Grab your popcorn, put your feet up on the chair back in front of you, and have fun because all the ushers have the night off. Welcome to Late Late Nite FireDogLake, where off topic is the topic, so dive in.

I noticed that if you hit the comment button first it stays in MT, if you click the main button then the comment it opens the haloscan then…
sorry jofish, residual effects from working the street and living in the sf bay area
How was the Bridal shower, Suz?
Okay, now I need some help… I was trying to get across the music of the 70s/80s to my 17 y.o. kid, and she was listening to my iPod toonage the other night while I was cooking dinner. She didn’t get it. She listened to this song and went – So?
I must live under a rock.
Suggestions for introducing her to some decent music? Hell, I thought I could do it, but maybe it’s the parent thing. Like, eeew Dad, that’s so whatever. Kids should come with instruction manuals, esp teenagers.
i just got in pictures from the shower – they were taken by jen’s step sister (and gabby’s mom) – the shower was a blast.. especially the relay.
boa noite, pups
off to go catch mr’s dj set at the club.

Nite wobbly… have fun clubbin’!
Aloha, Wobbly!
Looks like you guys had fun!
Heh, looks like it happened here in the isles… ;-)
that relay was a hoot. we had to put on the pink skirt, lei, headband and wristband, run to jen, get our picture taken, then run back to our group, strip out of the outfit and the next one put it on, ran to jen…
she’s wanting a hawaiian honeymoon ct (hint hint to mike was the theme of the party). they are planning on the honeymoon in september – after they (sob) move to oregon at the end of june.

Ouch!! I stubbed my toe, walking down the aisle. That wouldn’t have happened if the ushers didn’t have the night off…

g’nite neuro
nite neuro
Is anybody out there?
Rats. Time was when sleeplessness could always be avoided by coming here and finding some sort of party…on a Sat. night.
hey demi
Hey, Suz.
Remember when it was so busy. It was like jumping into a really busy freeway.
Times change, huh?
Suz, you’re a people watching person. Any theories?
its saturday night. they are either very busy nites here or quiet and doesn’t seem to find the middle very often.
has been a fine spring weekend up here this week marks the end of the last of the spring breaks.
i think it is just the ebb and flow of the lake, demi, sometimes we are so busy i don’t get my dinner until the wee hours when i sign off. othertimes, like tonight, was quiet.
Yep. I think some folks are burned out on politics.
This am, Christy had a difficult time getting commenters to be positive and find inspiring stories to share.
Anything new from you know who?
and we are in between primaries right now. i think a lot of people are just taking a deep breath and relaxing, enjoying the non poo flinging and all that primary season brings out.
I belive we DFH are all getting older, and the last 8 years of insanity have taken a collective toll on all of us. The poo flingung about the race between HRC and BO is also fatiguing. And the free ride McCain is getting is not inspiring in the leist either.
Hit and run post, I’m streaking…
sweet, streaking meaning ya are gonna do another dive q?
I have to get back in bed
market in a few hours
then making a couple sauces
I need sleep
been tossing and turning in bed

did you see the cat ad?
g’nite q – yes i did see it.. i liked the first one better
understandable. nightnight.
and q i think you captured it very well. its the combination of everything that has taken its toll. i’m hoping that everyone is regrouping, resting, and gathering their fight cause its going to be a nasty general, no matter who the nominees are.
“mornin’ all…anyone still up?
Yes. Combinations of a lot of stuff.
Aspects.
Many.
I’m gonna try to sleep thing again.

G’nite, Suzanne.
Ron: Strangers on ships passing each other in the nite. It’s a twofer song.
demi, demi, demi…
Goodnight, hon.
wow, vg… very nicely done. was it hard?
Hey Valley Girl!
Rapid-fire fuckery.
Nice work.
The prehensile mind of Maureen Dowd makes a stab today at bipartisan criticism. Unusually, she starts her whining by complaining that McBush is whitewashing his infamous drinking and bad temper. But she has more fun bashing Dems, equating Cindy McCain’s absurd description of St. John as a teetotaler with Obama’s struggles to give up smoking – he’s a serial litterer for tapping his ashes out the limousine window. MoDo seems as desperate to find something to bash Obama with as she is to find a date – and equally successful.
She releases her mounting frustration by revealing that Mrs. Clinton likes to kick back at the end of a long campaign day with a glass of vodka. She doesn’t mention whether she likes it shaken, not stirred.
Saving Big Bill for last, she calls him Scrooge for giving only $1 million to charity since leaving the White House, comparing it derisively with how much his income has gone up since then. If she were a reporter, she might have done the math to see whether Dick Cheney or George Bush, with significantly higher incomes for much longer, had given that much to real charities – not self-indulgent Lynn Cheney inventions – over their entire careers. Like much else the Village voices refuse to do, that might require work.
i wonder how much modo donates to charity…
Valley Girl!
Very cool video. Nice work.
To bed for me. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
g’nite rond
ok, pups, wall has been hit. been a long day and i’m fried. sorry that i wasn’t holding up my end of the conversation tonight. g’nite all and thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
nite suzanne

nite pups
Suz- tons of fuckery on the windos front, windos movie maker, which cost me about 10 hours. But, other than that, no problem! ;)
OK you guys, who put the sleeping potion in my coffee last night?
I missed Foghorn Leghorn for sleep!?
Good morning. Anyone up yet?
yea
Just me. My clock said 5:45 am wrong time. it is now 5:17am. A little tired may have to take a snooze pretty soon.
Good Morning Raven and ECAHNOMCS
Dpends on where you are, it’s 6:19 in Georgia.
You getting any rain? We’ve had a ton in the mid-Hudson region this “spring.” Was a great day yesterday, when I was inside at a retreat. I’m hoping it stays nice today so I can do some stuff outdoors.
BTW, on my recent rip to Savannah, I learned that Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi.
Texas
California! it’s 3:24am
Are you up early or late?
Up early. Did lawn work all day yesterday, so went to bed early. I am a morning person anyway. but 4:00 is a little early for even me. But a lot on the mind also.
And you jacqrat? I’d guess you haven’t gone to bed yet/
I’d like to do some gardening today. According to the weather forecast, it’s supposed to be cloudy but not rain. All I can manage is an herb garden (herbs are weeds, which is why it works for me), which takes a couple of hours to get in shape in the spring.
you are half right; I fell asleep early tonight and woke up about an hour ago for some reason… now waiting for washington journal to come on at 4.
:D morning, all
LOL: I love herbs. But I have no flower gardens just a lot of trees anda pool to keep clean. I have only lived here 3 years and still working on my house and yard. Today it trimming and lopping trees again. Then to get my granddaughter for an over nighter. We will have a good time tomorrow.
morning!
Morning selise
Do you know that Cher watches WJ every day? Amazes me when those calls come in from the West Coast, or even Alaska & Hawaii.
I have a ton of treees to lop & brush to clear, but the ground is too wet to get out my 1953 International Harvester tractor. It’d make huge ruts.
You must ave on big yard. LOL. GA has had a lot of rain lately. Is that going to help with your water problem from last fall?
I have 50 acres at my country house. About 3 are lawn & mowed paths, about 25 are fields that get bush hogged once/year (after field nesting birds are done with their broods), 10ish I’m trying to get to grow back into woods but ground seems reluctant to grow anything other than yucky bushes, and the rest is woods.
Yes, all day yesterday. It’s helped but they are going to continue this crazy county by county restriction stuff and NOBODY knows what’s going on!
Yes I saw her call about the helmet – thinger that day. The invention someone made to prevent brain injuries – but teh pentagon couldn’t be bothered to pay the .34 cents or whatever per helmet to install them…
I saw George Clooney on The Daily Show recently, he felt Foghorn Leghorn sounds just like James Carville… …worse than a Rethug!
Good Morning All!
As some folks know, my bride is a fanatic gardener with a broken leg, I’ve been here 23 years and spring in GA never fails to blow me away, It’s amazing. . .but you can’t breathe!
James Carville as Foghorn Leghorn is iffy. But you know Joe LIEberman does the voice of Droopy Dawg?
CU ya’ll the pups are ready to go.
Yeah, I saw that too. Was amazed. Especially since the host recognized her voice. Raised her reputation a lot in my opinion.
“Senator Droopy from Guadalupe” has a nice ring to it.
Why can’t you breathe? Allergies?
I watch the Journal every morning with my cuppa. It’s really good. It seems that Lamb has a little Repug in him. Some of hte programing is Iffy.
Good morning, all – it’s 24 and cloudy here in Upstate New York.
Oy. Not exactly spring. In the mid-Hudson it was sunny & high of 55 yesterday, but today cloudy & mid-40s expected. Better than you, but not great.
That is patently unfair to Droopy.
That I can see. We could only wish Holy Joe had a job like that where he could do minimal damage to the world.
Agree that some of the CSPAN programming is pretty wingnut. On their presidential library series, they devoted the same amount of time to FDR as to Herbert Hoover. Seemed mighty biased to me.
And vastly overestimates Joes efficacy.
Droopy is a good guy who always comes out ahead.
If Joe is held in any esteem after November I will seriously short-circuit.
Hey, I know what spring is: when it stops raining ice. We’ve had more ice this year than I can ever remember. Can everyone spell ‘global warming’? Yesterday here we had some drizzly rain and it only got as high as 48 in the afternoon when it cleared. My plan today is to get my indoor work done this morning and get my training ride in this afternoon when it’s warmer and better.
Various groups have to lobby to have C-span cover their events, just like any other news outlet. The right-wingers have always been a more organized bunch. I think C-span really tries to be fair and balanced. Ok, time for the show! Seeyas.
While you were sleeping, I thought I this little off topic last night. Roaming thoughts on the sadness of our Pres and having a “retarded” one (really, probably brain damage). How ironic that James Baker went so ardently to work in Florida to get W elected; some favor to his old friend..GHW, etc. He was truly sent in to be the big gun Lawyer, statesman, hatchet man. Well, he got what he wanted. W won by screwing over the recount rules and doing whatever to Katherine Harris. And W has continued to embarass them all, including rejecting the 911 Commission and calling the sophisticated Sec. Baker JIMMY every chanch he gets. JIMMY: I wonder if anyone else really calls him that or if it’s one more of W’s names like Kenny Boy. Just thinking. What a bad, dumb choice Jimmy blessed us with; got just what he wanted from his hardball tactics. Please. Is there a lesson here?
W got a smackdown from Gail Fosler, formerly economist at Conference Board, now its prez. At W’s NYC economics speech a month or so ago, she was the second questioner. W joshed in his usual ham-handed way with the first questioner (forget who it was), including using some jerky nickname. When Gail’s turn came up, the first thing she said was: “I’m sure glad you don’t know me, Mr. President.”
Good morning, everyone.
“No one could have foreseen” will be the legacy of this administration in all its phases.
Good morning.
The person in the pack who gets to insult the others without any pushback is the bully. W has been spoiled all of his life; he’s never lived with any sort of pushback – calling others insulting nicknames pushes them down and raises him up.
Bully he is, no doubt about it. And the way to deal with a bully is to smack him down. But you’re right. No one has even done that to W.
eCAHN,
I enjoy your comments so much. I wonder if you would consider blogging about economics
Good morning. Cloudy and chilly here too. But 1 week from today, I’ll wake up to a beautiful Myrtle Beach sunrise and (hopefully) a glorious sunny day.
Thanks for asking, but the truthful answer is that I’m too lazy. I don’t mind contributing what I learned over the years of practicing economics. But to actually write a post, I’d have to find links and back up what I say with evidence. The time it would take me to do that, I’d rather spend learning something I don’t already know.
One of my thoughts about this whole mess is: Did they understand what they were getting when they allowed Dick Cheney to name himself vice president? They obviously knew that Junya was an empty suit and were amenable to putting someone with him who would “hold his hand”. I’m not sure they understood what they were getting in Dick, unless they were willing to sacrifice the country if it meant putting people like themselves into positions of power.
I loved Senator Chafee’s comment yesterday about Vice. When asked to explain Cheney’s dark view of life, Chaffee said something like he wasn’t a psychoanalst, so he couldn’t begin to interpret Cheney.
Yes, I was reading along with everyone else; I thought his comment about how much Cheney seemed to need to kill when he hunts vs. how much a limit is was very telling.
As for Bush and his insulting names: He reminds me a bit of my brother. Bro’s not a bully and doesn’t insult you, but he does enter a room with a joke. Life of the party, really witty guy. But, knowing him as well as I do, I know it’s an insecurity thing. He uses the jokes when he doesn’t have anything to contribute to a discussion. It wears thin after awhile. You begin to realize that the jokes aren’t just frosting on the cake, there is no cake.
We were in a meeting once when my brother was asked a serious question about a management issue. He replied with a witty remark. The questioner responded something like “I guess you don’t know”. Once you’ve been found out, the jokes cease to be amusing.
Where was this conversation with Chafee? What did I miss?
He was on book salon yesterday afternoon. A really good interchange, I thought.
Here’s the link.
http://firedoglake.com/2008/04…..-the-tide/
Oh, damn, I see that now. Damn, damn, damn. I would have loved to be in on that live. Going to go read.
Mornin’ all!
Good morning twolf.
Well, we’ll just enjoy reading your comments here, then.;)
Talking Heads upstairs…
Hi eCHAN *waves*
*waving back.*
Actually, Foghorn Leghorn’s voice and character are based on Senator Claghorn, Kenny Delmar’s characterization of a loud, over-the-top, southern Senator in Fred Allen’s Allen’s Alley. So overacting is sort of the point.
