Yogi Bear staring in a Hanna-Barbera Production of Booby Trapped Bear.
As always, this is Late Late Nite FDL, where off topic is the topic so chime in.
zed!
Suzanne!
Hi Suzanne
everyone keep an eye on your pick a nick baskets
suz!
Toons!
It must be Saturday!
Heh, heh, Boo-Boo…! ;-)
whatever it is, yogi, the ranger isn’t gonna like it
When this series of cartoons were on air…. my father worked for the US Forest Service…. working to deal with bears who had their taste of human food, trapping them and transporting them out into the wide hoping to save the bears life…
OMG…. a US Air plane lost part of a wing panel….
that air force wing story on your local news?
Suzanne!!!
LOOHOO, left you an answer in the previous thread.
Yep…. been working around the house and trying to catch up on the doings… the wing panel fell off and landed somewhere over MD…. Feel safe flying?
First there is SW Airlines and now US Air with parts falling off…
i posted the FAA losing radar for northern california in the news box a wee bit ago….
Yogi Bear on TV, right after Rocky and Bullwinkle. Another launch from Cape Kennedy, as this was the Space Age. I Dream of Jeanie a little later.
And everything was aquamarine.
I didn’t realize how short all the legs are on these characters when I was a kid!!
Sandewiches…
tis cause we were short when we were kids loohoo
still haven’t found any good rocky and bullwinkle yet – just bits and pieces on utube
Since Yogi is up top here is a WaPo story on the lack of endangered species listings under the Bushies:

Couldn’t the link to work properly
Oh jeez. Thank goodness i’m taking the train to chicago in may instead of flying(once i’m out of my current pickle. I may not be spending a lot once i get there–but i’ll be there with my friends and having fun.) Cheaper than driving and relaxing, really. It’s why i’d give and keep giving money to get a large light rail network all over the US. I’d be going everywhere on it. I prefer rail to driving by a long shot! Flying’s fun, but pricey. Now add scarily unsafe to the mix. Yikes.
Showing weather report for all that snow in WI and other areas…..we had a high of 87…. do we fell guilty for having Easter dinner out by the pool on the patio…. nope..
link works fine – i’ve got that one in the que to go into the news box – thanks
Q, how will you market the book? Once you start, seriously, put it in a safety deposit box. You would kick yourself to the moon if it were stolen or destroyed in a fire or something.
Do you remember the pilots falling asleep while enroute to Hilo, they flew past Hilo for twenty minutes until the air traffic controllers could wake ‘em up! The controllers were pissed at the military because they’d requested a fighter to check it out…
Q you can take it to a reputable auction house, such as sothebys or christies, and have them take a look at it – if it is really worth something, they will tell ya and try to get ya to let them handle the details for you (for a commission of course)
its ringing a bell – they had the plane on autopilot and both fell asleep….
I’ve found a couple of serious collectors over here. If anyone here knows of some heavy duty rich folks, let them know and point them to me… The book is in a fireproof box in here, thanks for the advice.
Q, FWIW, Suzanne @24 is right on-Sotheby’s or Christie’s know who to call. Congratulations.
Alright, apparently we have a friend here who is shy.
Luckluckboy went through the trouble of DIGGing
this post but nary a peep on the thread.
Come on out all you soon to be former lurkers!
Suzanne, I’ve already talked to two of the best auction houses in the states, one in LA, one in Dallas. They’re salivating to get it to auction, and with what they said to me, what I’ve been researching, I’ve a pretty good idea of how much I’ll ask. I’m not to keen to fly it to the states. I’ll see what happens here first.
Yesterday, my local rag had a story about them begging for them to scramble a fighter to check it out… One of ‘em grumbled; “After 9/11, you’d think they’d be more responsive…” The military completely blew ‘em off! Bwhahaha…
most excellent EPU:

thanks rond. my mom had an old tapestry that hung on the wall when i was a kid. when i grew up and moved to sf, she had me take it down to butterfield and butterfield and they sadly informed me it was mass marketed after wwi and may be worth something in another hundred years or so.
thanks busted
hahahahaha thanks newton
rocket fire into the green zone
Suzanne is right, contact the top auction places. Don’t give them a price, let them tell you what it’s worth. They get their cut, so they’ll want top dollar too. Heck, a rich Saudi could buy this. What kind of business are you going to start?
anyone in the mood for some lucinda?
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
I could have went all week without that.
I recently met my twenty year old niece for the first time since she was a little baby.
That’s where she is at right now.
Fuck.
fuck – i’m so sorry busted. i’ll keep my eyes open for updates for you
In that cartoon, the ranger cuts down a tree and also causes an anvil to fall on Yogi’s head! That’s not very nice! :)
She’s serving in the military? In the green zone?
Love Yogi and BooBoo. Thanks, Suz.;)
Photography, business plan is done. No weddings… With an eye on doing ehhibition in a couple of years, the artist in me is screaming to get out there. But, don’t worry, I’ll do the more mondane stuff to survive at first.
Gah! Busted. Not good.
Shit.
Good thoughts, busted
Yep.
There was a rocket attack there not too long ago, right when she was in transit back there and nobody heard from her for a fucking week.
My family was in panic for awhile.
Round two tomorrow.
I hate George Bush and Dick Cheney with a white hot rage.
twas one of the less violent ones, rz. most cartoons are very very violent.
thanks margot
Oh, Busted…all best thoughts headed your way.
Thoughts are with you and your niece. Sucks…
Thanks guy’s, it’s in God’s hands.
Very sorry to hear that. Do the troops have any ability to email out or contact their families? How do they communicate with her?
busted, i’m not seeing anything about casualties in any of the foreign media – will continue to scour em looking for word.
I’d put it right on Bush’s hands, Busted. White hot rage is for sure. Hate.
Oh, Busted… please keep us up to date. Hugs.
That’s what I did last time, fuck the American Media.
Time for me to hit the hay. Getting up for sunrise, going to an abandonned drive-in to take a few pics.
Thanks for the nice words folks, fun evening.
nightnight.
g’night, Quebecois. Thanks for sharing your book with us.
g’nite q
Nothing at the NYT online. Nothing at WaPo.
fuckers
Nite all… Monday they say it will be 90 degrees…. wow… it is only March… it usually increases 10 degrees per month until we hit the fun month of 115 degrees everyday… at this rate it will be in May…. two months early
g’nite katymine
Busted, I hope she’s ok. I’ll send good thoughts too.
People, Alabama’s 2nd congressional district has a progressive candidate! Cheryl Sabel, president of Alabama’s NOW chapter has entered the race. There are already 6 republicans in the race, and Montgomery mayor Bobby Bright (d) is in as well. A lot of us think Bright has blue dog leanings, and we want a real progressive. Cheryl has signed on to the Responsible Plan to End the War (yes!), is already getting some good media, and has an Act Blue page. Please feel free to donate if you want to help us elect a progressive democrat to congress.
I had to go back through my deleted emails (Eat shit Rove)
to find this link that someone sent me for a great news source .
You won’t see ANY of this from the MSM.
Bookmark this link.
evin-ing all
does anyone know where to look for the comings and goings of navy vessels? and has there been a big natural disaster somewhere that i may not have heard of?
the reason i ask is this: an in-laws in-law has just shipped out on the uss mercy(hospital ship) last week. volunteer. he was supposed to be shore-based for a while, just having returned from sea duty on the lincoln last year.
tinfoil hat time but i’m thinkin’ casualties!
Nothing there about rockets into the green zone, busted.
I wonder if Rob Zuber is around…
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg…..43-109.stm
I wonder if her Hubby will vote for Obama…!
thanks for the link, busted. Nothing but good thoughts, prayers and positive energy your niece’s way and your way as well.
boa noite, pups gonna try and finish watching this movie and then hit the hay. hopefully the choc bunnies are safe in their green plastic grass beds and not nibbling on my croissants rising for tomorrow
g’nite wobbly
Felix, here’s the page on the ship, but I don’t see a current update.
‘night, wobbly.
all i’m finding so far is just what the bbc has which is the same as what reuters has busted.
Kerry has endorsed Obama, CTuttle. As has Kennedy and Leahy.
I just want the primaries over and the whole ‘who’ matter resolved so we can be united in making sure mcsame does not win the general.
Oh cool! As Loo Hoo mentioned, Kerry endorsed Obama. Of course, Kerry can’t vote in PA. :) Good to see his wife saying so publicly, though.
Yogi Bear is a terrorist?
Wasn’t it Yogi who the Forest Service built ads around, saying stuff like “Only you can prevent forest fires”? That would be along the lines of “Only you can prevent catastrophic flood damage from levee breeches,” wouldn’t it?
So obviously he’s a Republican, right? WTF?
Bob in HI
I wasn’t sure about Kerry, I knew about Leahy and Teddy, heh, Teddy is extremely passionate about him…! Never knew he still had it in him…! ;-)
I’ will talk to my brother tomorrow, it’s damn near impossible to get any real time news.
She has a MySpace page and that is one way to communicate or at least see if she is alright, ya just have to wait for her to post something.
Back! Sent my inquiry to Sotheby’s.
Can’t sleep.
that was smokey the bear
I just want the primaries over
At least wait until after I vote. :)
I do not expect Obama to win my state. I know it is a month away, but Senator Clinton is supported by a large number of PA politicians and the “Alabama” portion of PA is probably going to vote for her.
Yer thinking of Smokey the Bear.
That would be Smokey, Bob!
fingers and toes crossed that no news right now is good news
(dousing Bob with bucket of water)
No! That was Smokey the Bear, authoritarian that he was…Yogi was jes’ stickin’ it to the Man!
speaking of smokey, how is hawaii’s mover and shaker doing? still erupting?
Yes! I’ve been a Clinton fan, and voted for her, but I’m sure loving Obama these days. (As well as being pissed at the Clinton campaign.)
That was Smokey the Bear.
Booboo wears a bow tie. Just sayin’
What’s this I’ve been hearing about smoking a bear???
Never mind.
ya think booboo was ranger’s smith’s snitch?
spew
That’s great, Quebecois..you just know they have a whole mailing list of people who can write checks in scientific notation.
Alright!! Must be New York and London, not LA and Dallas. Much more international. Whoo Hoo!!! You must promise to report to us what you finally sell it for. Don’t forget Christy’s. Make them compete.
Madame Pele has been erupting continuously since 1992, but, sometimes just a tad more than usual. These past few days she’s given us a little more than usual…! ;-0
and you are not in a flow zone?
Yeah, I’ll do Christy tomorrow…
Hehehe.
My daughters will be on the big Isle with their dad this week, CTuttle!
Only if Mauna Loa erupts…! Kilauea is on the other side of Mauna Loa from Hilo!
I miss Gilda, she was the coolest comedian ever.
Are they staying on the Kona side?
me too.. she was great
ya think booboo was ranger’s smith’s snitch?
Yogi got arrested in that cartoon, but not booboo! Hmmmm….
I’m not sure. It’s a timeshare dealio.
glad i was not the only one who noticed that (snicker snicker)
Q, I want to go study that album some more. Do you remember the number you linked it at?
http://picasaweb.google.com/pi…..-pRfMfzuk0
Wow! Frank Rich has changed his opinion on Obama too. I’m not alone.
Lots to see and do around the Isle, I recommend the volcano and Waipio Valley, two separate day trips…
loohoo, i gotta tell you how much i have admired you during this trying primary season. i know how steadfastly you stood by hillary and know that this has to have been hard for you. i’ve admired how you have not let this personality driven for you and how you refused to get involved in the poo fights.
thank you.
Fuckin’ A – what Suzanne said.
A voice of calm and sanity here, Loo Hoo.
Thank you very much!
Did anyone hear about the crash of a 1.2-billion-dollar B-2 Spirit stealth bomber about a month ago? Am I the only one who missed this?
(((Loo Hoo)))
i remember seeing it
Maybe we didn’t spend enough.
I heard something about it. The fleet’s like 20 years old now. I’ve not heard hide no hair about a replacement vehicle for that, and they’re retiring the even older Stealth Fighters.
I was wondering what the circumstances of the crash was, pilot error or if it was a degradation of daily repair/maintanance(sp?) issue. The way things have been going, i’m inclined towards the latter.
Frank Rich has changed his opinion on Obama too.
Was there another candidate he liked?
after following the link, yeah, i heard about and then forgot about it.
the piano has been drinking on suz’s kpig!
Off to watch the Grand-Prix.
nightnight again.
Great video, Suzanne. Family secret unveiled – one of my son’s nicknames – “Boobo Bear.”
dirty boogie rocks (laughing) so glad unkle sherman is back from his sabbatical. i was jonesin big time during his return.
Update to story:
http://news.google.com/news/ur…..YN_sYLo_hw
hey et – my little sister was called bug – of course, now that i am older, i make a point of calling her that every chance i get (laughing – she runs the garden center at the store)
that’s good news.. i’ll email it off to busted in case he is not here
kpig is the only radio on my toolbar, however i don’t listen often enough to be familiar with the station personalities.
felix, sherman is the gravelly voiced guy doing dirty boogie (airing now) martin, the midnight guy, did some filling in when sherman was gone but he could not dirty boogie like sherman does.
that was supposed to be a reply to suz’s 122. ooops!
As someone who watches the hardware issues, I can’t believe I missed it.
The F-117 needs to be retired. It was solved by the Serbs, oh, 8 or 9 years ago…the next time they go up against a REAL anti-aircraft network, they could be slaughtered. The F-22 and F-35 are much more capable.
this current tune is weeerd!
think santa cruz.. one toke over the line.. must be a 420 moment
i was reefering to the fishy song :)
check out the lyrics – songwriter must be kin to pun
and there are so many of them, eh…?
Geez, Q. Tomorrow I’ll look at the names that you couldn’t read. Being an elementary school teacher, I’m pretty good at reading poor handwriting. But this list (just the first go round) is incredible.
Joan Crawford
Will Rogers
Marlene Deidrich
Gloria Swanson
Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
Al Johnson
Gary Cooper
Mary Astor
Mary Pickford
Amelia Ehrhart
Will Rogers
Loretta Young
B. Warner (Warner Brothers?)
Buster Keaton
Laurel and Hardy
Margueritte Churchhill (any relation?)
Unfreakingbelievable.
I just caught it, Thanks a bunch.
I’m bailing out, Gnite y’all.
Evolution? It’s really about getting to know Obama. I respect this guy so much. Hillary has behaved as though she wants to be McCain’s BFF, and it pisses me off.
Ahhhhh…
It’s back. Watching Malaysian Grand Prix pre-race.
i was thinking that, and my own comment w/reefer-ing-reef-ering!!
g’nite busted
nite busted
duh! totally missed that (laughing)
What’s another $1.2 billion? Didn’t have any other uses for it, did we? Pocket change.
but,but… i’m no punaise!
Rich was in the Hillary camp.
neither am i – that song helped me out in the fish punfests of old
yeah…falling out of our ears.
BTW, did you know-
George W. Bush authorized on Wednesday arms supplies to Kosovo, saying it would “strengthen the security of the United States and promote world peace”
Arming people always does that. Lookout.
for the Bushies that’s like leaving a penny in the gutter.
What, Brewer and Shipley’s old tune…?
yeap, was played on kpig
Do you have a link to kpig?
the pig for ct
the song before that was titled “Wet Dream”, it was about fishes and other aquatic life:)
real dj’s create interesting playlists (laughing) they are one of the few still using real dj’s instead of a computer generated list.
hey ct, what years were you in the sevice? were you ever involved with Project Alpha?
i hear ya suz. my own local dfh station kvnf does the same.
Mahalo, Suz!
where is that, felix? west of the mississippi by the call letters
‘85-’05, hadn’t heard of project alpha inparticular…!
yes. paonia, co.
co is beautiful country – took a vacation as a teen with my mom and siblings and we stayed a couple days in glenwood springs. gorgeous.
huge multi-year testing program. mostly combat arms. you would have enlisted right in the middle of it.
my sister lives near glenwood. i’m sw of there in montrose.
now those nsa shits really know where i’m at. damn :)
Testing what? I lived in Thornton for a year…
honey, they already knew…. that reminds me, has anyone taken our handlers some hot cocoa to keep them warm on this brisk spring night? helps keep their nsa trucks off our tubes :)
suz, my BiL told me this evening that he and his daughter hiked up the mtn. to check out Doc Holiday’s grave in the glenwood cem. and when they got to the top the was a sign that said: Doc Holiday is buried somewhere near here.
so he is buried near you instead of them?
G’nite ya’ll, Happy Easter! Aloha Oe!!!
nite tuttle
testing job knowledge/performance. it was a huge research project involving thousands of GI’s. the main aim was to develop the means to get recruits into the right jobs. happy in their job, stay in longer. I tested tankers, 11bulletstops, MP’s, cannoncockers and truckdrivers at Ord, Riley, Benning, Stewart and in FRG for two months in ‘88.
aloha ct and happy easter
they don’t know where he is buried but he died in glenwood but was supposedly buried in the glenwood cemetery.
so the sign literally said ’somewhere around here’ not that he was buried up near your town. dayam fonts do not do voice inflection well (laughing)
in the tourist brochures for glenwood they say Doc was buried in the town cemetery but you don’t find out until you climb to top of the hill that there is no specific gravesite!!
Hmmm… I was in FRG in ‘88 with a Patriot Bn. in Dexheim Kasserne and we were deployed around K-town, Bitburg, Spangdahlem… It was great… *poof*
got it (laughing) i was blonde as a child and it sometimes catches up with me
‘night Tuttle-and all. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
nite ct.
Hey, let’s arm DC residents.
Oh wait, somehow that’s different, or so I hear. Wonder why?
. . .
i sure wish there was a utube for this song
have missed most of it. was out with the cutest dog in the world Emmy(lou) 23.99lb. weight class:)
what kinda cute is emmy(lou)? token has set the bar pretty high yanno
emmy(lou) is a terrier type mutt. straight-on she looks like Lon Cheney Jr. as the Wolfman!
with that description cutest might not be absolutely accurate!
laughing.. token is a terrier/lhasa apso mutt. the picture of him that is my avitar was taken the day i got him at 8 weeks. he was 2lbs 4oz and fit into the palm of my hand when sitting. ya can really see the yorkie influence in that pic but his body is more scottie (both in his genes)
emmy was a rescue pooch. she’s ten now and goofy. got her when she not quite a year old and no one knows where she came from or what happened to her in that 1st yr. she has some odd behaviors.
i understand completely the lon cheney reference. if token doesn’t get his hair regularly trimmed, he becomes a fluffy furball with short legs sticking out from under the fluff as he runs down the lane. he’s getting his summer haircut (so short he looks like a dog again) in april.
Dickinscider. that was good!
martin plays some wild comedy on the midnight shift (laughing) the next one is just as funny. i hear it live – online has about a 3 minute delay (but no commercials other than the fake ones)
emmy gets a haircut and her legs are so skinny it’s embearassing:)
perhaps a pet brag post will help bring out some of the lurkers. i’m still chewing on how to do that post.
bragging about pets is worse that bragging about grandchildren!
everybody knows it’s nolo contendre. nothing can compete with token.
i’m still grandchildless but when the lovely bride to be gets married in may, her man comes with two lovely girls and i instantly gain two pre-teen granddaughters.
those who have seen him can verify that he works on being cute and he works the fact he is cute.
like aunts and uncles gramma’s get to spoil them without repercussion:)
i’ve seem photos and i can believe that.
got any photos of emmy(lou)
dogs are the world’s greatest opportunists.
Yeah, and he plays it for all he’s worth! :-)
no digital camera. so no way to upload ‘em. plus i’d have figure out how to do that. i’m a luddite.
Wow! Congratulations, grandma! Names and ages?
newton, i’ve seen him run up to deer and cats, tail waggin with his body in that half curl hey i’m cute fake shy pose that he does with people.
oh fork. i knew someone would ask me…
Loo Hoo said below…
You’re right, the oil. They’re still thinking that the Iraqis are stupid people, and will be happy to turn over their oil. Look at the mess they have created. When do the war crimes trials begin? Just after the impeachment hearings?
Thought it worth repeating on Easter Sunday to our christian fiends. One million Iraqi christians were driven from their “homeland” by a christian country! What happened to turn the other check and all that christian forgiveness? Wasting ot on Bush/Cheney Nancy?
I believe it.
Once he became convinced I wasn’t packing food in my pocket, i expected him to play indifferent.
But no – he plans ahead, and hung out the cute-sign for the duration.
here they are loohoo
cuties!!
loohoo, this is from when the girls were down last summer
Happy Easter, bigbrother.
OK, they are great!
skippy had a post up yesterday that talked about how so many religions consider this weekend holy.
They are too cute, Suz!!! It will be hard not to spoil them, but tough you must be. Well maybe not. That must be the joy everyone says comes with being the grandparent. You do get to spoil them! So happy for you, Suz.
They seem really in love. Hope you approve of the future son-in-law. He sure seems to adore your daughter.
they are going to be flower girls in the wedding and their dresses are too too cute. don’t have a link for them but they have a cream organza overlay that has embroidered flower buds on it and flouncy ruffle along the off the shoulder neckline (and spagetti straps), sashed waistline and the pale orange and pale green is in the embroidery. alicia, jen’s stepsister found the dresses at penny’s and they were only $45 each – she also found a similar dress for her baby, gabby, to wear for the reception.
mike is a great guy. he is a coastie and retires later this year. they are going to move up near beaverton, oregon near where mike’s family is.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Kristof and Rich in the NYT today. MoDo’s column is titled “Haunting Obama’s Dreams,” and she says if Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi are the dealmakers, it won’t take Hercule Poirot to figure out who had knives out for Hillary Clinton. Mr. Kristof writes about the clusterf*ck in Iraq and points out that the improvement in Iraq amounts to casualty rates that have decreased to the unacceptable levels of 2005, no exit plan for years and a bill accumulating at almost $5,000 per second. Mr. Rich writes about “The Republican Resurrection” and says that for Republicans, the prospect of marathon Democratic trench warfare is an Easter miracle.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and so is the Easter breakfast of ham, scrambled eggs, grits and biscuits. I’m here early today because I’ve got to be vested and ready to sing in choir at 5:30 for the Easter Vigil mass. Happy Easter! Have a joyous day.
g’morning marion and thank you for breakfast.
enjoy your day
happy easter marion
good morning Marion!
now i’m hungry… grrrr
What will they do in Oregon, workwise? Nice they will be near family.
Yummy breakfast, Marion. Thanks, and Happy Easter! I’m sure your choir will perform beautifully.
I’m hungry too. Might go scramble some eggs. Bacon in the freezer…
he is a mechanic for the coast guard and retires after his 20 – he will have his pension and i’m not sure what he plans to do. jen is a construction project assistant and her skills are transferable up there – she has both main office and on jobsite experience.
eggs – no bacon. hmmm, i have some left over roast chicken – i could make an omelette and toss in some cheese but dayam, bacon sounds good.
Bacon’s thawed and in the skillet! I didn’t even realize I was hungry until Marion brought us breakfast! What are you doing up so late tonight, Suz? I had a nap cuz I’m on vacation!!!
i’ve been enjoying myself loohoo :)
but, tis time for me to head out. g’nite all and thanks for hanging with me tonight.
G-nite Suzanne,
Thanks for the late- late nite. I always get the tail end when I wake up. Good morning all.
nite suzanne
Good night, Suzanne. Sweet dreams.
Morning all. Nite Suzanne. Ham biscuit and grits, okkkkkk!
hey sunny- can you give me a hint as to the “gossip”? GA thing.
Plenty of it swirling about! If it has to do with Vernon Jones, then it may be already known. ;)
Personal family type stuff…
k, I will email you.
Don’t get your hopes up. Nothing spectacular, just kinda interesting re dynamics.
Wapo:
The administration and Democratic lawmakers in Congress agree that the meltdown in credit markets exposed weaknesses in the nation’s tangled web of federal and state regulators, which failed to anticipate the effect of so many new players in the industry.
That’s funny since Enron I have seen the corporate culture utilize all kinds of paper scams to rip investors off. Every trade up the line from the original mortgage produced a nice fee/commission which was the BS model for profit in their backroom operations just as it is in all the others. I hate the culture of lies that enrichen the rich and steal from the taxpaying pubic.
If their was a god the minute these bastards walked into a church they would be consumed in fire. That won’t happen because what we call churches are corrupt constructions of an imagined god power.
I just emailed you.
why am i up,and you are correct…the church i infrequent, has never said ONE word against this illegal war…shame on this 80 year old pastor

Chilean Envoy to U.N. Recounts Threats of Retaliation in Run-Up to Invasion
UNITED NATIONS — In the months leading up to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration threatened trade reprisals against friendly countries who withheld their support, spied on its allies, and pressed for the recall of U.N. envoys that resisted U.S. pressure to endorse the war, according to an upcoming book by a top Chilean diplomat.
The rough-and-tumble diplomatic strategy has generated lasting “bitterness” and “deep mistrust” in Washington’s relations with allies in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere, Heraldo Mu¿oz, Chile’s ambassador to the United Nations, writes in his book “A Solitary War: A Diplomat’s Chronicle of the Iraq War and Its Lessons,” set for publication next month.
Happy Easter, Easterphiles
I’m eating a pretty blue egg right now :)
Here’s what’s on Washington Journal this morning:

Exactly. They overpriced their goods by understating and misrepresenting the risk. They pocketed that difference, and now to avoid a total meltdown the taxpayers have to cover that risk.
I recommend this by Krugman: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03…..ugman.html

felixmoronia and suzanne–i got out my photo album from glenwood springs, cuz i don’t remember a sign saying that doc was buried ’somewhere around here’……..but i was there in ’95, so, could be one now……..but his headstone says”he died in bed”…….thought that was kindof a slam when i read it, after all of the things he did in his life.
and if you go to glenwood springs, right outside of there, also take the hike to hanging rock. it’s a killer, but worth it…….we met an 87 yr old man that takes that hike every year……there is a beautiful mountain lake/pond at the top…….can’t get in it, but it cools you off just to look at it.
and the hot springs pool and sauna caves are a must,to do, too
and the town of redstone, there is a wonderful little bookstore, the three sisters, and a gallery that has former sen. ben nighthorse’s jewelry for sale there. wonderful paintings. outta my price range.
and there is a back road from glenwood springs to carbondale that is has wonderful vistas. but don’t take it without 4wheel drive unless the weather has been dry.
carbondale has an artist, if she’s still there, elizabeth robinson, who does incredible ceramic works. porcelain. she went to school here, i’ve purchased a lot of her work.
and rifle, north of there, is a little haven on the edge of civilization, at the eastern edge is a place that has little cabins, fly-fishing and a great giftshop—is in the middle of nowhere, the edge of the wilderness, and they were the one place that had sketchbooks for sale…..and hand hammered copper pots.
well, saw glenwood springs on the thread and couldn’t resist, really cool area.
So, you’re a teacher, huh??? ;-)
Thanks, I’ll take any help I can get.
