Spidey, Nahant, ES!
dylan!
poet
suzanne,
is the c-word the only forbidden word here? what about the n-word and such?
lol I promise no further questions related to this *g*
Hello, firepups. You don’t mind if I put my feet up, do ya? Been a long day.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk
We now return you to your normally scheduled off-topic nonsportsblog programming.
let me get off the phone call i am on and i’ll explain it more
Mark Penn’s ignominious departure rather obviously raises the judgement question, as has having Michael O’Hanlon, Martin Indyk, and Jamie Gorelick as advisers.
On the issues, Clinton is (slightly) more progressive than Obama. But, wrt judgement both with respect to advisers and issues, she seems to be Republican light. Which is predictable from her DLC affiliation and her A*P*C support.
Memphis got robbed when they took away the trey…!
I have it from a very good authority that there are some two or three hundred words that will cause a post to sort into the questionable basket. Depending on the context, the mod may choose to let it go through and make it onto the website so that we can all be shocked. or not.
gotcha. thanks for the clarification.
The C word has been known to get certain folks a new address.
BTW, I chose tonights song in part because its name is Wigwam. *g
Eureka!
Dylan is just what the Dr. ordered tonight.
wobbly and any other interested pups
there was a huge meta
fightdiscussion about whether or not to use the c word here. ultimately, the decision was that it was not permitted.and yes, wobbly, the n word is also not permitted. along with comments about prison rape and acts of violence and threats of violence.
really, it is just using common sense.
his foot was inside the line :)
Don’t thank me, thank Dr Pulitzer.
Oh Wow! I’m honored. Thanks!
Not when he took the shot in mid air, nor when he landed… 8-P
might mention that these words carry so much heat for some that they have the power to drive away and derail the conversation.
Considering the Pulitzer people despised rock and roll for so long, bloggers may one day win a prize.
Very true.
Marcy certainly is deserving of one…!
How come I know the names of Lanny Davis, Howard Wolfson, Maggie Williams, and Harold Ickes, but the only Obama staffer I’ve heard of is David Axelrod? Doesn’t that say something about the competence of the the campaign and the person who chose that team?
That or she should be canonized.
On my mind tonight? How about…
John McCain’s Secret Identity-Revealed!
Wow. I just looked at the picture of Dylan that accompanied the link. He is a few years older than me, but yuck! I hope I don’t look that bad when I get there. Even for a Gnome. I prefer that picture in the video.
And Penn remains..
Amen! 8-)
Perfect! Now if we can just get that and the trollop/c-word story in the MSM we will be sitting pretty.
Why didn’t Memphis foul at the end of regulation?
The wit and wisdom of Digby:
but that depends on how the words are used - not whether or not they are used.
look forward to knowing more… like when was this decision taken? what was the thinking? are there other words we’re not supposed use? are there other new rules that i don’t know about?
p.s. left you a reply downstairs.
CT, did you see the secret plan?
common sense yes, but when one advertises itself as a foul mouthed blog, i need a little clarification as i subscribe to total free speech (even if i violently disagree with what the person is saying) good to know the rules here so as not to be on the recieving end of a ‘new’ address
Why did they throw 4 bricks in a row…?
i guess that is ultiately what i was thinking as well.
i was here then, i don’t remember that decision being made public.
OK, it’s time to hang ‘em up for the night. My Bucky dog just told me it is time to go to bed.
boa noite, Gnome de Plume
Re prior thread-me too. It would solve so many other problems.
{{{selise}}}
Good night, all. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
nite Gnome
what a nice b’day you had!
‘night, Gnome!
Digg IT
Bob Dylan has been one of my favorites since 196? or at least a very long time. My oldest sister used to see him in the coffee shops in Greenwich Village many moons ago.
boa noite, RonD
Thanx, awesome find…
Yeah, right… I’m sure Germany, Japan, Korea, et al have ’similar’ SOFA allowances to detain individuals walking on the streets of Berlin, Tokyo, and Seoul… What a crock of shit! 8-(
Per emptywheel:
God, how I love it!
and just to reiterate my epu’ed comment, the issue in the pro-feminist blogosphere was not so much with trex’s use of the c word - it was pach’s post and especially the response to complaints about it.
Thanks guys. See ya tomorrow.
They are Pink Floyd fans?
night gnome, night rond
Hi Selise. Now you’ve got me curious. What the hell did Pach and Trex actually say. (Yes, of course, insert all of the necessary asterisks.)
8-P
No! No! No! You can’t go to bed now!
egads, pink floyd? i remember my school bus driver listening to them on some vintage rock station.
Well, last January, when I made my teaching schedule for the semester, I canceled classes on April 8 and 10 in order to have individual conferences with my students (mandated to do this some time during the semester). Last week, I noticed that KU was going to the Final Four, so I moved the conferences to Wed and Thurs. So, that must be why they won tonight.
I can still hear downtown noise from my house, about three or four miles from downtown. Classes are canceled tomorrow at KU, but my celebrating high school son must get up and drag himself to public school. The mother refuses to excuse him. So, Rock Chalk Jayhawks!
left you a reply downstairs
waving g’nite to any leaving sleepy pups i may of missed
This would go over big in Berlin, Tokyo, and Seoul…
Dang no Diggers tonight?
I suppose nobody in the US but Cheney would be able to see it or required to sign it. /s
dugg nahant
i just went downstairs and read the reply but since i wasn’t present when this went down, the banning of the c-word but not the word, bitch doesn’t make too much sense to me (but i realize that is because i’m used to its use to both men and women — much like asshole)
Thats better :>) we wouldn’t want to disappoint ES would we?
Heh, Addington probably drafted it…!
At best, getting their ducks in a row for a new administration. Convenient Iraq is sovereign, eh?
10 FDL bonus points for nahant!
it will probably have to wait for another time, if i’m going to be part of the conversation. i’m sleepy and that’s a good thing i’m going to pay attention to.
in prep for whenever the discussion happens…..first we need some big disclaimers.
1) people of intelligence and good will can see things quite differently.
2) even when racist or sexist language is used, that doesn’t necessarily mean the person using it is particularly racist or sexist - we live in world imbued with these language biases and we wouldn’t be human if we didn’t pick up some of it.
3) conflict isn’t necessarily a bad thing, so long as it is handled with good will and mutual respect. imo, conflict gets us thinking and pushes us to re-evaluate our assumptions.
… just want to make sure that discussions of past conflicts are not used as a spring board to give anyone grief.
All this sounds like Bushco is planning to stay in office with Paraguay as a back escape route???? just adding things up
I would love to get McCheneyCain to comment on this version of the proposal.
sorry for the brief visit but lately i’ve been so very tired. i’m sure it’s the moon phases but in any case, i’m popping off to bed.
boa noite, gente
i agree. i hope i’m around when said discussion occurs
God bless you, Selise. I know too well how wonderful sleep is for an insomniac. Good night.
there are bonus points? geez, no one told me
That is, of course, my (and everyone’s) worst nightmare. God, I wish it would go away.
Yeah well.. just try cashing them in. /s
Aloha, selise and wobbly!
At least a DFH bumper sticker? ;-)
Ya mean a nightmare with eyes wide open…. I guess if that happens we will have to follow norskies advice and “PASS the Amunition” Boy I hope it doesn’t come to that. But if we must we must…. Bushco can’t be allowed to get away with something like that :>(
Dam I resemble that! Is that what you can cash the points for??
WHATEVER IT TAKES !
I know Parguay doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the US, but does the Hague / international court need such a treaty or can they go get ‘em anywhere anytime?
Isreal grabbed Eichman without an extradition treaty.
Sanctions, baby. Sanctions.
Dude! I like how you think.
I don’t have an answer for that ?? but maybe one of FDL’s legal eagles can enlighten us?? Or maybe there will be some one like Simon Wiesenthal to go get them and bring them to justice.
You like Bush said “Wanted Dead or Alive”
AdAstra, are you in Lawrence?
Interesting Israel had to do it, not the international community.
We need help.
Dam You KNOW like Bush said “Wanted Dead or Alive”
Typically, they need permission from the host country to extradite, and Paraguay is apparently unwilling to sign up! S.A. countries have been hesitant to sign onto the I.C. and Geneva treatises… It’s a long standing standoff, that’s why the Nazis fled there…
That also occurred without their knowledge…!
A slightly more sober answer. Many European countries believe in the doctrine of “Universal Juristiction.” The Pinochet case is the paradigm for some damn fool think that he can torture people on his yacht (the Esmeralda) and then stroll about Europe. They may try him locally, or they may extradite him to the Hague.
Per Philippe Sands:
Paraguay holds elections this month, maybe they will elect a liberal./s
Already news reports of stolen primary elections persist.
It was Argentina that Mossad snagged him from too…!
And, such things could happen again.
Who would do it, the Foreign Legion…? ;-)
Amazing the court had no information.. Maybe we need to send them more!
who will be the simon wiesenthal this administration has to worry about?
Mary or Emptywheel?
Per http://www.projectcensored.org.....ry/y-2007/
Duane “Dawg” Chapman?
No part of the world is safe from this cabal…!
I like the thought of Valerie Plame and/or Gov. Siegelman
