Oh, Yes. I remember that people didn’t like oleo because it was too white so they put a little yellow button of coloring in it so you could stir it and make it more yellow. I thought that was funny even back then. We had black shades on all the windows. I lived in the country so any light stood out - people didn’t even use flashlights. I also remember movie stars traveling around the country on trains to sell war bonds - one came through my town.

Do you remember oleo, victory gardens, black outs, meat rationing, scrap metal drives…and on and on? My mother worked for the Red Cross and used to write letters back home for wounded GIs. My dad was civil service auditor and traveled to bases in La, Tex, New Mexico. He had a poster in his office that said “Loose lips sink ships”. Our school had bandage wrapping classes.

I hope, if ever the mood so strikes you, that you might share with us.

I can claim but sixty-one times around the sun, and would truly appreciate your thoughts and insights.

Perspective, like ‘location’ is everything when it comes to understanding.

Wow! I salute you and your youthful, hopeful, and considered sensibilites.

I get that from RezieFrisherwhats his name. I like Obama but I would have voted for any of the other dems as well. I don’t trust her one bit. Here’s the deal. I, in good conscience, couldn’t vote for her but I encourage everyone else to. That work?

I am almost 75 and was 8 years old when WW2 started. I remember so much of it - Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt speaking to the nation, etc. I remember gas and sugar rationing, women had no hose, you couldn’t get tires. Lots of doing without.
