I had hoped to introduce Martin Heinrich as our newest Blue America candidate last Saturday but, fortunately, he was busy winning the New Mexico Democratic Pre-Primary convention. Among the five hopefuls running for the seat (NM-01) being abandoned by corrupt Bush rubber stamp Heather Wilson, Martin got 56.4% of the vote. His closest competitor wound up with 11.2%.
Martin will be facing off against a Bush surrogate, Darren White, the 2004 Campaign Chairman for Bush-Cheney in Bernalillo County (basically, Albuquerque). White is a lockstep and eager rubber stamp for the entire array of Bush's toxic and disastrous agenda. And he has some problems of his own too boot-- like running a sheriff's department that was notorious for racial profiling. But even if Martin wasn't facing an especially bad opponent, he would still be one of the most outstanding potential leaders we could hope to elect to Congress in November.
He was a member of the Albuquerque City Council for 4 years and his colleagues elected him to the presidency of that body. That's because he gets an "A" in works and plays well with others and because they knew him as someone who likes to get real things accomplished for real people. Governor Bill Richardson appointed him to head the Office of the Natural Resources Trustee for similar reasons.
At 37, Martin is filled with positive energy and a can-do spirit. He has a unique perspective, for a politician, on the world. After getting a mechanical engineering degree in college, he decided to devote himself to energy issues.
"I started working on it in the early 90s when some fellow engineering students and I got together and designed and built a solar car and raced it across the United States. Ever since then I've realized that there's this sense in this country that energy independence is pie in the sky and we just need more oil, more gas, more domestic drilling, more foreign supply... and it's this self fulfilling prophesy that has nothing to do with the technological challenge of changing how we deal with energy. It's the reason why we've fallen behind Denmark and Germany and Japan so dramatically. In my own home is we get our electricity primarily from photovoltaics -- and we buy the rest from wind generation. I've been involved with that long enough to know that we really can completely change how this country deals with energy."
Yes, we can; we just need new leaders who embrace science and progress, leaders like Martin.
He's known in Albuquerque as a down to earth guy who is interested in results. He was one of the leaders of the successful fight to raise the city's minimum wage to $7.50 making Albuquerque the fourth city in the country to have a minimum wage that is higher than the state and federal level, something he's very proud of. It harkens back to his childhood memories of his parents' situation.
I grew up in a blue collar household. My dad was an IBW lineman during the week; on the weekends we all worked to keep the ranch afloat. My mom was a garment worker and then she worked for one of the only non-union auto supply plants in the Midwest and that experience is part of the reason why I've been such a strong labor advocate. I really saw first hand, because of my mom's job, what it means to have no contract, no collective bargaining, no access to a union. I saw how completely different my parents were treated by their employers. That appreciation led me to fight for a minimum wage bill when I was on the City Council.
When I asked Martin what he's hearing about from the voters in Albuquerque most frequently, it was no surprise: the economy and Iraq. "And they're not unrelated. People see Iraq and the economy as very connected now. And they see the opportunity cost of all the money that we're spending in Iraq versus what that could mean to a faltering economy here in the U.S." I asked him if folks are buying into the Bush-McCain propaganda barrage that their surge is a glorious success.
Even the folks who say violence is down, are asking if that means we need to stay there for 100 years. Most of the people I meet in the district say 'absolutely not. It's time to start bringing our men and women home to their families.' Even though there may be reductions in violence, people want to see an end to it. Whether or not the surge is working depends on which goal posts you measure by. If you measure by the goal posts that the administration created for itself, its absolutely not working. It was supposed to give breathing room to the political side so they could pull the disparate ethnic communities together and unify an approach to government and those goal posts certainly haven't been met.
Last month Martin did a guest post at DWT about FISA and retroactive immunity. I asked him a few days ago on the phone if the issues he raises in that discussion are gaining any traction in the district or if they're too abstract and too far removed from people's day to day lives.
"Here in the West," he told me, "people have a healthy distrust of government. More and more conservatives, independents, Republicans who see the potential for the overreach of government to be on the other foot. What happens when it's a Democrat in the Oval Office ignoring the Constitution? What I tell a lot of my more conservative friends, especially the ones who are passionate defenders of the Second Amendment, is that if Darren White's not going to protect your 4th Amendment rights what makes you think he's going to protect your 2nd Amendment rights? That gets people thinking-- in a hurry. It's an issue that has the potential to really resonate with people here. There's a healthy distrust of Big Brother; that issue doesn't tend to be so much a Democrat vs. Republican issue."
Martin's going to be with us here at FDL for two hours. Please feel free to ask him whatever you'd like about his campaign and his qualifications. And please consider joining me in giving his campaign a boost at the Blue America ActBlue page.

Hi everyone, this is Martin. Thanks for having me.
Martin, welcome to FDL. Thanks for taking time out to talk with us. A lot of us are especially excited to get behind a candidate who is taking warrantless wiretapping and retroactive immunity as seriously as you are. And it looks like the Republicans have put up someone who feels strongly about the issue too– that warrantless wiretapping and retroactive immunity are just what America needs. It’s great we’ll have a congressional race where that’s part of the discussion.
By the way, I noticed one small factual error in the post. I’m 36, I’ll be 37 in October.
Good morning and welcome Mr. Heinrich.
Hey Howie!
Welcome and YESSSSSS to more engineers in congress. These guys are critical thinkers.
Howie you sure know how to pick em!
Math was never my strongpoint
Do you think that big oil will put up road blacks to alt energy or buy all the patents and sell it to us at rip off prices?
Hi Martin, this is a great opportunity! I think there is a factual error in the introduction about the vote percentages last week too.
Welcome Martin! Have read and/or endorsed A Responsible Plan to end the war in Iraq?
Have you seen big oil ads about their commitment to alt energy. That seems bogus to me. They have about half the world’s oil let to extract and burn… and that is the expensive half too.
Absolutely. I think this is one area Republicans are on thin ice with their own base. If Darren White won’t defend the 4th Amendment to the Constitution, what makes any of us think he’ll stand up for the rest of the Bill of Rights.
Are you a proponent of the notion that we have passed peak oil or it is upon us very soon?
I can recommend this site for some very good information about the energy situation world wide:
http://www.theoildrum.com/
By the way, Heather Wilson will not be missed. Good riddance.
Welcome, Mr. Heinrich. Does this mean you believe actual science is important? *g*
Big oil and the coal industry are why we lost the battle over solar tax credits and a renewable portfolio standard in this year’s energy legislation. However, I think a new day is dawning and more and more of us are calling for an Apollo Project for energy independence.
The patent angle is a new one for me, but obviously we need to make sure clean energy is accessible to everyone and that corporations aren’t able to corner the market on the very technology that we need to be widespread in order to make homeland security more than a slogan.
Heather is running (perhaps behind) for Pete Domenici’s seat. We have not (quite) seen the end of her yet.
No one can control our access to the sun. Solar technology would make energy available world wide, though not all solar is equal, it has free global distribution.
Hey Martin, welcome! So good to have you here today. May you show Heather Wilson the door ever so swiftly.
Martin, do you meet any voters in NM-01 who feel that Wilson’s and Domenici’s tampering with the judicial system– going to Rove to get David Iglesias fired after their pressure on him didn’t work– sort of delegitimize the Republican Party?
I’m reviewing that now. I saw Darcy Burner recently and she shared a copy. While I’m not finished reviewing it, I believe that having a pro-active plan is both good policy and good policy.
I’ve opposed the war in Iraq since the beginning and I absolutely support bringing our troops home to their families.
While we draw our troops down we’ll need a diplomatic surge to make sure our exit from Iraq is responsible and that Iraqis have the opportunity to rebuild their government and nation as quickly as possible.
More about the solar car, please! Speed, any problems, size, etc.
Hi Martin; good luck with your race. How do you think labor can recover from the decimation and in some cases (lets admit it) the corruption of unions? Can new, better, progressive unions make a come back? And what if anything can we do to minimize the wage gap between “girl jobs” and “boy jobs”; women are closing the wage gap when they do men’s work (e.g., lawyer), but secretaries earn only about half what entry level code testers make, and the skills are roughly comparable. Could unionization be of use there?
Hi All, I’m with the campaign. We’ve got a two-fer opportunity when it comes to Heather. Martin is going to turn her House seat blue and Tom Udall (or maybe even Steve Pearce) is going to send her into early retirement by defeating her in the Senate race.
Martin I want to alert you to the idea that the new apollo type push for green energy can and probably will lead to another “investment bubble” and a lot of pain will ensue.
I would urge you when you shepherd this necessary bill through congress to put in the safe guards to mitigate against another financial bubble. Wall street is dying for a new bubble to get things rolling again.
We must not let them do it again.
Beware.
I know life long Republicans who have changed their registration because they were so upset with this administration’s efforts to politicize the Justice Department.
Howie,
Just a reminder… still waiting for someone to go after Eliot Engel. I will work for nuttin for that person. Another DINO in NYS that needs to go.
Hola to Martin from another Land of Enchantment Dem. Congratulations on your big victory at the Dem nominating convention last Saturday! Only candidate who got more than 50% and candidate with the largest margin over the next competitor. –Barb W.
Matt does netroots outreach for Martin’s campaign. He has been tremendously helpful over the last couple of months in helping me get a grasp on New Mexico politics and in helping arrange for us to have Martin on today.
Didn’t that Pearce kook beat her in the GOP pre-primary convention? That should be a great primary to watch, a battle between two rubber stamps, one embracing his lemminglike behavior and one trying to make believe she’s different. Udall must feel great. I have a feeling 2008 is going to be an incredible year for Democrats across the board in New Mexico.
Great! I look forward to hearing more of your input.
Peak oil is a physical realty. The question is, when will it happen and will we be prepared. You can only see a production peak in in the rearview mirror, which is why we need to break our addiction to oil now.
A related issue is the surging demand for coal, oil and gas from places like India and China. We have record oil prices, clearly established global warming, and most large oil reserves are in places unfriendly to the US. I think that makes more than a compelling case for showing some leadership NOW regarding energy independence and a major push for clean, renewable sources and technologies.
Great approach.
Is the terrain of your district conducive to precinct walking? How is your “door-to-door” going?
Underlying the growing demand for energy is the growing population which is demanding it and of course mostly in the third world.
Someone is going to have to begin tackling the problems of over population.
Even if we develop renewable energy for no cost, the planet is exceeding its carrying capacity. This will sink us in even the cleanest and cheapest renewable energy environment.
Precint bicycling?
Yes! While there is an important rural component to NM-01, the vast majority of the district is within Albuquerque city limits. As such, door-to-door canvassing is already and will continue to be an important part of our campaign. The Democratic Party in New Mexico is on the rise and there’s a lot of excitement surrounding Martin’s candidacy. We’ve already recruited thousands of volunteers. If anyone is from New Mexico (or even if they’re not - they can always help with phone banking!) and wants to volunteer, please visit our website, www.martinheinrich.com and sign up!
Keyword, “NOW.” Martin has a reputation– an earned one– in New Mexico politics for not just being a talker but for DOING what needs to be done to accomplish his goals. I tried my best capturing that in the intro above. I want to urge everyone who is looking for solutions more than rhetoric in to donate what you can to Martin’s campaign. I’ll be matching the all contributions from outside New Mexico that add up to $100 in the next 15 minutes. Go.
Thanks for checking out the Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq. I admired your impressive FISA video and I hope you can bring that same spirit of change into Congress!
Martin, I hope this does not sound unforgivably parochial, but the term ‘homeland’ whether from your lips or Obama’s (whom I support), strikes me as a wee bit ‘over the top’.
I worry that a push might be made to call this place ‘Homelandia’, and I should not like that, not one little bit.
This is a small gripe, but must we adopt these terms?
I realize that I’m hopelessly out of date, but would, nonetheless appreciate your consideration of this small matter.
This is going to be a tough race and Martin needs our strong support to succeed. He’ll be facing current Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White this Fall. White chaired Bush’s campaign in the county last time and is a “law and order” guy who will no doubt conduct a very negative campaign. Here’s the kind of tack he’s already taking against Heinrich in his fundraising materials:
I’m in Howie.
Unions are making a comeback in New Mexico. Almost every trade union I know has grown this year. I believe that is a very good thing. I grew up in a blue collar home where my dad had union representation (IBEW) and my mom, who worked in an auto supply factory, did not. My mother and her co-workers were treated dramatically worse than my dad and his co-workers.
Even though unions members make substantially more than minimum wage, they were incredible advocates for raising the minimum wage here in Albuquerque for non-union workers. A large number of our minimum wage workers here are single moms working multiple jobs. They benefited from the activism of our unions.
I think that’s worth a $25 donation…
Anybody want to match me? C’mon. Where’s Teddy?
http://www.actblue.com/page/blueamerica08
Crooks and Liars has a clip up that Martin did explaining why he feels so strongly about FISA.
The Bush administration’s method of operation seems to be that once elected, it can do what it wants: it can ignore precedent, ignore Congress, and ignore public opinion the public interest. Given the motel room keys once every election, it can trash the place as if it were a Dallas lap-dancing bar.
How can Democrats take control and implement a progressive agenda without falling into the Rovian trough of doing the same thing, just for different interest groups.
We built the solar car in 1992 and 1993. We’ll have to get a photo up on martinheinrich.com. Speed was only limited by energy. It handled great at 60mph, but we typically cruised it at 30mph to maximize efficiency in our cross country trek. One of the technologies we used was regenerative braking, which is a mainstay on the Toyota Prius and should be a mainstay for all vehicles in the future. Every time you brake in a conventional car you waste enormous energy.
Calling the Department of Redundancy Department. How is a Bush rubber stamp not corrupt? (If Wilson had been indicted for taking bribes, I think I would have heard.)
WRT d-t-d: There are huge voter registration drives underway in NM as well. Tens of thousands of registrations have been pouring in to the clerks and SoS. Many more registering D than R, though Ds have always enjoyed the registration (but sadly not voting) advantage. This year looks to be very different. The energy for the campaigns this year, among Ds in NM is higher than I have ever seen it.
Also, the Sheriff has a very bad record WRT murder convictions. He can’t seem to conduct sufficient investigations. This should be a big problem for him.
Thanks Jane! Earlier this week, we launched a goal to raise at least $15,000 online by 3/31. With everyone’s help, we should have no problem exceeding that goal!
We strongly support precinct bicycling!
I will, Matt. I took this race on, in part, because I believe that the last 8 years of horrible policy are a direct threat to my kids. My boys, Carter and Micah, are going to get saddled with all the ramifications of this failed administration, and the sooner we start digging out of this mess, the brighter their futures will be.
I was wondering what you think Democrats could do to make NM more Democrat friendly. Are there specific issues that you think DC might have been avoiding that could help NM turn more solidly blue?
Yup, Pearce won 55-45 at the convention. Heather may be down, but, she’s far from out. We can’t ever underestimate her.
That said, Martin’s opponent, Darren White, is even worse than Heather Wilson. He’s a George Bush Republican through and through. He was Bush’s 2004 Bernalillo County chair and he actively campaigned for the Bush/Cheney ticket.
Another issue of great import to the future of our children will be changing the missions of our national laboratories from weapons to productive science for the betterment of our planet. It will be fantastic to have Senator Udall and Representative Heinrich working together on this. Udall has been a lonely voice, and more and more people should understand that this would be good for NM (more and even better jobs) and good for the world (imagine the good energy of all those scientists working for clean energy, alternative fuels, treatment of disease and other promising science).
While this is not an invalid concern, I think we can make sure that we don’t create policies that dump good money after bad for a couple years into questionable technology and then cut off investment altogether. What we need is sustained, thoughtful support that puts clean energy on par with conventional energy, which is still highly subsidized.
We also need to make this effort personally accessible for every single American. We need AmeriCorps volunteers weatherizing the homes of senior citizens on fixed incomes. We need to lead the world in research and development of clean energy at our national labs. This has to be something every American participates in.
I want to alert all to the idea that the new apollo type push for green energy can and probably will lead to another “investment bubble” and a lot of pain will ensue.
I would urge when we shepherd this necessary bill through congress they put in the safe guards to mitigate against another financial bubble. Wall street is dying for a new bubble to get things rolling again.
We must not let them do it again.
Beware.

Now that the former EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman testified under oath that the Clear Skies Act of 2003 actually allows more pollution including mercury, will you comitt to improving the Act so it lives up to its name?
I’m in, matched your $25 and raised you ten!
Anybody want to match a piece of that?
My question, Mr Heinrich, is: What steps can the next Congress take to restore the role of scientists in the federal government? I fear we have lost tremendous talent due to the BushCo “brain drain.” Any ideas on how we can restore science primacy in our agencies that really miss it?
Thanks for stopping by today!
You’ve been matched– times 4. Donations for Martin’s campaign can be made through ActBlue right here at the Blue America page.
There are issues, like water planning and management, which are huge in New Mexico, but which are very hard to get on the radar screen in Washington, DC. As we elect more Western Democrats, I hope we can change that.
Water is a critical issue here now, and one I worked on extensively on the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority. As states across the west deal with the impacts that global warming is having on our snowpack, I think we are going to have make this issue more of a federal priority.
Another positive development for us in infighting among Repubs here in NM. For instance, there have been reports from three Repubs of threats to candidates who wanted to challenge Sheriff Darren White in the Repub primary for NM-01. And in the Senate race, Heather Wilson and Steve Pearce are slinging a lot of mud at each other already.
In contrast, Dems here are very energized and dedicated to be united no matter what, from the presidential race on down the ticket. Our presidential caucus was jam packed, as were our county level and state level nominating conventions. As bgrothus said upthread, Dem voter registration is also surging. BUT, we can expect tough races in every category, which is why early support of candidates like Heinrich is essential.
Yes.
How can we hope to win the hearts and minds of Iraqis, if Baghdad does not have electricity 24 hours a day (not even close). Try to hang the failures of the Bush administration on your opponent.
And echoing barbwire, Martin is not the household name that Sheriffwhiteproductions is. The Sheriff is a non-stop self-promoter and has used his office for that. He will have the Rovian advantage as well.
Though I am highly optimistic about the Democrats in NM and nationwide this year, we must fight and win.
This will take years, but needs to be a priority. I come from a science background and I’ve watched as our culture has moved away from the respect for science we once had. We need to address this from grade school all the way up to federal agencies. Without an adequate respect for science we risk falling behind the rest of the world on many levels.
Hello Martin, LP from New Mexico FBIHOP here.
A lot of the political observers in New Mexico say a Democrat needs to have a large bloc of Hispanic support to take CD1 in New Mexico. How do you think you can draw in those supporters?
That shouldn’t be too hard. Martin’s opponent was the Chairman of the Bush-Cheney election committee for the district. He’s basically asking to be elected so he can be a rubber stamp for a toxic and discredited agenda most Americans find repulsive.
Hi Martin. Thanks so much for stopping by.
My question is about Changing Congress.
Rep. Wilson has taken %38 percent of her campaign contributions from PAC’s. These leads to her representing not the people of the First district but her powerful PAC friends.
So my question is this. Are you taking money from PAC’s and lobbyists or are you only taking money from real people.
To change the way things work we need to change who people are representing. Right now it is powerful campaign contributers and we need to make congress represent the people again.
Thanks again and good luck!
As someone told me recently, Darren White isn’t a moderate; he isn’t even Heather Wilson (a supposed GOP moderate) — he’s Steve Pearce. His politics don’t fit with the district at all.
How do you hope to overcome the attraction of running a war without raising taxes, only a few people understand the national debt is $9 trillion and Bush spends like a man gone crazy. Bush runs the war off budget, by using Supplemental so it does not show up in the Budget Deficit, just the Federal Debt.
And there sure have been a lot of Democrats– the cowed kind– voting for those Supplementals, haven’t there?
This administration’s actions in Iraq have been a glaring example of governance by ideology, with little respect for pragmatism and results. That same approach can be seen across the federal government today (think FEMA.) We need to measure our government’s successes and failure by results, not just intentions.
Just an fyi, my opponent was the 2004 Bush/Cheney campaign chair for
I know LP will agree that Martin has an excellent relationship with the local netroots and grassroots communities. See my post on Democracy for New Mexico for a report on one of Martin’s meetings with bloggers. Martin also has strong ties to our DFA group that’s been meeting since 2003, and has been reaching out to us since his days running for city council.
Ahhh Heather. You know, if it looks like a Dyke, and walks like a Dyke, and talks like a Dyke; ahem.
I wish she would just come out already. I think it might help her life perspective a whole bunch.
it’s already transferred somewhat to commodities
…Bernalillo County. I think we can expect more of the same, were he to be elected.
is there a strong evangelical presence in the repub party there?
There is a picture of the 363 tons of CASH sent to Iraq to pay the Iraqi pensions after the Iraqi Finance Minster asked the US Government for help. Most Americans do not like the largest single transfer of Cash in US history went to pay Iraqi pensions. It would make a very powerful ad.
Oh yeah, he’s actually made an effort to include bloggers — which is more than I can say for any other campaign in New Mexico so far.
Mr. Heinrich, this is such a pleasure. I will contribute as soon as I can in April.
I am a fan of your Ojito Wilderness site; it provides inspiration that I use to draw landscapes.
The strategy is pretty straightforward: speak to people’s values. Hispanic voters care about their families. They want better education, better healthcare, and better jobs. They want what we all want.
When I ran for city council I performed very well among Hispanic voters in my district because I addressed issues important to them.
A subsection of “the responsible plan” addreses energy policy.
Create a Clean Energy Economy:
From your comments here today, Martin, it sounds likes you will be able to inform the dialog and debate of a new energy policy.
Heinrich is great and those of us in Santa Fe County wish him well. Up here in NM CD3 we have an excellent candidate to take Tom Udall’s seat when Tom runs against Heather Wilson for Domenici’s seat. Progressive Don Wiviott is running against the usual family dynasty legacy so prevalent here in NM. That needs to change. New Mexico will go blue in 2008! http://katestone.wordpress.com
Step 1: End the war
Step 2: Balance the budget
This isn’t rocket science. I worked on four budgets (hundreds of millions of dollars annually) when I was on the Albuquerque City Council, and I’m a big fan of the approach that you don’t spend what you don’t have. It is long overdue for us to get away from the credit card approach to federal government and get back to a “Pay as you go” approach.
Thank you, Martin. What part of “Borrowing money from China to pay the Saudi’s for oil” seemed like such a great idea in the first place?
The demographics suggest that NM-01 is more Catholic than evangelical. Martin is campaigning in every part of the district and talking to every voter. People of faith have a home in a Democratic Party that stresses social justice and he is taking that message to voters of all religions.
Thank you. I spent several years of my life working with Congressman Udall, the Pueblo of Zia, and many other good people to permanently protect Ojito. It is one of my proudest accomplishments and a great example of the conservation victories that can be achieved when you are willing to sit down with everyone involved.
Thank you. We need more and better Democrats in Washington fighting for clean energy and green collar jobs. This is a major priority for me and for my campaign.
I recently saw a citation that 80% of the recent growth in the trade deficit comes from buying foreign oil (which is ever more expensive). The opportunity cost involved is obviously enormous.
“No one could have forseen the enormous growth in the trade deficit…”
It seems so utterly pathetic - the vast incompetence of these people. If it wasn’t so catastrophic to our well-being, it might be a good line for a running gag, or something.
Thank you all so much for the opportunity to visit with you today.
Please visit www.martinheinrich.com for additional information or contact me at info@martinheinrich.com.
I really enjoyed it. See you next time. - Martin
thank you for coming! best wishes!
Thank you coming to FDL today and sharing your thoughts and vision with us. Please do continue this community outreach.
HEY HOWIE!!!
Since this beautiful spring day has apparently somehow distracted our usual CRUSH of “Blue America” regulars - why don’t you offer some really cool CD to everyone who donates over $25 bucks to this fine example of “More and Better Democrat”?
Hint: NOT Chicago’s Color My World
But something really boffo-socko, cool daddi-o to get things rolling!
I hope you’ll come back again, Martin and keep us updated on your campaign.
One more Democrat in Congress! Best Wishes!
This is our year, Take Our Country Back!
Thanks for stopping by today, sir — please visit again!
Best wishes in your campaign. We will follow your progress and wish you well.
OK, any donation for $25 or more to Martin’s campaign that comes in before midnight, will elicit a CD from Blue America. If you want to donate but don’t want a CD, just add a penny to the donation and I’ll know you don’t want the music.
Do you know if it actually paid the Iraqi pensions or if it became part of the now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t Iraqi funny money?
Don’t want to start a war, but I thought that the Dyke remark, with a guest in the house, was rude.
Ditto, I didn’t care for it with or without a guest.
So sorry to get your pearls in a twist - but I defend my right to say it here. And, Dearest Twain - wherefore art thou your Contribution to Martin’s campaign?
This was in response to Sandman at 76
ditto my question to Twain.
How is your question related to our comments? Are you saying we need to contribute an amount you consider appropriate to a Blue America candidate in order for us to comment that we felt your comments to be rude? Are you mixing up apples and snakes?
I’m saying maybe you’ve lost focus and should care more about getting Martin Elected than if someone types the D-word.
Really.
Don’t own any pearls. When there is a guest here we are told to be polite and to not digress from the thread. That was my point - I thought it put the candidate on the spot. I don’t care about Heather. I expressed an opinion and didn’t yell.
