Jane has graciously given me a guest post to inform the FDL community that Blue America candidate Darcy Burner, co-author of the Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq, will be in Los Angeles on April 9th, and I’m helping to organize a netroots-themed fundraiser for her that evening!
We all love Darcy Burner for the leadership she has shown on Iraq, FISA and net neutrality, but getting to meet in person is a very special treat. It’s only $25 to attend, and the event is being hosted at the home of Rick Jacobs, founder of the Courage Campaign.
It’s a very low-dollar event–just $25 to get to meet a wonderful candidate who represents one of our best pickup opportunities this cycle.
To RSVP for the event and make your contribution, just go to the ActBlue page I’ve created for the event.
We’ll not only have Darcy there, but also quite a few of the more prominent local L.A. bloggers as well, so it’s a great meet-and-greet opportunity. And don’t forget: if you want to attend, RSVP and make your contribution ASAP, since today is the Q1 fundraising deadline!
See you on the 9th!
Here’s a video of Darcy talking about the Responsible Plan at the Take Back America conference:
And here’s Darcy talking about the "bad" FISA bill passed last year:

Darcy!
Dang it! I lost my zed to this post!
Haven’t I been here before?
Where did my comment go?
We are all hopelessly lost. There was an EW thread shown that never came up. I’m pretending that I know what I’m doing……..
The weirdness continues. I tried to Digg this post, and the link took me to the Digg page for the Who’s Writing McCain’s Material? post…
Sorry about the weirdness, but the post had to be deleted and re-edited. So, the weirdness is only temporary, and has to do with my own personal ineptness. I humbly beg your forgiveness.
It’s fine. Glad to have you here.
Welcome to the Lake! I love the plan that was unveiled at TBA!
Sonja: Boris, Let me show you how absurd your position is. Let’s say there is no God, and each man is free to do exactly as he chooses. What prevents you from murdering somebody?
Boris: Murder’s immoral.
Sonja: Immorality is subjective.
Boris: Yes, but subjectivity is objective.
Sonja: Not in a rational scheme of perception.
Boris: Perception is irrational. It implies imminence.
Sonja: But judgment of any system of phenomena exists in any rational, metaphysical or epistemological contradiction to an abstracted empirical concept such as being, or to be, or to occur in the thing itself, or of the thing itself.
Boris: Yeah, I’ve said that many times.
oops, wrong subject :)
Good luck Darcy! We need many more like her, please.
Go Darcy!
I’m trying to envision “netroots-themed fundraiser” decorations . . .
Computer mice dangling from the ceiling?
A disco ball made from old CD-ROMs?
A laptop-shaped cake?
3.5 inch floppies for coasters?
Whatever it looks like, I’m sure there will be lots and lots of Blue.
Good work, hekebolos.
I hope you guys have a great time. I’ve seen you in action before, you’re a party animal.
;)
OT
When one woman refers to another woman as a “Hard Place”…
Wish I could be there but I have to get by with just living in her district. As a leader, she is light years ahead of Deputy Dawg Reichert.
On a side note, one of the networks is running a made-for-tv movie about the Green River Killer, Reichert’s dubious claim to fame. Of course it shows him in a far too opportunistic light, you could call it CSI: Auburn, WA. The movie gives him loads of credit he doesn’t deserve, and glazes over the fact that Ridgway, the killer, was the focus for years before they got around to charging him.
As a lawman, Dave Reichert was more Barney Fife than Barney Miller.
