Sheep’s Rights End Shearing Contest:
Animal welfare activists complained some sheep were being nicked by the electric clippers used by competitors, who come from as far as New Zealand and Australia to take part in the Kent County Show.
One activist, who did not wish to be named, said: “Sheep have rights too. I thought it was cruel so complained. A lot of people agreed with me.”
But farmer Tony Mowbray said: “This is just complete madness. Shearers are trained professionals. Of course sheep get the odd nick but it’s ridiculous to stop that from being shown to the public to protect their sensibilities.
If this keeps up I am going to be left holding a large jar of mint jelly.

Having known a few sheep, I wouldn’t say they are stupid, merely lacking in the capacity for independent thought. This is much like certain sectors of the population in general, for instance those who voted for Bush.

I’m bitter, pissed off, vexxed, angry, upset, miffed, flummoxed, antagonistic, grumpy, of a mind to keelhaul someone, have a taste in my mouth like bitter herbs, frustrated, Sysyphean, cantankerous…for very good reason.
I’m surprised that the other Democratic candidate doesn’t share these feelings. Maybe she’s all copasetic with the Constitution being treated like a wad of toilet paper on the floor of a stall in a Minneapolis airport mens room. Maybe the fact that 4000 American servicemen and women have lost their lives isn’t upsetting. Or the fact that hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died because of a war undertaken under false pretences. That life is so rosy when hundreds of thousands of borrowers face onerous and usurious interest rates and fear foreclosure and loss of their homes.
If you aren’t pissed off about this stuff you don’t give a F*CK about our country! What planet are these people living on? And Obama’s right…people who don’t see hope from the people who actually are responsible for these disasters of policy frequently scapegoat the wrong people, or seek solace in a bottle or pills, or see the government as the enemy or fear an Armageddon and go survivalist. Or they deny the material, and that man can actually do ANYTHING about the problems, and seek supernatural solutions. This stuff isn’t “looking down” on people, it’s recognizing historical realities. In times of crisis and cultural change people go on witch hunts and reject the world, or fall for get-rich schemes.
i don’t think either dem candidate shares your feelings. did you hear obama’s floor statement on the MCA? that wasn’t the statement of someone who was pissed off about what the MCA meant for habeas corpus, fair trials and accountability.

Nope neither candidate has the will or gumption to stand up and shout loudly for what is right they only do what their corporate masters tell them. The best they can do is snipe at each other like teenyboppers over candy. Neither will stand up and call for impeachment, will condemn the politicization of the DOJ, will call out bushco for condoning and ordering torture, will speak of war profiteering, of private contract murders, rapes and theft. They are gutless the both of them and not worth the snot in a hanky.
except when we compare them to mccain…. then they look better.

Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert today in the NYT. La Collins’ column is titled “The Revenge of Lacey Davenport.” Her theory is that the age issue is not all that huge a deal when it comes to legislators. Mr. Herbert says we are “Losing Our Will,” and that the war in Iraq stands like a boulder in the road, blocking progress on so many important issues that are crucial to our viability as a society.
