Hi Suzanne
Hey! Haven’t been first in a long old time!
I mean second.
hey katy and loohoo
how’s everyone doing tonight?
Big wave to RGB if your hanging around…. they are predicting it will be over 100 degrees this weekend…
i’ll pass it on to him, katymine
‘Copters over downtown SF this afternoon, CHP out in force on the roadways…. aaaahhhhhh, the unmistakeable signs of another righteous protest gearing up!
That’s sweltering weather, Katy!
TLM will edit it out and ygm
Mahalo, Hmmm! Are you gonna be part of the masses?
Dugg
Thanks, luv.
dugg
Dam it took two to tango …. Digg is sure messing up again..
Heh heh, I can neither confirm nor deny, my vog-afflicted friend!
thanks for the music digg, nahant
It just doesn’t like you, nahant!
Na… will have around 10 percent humidity….
Holy Moly!
71 predicted for the high up here Saturday.
Heat wave.
At least it won’t be raining for a change.
We have had some bizzare weather lately, out of the blue hail storms, snow, all kinds of Northwest weather, all at once!
digg don’t know what they are missing. nahant makes the best chili and a totally killer apple pie (drooling at the thought of it)
Whew, You ain’t a kidding the Trades shifted and we’ve been sucking some serious shirt today, prolly about 500 meters visibility…!
CTuttle I guess digg is just hiccuping again and Suz as usual you are entirely welcomed!
Is that a hint Suz??
They’re complaining about it Honolulu, which seems pretty weird. You can see it in webcams all over the state. (Well, maybe Hanalei was just misty.)
dayam, i thought it was bad with 54 and cloudy with a bitterly cold wind was bad. we are down to 44 and that blasted cold wind is still forking blowing
nope, just telling the digg folks what a great guy you are and what they are missing by forking with ya
Add some ice pellets.
But if you do come this way I can whip up something up yummy… who knows what but I do like to cook… that is after tweaking with computers…
Not with the sheer amount she’s kicking out these days, I can taste the sulphur in the air…
Da MASTAH of the TELECASTAH! Albert Collins was a BAD MAN>
“I ain’t drunk, I’m just drinkin’”
Elmore said it was snowing when he went for a drive out the gorge near Crown Point…. thought it was funny since it was 83 degrees here…. but 100 so early is weird….. usually it is May-June when he hit that…
hey that guy, thanks for noticing the video *cough cough*
how goes?
Well, looking at the Halemaumau webcam tonight, either she’s stopped glowing — unlikely — or else she’s pushing so much plume out to the north that the camera can’t see the glow. Kinda weird.
Which caused me to have an evil laugh, my folks tried to escape the cold and snow and were in Arizona for 3 months on vacation in their motorhome. THE DAY THEY GOT BACK it snowed.
BWAAAHAHAHAHAAA.
Now it’s going to be 100 degrees?
Oh, My Pops is going to have a fit!
Lol
They had a ‘Vog’ Day for Mountain View Elementary School today!
Scott Horton has a great post on our even handed justice department.. “A Tale of Three Lawyers”
what is vog?
Sorry honey, Kills my little ‘puter. 8(
Smog! Only produced by Madame Pele, hence Vog!
Suz the tune was great kept me rocking all the way though, as always you pick some of the best music for all us late nighters!!
Ach, sorry!; Volcano smog.
Finally spell-checked my own message…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vog
wow, i never knew volcano’s create their own version of smog. how cool, my new fact for the day.
thanks :)
Heh, She’s kicked it up a notch or two…! ;-)
Hey, I live (as you know) to serve. :-)
Not cool when you’re breathing it, Suz! ;-)
ok, busted i understand about your little computer and nahant, i’m glad you liked it.
Busted, your niece is safe and sound I presume?
hey hmmm
sorry, cool fact, not cool smog, ct
Time for a little holiday in North Kohala, brah.
busted onery bastard knuckles
Remember when Mt St Helen’s blew up ….. didn’t know it had a name besides the ash ruined my windshield, glasses and gave me headaches when the Mt erupted…
2,000 tons? Where does it all go?
i had heard about the ash and sulfer etc during a big erruption (like mt st helens) but didn’t realize that a daily spewer like kilauea would produce a smog. just thought the lava oozed out
SoCal and Arizona…… if it doesn’t drop in the ocean…
The trades are blowing out of the Southeast, nowhere on the Isle is good, fortunately, the U’a has arrived and will be falling for the next couple of days, it’ll give us a nice respite from it…!
into the lungs of anyone breathing it… could go where ever the wind blows it
We can get vog up here in Alaska too. I’ve had to put two layersof pantyhose over my cars’ aircleaners several times over the years.
AYE!
They create their own lightning storms too.
I watched Mt. St. Helens go off quite a few times from within a hundred miles of the crater. It is impossible to describe!
The sky went black from the amount of ash coming out that
you could make enough cement to make 3 New York cities out of in about 2 hours. Then it went purple around the mountain and then Tesla would have run for his life!
Power beyond description.
from alaskan volcanos or from hawaii?
No word. 8(
the down side to thinking about moving up there…
Jeez!
Folks musta thought they were under attack!
no news is good news busted
bad news travels fast
I was in Longview in case that rings a bell.
There’s an amazing account of the 1924 Halemaumau (subcrater within Kilauea’s caldera, and the site of the current/newest venting) explosion here, complete with lightning, mud raining from the sky, and huge rocks falling on fleeing people.
Most of it blows out to sea, when the trades are favorable, there’s no ash involved like Mt. St. Helens… Typically you could walk up to the lip of Halemaumau with only an aftertaste left in your mouth, but, now you can’t make the journey without walking through a fog of the vog… Heh, I like that phrase…
That’s a good description. I had some friends who lived near the mountain when it went. They all moved to Alaska.
so not the camas/washougal area? (exhaling)
Not quite under attack. Volcanic eruptions do make for interesting sunsets and sunrises.
WOW that’s some great music.
Thanks!
Dear Heavens. Imagine!
Just returned from living Greece and moved to Portland when Mt St Helen’s blew up in 1980…. there was no summer that year….. cold, rainy….. garden rotted… we were looking for land up near there before it started getting active… thought I would never see the sunshine that year…
Suzanne, thanks for Further On Down The Road
Too bad the toobz are so mucked up (for me anyway) that I can’t listen to it without hiccups.
If I use IE, FDL is clunky.
IF I use Firefox, Digg is all jacked up.
I will never forget that as long as I live.
I worked on the dredges that cleaned out the Columbia river so sghips could get back to Portland and also on the Cowlitz river, where the bulk of the muck went. You cannot believe the things I saw happen. there ws a big log jam let go and the mudflow and cinder that went through downtown Kelso was so thick I could have literally walked across the river.
Pumice blocks as big as Volkswagons floating down the river.
Hopefully a once in a lifetime experience.
hey margot, how ya feeling?
neuro, dayam, have ya tried the safari browser? newton has been trying to get me to switch to it.
Fog of the Vog. Maybe Suz could find a blues rendition of that.
Are you thinking of moving there?
Sorry, got to blabbin’ there.
If anyone could, it’d be Suz…! ;-)
I was using Safari earlier on Julies PC and it worked quite well, at least so I will be testing further later and see it handles downloads and such… I do like the looks also. You can DOWNLOAD it from Apple
It was once in a lifetime event….. amazing like the big flood in 1996…that was another event…. when the Willamette Falls disappeared..
yeap, when and if this blasted place ever sells, the plan has always been to move to to the pacific northwest. just a matter of where
Suzanne,
I mentioned at one of TSF’s weekend threads that Ms ET and I wiil be in central California the last weekend in May to watch ETette - yep, that’s her - in the NCAA Division II womens crew championships. Her team is expected to win. We’re hoping to meet up over the end of the weekend-Monday with as many firedoglake pups as possible.
I was here for that too.
wasn’t babblin busted
i gotta know this stuff when it comes to making up my mind where to plant temporarily up there. i figure after i get up there, i can then narrow it down to where i wanna stay so will be looking for a rental.
Feeling great, thanks.
How are you all doing?
Hawksley Workman performing Smoke Baby durring Blues Fest ‘07
may 31st is the wedding (saturday) are you talking the monday before or the monday after that day, et.
I just saw a Keizer clinic right down the road from my folks in Vancouver the last time I was there, must have driven by it a hundred times without seeing it.
Forgot to tell ya that.
ET, your Julia is a beauty. Such a wonderful smile. You must be bursting with pride!
You should be very proud Papa. :)
from the ap wire:
Former state lawmaker Jackie Speier has won the San Francisco Bay area congressional seat opened after fellow Democrat Tom Lantos died earlier this year.
Is Safari free?
thanks busted, i heard they had one in vancouver.
I’m thinking after. We’re going to try to rent a motorhome in Sacramento and then use it to drive, eat, stay our way around the Bay and up the coast on our way to her graduation, two weeks later.
We want to visit small cheese making places, organic farms and wineries along the way.
If I was to move back to Oregon it would be around Florence…. mid Oregon coast where my parents live….
My daughter is Joselyn (Jossie), and her best friend since second grade is Julia. They call each other Hulia and Hossie.
It is.
And it’s great.
maybe we could do the monday after here at the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods. we got an organic grocery store a short walk away in town that features local items and there are lots of local wineries.
My daughter, named Julia, was nicknamed “Julio” by the girls in her secret pirate club.
gotta stay in a kaiser coverage area - dayam health care insurance dictating where i can and can not move
Heh, Cheese and Vino go hand in hand…! ;-)
Great she is a good Dem!!
Sweet! Ms ET has an old friend wo we’ve all but lost touch with, who lives between you and Santa Cruz.
Hey Busted…. are you taking about Kaiser Permeate?
There used to be a big facility out by Mall 205 in SE Portland…
