In 2002, two of these states, the United States and Israel, ”unsigned” the Rome Statute, indicating that they no longer intend to become states parties and, as such, they have no legal obligations arising from their signature of the statute.[2][13][14]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.....inal_Court

since you guys brought it up–we aren’t members, so, not a party to the ’law’?…….however, we committed acts in countries that ARE members……so, can that be the way in?

look at the map on the wiki page………we transported and confined and tortured people in countries where it was illegal according to the icc list……and if we didn’t torture until they were at guantanamo, (guess cuba is not a member of the icc or we wouldn’t have built it there)we captured some and transported them through member countries to get them there.

wouldn’t that be violating icc?

remember when we weren’t allowed to do certain things (troops and who knows what else) through britain and we did? and were caught?
whatever happened with that..

I understand his reasoning but with the news of the “principals” meetings to discuss torture occurring at the highest level of the government should keep it from all being laid at Yoo’s feet. After all, the order to proceed did NOT come from Yoo.

Wigwam,
Remember when the Clinton’s were accused of “trashing” the White House on their way out the door at the end of Bill’s term and the “grown-ups” were now in charge. Of course we all do, but my rage today is that this was done in the “People’s House” and the shame of this Administration will not be wiped clean in a hundred years.
The dumb ass admitted it and nothing is said. Oh wait, this is a Republican administration. Obama says something that comes out on the same day about “bitter” people and it is all over the news. Just like you said, “a conspiracy of silence.”
Sorry for the rant, you just touched on a raw nerve and the rant is not directed at you.

VERY surprising article about Ray McGovern in the AZ Republic(ian)
Ex-CIA analyst will speak out

One day after President Bush depicted Iran as one of the greatest threats to the United States and his top officials in Iraq testified that Tehran was directing armed insurgence there, in Phoenix, retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern will denounce the Iraq war, use of torture and the perils of injecting politics into agency reports.

McGovern, whose 27-year agency career culminated in briefing President George H.W. Bush, gave back his commendation medal to protest the CIA’s use of torture in the fight against terror. McGovern retired in 1990.

“Iran isn’t a threat. The biggest threat to the United States is the constitutional breakdown whereby the legislative branch has ceded its authority to the executive, and which has ramifications for many future presidents,” he said. “The threat is internal.”

McGovern stated that there is a 50/50 chance of a surprise attack on Iran between Oct & Jan this year…
