I just can't decide what I love most about this video. Is it that:
- The entire justification for St. McCain's campaign is his supposed mastery of foreign policy and the war?
- It happened while he was talking about how he's the best candidate to answer the phone at 3AM (toldya, HRC campaign)?
- The Weekly Standard and The Corner are now claiming that
IraqIran is training al Qaeda in Iraq?
It's almost impossible to imagine the wingnut/media outrage circus if Obama or Clinton had claimed Iran was training al Qaeda. I see Sludge Report headlines like, HOW CAN WE TRUST OBAMA TO FIGHT THE WAR IF HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE ENEMY?, a series of passive-aggressive NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME posts from Glenn Reynolds, declarations by Tweety that the race is already over, grim-faced former generals expressing their disapproval on MSNBC, Fixed News playing the clip over and over and over...
Truly delicious. Commander-in-chief threshold my ass.
Send this to as many undecideds that you know and ask them if we can afford another 4 years of this kind of cluelessness.

I LOVE your title BT!!! Hah hah hah hah…totally pathetic.
BT!!
amazing short ride…is a WEALTH of information ,no?
I know they love each other but sleeping together…..
I think Hillary’s has told the superdelegates “You must support me because I’m going to destroy Obama. Support him, McBush will win in November”. I think she means it. McBsuh isn’t going to have spend money on ads of his own, he’ll just re-use Hillary’s.
Boxturtle (Furious at Hillary, but not yet ready to stay home if she’s the nominee)
It will be a crowded bed for McCain: him and Cindy, Joe, various lobbiests, his favorite rapid pastors. I am sure we don’t have anything to worry about.
Please don’t forget to Digg!
Good Morning Blue Texan and Firedogs,
Chimpigula’s speech - was this long planned or a last minute attempt to pre empt Senator Obama ?
Make that foaming-at-the-mouth RABID pastors.
Long planned? As if!
I was wondering if there was some drag racin thumpers I didn’t know about!
Hmmmmm. I think you mean post-empt
Nice video of the Three Muckateers.
That’s Schmuckateers
Perhaps not pre-empt, but maybe his staffers at some tactical level recognized that they needed to go BEFORE Obama. Because if they went after, they’d be cooked–no one would pay any attention at all and the comparisions would be laughable.
Morning BT,
what struck me about the video was McCain’s reaction when told he was wrong. as though, to him, the insurgents and Al-Qaida were essentially interchangeable — instead of two completely different entities, with two completely different goals, springing from two completely different inspirations for the fight.
this devil is actually talking about torture chambers
That was a moving comment from Eve Carson’s father you put in the last thread.
Iraq?Iran….they’re all the same to the reich wingers who will ask, “What difference does it make?” GAK! Apologies, pups…just can’t seem to shake this bout of depression; will go lurk in the corner.
Oh I am so gone, “rape rooms” was on my take-a-shot list
Schmuckateers, Muckateers, they are really F*ckateers!
If you are so fucking clueless that Lieberman has to correct you. . .holy chit.
“Will McCain Have Lieberman Next to Him at 3A.M.?”
Oh, I misunderstood. All this time, I thought she was talking about some “commander-in-chief threshold” that everyone but Obama had crossed.
I’m struch by how this makes HRC look bad.
She’s elevated him, and linked herself to McCain, with regard to their reaching some CinC threshold.
Having McCain make foreign policy/military policy blunders like this leaves a huge opening for BHO to pummel HRC with it. Reminds votes yet again the Hillary had BAD judgement.
He’s a better man than I am.
It’s a given that they still assume we’re complete idiots and don’t know the difference between Sunni and Shia. (Unfortunately, they’re right…most ‘mercans don’t.) However, policymakers, military folks, intelligence folks, and foreign govts do know the difference very well, so I find the disconnect interesting. Has he drunk Cheney’s koolaid so well he can’t undo the damage? Is he losing his mind? Hmmmm.
I daresay I can guess at a passage in Obama’s speech today.
Is this speech a mashup of the one he gave in the run-up and a few he gave shortly after we shocked and awed them into submission?
Chimp is up live slurring on about his Strajee.
Me too. It’s apparent where some of her “specialness” came from.
was there a disturbance in the force? there was a lovely new post just a few minutes ago..
The “defense” industry has a lot of big guns and big bombs and they need to use them to continue to make oodles of money…. apparently it makes not one whit of difference who they kill as long as they can keep making killing machines and make lots and lots of money.
sounds like 2004 don’t it ?
I saw that too, it must have been a mirage because I can’t find it again.
Short ride is the little highly necessary BUREAOCRAT with the note pad…he takes down every detail, then sticks his index finger up into the wind…NO scruples what so ever, but he is pious as hell
There was a McClatchy headline yesterday about how Lindsey Graham and McCain were spending a lot of time together. Knowing the rumors about Graham, my mind immediately leaped to a different interpretation than what they had intended. *g* Someone there must have thought the same thing, because the headline now reads “Is Lindsey Graham auditioning for VP?”.
Oh, Raven, you’re from Georgia and you don’t know about the Faster Pastor race? (You can’t make this stuff up, you know…)
God, him or governor moonpie
Leave John McCain alone! Sob….

done.
Bullseye, Blue Texan, thanks.
Thanks! Dirt track but still.
So it will be Lovely Lyndsey in bed with him at 3:00 AM?
Well, yeah, the one established rule of this campaign is “never follow Obama in giving a speech.”
Bu’ush: “The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…The Surge is workin’, my strajee agin the Terrists is workin’, … beatin’ their Grim Eye-Dee-Ahlo-Jee…”
Bag of hammers, meet your candidate.
OT
So W is at the Pentagon now giving a speech. The speech is his revisionist history of his illegal, immoral invasion of Iraq. One of his flourishes was now Saddam Hussein is no longer invading his neighbors, gassing his people, etc., implying that that was what he was doing when we invaded. You might as well say that X invaded America and it’s a good thing because now America is no longer treating black people as property.
This man is soooo deeply evil…
Shocked, awed and left to rot.
Asiatimes Pepe Escobar on the glorious Bush/Cheney war.

The word to drink on is “TerRr” or any fascimile thereof.
I am already on the floor.
I can see the 3 AM call to President Playboy McCain right now.
“Drop two bombs on who Joe says, and call me in the morning.”
our troops and civilians!
Sounds like a Strajee to me.
1,786 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen BoxTurtle:
“Furious at Hillary but not yet ready to stay home if she’s the nominee.”
Well…get ready, not to stay home but to spend your time and resources on progressive races down ticket and locally and write in your preference for President. Mrs. Clinton-McCain will be worse than McCain if McCain has a progressive Democratic Congress and Senate. If Clinton-McCain wins then the Democratic majority will last 2 years and the party will be irrevocably damaged.
But let’s not project here…Mrs. Clinton-McCain is NOT gunna gain the Democratic nomination and she only makes the party stronger if she pulls a Lieberman. The super-delegates are all elected officials with constituencies and self-interest in the strongest possible party and candidate…all we hafta do is keep Obama within 15% (and I think he’s gunna do considerably better’n that) in Pennsylvania and the elders in the party are gunna join Howard Dean in a little refresher course on political reality with Mrs. Clinton-McCain.
No matter what happens, the Democratic Party is not gunna be blackmailed into runnin’ a Republican at the top of the ticket…NOT THIS TIME!!
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THE FUCKIN’ WITCH CAN’T SCARE ANYBODY ANYMORE: NOT THIS TIME!!!
what did he just say about Jiminy? (Kimmell? cricket?)

W now on CSPAN giving his 5 year anniversary speech. Sounds an awful lot like dominoes to me.
Well said!
The sorry mess that is McShame’s attempt to justify continuing on a war that BushCo lied us into, that Congress enabled, that the embedded media propaganized is a sad, sad milepost indeed for this country.
Wonder if any of these warmongers are spending the day among the wounded at Walter Reed or the silence of Arlington asking themselves what they have wrought?
Back to catch up on the thread….
Prairie Today: Shockingly Awful
“They are all volunteers” oh yea.
Jeeze you guys are brave. There is no way that I could/will listen to that as*hole. (Exception….” I will resign in disgrace and take cheenee with me”)The man is a mendacious moron or a prevaricating prick….whatever.
No, they’re probably having a cocktail party to celebrate Glorious Leader and his rousing success.
The Transforming Power of Liberty!(tm) Now in new, improved Lemon-fresh IRAN scent!
Applause is sparse & unenthusiastic.
karma…
rose-colored martini glasses for the cocktail party
well, since I’m here with Jose Curevo, kinda makes it bearable
darn, the recorded march music is drowning out the thunderous applause from the audience.
I know I should be more mature and capable of listening to him, but I cannot. Thank you all for translating.
Blue Texan:
The title of this post is hilarious.
It’ll be a three-way with Clinton.
what they did was take the shreddings from all his other speeches and taped it up into a new speech.
Get another bottle if you are going to listen to the MSM aholes parsing his profundities
I always admire the stirring words of our glorious “War President”. He is so knowledgeable about the experiences shared by people in the military, having been one himself, you know. He makes me physically ill with his self aggrandizing, Walter Mitty-like delusional rantings. He had to go to the only place on Earth where he could find that many people in a group at one time where there would not be a single voice raised in dissent.
He gives slime molds a bad name.
were there any words or was it all pictures?
Other than the fact that Al Qaeda is attacking Iran’s Shiite allies in Iraq, do we have any evidence that Iran isn’t helping Al Qaeda with training and/or weapons?
Not really but we do have video of Ahmadinejad being greeted with sweets and flowers.
Well, I have to stop watching the SOB in Chief spouting lies & head in to work. Don’t want to crash the car from rage & angry tears on the freeway, so I’d better turn it off now. Ed Henry now describing Bush speech as “chest beating”, “swagger.”
I’ve got to do something for a more peaceful & caring world today, no matter how small it might seem. Attending an anti-war vigil this evening. Ripples outward, creates more ripples.
Read all you good folks later.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy…
I dunno, there is a retired General on MSNBC hammerin him for ignoring Afghanistan and his Al Quieda BS.
I presume that was by Al Qaeda’s opponents in the mostly Shiite Iraqi government.
I couldn’t listen. Did he say anything more about going to Mars?
Shorter McCain: If we leave Iraq, the Taliban wins.
Sorry Elliott, forgot to remove the reference to yours @17.
Bill? ;-)
he may have been speaking from there
if ya think about it…the war in eyerak has been a resounding success to booosh, and his rangers,an absolute winfall
Oh no. That was actually Al Queda operatives, trained in Iran.
This brings to mind a very funny political cartoon……
Also, am I the only one who finds it, I dunno, weird, that everywhere McCain goes, Huckleberry goes? Is there something we should know?
Bu’ush wistfully wishes he was a younger man who could suit up and manfully throw down on the front lines.
there are candlelight peace vigils tonight, I’ve gotten emails from moveon and DFA, I think it was…at least two groups promoting.
But how about we all simply light candles in our windows this night…a peace vigil that’s personal, no excuses, easy to do…in remembrance of those who serve and those who’ve fallen. And rebuke of the swaggering warmongers.
speaking of retired generals - saw that Maj Gen Paul Eaton was at the Take Back America conference - have either Christy or Jane mentioned meeting him ?
- he is there for the Darcy Burner, Donna Edwards, et al - Responsible Plan to End Iraq War group
Crosstimbers - Nope, and no Switchgrass either
But the news yesterday said there was hope for Alzheimer’s patients. Exercise was key, presumably something Mr. McCain hoped for from his trophy spouse; doesn’t seem to be working for him. Good thing that knowledgeable peacenik Jolly Joe is always nearby instead.
Jeff Gannon has the inside scoop on that.
yeah, Mr. Romance never met a front line he couldn’t go AWOL from…including his own administration.
Should be no surprise but on Morning Joe this morning they showed this, chuckled and said Well, the dems are having a field day with this. They then went on to spend the next 20-30 minutes being outraged at Obama for not doing enough yesterday to distance himself from his pastor and outright calling him a liar. Made me sick.
Nothing out of the ordinary. He’s just looking for cheap rugs.

Senator Specter is going to be on wnyc this afternoon. Mosttly to talk about how he coped with cancer, I gather. But are there any Qs you want me to ask in the comments section? Already requested that host, Leonard Lopate, ask him why he sez one thing, then votes the opposite way.
I particularly loved how Bu’ush compared Eye-Rack today with Revolutionary War period America.
like in Poland with Solidarity
Regarding Threshold Crosser McCain: since there seems to be some confusion between Al Qaeda, Shiites, Extreemists, Sunnis, Saracens, Moors, Mussellmen, Orcs, and Comanches, I wonder if he could specify exactly who is the “greatest threat of the 21st Century.”
Realworld @ 91 — send Ho-Joe-I-Watch-No-Mo the Rachel Maddow reality check on Values Voters. Oh, and tell him he’s a schmuck…from Prairie.
BobbyG @ 94 — yes, but he’s the Redcoat.
Elliott @ 95 — yes.
Meanwhile, over at the Onion, the Army is sponsoring a “Bring your Daughter to War” day!
Did anyone point out that the invaders and Occupiers were defeated in that endeavor?
The Spokane Spokesman-Review republished its March 18, 2003 editorial in its main editorial portion of today’s newspaper. Basically, that five-year old editorial questioned the wisdom of invading Iraq and pointed out the flaws in Bush’s arguments. Then, there is the lead-in to the old editorial:
The five intervening years have produced growing frustration - frustration that might have been lessened, if not avoided, had the nation’s political leadership taken time to explore the valid questions that many skeptics were asking. Instead, the skeptics found their Americanism challenged, and the Bush administration brushed aside their concerns on the way to war. Congress, the American press and other voices that might have demanded accountability were quieted by the risk of seeming disloyal.
It is fascinating reading, unfortunately, if you only read that newspaper, you would have become aware of Mr. Bush’s problems only after his poor response to Katrina.
Because my husband doesn’t really have time for this and, often, only reads our daily paper, the Spokesman-Review, he only knew about some of the stuff going on, because I, the internet junkie, told him. Although, due to our military backgrounds and high security clearances, we both knew how the war would go. Our only surprise was how totally inept the Bush administration was. I didn’t and don’t think much of him and his boys and girls, but did think the military would have done a better job.
Proud to be a 21-year veteran of the USAF and unwilling to recommend the military to anyone at this time.
details, details
Nope, that is the essence of Snarlin’ Arlen. Tried to broker a “compromise” early on over FISA that would have given Dick Cheney everything he wanted and more, voted for both Roberts and Alito, voted for the Military Commissions Act despite its lack of habeas corpus which he said he wanted, voted for both the temporary Protect America Act and the Jello Jay Senate permanent extension. He is a blowhard hack full of sound and fury signifying nothing.
Cheney once again stated that he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about what the public thinks about Iraq.
This is awful, eCHAN, but could you ask the good Senator what his retirement plans might be?
Some in PA, think that he might wish to ‘explore’ possibilities in that region of his life.
This might be something to consider sooner, Arlen, rather than later …
Thanks. I already included the FISA example in my earlier comment. I’ll add another comment with your other examples.
That’s because Cheney doesn’t live in a democracy.
Yes, general A-rab bad people = all the same.
I see that despite EW having banned Jodi, Karl’s Kids continue to haunt the newly lucrative airwaves.
Mr. Obama’s speech was excellent. He demanded of all Americans what we demand of bloggers here: a sense of their own history, respect for each other and hope. And a willingness to pitch in and get our communal jobs done instead of gloating that, “I’ve got mine, so screw you; but let me tell you why that’s good for you.”
Predictably, not all will be up to the task, but if our reach doesn’t exceed our grasp, what’s a heaven for. The opposition is less Hillary than the pre-packaged lies, gross incompetence and biblical profligacy of George W. Bush and his neocons. Most Americans know that already. Are they ready to hear it said out loud? Are they ready to turn off “Llandro” and act for themselves? We’ll soon find out.

You might do that yourself. Here’s the link. And you can listen online at wnyc.org. It seems it’ll be the first segment after the noon news, about 12:06edt.

Thanks, eCHAN.
For those of you who are cynical ponder this: This shows the value of the junkets that our politicians frequently engage in, often ridiculed as wasteful. Without this trip and its mandatory press conferences Joe Leiberman would never have thought of telling the next potential commander in chief that he was clueless about what and whom we are fighting. Since I’m sure Mc hasn’t had a briefing from the administration and I’m sure that in his 20 years on the armed services committee they have never talked about this, this was a trip well worth the time. If not for this information, we might find ourselves invading a country for some specious reason. Another tragedy averted. I’ll sleep better now.
Both Cheney and Bush are making so much money off of Iraq that they intend to keep it going as long as possible. McCain’s 100 years statments brings tears of joy to their eyes. 100 years also means several generations of families Bush and Cheney will not be serving.
I wonder: could it be that Cheney took McInsane to Eye-wrack to talk him into having him r
