This is Late Late Nite FireDogLake, where off topic is the topic…so dive in.
DEZ
SRV!
Hey Suz!
Late late Suz!!!! woot!
This song was so cool… the motels, I used to sit the alert on the boat and listen to this album in my Walkman…
Live from the Late Merv Griffin show. Sorry swag.
dug Ya Suz
And for the off topic … the Sharks won one of the hardest hitting hockey games I have seen in years… they had 78 shots on net… shit thats like a semiautomatic hockey stick.
thanks nahant
how are ya’ll doing tonight?
fine, Suzanne. and you?
Gugg. Thanks nahant.
Damn, I forgot about the game!
Doing fine, Suz! This song makes me want to be smoking…
Who is DEZ?
zed backwards?
Zed’s dyslexic brother?
duh
my brain is fried from working on my taxes.
You didn’t mention the final score, 78 shots on net means whoever was guarding the net must have been as wide as a sheet of plywood.
Okay…this is just one more reason Bush and his cronies need to be impeached…if not now…then after he leaves office.
Clinton Still Benefits From US Taxpayer Perks
A post-tenure impeachment would disallow a convicted individual from profitting from their office, or holding an office of “Trust, honor or profit under the United States” in the future.
No pension, no bodyguards, no ability to lobby for contracts, no right to prevent investigators, historians and Congress from looking at the Presidential records…no stripping the White House offices of “gifts” made by lobbyists and foreign dignitaries, no use of staffers, offices, franking or phone privileges…
Ban the use of the Titles and Symbols of office…unless accompanied by the prefix “Impeached and Convicted…”
Let’s just call it part of the “Peace and Reconciliation Process” for criminal acts.
exhaling – its one of my favorite songs he did.
on acid. :)
Elvis Costello…shipbuilding. “Diving for dear life, when we could be diving for pearls…”
You missed a great one kept us on the edge of seats all game long. Kiprusoff was amazing in goal for Calgary.. I have to give him credit for a great game… final was 2-0 Sharks!
WRT dez – Start here, Loo Hoo.
persiflage gets credit.
more elvis
Hey, Suz! My eldest daughter just got in this morn, she’s bummed that she missed the torch relay in SF… She’s got photos of the protest and promised me I could upload ‘em later!
That’s understandable. I got mine done by February first this year. Saved a lot of stressy grief.
Bingo… they keep saying zed is dead …but no one said nothing about DEZ..
Like me some Elvis Costello
sweet. can’t wait to see em. you could put them up at your other place and link us there to see em if you dont’ have a flicker or similar type account
Because it is on the Yeast coast…
Top-notch SRV tonight Suz.
friday on my mind
Maybe he’d have to opt for the Paraguayan exile. I’m totally in favor of that.
thanks, newt. it was fun going through all the utubes of this song. i found a bunch
he’s gotta take cheeney with him and all their kin who also have to renounce their citizenship
LOL… love this. Found it the other night.
Now this is my favorite Elvis Costello
Fall down time. Yeesh, I can’t wait fer Saturday.
Gnite!
g’nite busted
Even better.
i loved the muppet show
the zed IS dead. the dez must be daed.
I’ll link ‘em from her account when she transfers them… She got shafted by ATA and then her new itenarary had her flying into Oakland and then flying out of SF, so she was in SF and thought she would watch it along the proposed route… Needless to say, it didn’t happen according to schedule… But, she told me they had a decoy run the stretch that she was at and the decoy didn’t get very far before being mobbed…!
nice try
Proof positive that the Iraqis won’t do anything on their own unless we leave.
Iraqi Reconstruction Funded By US while $48billion In Foreign Banks
These Iraqi officials are like the son that returns home after college and moves back in without paying rent, eating free home-cooked meals while having a nice job that pays well. They won’t take responsibility for solving their own structural problems, political conflicts, or security issues as long as the US will do it for them.
At some point we have to say…no more occupation…resolve your own issues and stop using the US to bolster the current governments ineptitude.
judas forking priest
I guess thats another way of looking at it… But DEZ is classy…
That’s such a sweet song… right on the top of the Elvis toons for me too…
Heh, Zed is not dead as long as I get’em! ;-)
on the road
You got that right! Hows the little lady doing with her knee?
OMG. It’s fun to go back, but also sad.
WHERE IS STEVE AR these days? I really miss him. (among others)
How happy you must be to see her! It’s really different than having daughters come home at age 15, huh?!
Looks like another great night of toonez… Canned Heat
If this is on iTunes, I’m buying it… awesome. Diana Krall, what a voice. Killer performance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bQmT1EM0Eg
It’s a duel!
Good evening dear friends. Having a good night?
Enjoying the lasagna I made for her and my eldest, and keeping it elevated…!
Howdy, Ma’am!
When they are 15 you can’t wait for them to leave and when they do you can’t wait to see them… you just can’t seem to win as a parent :< )</p>
since i have ya’ll here, i got a question for ya.
do ya like the saturday nite cartoons?
Hi, where’ve you been?
cartoons are great.
YES.
margot, i can’t help it, every time i see this, i think of you
dealing with dizziness. before that, hanging out with my kid.
Yes’m
A little Canned Heat from Woodstock… boy what a show..
The Toons rule!
sure!
FORK, this is the link, margot
‘evening all-yes. So many to be missed. No time to miss them all.
Yes Suzanne. Love the cartoons.
YES! It’s perfect, Suz. Tired of the news and getting ready for the Sunday news. Nice break.
From Doc Kirk James Murphy’s chat last night they did what they needed to do…although I did see some cheesy video (complete with canned cheese-whiz gushing synth classical chords that repeated itself endlessly) of the “opening ceremony” of the SF Torch run that apparently aired back in China.
What gets me is that so many Chinese here in the US really think that China “always ruled Tibet”. They need to be shown some old National Geographic articles from the 1930’s-1950’s that show “Lhasa, Kingdom at The Top of The World” that shows that it was not only independent, but had been so for millenia. But, they’d likely just shunt that stuff off as “Western propaganda” by some imperialists wanting to take over that wasteland at high elevation.
Cute… and fun
Whats not to like? If you don’t you were never a kid… Saturday mornings were the best.. my little sisters (twins) and I would get up before they started and some forts out of umbrellas and blankets, get our cereal and be waiting for the cartoons to start.
I’m torn-so very proud of the statement that was made in SF yesterday, but uncomfortable with the parallel. Hard to be self -righteous when we are occupying Iraq the way we are.
Oh jeez thanks a lot!
(the ‘t’ is silent!)
loohoo, that is exactly what i was hoping to accomplish.
and pups, thanks. i wasn’t sure – thought maybe ya’ll were getting tired of em.
The better half is all ecstatic, and, I’m happy to see her too! She’s already headed out and said; “Don’t wait up, I’ll be back when I’m back…” Just like she never left… *g*
the ending is the best.. but it makes me think of ct
Hellooo… As if! 8-P
was ray stevens impersonating zed in that video?
just the cuffs ct, simmer down
the US CITIZENS are protesting against evil in our own govt and in theirs.
We are there by deceit… not our choosing but BushCo’s lie thats keeps going and going kinda like the little pink bunny
Yes’m, I guess I didn’t watch it all the way…!
some nadine?
I know just what you mean. Why haven’t we had massive rallies about our own human rights violations?
For you, Suz…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiGPQVUJqq0
From wikipedia a short history of Tibet
The Chinese have no real historical claims to Tibet… if anything Tibet has claims on China…. But the PRC would never admit it.
’tis true…It’s just, I had a long conversation yesterday with a wonderful Syrian-Palestinian gentleman, all about what it’s like living under occupation…broke my heart. We have got to get out of there.
ahhhhhhhhh
back atcha ct
Nighters, pups.
{{{Loo Hoo}}}
Sleep well….
g’nite loohoo

Great drum solo here…
fire
On my iPod… Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O’Brien, OBE
aka. Dusty, blue eyed soul indeed. I had such a crush on her when I was a kid.
All I got was a black screen! The Vog has been reduced by the rain showers we’ve benn getting steadily today!
Wow. But where’s Dick Clark?
Oh: And I got your fire right here.
Argh
My sons are downloading something on their laptop, so I can’t watch videos.
Ah well. Tomorrow will be different!
Hi CT! Did you scroll right? It’s a tryptich, the glow is only in the middle pic. It’s there right now!
Dam You posted that one before I could get it :< (</p>
no dick clark – how about some dave clark 5
Apollyologies!

Note to self: Start band called The Dave Dick 5.
whew. done with my taxes, for now…
finally got a chance to listen to the video at the top of the page. don’t think I’ve heard it before. it’s mighty fine.
are you lonesome tonight - and its not who you think it is
CT,I hope your daughter had fun (though I know we eweren’t the event she showed up to see)
Hi newtonusr – hi nahant.
Mostly down from the protests – except I think I’m ….uh…running a mild fever with flu-like symptoms.
sunburn flu – caried around my sun glop all day long – never put any on ’til I saw friends reglopping…
great moments in preventive medicine here…
(no excuse, but after 5 yrs in SF I kinda forget about that whole sunburn thing)
how are y’all?
whew is right.
Oh, I’m seeing some good album covers…mmmHmm
Havin’ us a firefestival, looks like.
LOL! I caught the vent!
Guttermind.
(Heh heh heh heh.)
oh fine kirk… just ignore me. LOL
you want a shrink paying attention to what you say?
Okay, gotta pu this up before I crash…this is the single best drummer I have ever personally seen live…
Terry Bozzio solo.
Oh dear, I can guess where this is going to wind up… wait for it… … yep!, reptile, etc.
But thanks. Thanks for that. No, really. Yeh.
[showing age here]
They used to play all seven minutes of that on AM radio back in the 60s. It was a huge deal. I remember listening to that on KYA and KFRC, and everyone would just jam on their transistor radios.
Oh he’s good, what I can hear in 3 second bits. Very good!
sorry, i think this is the best drum song
uh, naw. on second thought, I’m invisible.
RonD, Terry Bozzio was a Zappa drummer… he’s a drum god, like Don Brewer of Grand Funk.
Wow, I grew up in Lafayette, born in 1960, same stations, same transistor radio…
Hey waitaminute….
OMG, YOU’RE ME!!!
If you haven’t heard Jackie Spears’ speak today in Congress you have to check her out
The Rethuglians first cheered her and then booed her and some even left the chambers… what bastards!
Exactly!
top of the hill, daly city, jofish
moved to pleasant hill when my dad retired from the navy. lived there from 65 until 73, when i moved to sf
Suzanne – I wanted to drive by and say Thanks to You for offering-up two music selections, in particular, that have made my ‘regular rotation’ – the Mule doing Slackjaw Jezebel, and Sweet Jane by the Cowboy Junkies!
Let me throw-back-atcha some Amps on 11 Foghat!
Keep On Rockin’, Sis!
Sunnyvale
Matthews’ TV and Stereo City!
Jackie stepped up huge. I always suspected that Pelosi feared her, and now I know why.
Oops – sorry JoFish – my bad.
I was temporarily mesmerized by the spinning beach ball on the laptop….
Hope your fish is doing better than our salmon :(
6400 Mission – Top of the Hill, Daly City!
The world, she is small, no? I lived in PHill backing up on DVC in 80-82. WIth my band. OK, I feel old now.
M I yer evil twin? heh… yer too young. lafayette? Looziana? Got them on “the skip”?
You tell him Suz… but speaking of Fish they closed the Salmon season for the entire year… I bet a big cause was the diversion of water on the Klamath by the Boosh bastards for those rethuglian farmers leaving thousands of Salmon to die in the river due to lack of water.. they never got the chance to spawn..
Fricking Repugs booing her…! Issa walking out… real class acts, eh?
Zappa plays Zappa – The Black Page (Drums: Terry Bozzio)
sweet, love me some foghat. glad ya like the tunes
[hiding eyes.. I took my lithium this morning, honest] LOL. Did not realize you were a shrink, are you here writing a paper on NetPups and BDS? LOL…
i saw salmon having sex today. just on the other side of the bridge in the gravel beds
Well, Suzanne, I certainly won’t take anything away from that guy jamming with Carlos…but when I say Bozzio with Zappa, I didn’t know who he was…met him a couple years later with Missing Persons, and last saw him with Jeff Beck…and I myself have never seen anyone better, in person.
Love that bass line…
Ah, no — Lafayette, California. Only been to NOLA once.
Awesome job by Jon tonite!
my mom lived in lafayette overlooking the bart station and the lafayette reservoir. up behind the cape cod house – until they moved to palm desert
what blows me away is that kid was 18 at woodstock.
can we call it a tie?
I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
Is this like some kind of Winterland Ballroom refugee camp here? Post and Steiner, baby…
LOL. How about the T-Heads…take me to the river
Ack, gotta move away from the keyboard for a while… hope to be back later; if not, then sweet dreams to the whole Dirty eFfin’ Heap o’ya!
nite CT.. M&C is rockin’ my man!!!
you sure they were Salmon and not Steelhead… the Salmon get all red and ugly
aloha ct
hope to see ya later but if not, sleep well hmmm
nahant, steelhead are a variety of salmon. they are called rainbow trout when they are landlocked and cant return to the sea.
steelhead don’t die after spawning tho, they return to the ocean.
at least, that is what i’ve been told.
Ha! Cape Cod House was the first place I ever are swordfish… ’til my Mom forbade it when the first mercury scare hit! We lived on the other side of those hills, near Burton School. TTFN
There was another forum (a Yahoo political chat room circa 1999) where people were writing papers on the behavior on display there.
A tie, or simply the best at different times…18? Holy Jeebus. That is amazing. I yield to the WOW factor of your guy…
Goodnight all. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
Here is one for all you guys/gals in the city
It’s funny, I was not allowed to go over to Oakland/East Bay with out a “grown up”, but I could go into SF any time I wanted. So I got into music there really early, even met some interesting folks… when you’re like 12 and 13 everyone is nice to you. Summer of 67…
g’nite rond
i wasn’t allowed to step foot in berkeley unless my parents were with me (or another responsible fuddy duddy). but i was allowed to go to golden gate park and rock concerts
different times back then for sure
Nite RonD
Hey, this ain’t no party… how were we to know David Byrne was so prescient? “we’re tappin phone lines…” Jeebus
(laughing) i wudda been at altamont but i came down with mumps 2 days before.
Tes but the Steelhead get to have sex more than once…. they keep coming bnack for more… the poor Salmon only get ti do it once… dam they just learn how to have fun and then… well you know they become bait
summer in the city
and in keeping with the earlier pyromania and Zappa references…
fire down below
I do love that city.
No worries. I think the mods are studying me….
_ _
And CT and RonD, sleep well…
A little music for all you DFH’s
we built this city
I like that

Seger performing “Against the Wind” on the tour behind the album. He introduces it as a “new song”. Wow.

Margot..this is the most fun I have all week… and I owe it all to Suzanne.
And something from Paul
Off to bed myself, pups….resting up from the-cold-that-is-actually-major-sunburn.
Amazingly enough, carrying sunscreen around all day is not sufficient sun protection.
Great moments in preventitive medicine – uh, not so much.
Sleep well, friends.
glad i could help brighten your week, jo
sleep well, kirk, and don’t forget the aloe vera
nite doc
This is what we want the Rethuglian party to do this year

Sleep well, and watch that sunburn stuff…
Back for a sec… fire still burnin’
Anyone see this story?
I see a future GOP Senator….
And for the swimmers in the house
Glenn sez GOP bailin’ on the FISA revs…!
Why what a cheap trick… great song.
wasn’t that a tragedy… when i heard the story, and then heard it was made up….
good nite folks
On a sad note. I have spent the last hour or two looking over some of the old reliable “liberal” blogs I love so dearly. Almost without fail, I would go to a site that would explain to me why Obama is a lying, evil, anti-semetic, palestinian hater/lover, who will surely lose to McCain, and the next site would explain to me how Hillary is a vile, evil, lying bitch, who is going to lose handily to McCain.
I’m close to turning off the damn computer and trying again in 2009 with this whole “tubez” thingy.
Also Youths Attack Australian School — of course everything that happens there is realer than anything that happens here….
g’nite neuro
It’s a treat, all right.
Oh I know what I was going to ask of whoever wants to play:
What was the first album you ever bought?
night neuro :)
i am hopeful that once the nominee is determined, that we can stop with the circular firing squad and focus our attention on mcbush
For that matter, Food Riots Breaking Out Across Planet
Good night Kirk, I hope you feel better.
Oh sweet Jeebus please…
And regarding 217 and 220, aren’t you just a ray of freaking sunshine this morning!
Oh, great question.
Byrds.
i’ve been posting news stories in the news box for a week now about how countries are canceling exports of rice, corn, and wheat. bad times coming to planet earth.
Wow.. that’s a tough one. Cream I think, Disraeli Gears, because before that I only bought 45s.
my first album i got was meet the beatles (as a christmas present). starting saving my allowance to get the rest.
Hey, that’s just how this brain got built. I’m not the boss, I just report what it tells me.
SHAFT film soundtrack, Isaac Hayes.
Campana Music, Lafayette CA.
First single: Popcorn by Hot Butter (Moog by Stan Free)
One for the Bushco’s
album that i keep buying when it is released in new formats (album, 8track, cassette, cd) – Morrison Hotel/Hard Rock Cafe The Doors.
Yes. Almost as though ploughing our fertile land under to build so many expensive houses nobody could buy ‘em all was a bad idea, huh?
(Warning, more joy:) FBI nudges state ‘fusion centers’ into the shadows

Have we won yet?
Just back from taking 75 students to the dress rehearsal of the Anchorage Opera production of Donizetti’s comedy, “Don Pasquale,” which has a little bit more plot than your average Fred Astaire-Ginger Rodgers movie – and a helluva lot more singing. I love taking kids to opera who have never seen one. They’re blown away at how much more interesting and vital it is than they had imagined. At least, most of ‘em…
hey et
Getting a little dusty in here
Nice eye candy also
norina
hiya, Suzanne.
It got down to a forking minus 4 F here last night. Then it got real warm and sunny during the day, melting most of the 6 inches of snow we got yesterday in a flash. I wasn’t here for it, but that’s what happened at the ET homestead.
dang et. thats a lot of snow to melt all at once
we hit 73 today and are currently 45 with clear skies. tis a nice night now that forking wind isn’t blowing.
Your winter blues seem to be over, Suzanne. Our Norina was very, very good. What an actress! She was holding back – dress rehearsal – but not much. I fell in love, with Ms. ET sitting next to me.
insomnia (again)
YouTube is evil. Didn’t Lewis Black do that the other night?
The Lord Nelson Mass
Suz I haven’t got Julie and choir’s version done but his one is works
don’t know if it was winter blues but it was something for sure, et.
jo, you really didn’t try very long
that’s because YouTube is evil. Crawled in bed and started thinking of other tunes… and boom -like magik- there they were.
Laptops are evil too, especially the ones with spinning beach balls…
Funny how that happens :)
tis beautiful, nahant. thanks
jane warned me about the utubes when i got dsl. i think utube is an candy flavored (ear and eye) time machine

And please take the time to view this, The Story of Stuff, if you haven’t seen it already. And share it with your family and special friends!
Bob in HI
sweet, thanks, bob in hi
Nice, thanks y’all… gonna try one more time. and shut off the damn laptop… :)
See ya later today…LOL!
fingers and toes crossed it works this time jo
Ha Bob I jsut had a nice lady come by the house and give me a flyer for getting rid of your E-waste. They pick up old TVs monitors computer and such and they get it all recycled here in the bay area and almost nothing goes into the land fill. And boy do do I have stuff from years and years of fixing computers I managed to accumulate a LOT of STUFF… I keep meaning to bring it to one of the recyclers down in Sunnyvale. But you know how that works. They will pick up everything if I have in on the curbside by 8AM Monday.. I don’t think they know who they were talking to.. boy will they get STUFF from my garage/computer lab!
sweet – they are prohibited up here from going into the landfill
And just to remind us what has just ended…
On that note I am going to hit the hay right after this tune ends … enjoy and good night all you good Firepups :>)
g’nite nahant
that’s about it for me too, pups. thanks for hanging with me tonight. attaturk will have his post up soon.
nite nahant
nite suz. hope the back eases up
Bob!
Thanks for sharing, that is a great vid. Can’t wait to force the kids the watch!
Regarding Matthew Diaz and the Ridenhour Prize, Scott Horton has a very nice writeup: http://harpers.org/archive/2008/04/hbc-90002819
thanks to all for the Canned Heat…
I can not believe here’s a thread of burning hot FIRE songs without a mention of The God of Hell Fire, Arthur Brown.
*sigh*
Elliot I have been trying to remember this tune for weeks…. When I was in Germany we to play this song in a Gausthause (we had a room there to get away from the base… it was passed on for to new GIs through the years) and drive the locals crazy. They like to play the ompa music!
something like this? :)
