Jane described this comment as "narcissistic callousness." I think it’s far worse than that. I think it qualifies as "wilful and wanton disregard" for life. When you take a moment to consider that we’ve been "governed" for the past seven years by a cabal of sociopaths, everything really comes into focus. Move over, Ed Gein and Ted Bundy – whether it’s soldiers’ lives or war profiteering, BushCo knows from killing!
These people are mad as hatters. After all, how can we forget such heart-warming, Norman Rockwellian moments such as the interview George and Laura gave Peggy "Magic Dolphins" Noonan about 9/11:

These people know from suffering! Remember Ann Curry’s tongue-bathing of Laura Bush? Our Lady of Perpetual Dress Barn marked the solemnity of 3,300 dead soldiers with a measured and thoughtful response:
"[N]o one suffers more than their President and I do."
So we shouldn’t be surprised that Dick Cheney, the reigning Prince of Darkness, (1) makes a comment like that, while simultaneously (2) wriggling out of taking any of the blame for the Iraq War. It’s hard to be empathetic without a conscience.

After watching two hours of Frontline, I asked Mr. CE “what new information did you learn here tonight, that you didn’t before?” He pretty much said that the power-mad Rumsfeld holding back help for the CIA that first month. I said that I didn’t know that Scooter wrote Powell’s UN speech (although I did know that Powell had altered it). I think that I learned a great deal of the Frontline information presented, here on FDL.

Gawd, hell if I know. What I do know is that they will use the Kyl/Lieberman bill as justification to attack Iran, and Petreaus has set this up…that they attacked the Green Zone. This is worse than the build up to Iraq, because they have already made the assumption that the AUMF for Iraq granted them the legal status to attack Iraq and they will use the Kyl/Lieberman bill to further their “authority”. They will do it whenever they see fit and claim authority to do so, whenever it suits them.
They believe they are legally protected to progress their GWOT whenever and however they see fit. They will do it. We won’t know until it has begun.

There will never be peace with the Islamic World if there is no justice. The hypocritical “War on Terror” is one of the most blatant war crimes in the modern era. Only when the perpetrators of the crime are brought to justice, will we and our friends and families know peace. Our constitution provides us the right to impeach; but that in itself does not go far enough. Even if we impeached Bush, and he retired to a life of obscurity, on the golf course, that would not be justice. There must be a trial in a transparent court, where the world will see the wrongs that have been committed.
The Green Zone in one big fat target in the heart of Baghdad. I am sure that some fanatic will declare a holy war and unleash a torrent of rocket fire into that fortified place. It is not unimaginable that tens of thousands small rockets have not been smuggled into Baghdad and are already aimed at our embassy. Just waiting on Sadr to give the word. CAN YOU BLAME THEM?? I know I wouldn’t want some foreign power setting up a fortified zone in my fair city. There is no way out at this point, except to arrest the criminals, try them in public and let justice be done.
