It is funny how we tend to confuse prediction with fact. The same prediction was made about Vietnam (the similarities between Vietnam and Iraq are astounding)if you are old enough to recall. We were told if we left Vietnam other Asian nations would come under communist influence. It was a so-called domino theory.

The recent excursion into Basra demonstrates the Iraqis are not totally stupid. Revenge is high on their list which means an American withdrawal means people will get killed. My prediction is things will settle down sooner rather than later. No one, contemplating Vietnam, ever dreamed seven to ten years later they’d be making Nike sneaks for us to buy. Chances are, Lieberman’s prediction of doom is equally incorrect, but no matter. It is a chance we must take.

You can lie all you want, but John McCain clearly said he was prepared for us to have American troops in Iraq for the “next hundred years.” You can claim he misspoke as he did in Jordan when you had to whisper in his ear that Iran was not training “al-Queda” as he said, but rather, Shiite “extremists”. Big difference. And this bozo is supposed to be a “foreign policy” expert? And he doesn’t know the difference between Sunnis and Shias? He’s as dangerously idiotic as George W. Bush himself.
