Osama bin Laden, the Sunni Sociopath, or as John McCain knows him, "one of them Shiia extremists", is back again and filled with as little logic as possible:
Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden threatened the European Union with grave punishment on Wednesday over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.
In an audio recording posted on the Internet, Bin Laden said the cartoons were part of a "crusade" in which he said the Catholic Pope Benedict was involved.
The message was released on the fifth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
The Pope, really? You know, sound, pristine thinking like that is normally found only in a Lyndon LaRouche ad. He should really give up international terrorism in the name of perverted religion and start talking about Queen Elizabeth II's love of selling opium.
I'm so glad we outsourced the job of capturing him when we had a reasonable chance so that we could have this awesome Iraq War & Occupation.

KEEP THE FAITH …ALL THEY GOT IS FEAR BUT IT WON’T WORK…BUT NOT THIS TIME!!!
Oops! Saw the headline and thought you meant Cheney. Someone last thread was looking for this video.
306! (It’s divisible by 9.)
dang
Umm. Atta. You do know he’s not real doncha? Please. Take a step back. Breathe deeply, and think for a minute… What is the likelihood that the worlds #1 “terrist” while Bush is president would just “happen” to be in the family that has been the principal Busch business partner for decades?
Now I’m not as smart as Lyndon LaRouche of course, but this answer is very easy: There is NO F*CKIN CHANCE AT ALL that it is a coincidence.
Why do people want so desperately to believe this sh*t?
Remember. They are still out to get you, whether you are paranoid or not.
Brilliant, it’s all a plot!
BINGO Citizen Tortoise…there’s no fear like liberal fear of the consequenses of tellin’ the truth!!
Hey Raven. You are starting to catch on.

KEEP THE FAITH, FEAR WORKS SOMETIMES BUT NOT THIS TIME!!!
Skip the lecture bro, I’ve been getting enough of them lately.
I finally understand the administration’s position.
But as Tweety so aptly put it yesterday: “It’s tough to stabilize quicksand before pulling yourself out.”
you gotta admit .. he’s done wonders for several business fronts .. “security firms” head the list .. “private armies” .. like blackwater are making big bucks … and whoa .. gawd only knows how much the “defense industry” has made .. and is still making .. with up-armored hummvees going at 100k a pop ..amd MRAP’s at a coll 2 mil .. not to mention all the chartered air flights flyin’ troops in and out .. this fucking war is a 15 billion a month deal .. just for iraq .. and i’ll bet another bilion os goingto afghanistan .. that’s a lot of bucks we’re spending because bin laden started this shit ..and is still out there ..
it’s interesting he’s picking on the pope .. there’s a lot of fucking catholics in the world man .. and the pope just might call up the knights of the rosy cross and start the fucking crusades all over again ..
you want a plot .. ?? i’ll give you a plot .. bin laden knew damn well that he couldspend a relativwely small amount of money and scare the shit out of our half-assed leaders so bad that the motherfuckers would spend us into oblivion fighting shadows .. and so he did ..and now we are .. the cost of this fucking war is driving us into a hole so fucking deep it’ll take a take us thirty years or more to climb out of it ..
meanwhile ..all those in the know with the bucks to do so can invest to their little hearts content in a sure thing … making bullets .. making bombs .. military trucks .. humvees ..MRAPs.. artillery .. airplanes.. the whole jamboree .. and they can keep making them because they’re “consumables” ythings that get used up and worn down and out .. sand rebuilt or replaced .. without fail ..
then there’s the medical industry .. how many doctors and nurses will be kept busy for whole careers just caring for the maimed and addled fron this shitty little war-without-end ..
and the fat cats are simply lining their pockets with the money the mint is printinhg as fast as it can .. pretty soon the wholedamn mess is going to collapse financially .. and all the fatg cats will then be flush and able to go around the country and buy up whole shitloads of repossessed properties for pennies on the dollar .. ai’t patritoism and the “merikan way a beautiful machine when ya can get it to run full tilt like this boyz .. hell ya got a top section making money hand over fist .. and ya got a working section that spends every dollar it makes and twenty bucks more every week just to buy groceries.. pay the rent.. put a down paymentr on the electric bill … and get a half-a-tank of gas ..and six pack a’course..
there’s your plot .. bankrupt the nation while getting rich off the process …patriotic motherfuckers aren’t they …
they watched the USSR do this in the eighties and just couldn’t wait to try it here .. all those juicy national parks and blm lands just beggin’ to be logged .. and sectioned ..and turned into resort housing complexes ..with golf courses and gates the keep the riff-raff like you nad me out .. unless it’s to comed in to clean the pool or unstop the commode ..

Could someone tell Marion when she arrives with the morning Times and breakfast that on yesterday’s early AM post I left her–and all bagel-loving pups– the addresses of a few places in NYC where one can find the true bagels of her and by childhood, the union-made small crunchy nutty ones.
And chew (no pun intended) on this while I catch up on Zzzzzs.

States’ Data Obscure How Few Finish High School
By SAM DILLON
JACKSON, Miss. — When it comes to high school graduation rates, Mississippi keeps two sets of books.
One team of statisticians working at the state education headquarters here recently calculated the official graduation rate at a respectable 87 percent, which Mississippi reported to Washington. But in another office piled with computer printouts, a second team of number crunchers came up with a different rate: a more sobering 63 percent.
The state schools superintendent, Hank Bounds, says the lower rate is more accurate and uses it in a campaign to combat a dropout crisis.
“We were losing about 13,000 dropouts a year, but publishing reports that said we had graduation rate percentages in the mid-80s,” Mr. Bounds said. “Mathematically, that just doesn’t work out.”
Like Mississippi, many states use an inflated graduation rate for federal reporting requirements under the No Child Left Behind law and a different one at home. As a result, researchers say, federal figures obscure a dropout epidemic so severe that only about 70 percent of the one million American students who start ninth grade each year graduate four years later.
California, for example, sends to Washington an official graduation rate of 83 percent but reports an estimated 67 percent on a state Web site. Delaware reported 84 percent to the federal government but publicized four lower rates at home.
The multiple rates have many causes. Some states have long obscured their real numbers to avoid embarrassment. Others have only recently developed data-tracking systems that allow them to follow dropouts accurately.
The No Child law is also at fault. The law set ambitious goals, enforced through sanctions, to make every student proficient in math and reading. But it established no national school completion goals.
“I liken N.C.L.B. to a mile race,” said Bob Wise, a former West Virginia governor who is president of the Alliance for Excellent Education, a group that seeks to improve schools. “Under N.C.L.B., students are tested rigorously every tenth of a mile. But nobody keeps track as to whether they cross the finish line.”
This, of course, has been one of the major problems with American business, Always looking at the next quarter’s results and not giving two hoots about the year or five year projections. Attention deficit business.
Good morning, pups. It’s Cohen and Kristof in the NYT today. La Collins is off. Mr. Cohen’s column is titled “Beyond America’s Original Sin,” and he says that a racial divide, once lived, dwells in the deepest parts of the psyche. This is what was captured by Barack Obama’s pitch-perfect speech on race. Mr. Kristof writes about “Obama and Race,” and says the Obama campaign has led many white Americans to listen in for the first time to some of the black conversation — and they are thunderstruck.

i’m sure there are at least five people who give a fuck ..all of whom are from NYC.. btw ..

good mornin’ anyway … slurpppp ..
Oh, great. Maybe the commodities market is where the next financial catastrophe will occur.
Thanks!
The article, while being datelined Jackson, MS, is about the national education mess. If you want to read it all it’s here. Lord knows the schools are a mess here too.
Same as it ever was. Generals Butler and Eisenhower tried to wise people up about war profiteering as far back as WWI, and many others did before them, but few listen. “The needle returns to the start of the song and we all sing along like before…”

There always needs to be a boogeyman for this to work. “Terrorists”, of which binLaden currently plays the lead role, are the boogeymen now instead of Communists, and they must love that one since terrorism will always exist in some form or other, whether Osama lives or not, or is real or not.
I’ve seen some others write about the timing of the various binLaden “screen tests” over the years, and it’s been uncanny how they’ve been with coordinated PR blitzes from the WH. Cheney emerges from his liar and gets all over the Newz talking about the “great success” of the Iraq Invasion…McCandyCain does another dog and pony show…I hear BigMedia outlets repeat whatever these proven liars say without question, and even start talking excitedly about the possible “elections” in Iraq this Fall…hmmmm….what else happens this Fall??? Oh yea, America will be choosing between McStain and Obama. Look for “terrorist watchdog” SITE to show up any day now. This group was started a few years ago by some neocon Insiders, and they supposedly “obtained” the last round of Osama’s home movies. Their job is to stoke the flames of fear.
This game only works as long a large percentage of the public believes it, and that’s why I think BigMedia is one of, or perhaps the biggest piece in this puzzle. Each day each one of us needs to get people off the BigMedia teat, and finding new sources of info such as FDL. Everyday we need to be doing this.
some smart people have thought for a while that commodities would be the next bubble.
The WH has been cursing Europe for not sending more troops to murder Iraqis so a few threats from osama busladen toward Europe on a fake video are just the thing needed.
i actually preferred the bin laden topic .. the ramifications are similar .. bin laden’s umtimate damage to our society via it’s economic collapse from defense overspending .. vs. the result of thirty years of educational failure in this nation having left us with an electorate so glaringly stupid they put gorge bush in office not just once …but a second time as well ..when they should have known then-four-years-on exacty how ill-equipped he was for the task at hand.
who was it who said the greatest danger to the nation was an uninformed voter .. was that JFK ?

OT: That damn woman-hating sexist Barbara Ehrenreich is going after Hillary again. Ever wonder, like me, why we never hear much about the Clinton’s religious life when Obama’s has dominated the headlines at various times? This could be why:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....92361.html
How could anyone expect the price of middle-class housing to increase when middle-class wages were not? Middle-class family incomes increased for a while as the percentage of two-income households increased. Then we entered a period where kids stayed at home longer contributing third and fourth incomes. But that effect has reached saturation, and wages are not increasing. So the ability of the middle class household to service ever-larger mortgages has reached and gone beyond its limit. How can Greenspan say this crash wasn’t predictable? The only thing that might not have been predictable was its timing.
Do you know about Major General Butler? In case you don’t…He was and still is one of the most decorated Marines in U.S. History through the Spanish American War and WWI. He became of a peace activist after WWI and blew the whistle on war profiteering for the rest of his life. This book he wrote in the mid-30s describes what he saw developing then, which ended up being WWII, and how the International chess games are just about the mega-rich staying richer, and why “We the people” should be standing up to stop them. Sound familiar?

Yeah, man, and that probably had something to do with her killing Vince Foster, man!
groucho
Bush is spreading the values that made him a successful Businessman and President to the rest of the country. If we cant trust Education Dept Statistics we can’t trust anything.

soooo.. what’s out of bounds ..subjects which have been covered in prior history or literary works are passe here .. ?? i don’t have time to re-read butler .. i think i read him first in the early 60’s ..
are you saying it’s not happening .. or that it’s not improtant // or that we already know it but aren’t doing anything about it .. so why pursue it ..
what is the nature of your complaint ..
Greenspan has gamblers fever others may lose but he thinks that he wins more than he loses. His record on the economy says otherwise, but like Bill Bennett
“Atlantic City and Las Vegas, where he is a “preferred customer” at several of them, and sources and documents provided to The Washington Monthly put his total losses at more than $8 million.
“I don’t play the ‘milk money.’”
Bennett has been a high-roller since at least the early 1990s. A review of one 18-month stretch of gambling showed him visiting casinos, often for two or three days at a time (and enjoying a line of credit of at least $200,000 at several of them). Bennett likes to be discreet. “He’ll usually call a host and let us know when he’s coming,” says one source. “We can limo him in. He prefers the high-limit room, where he’s less likely to be seen and where he can play the $500-a-pull slots. He usually plays very late at night or early in the morning–usually between midnight and 6 a.m.” The documents show that in one two-month period, Bennett wired more than $1.4 million to cover losses. His desire for privacy is evident in his customer profile at one casino, which lists as his residence the address for Empower.org (the Web site of Empower America, the non-profit group Bennett co-chairs). Typed across the form are the words: “NO CONTACT AT RES OR BIZ!!!”
Bennett’s gambling has not totally escaped public notice. In 1998, The Washington Times reported in a light-hearted front-page feature story that he plays low-stakes poker with a group of prominent conservatives, including Robert Bork, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and Chief Justice William Rehnquist. A year later, the same paper reported that Bennett had been spotted at the new Mirage Resorts Bellagio casino in Las Vegas, where he was reputed to have won a $200,000 jackpot. Bennett admitted to the Times that he had visited the casino, but denied winning $200,000. Documents show that, in fact, he won a $25,000 jackpot on that visit–but left the casino down $625,000…

Some other kind of history besides prior is there?
Sweet harmony from laden and cheney….. almost like they were reading from the same script…….
Dude, I’m agreeing with you.
Chris Wallace concern trolling about Obama on Imus this morning. Showing exactly why Obama does not appear on Fox. When he pushed the booga-booga Rev Wright racism stuff as far as he could, then he switched to the unpatriotic meme. Brought up Michelle Obama again.
Get a clue, Imus and Wallace [and of course they both know]…the shrinking democraphic [that was a typo but I decided to leave it….] of Fox News would never vote for Obama, have totally closed minds that epitomize tabloids, titties and gotcha. No point in wasting his time going there….
I watch so you don’t have to.
Better get to investigating the Pentagon Meditation Club
The problem with this place is the excess of common sense.
So out of place in the national discourse.
Can I get a definition of “concern troll” please.
yeah .. recent ..ancient .. imagined .. trumped up .. etc ..
some kind of stickler for grammah are ya ??

This does not seem like Snark?

Nah, I just love getting lectured in the morning.
And you have no idea how thankful I am.
This analysis is spot on and if there isn’t sufficient regulation in place the bubbleheads will be jumping in to cash out in the green revolution.
The only way to prevent that from happening is for all development to be either financial through gov bonds or with strict regs. FIRE turns any industry into a bubble which means wall street can create financial instruments and derivatives which will build the bubble.
I wonder if enough people will pick up on this and reign in FIRE???
I doubt it.
that’s a pretty far out club ..especially for the pentagon .. spiritual warriors .. may the force be with them eh ??
From the club’s site:
The great American patriot, Gen. Douglas MacArthur understood the ultimate solution to wars and the appropriate defense against evils of war and terrorism: We have had our last chance. If we do not now devise some greater and more equitable system, Armageddon will be at our door. The problem is basically theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence and improvement of human character. It must be of the spirit, if we are to save the flesh.” More on this
’tis not my intent .. i’m just having some fun flinging words together.. there’s no motive to it ..
very interesting
Thank you for your service. Is there a special Hazmat suit, or do you just have a decontamination shower?
It is something worth knowing, at least look a the Mojo article. You may laugh it off (as you most certainly will) but the fact remains that this group is not exactly savory. Or perhaps my provincialism is showing. I readily admit that I am non religious and dislike any of my public officials making a show of their religiosity.
WTF (in this case the ‘w’ is for ‘why’) should I be inundated with pictures of J Lo’s children on any tv program other than “Entertainment Tonight”, “Extra” or “Access Hollywood”?
no one but mc arthur could use a word like recrudesence with a straight face .. ya know ..
I seem to remember a binLaden-apalooza leading up to the 2006 Elections where he actually talked about getting more Democrats elected. Ah, can it be any more obvious? And “he” didn’t look much like the “he” in previous videos. So strange…
New attaturk upstairs.
The housing bubble was all “investment” driven.. ROI meme and so forth. A houe became not something for shleter, but the sole investment for a family. This means it was assumed to appreciate in value.
But since value appreciation is large demand driven they had to drive up demand and they did so by the Owning a Home is the American dream thingy and then offering trick loans to anybody who wanted to play. And everybody did, because they believed that they were making an investment which would grow faster than anything else.
And not only that… they could suck cash out to up their life style. All means to extract fees and fuel spending on wasteful consumer junk.
It was a very clever scheme by the money lender of Wall Street. The problem was the trick loans had to actually produce and reset so they could make them so huge returns. They sliced and diced them up and traded these mortgages as if they were sure bets. The inderlying real estate was shooting up.
But the holders can’t afford the resets and started defaulting. Then the real estate values tumbled and they banks could afford to run properties… they just want to collect monthly fees and trade SIVs.
Once the sub primes started to tank they took down all real estate values and perhaps they are heading to where they belong. But lots of people have paid inflated amounts for ANY real estate. This bubble will be felt by almost everyone who owns property. Their investment in their homes will tank 20-40% and many will owe more than their homes are worth… across the nation.
Fed comes in to help the money lenders so they don’t go bust. Cute ain’t it?
Real estate is a rip off
Property is robbery.
Benazir Bhutto told David Frost that bin Laden had been murdered:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnychOXj9Tg
The FBI has never charged bin Laden with the attacks of Nine Eleven:
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/.htm
When asked why there is no mention of 9/11 on Bin Laden’s Most Wanted web page, [FBI spokesman] Tomb said, “The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Usama Bin Laden’s Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11.”
Or in the immortal words of Johnny Rotten: “Ever had the feeling you’ve been cheated?”
Is this where Bush gets his Happy view of the war?
“One predominant world view recognizes that ordinary people living ordinary lives are often afflicted with intense fears, anger, hatred, and a host of other undesirable personality traits. In other ways they may be exceptionally strong individuals. This humanistic world view recognizes the great psychological value of prayer, self-talk, and the power of suggestion for dealing with root causes of evil, but stops there in acknowledging influences of spirituality in world affairs.
Any talk about spiritual warfare with fallen angels, devils, demons, Satan, and unclean spirits is regarded as absolute nonsense. Such concepts are often attributed to immature understanding of how the human mind works, and to first century concepts and terminology. Any extension of the influence of unseen entities from individuals to economic, political, or diplomatic issues or to modern day problems including war and terrorism is, therefore, considered to be due to overactive imagination and misunderstanding of psychological archetypes. According to this world view improvements in human character are to be realized only as each person takes responsibility for the consequences of their own thoughts and actions. “
http://pentagonmeditationclub......arfare.htm
This is strange I would expect our side to do something like this?
Did General Douglas MacArthur say that stuff?
Beats me, it came off that Pentgagon Meditation site. I know if he had his was China would be a cinder right now.
hmmm tie that in with mc arthur’s blurb .. and no i don’t think that’s where george gets his take .. he has yet to ever take responsibility for any action ..anytime .. anywhere .. he can’t admit error .. it’s hard to get to any enlightened state of mind if one isn’t capable of admitting error .. imo ..
test link
mc arthur was an old asia hand .. he understood the asian concept of total war .. few westerners ever internalize it .. or can be ruthless enough to practice it .. he knew the only reason to fight a war was to win it .. and he knew to win korea ..a proxy of china .. china would have to be absloutely defeated .. tactically sound and strategically correct on all counts .. but politically impossible .. what’s ironic about douglas mc arthur .. to me .. is that in attempting to be a pure militarian .. and consider only those military and strategic and tactical considerations .. he became the first general to be fired for “meddling in politics” .. when his intent was just the opposite..
Yeah I agree this site has me confused I don’t link the Dept of Defense and warm and fuzzy vibes together often in my mind.
Is the CIA so incredibly inept that they can’t find the logistics trail for a kidney dialysis machine deep in the wilds of the Afghanistan/Pakistan border region? After six years it shouldn’t be all that difficult.
They do want to find him, don’t they?
Doesn’t someone in the CIA want to shove OBL up Little Georgie’s ass for his throwing the Agency overboard in his quest (okay, okay … in Cheney’s quest) for world domination?
.
The real problem with this is that no matter when we leave Iraq, chaos will ensue.
It’s time to cut our losses and go home.
(btw… “losses” doesn’t begin to describe the incredible damage, the heinous number of death, and untold trillions of dollars expended to maintain this military occupation)
