I also remember the beginning of W’s first term when the Chinese forced down one of our planes (that happened to be spying on them). Bush rattled his sabre pretty hard until he got a call from his uncle (Prescott?). Seems his uncle was in China on behalf of the US Chamber of Commerce, and the Chinese walked out of the meeting after the incident. Bush backed down the retoric real fast.
