for a lot of us. But if you look at the gains by the rest of the industrialized world during the same period …
there was only one name i recognized on our ballot. I went in with an open mind. In order to help me make a good decision, I rated each person after their speech like an Olympic judge (6.8, 7.4, 8.0, etc.) as well as briefly noting their home town, their professional qualifications, and their political experience. Interestingly enough, 3 of the 4 delegates elected were people I voted for. I found the process very gratifying.
Carolyn Kennedy needs to get out in front of that.
Not clueless. They know precisely what they are doing.
I’m not willing to give them a pass by suggesting that “they know not what they do.”
They are as willful as they have ever been and they are right on course.
The “motherfucking assholes” part – we are certainly together on this.
sorry pups, its time for me to turn into a broom user again.
after i have the place all spiffy, i gotta head off to bed so i can be shopping (deep breath) before the crack of noon tomorrow.
thanks for hanging with me tonight pups. g’nite all.
nite suzanne
have a terrific time tomorrow!
I’ll bet!
Good night, Suz. Have fun tomorrow!
well, if Suzanne is leaving, I guess it must be time for me to also. good nite, all.
Yup! Anyone who is really reassessing is clueless. Those who are trying to sell the need to reassess and those who pretend to buy that need are evil, motherfucking assholes. Are we cool?
Nite, neuro.
Cool.
Nancy – are you watching?
You have a very short window to save your soul.
Nancy, that’s your “immortal soul” we’re talking about here. And, the Pope got rid of purgatory. If anything, it’s HELL.
The Pope got rid of purgatory?
Like eating red meat on Fridays…
pope smope, Purgatory Dune is more interesting.
Seems comical. And flying Vatican airlines seems to be a money maker. When do people start asking questions?
Cool.
nice!
I like this one of McMurdo :D
Gahd, I hate the Internets!
hate inertents? *blinks*
/s dude
orly?
The White House announces a big birthday bash for the new Pope. All the Cards except Andy will be their seated in state pecking order. One seat next to the President of the United States marked Guest of Honor the Pope will be empty. The leader of the protestant world is snubbed. What a put down. Smirks all arould the Middle East. Make that the world.
Then their will be the Pope’s UN speech.
Before that the Prez announced he approved the torture…America tortures. Great..shaking my head what the fuck do Americans stand for? All our institutions of higher learning, our Fourth Estate the great Neocon political cabal where is there morality? The moral leadership we once were known for is history. This is the dawning of the age of immorality.
God Father Part IV
Good morning. Anyone up?
I’m up. I’m in beautiful sunny Myrtle Beach where the forecast for the next few days is either cloudy, rainy or cold. It must be me.
Hi solai. Yesterday was the first really great spring day in the mid-Hudson. Sunny, got up to low 70s. The ground was soaked from thunderstorms the night before, so couldn’t do outside work. Instead, I read outdorrs for hours. A preferrable was for me to spend the day. It’s cloudy this morning, with possible rainshowers predicted.
I brought 3 books that I’ve been meaning to read. I may get my chance. One is “Charlie Wilson’s War”. I’ve found I don’t enjoy fiction as much as I used to but didn’t want to get too deep when I’m supposed to be on R&R. Thus, left “Blackwater” at home. (I’ve had it for months. I think I’m afraid to read it…much scarier than anything Stephen King could write).
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Kristof and Rich. MoDo says Bill is “Standing By His Woman,” and that Hillary, fresh from pushing the preposterous Mark Penn to the rear of her leaky boat, has to deal with Bill making waves again. Mr. Kristof’s column is titled “Extended Forecast: Bloodshed.” He says the direst consequences of our delay in confronting climate change may include civil war — and even witch-killings — among the poorest peoples on earth. Mr. Rich says “The Petraeus-Crocker Show Gets the Hook,” and that most Americans don’t want to hear, see or feel anything about the Iraq war. They want to look away, period, and have been doing so for some time.
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got the whole deal today, scrambled eggs, grits, bacon or sausage and biscuits. I’m going to be doing some digging in the dirt and I need something to keep my energy up. Yesterday I got two rose mallows that I hope will do well and keep the butterflies and hummingbirds happy. Have a great day.
Yesterday I finally finished After Tamerlane by John Darwin, a history of all the empires in the world after 1405. An excellent book but very dense. Now I’m not quite halfway thru Bad Samaritans by Ha-Joon Chang, which details why everything the neoliberals (=neolimperialists) say about free trade is exactly the opposite from reality. We should have him on one of our book salons. Because it’s economics, I can read it pretty quickly.
Did I mention that we have a small balcony off one of the bedrooms that is now the residence of a pigeon either laying an egg or hatching one
Not being a financial wizard, I read quite a few Enron books trying to understand what exactly happened. The best was Kurt Eichenwald’s. Did you read that?
Mornin’ all!
I didn’t read any of the books on Enron. I read the newspapers pretty thoroughly & saw the movie, and watched the testimony on CSPAN. After all that, I thought I knew as much as I wanted to know, so though I own several books, I never got around to reading them.
I had a funny personal observation that made the Enron debacle more interesting. My firm held a “new economy” conference in Santa Fe in October 99. I was not presenting, but I attended. Enron was on the program and made the kind of presentation I would normally love, full of facts and charts. Still, something struck me as bogus. Not too long afterwards, we all learned what it was.
Good morning twolf1.
Good morning eCAHNomics, how are you today? Crystal clear sky here but rain in the forecast for midday.
Good Morning all.
The sun is shining here is southern NJ.
