now that our guest is gone

i have held back from saying, but am now going to say, if i could wave my magic wand and get rid of a phrase from the english language, it would be–

joe six pack

i think it is the white equivalent of the ’n’ word and the sexist ’c’ word.

i wish it would go away.

jan, or anyone who would know-

have any of the justices ever stated why they wanted to be on the court?

why they said yes?

a lot to consider in saying yes.

Thanks very much–and thank all of you who referred to that O’Connor post, “Choice.” I’ve been thinking about exploring that bit more, so if you all have any thoughts you’d like to share, please do so on my blog, Legalities. It would be great to continue this conversation.
As for other legal blogs, there are quite a few I read every day, but I always start with these two:

How Appealing

whispering….(christy at 66, and my 92, christy, just occurred to me, was brought up around business people, lawyers, prosecutors, etc., people whose bread and butter depends on ’getting along’ and they didn’t donate to the republican rulers in our county/state….that’s why your answer didn’t occur to me, i already pulled them up on newsmeat.com by zip code, and the dems, they didn’t donate any money to repubs, even though they were and still are in power there. boehner country…their money goes to the arts, community foundations, etc., have discussed this over the years with many, that you can tell who is associated with whom in ’h’ by what ’sponsored by’ brochure they are listed in……they aren’t listed as a repub donator anywhere……..so, am going to have to keep that thought of yours as a yes/no/maybe. : ))
