A little breather this morning, courtesy of The Onion:
According to witnesses, a loud black man approached a crowd of some 4,000 strangers in downtown Chicago Tuesday and made repeated demands for change.
"The time for change is now," said the black guy, yelling at everyone within earshot for 20 straight minutes, practically begging America for change. "The need for change is stronger and more urgent than ever before. And only you—the people standing here today, and indeed all the people of this great nation—only you can deliver this change."
"I've already seen this guy four times today," Chicago-area ad salesman Blake Gordon said. "Every time, it's the same exact spiel. 'I need change.' 'I want change.' Why's he so eager for all this change? What's he going to do with it, anyway?"
...
"What a wacko," Schaumburg, IL resident Patrick Morledge said. "And, of course, after telling us all about how he had the ability to magically fix everything, he went right back to asking for change. Typical."
"If he's really looking for change, he's got the wrong guy," Morledge added.
...
"I'm a hardworking American who pays his taxes, and the last thing I need is some guy on the street demanding change from me," said William Overkamp, a Springfield, IL gun-shop owner.
He added, "What he really needs is a job."
I love those guys.

Good Morning BT
They want spare change!
Got any change to spare?
God I love Satire. Watch out, I can see some Right Wing nuts circulating this article around.
And I vote we give him one, come November *G*
My face hurts from laughing at this.
The sun just popped up…. going for my walk…. see after my 2 miles … and another cuppa.. will be on the lookout for anyone asking for change…
Loves me some Onion! My fav is the “new report” on the trend of outsourcing day care. In the vid the children are boxed up and sent to India to save money on babysitting.
er.. “news report”
Sorry pal, I got no change.
This guy has some thoughts on change.
teehee I love The Onion.
The Onion is great. So is the great TBogg, and if you missed this one you owe yourself a laugh. The united colors of Bubbadom damn near killed me — I sprained my giggler.
At first I didn’t “get it.”
Good grief, I’m so clueless in the morning. (shuffles off for more coffee…)
Don’t feel bad — I can’t think before my tea either!
An Open Letter to Barack Obama on the Subject of Faith
http://willyloman.wordpress.co.....-of-faith/
I generally empty my pockets out at the end of the day, and put all my change in an antique Sake cup on my dresser.
My point is that it’s a little early in the day yet to have any change. If you know what I mean. Right?
The Onion is the pride of Madison, Wisconsin….
what good is truth if it isn’t funny?
hizzhoner
yeah don’t feel bad, I thought Russert had resurfaced to make the claim Obama was soliciting contributions from Farrakhan *g*
That was so well done! Very witty!
that’s an eloquent letter there willy …
That’s dangerous,BT, putting a link to The Onion in your first sentance. I only strayed through the Bret Favre article. It could have been much worse.
You have written a most excellent letter to Obama. I had not realized that Conyers was not persuing ‘impeachment’ in deference to Obama’s run for the Presidency. Thank you for that insight, and your suggestion to Obama that he release Conyers from that notion. This deserves wider circulation.

“Change to Spare”
I wish I could say that, but I’m not laughing! I have to turn on MSNBC when I first turn the TV on in the morning because its one of the few channels that works until the TV is warmed up. What I saw was them giving a bunch of bigots a platform while they still went in pursuit of whether the American people took Barack Obama’s speech in the spirit in which it was meant. Why don’t they, instead, play the part of the speech where Barack says:
That would be so much more productive!
That was to have been addressed to willyloman @ 14.
I need coffee before I can make coffee…
Ann @ 23. Good point!
So here is our choice: nominate Obama, and suffer through eight years of rampant bigotry, or nominate Hillary and suffer through eight years of rampant sexism and Clinton-hatred.
What if we all just turned off our TVs?
Unfortunately, that wouldn’t change anything. All the crap would still be there, we’d just all be burying our heads in the sand. We’d just be out of the loop.
Point taken. My take is focused elsewhere. If people are not moved by Obama’s speech and think it’s BS then here is my observation:
If it’s all BS, then can we please have four years of well written and delivered BS?
Works for me. I find myself having fantasies of what an Obama SOTU speech would be like…
Has anyone found a video of Obama’s speech yesterday on Iraq? I thought I had found one, but it turned out to be an old one. C&L doesn’t have it yet.
BS ? . . . did ya know they have a network ?
ONN
the intro graphic is priceless
lol!
read this last night, funny stuff
Well, in the worst case, we may have to endure further perversion of our government, further loss of constitutional rights, further decline in our standard of living, further separation of our society into haves and have-nots, further decline in our world standing, bankruptcy, and depression before a majority of voters wise up and vote for their own interests. Lincoln apparently never conceived that a great number of the people can suffer from attention deficit disorder for a long time.
Also, I have been trying to find a video I “fell into” a few days ago linked from a post about some reich-wing fundie conference that featured a choir singing about how God wasn’t going to bless America (except it was uglier than that). I’d like to send it to a couple of people who keep bringing up Jeremiah Wright’s “God Damn America” statement. It sure doesn’t sound much different to me.
Unfortunately, I followed a bunch of links to get there and have no idea now where it was. Google has not been my friend this morning.
Elect Obama…and more and better Democrats…and restore the integrity of ownership of media….enough of the corporate few with their spew.
Prairie Today: Banality of Discrimination
“He added, “What he really needs is a job.”
We’re working on it…looks like he’s available to start in January.
Thank you Jkat
Pray for $4.50 gasoline. The numbers on the pump are the only thing the unwashed look at besides their teevee.
Me, too!
True dat.
OT: They buried the lede on this HRC story: “She pushed NAFTA on multiple occasions, including one in November 1993 at a closed meeting with 120 expected participants. As a presidential candidate, she blames the pact for costing jobs and promises to renegotiate it”.
I bet the Democratic hard blue collar workers in PA. would like to know this. Do OHIO voters know they were duped?
Repug debate 2007
Why should god bless america
Machel Maddows’ Campaign Asylum
Exquisitely well-done.
I do like your writing, very much indeed!
You may be right. It appears it won’t take a whole lot of praying. MSM are just starting to report the related rises in the cost of everything.

I think this is O’s Iraq speech (red tie).
heads up -
looks like both CNN and MSNBC will carry Senator Obama’s speech in West Virginia momentarily
Ah, yes, that was it! Thanks!! It’s bookmarked.
(also thanks to CBL2 for link to same)
OT but MSNBC has hired Sara Taylor, Karl Rove’s go to gal in the U.S. attorney scandal, as commentator. Another self-inflicted wound to a traditional media that is not only corrupt and complicit but fortunately becoming irrelavent as well.
That’s an excerpt, but the full speech (I think) is here:
Obama March 19 Iraq
Oh oh will clinton2 “tear up”? It is coming up to another vote she may well cry.
This black guy who wants change, is the same song blacks sang while
Michael Jordon was playing hoops. “I want to be like Mike!”
This black guy who wants change should say, “I want to be like Obama”.
They may carry the speech but they will then have their right wing shills, I mean “pundits”, tell the American people what they should be thinking. CNN, FOX, MSNBC, is the difference so great?
Calm waters on the Lake today.
I believe they all read from the same WH press releases and call it fair and balanced news.
breakng OT good news ht/ daily kos diarist whose link i’ve lost

My contribution from the Onion…
Written on January 17, 2001. It’s prescient. http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28784
crikey - just saw the Raw Story link above - lol
So now he’s doomed to a life of $50,000 speeches and ‘think tanks’.
A nice side benefit of all the stealing they do is that there’s always plenty of loose cash around to buy silence and provide wingnut welfare.
God always blesses the more powerful force more than the less powerful force (well, David & Goliath excepted).
This is the full speech that Barack gave on Iraq … Link
All I can say to that is, “Well, d’uh!”
This makes him eligible to work at Fox Nooz.
Thank you DWBartoo. I hope someone puts it on Digg or Redit or something. I think it is a sound stratigy and a just course of action for him to take. Thank you again.
I know you meant this as a joke but the real wingnuts, even weirder than St0rmfr0nters are here and they’d take that as the gospel.
There are many crazy fuckers out there and between them and the MSM, I despair we’re going to have John “I can’t control my temper, so I’ll PUSH THE BUTTON” McCain as Prezzie.
It’s very scary. If McCain is elected, the 1930s will look like fucking springtime in Paris.
Barack smacking BushCo, McCain for their foolish war in Iraq …
Good Heavens, Barack is hanging all the problems of America around the necks of Bush & McCain … well done !
What’s the Great Orange Satan?
