My guess (and fear) is that you’re going to receive some serious heat from the Wurlitzer gang over your book. You have mates here who will stand up for you, but be careful — I think these people will do just about anything to punish those brave enough to expose their dishonesty and deceit. Watch your six.

It’s an excellent question. FDL readers will remember the David Kuo book Tempting Faith, in which a former Bush official complains that Christian evangelicals have been cynically exploited by Karl Rove, who privately called them “the nuts.”

The book is largely about the amazing lengths to which politicians have gone to keep Moon believing that he’s adored in Washington, up to and including (I swear, I’m not making this up–see this Washington City Paper piece) enacting “Parent’s Day,” a holiday on the federal calendar designed to appease Moon.

If I had to guess, Rev. Moon’s lobbyist, the Religious Right huckster Gary Jarmin, probably knows it’s a con game. But there are wide-eyed Unification Church leaders who brag about being “loved and respected” by politicians. Longtime aide Col. Bo Hi Pak even bragged in the 1990s that George H.W. Bush was having his schedule dictated by Moon.

Lindy: That’s why I made this a book about moral corruption first, and influence only second. The former is in plain sight, and ought to be a hilarious public scandal–some of the most sanctimonious politicians in the land, cavorting over 30 years with an anti-Christian demagogue famous for enslaving American teenagers.

After that, someone braver can me can ask where the Japanese Mob enters into the picture :)

And may I add what a pleasure it’s been both reading Bad Moon Rising and helping get the word out about it.

I have some experience with interacting with the media creating narratives and dealing with controversy. If you aren’t the creator of the narrative that the right wing is pushing, you can co-opt it a bit to get YOUR point across. Hold them to their words. Have your PR person get a clip of what they said about Obama and Wright and then ask if they are interested in Moon and another Politician. They might bite.

As David said earlier they don’t act logical but somewhere in their fevered brain they know that it might make good TV.

Question: What is the primary objective of Moon? Is it truly to achieve some sort of world domination with his religious ‘views’ being imposed on as many people as possible? It’s just too weird to rationally comprehend.

My take is that the repugs who have signed up with Mr. Moon are intending to use his money and influence to their own purposes. From your perspective, do you believe that the Moon inner circle are aware of this strategem?
