One of the least credible of the bloodsucking lobbyists who runs McCain’s campaign, Charles Black, is whining that Paul’s supporters are getting the could shoulder because Paul hasn’t prostrated himself and kissed the ring, promised to be a good boy and stop telling everyone that the idea of endless war in Iraq is a bad idea. That’s not likely to happen. Unlike McCain and other Insider political hacks, Paul actually believes in the stuff he talks about.
[]
Over 800,000 Republicans voted for Paul so far– more than for Giuliani or Fred Thompson– and his campaign raised over $32 million. Many Paul supporters say they are more likely to sit out the November election or vote for Obama than vote for McCain.
Paul is just ideologically driven and cranky enough to be a real Naderite fly in the Republican ointment come November. In honor of the enduring public service Paul seems to be lending to the country on this, the fifth anniversary of the McCain/Lieberman "noble" war in Iraq, let’s resurrect the YouTube of the blimp.
Meanwhile the Bullshit Express, it appears, has a few gaps in his national security knowledge.
Who would’ve guessed?

Odd situation this elecion year. Goopers don’t really like their nominee- and dems are split down the middle ready to level blows at one another. Beats me how this turns out- although it’s hard to see how McBush wins running on the Cheney agenda.
neither one of them?
Go Ron Paul!
hehehe fly in the ointment. couldn’t happen to a nicer party
The media try to build up McCain as some kind of super candidate that Democrats should be quaking in their boots about. The truth is he can’t even count on the Republican wingnut base and 2/3 of Americans don’t agree with him on Iraq, and he has said he knows squat about the economy just as its tanking. McCain as a creditable candidate, and not an old an expendable goat on whom the coming Republican debacle in November can be blamed on, is very much a media creation.
Jane!
Third party candidacy? Go Ron Paul! Although given the fact that he’s a white supremacist I wouldn’t want to see him do too well.
Go Ron Paul!
Or Not!!!
Why are we paying for the McCain/Lieberman/Graham trip???
http://blog.washingtonpost.com…..t_wes.html
(he did place a call to Mr. Abbas)
i’m not sure Paul has enough supporters for that really to influence the election … that’s why McCan’t is pandering to white evangelicals …if they stay home, he’s not got a snow balls chance in the french quarter.
McCain is stuck with Bush whose picture on the NYT site looks as if he is in full pout mode.
How sweet it is.
In the context of a spoiler for the republics. Oh hell yeah go Paul!
Just love those idealogue Pauliacs, like moths circling the flame & tossing $32 million down the toilet. More & bigger Ron Pauls for the Rs.
I hope Ron, McCain, Deadeye, Junior, and all the rest owned a lot of Bear Stearns stock.
My favorite spin from the wingnuts/media is that a Paul independent run will hurt the Democrats.
Uh-huh.
In the context of a spoiler for the republics. Oh hell yeah go Paul!
oh.
Agreed!!!
I’m not daft enough to believe he has a chance, I like that he is going to be a pain in the side of the repugs because his folks won’t contribute, campaign or vote for McCain
Had dinner at some gooper friends’ house last night. They aren’t too into politics this year. He thinks that McBush will win on account of dems tearing each other apart. She thinks McBush is too old (she has her seventy fifth birthday this week.
I’d say that support for McBush is not a “surge”.
most of his supporters are flaky young college students at the moment … I doubt they’d hang in there through summer with any one … they’ll probably go back to reading Ayn Rand and annoying people in student unions
Heh, anybody who has met or knows McCain could have guessed. To say he is not very bright is an understatement; he is dense and temperamental. The more he is reminded of this gaffe, the more he will lash out and make an even further ass of himself. There should be people at every campaign stop personally chiding him; he will go nuts.
plus, he’s even having senior moments on his speciality: war and mayhem
I used to play golf with a gooper who was a head honcho in the nuclear arms industry. He said that he worked with McBush many times and that he’s dumb as a stump…
Hey goopers- didn’t we already try this dumb president thing? How’d it work out?
Maybe he’ll sing another Beach Boys song:
Sorry OfT.
I belong to Feingold’s Progressive Patriots. I guess he stole this idea from you Jane. He’s asking us to vote for one of the candidates below.
Ronnie Musgrove – Mississippi
Rick Noriega – Texas
Andrew Rice – Oklahoma
Jeanne Shaheen – New Hampshire
Mark Udall – Colorado
Tom Udall – New Mexico
Mark Warner – Virginia
Russ will send $5,000 to whomever wins. I have no clue.
Pressed to elaborate, McCain said it was “common knowledge and has been reported in the media that al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran, that’s well known. And it’s unfortunate.” A few moments later, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, standing just behind McCain, stepped forward and whispered in the presidential candidate’s ear. McCain then said: “I’m sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not al-Qaeda.”
Bwahahahah! What an idiot McInsane is. He talks about his extensive foriegn policy experience but demostrates he doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground. This should be used in a campaign ad. Classic truly.
Cheney, McCan’t and Loverman are hoping to do an insider deal over the biggest issue besides the economy that could derail the GOP’s continued hold over the presidency – Iraq.
I think this is terribly unfair. McCain is imbued with a strong sense of history. When we were attacked on 9/11, he knew that we must respond just like we did when the Chinese attacked Pearl Harbor and that we had to fight it out much like the French did at Stalingrad.
By the way, Carl Levin has written an op ed piece for NY times today about seating the delegates from michigan and florida…
they were a rabid buch though. they followed us from a park concert to the parking lot trying to convince us of why Ron Paul would be good for this country. Mr wobbs made a comment of RP being a white supremist and the conversation pretty much ended (I think the kid’s brain short circuited)
I thought it was the Germans who bombed Pearl Harbor.
Not Musgrove – I know him and he’s an idiot.
It would be a coup to have noriega but mark warner is so so awesome..i’m torn
i know, they were … i had a bunch of them in my freshmen macroeconomics class last fall … all they were interested in was the gold standard … I still have one emailing me on my facebook about how Bearn Sterns would have not crashed if we were on the gold standard
Everyone knows the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.
no, blame canada!
You gotta love Ron Paul. The man genuinely believes what he says. Personally, I find his statements too general but, hey, the whole campaign is a general statement. At lease his is believable. He is consistent. His supporters are just like him. They are one determine lot. No wonder he collected so much money.
Is McCain’s “common knowledge” like “urban myth”? Taking al Quida into Iran, training them and turning them loose in Iraq sounds more like a US military tactic – Something more on the lines of Ronald Reagan and arming and training his Moujahadine, now al Quida. My, my, what a web we weave!
Since the masses are asses, this language is being touted by Cheney and McCain and now MSM. I wonder if it will work this time? Hummm! Fool me once…..
Must admit it’s kinda cute. The few folks around our area who had RunPaulie signs out apparently refuse to take them down. I presume township trustees a-fearful to order them to take ‘em down (as required by twp zoning regs, donchaknow)? I keeps visualizing cranky old geezers just inside the front door, on guard, muskets at the ready.
I ain’t gonna touch um.! Nosiree!
People like that are difficult to reason with, well downright impossible to reason with
lol, muskets
McBush NEEDS Lieberwurst to tell him who he’s bombin….
Lieberwurst could be the first guy to lose the vice presidency for two different parties.
Get Off My Lawn ya damn Democrats!
This just up on the NYT frontpage.
5 years into the Iraq occupation and there is still no Iraqi army that can function effectively and on its own. Color me surprised.
Has McBush gotten the prez out to campaign fer him yet? Says he wants him whenever he ain’t too busy. Don’t LOOK too busy?
That would be the most fun outcome of this entire prez campaign. Suppose it’s too much to hope for.
rediculous
paul might believe the war is a bad idea but nobody really beleives there can be a market without regulaion, they say they believe it so they can get their bills payed by the middle class but they know without a doubt the market fails without the regulations that protect them
28 & 33.
Aren’t YOU going to feel smug & important when Abrams quotes ya?!
Madness Madness Madness
And as for you, Busted 40, you couldn’t PAY me to step on yer muddy lawn.
I wish I had a dawg, tho… *g*
I agree.
And the shame of it is the election will still be close.
Clusterfuck’s been trainin that there EEROCKY army fer a good five years. They jest don LEARN!
Bush being busy is hilarious. He’s just a figurehead and everyone knows it.
The Paulies will either sit it out or they may vote for Nader. Remember Nader? Hasn’t been in the news much lately. Maybe I missed it, if so, it must have been on page 13 lower inside corner, five lines.
So much brush. So little thyme.
the prez is only doing high level fundraisng things ..
he’s at the salon getting a makeover.
President GW Clusterfuck is busy with his wishfull thinking classes- practice, practice, practice.
Hey- this fuckin economy looks GREAT–and IROCK is swell!!!
Wish the White House would publish a pic of GW Clusterfuck poised before the wheel of the great ship of state- dressed like Cap’n Crunch.
Sorry-must disagree. My father-in-law was a Libertarian activist, and dragged me into working for Paul on his ‘88 Libertarian campaign. They really do believe it.
IMO, if you’re going to understand someone, you must concede their sincerity.
Maybe that’s his problem. He should be at the neurosurgeon’s getting a lobotomy.
Libertarians jes wanna be left the fuck alone- by religious whackos- the IRS- the US Army–
EVERYONE.
How old’s Nader? Close to 100? Would be a great geezer vs. geezer contest between Ralphie and McBush.
oh. i think that was last march.
As I listened to shrubs painful words today, I heard over and over what a brilliant job he’s done and how right he is and how he saved America and what a great decider he is. All’s good. No problem. The peeps must be proud of me cauz the veep is.
How much did his rating drop? Shrub speaks. Confidence plummets.
I’m sorry, if I had a word with your dad, he would agree, he does not believe it
he would have to admit, he likes the concept of money, the concept of law, of courts to protect property, the concept of ownership
nobody believes there should be no regulation, just some people believe the only regulations that should exist are the ones that have other people paying their bills
ron paul has more economic experience then just about anyone and he knows there is no such thing as a market without regulation
your dad on the other hand didn’t realize just what regulation is
gosh, i had totally forgotten about nader but then again he is waiting unitil the dems have a nominee
hey. watch the geezer talk. next you’ll be pickin’ on old biddies.
*reaches for high-tech trekking stick*
How will we know that the Nader candidacy has begun? Wheelchair noises?
I know a lot of libertarian types. When someone driving on the wrong side of the road hits their car, they’re just like everybody else, they call a cop.
ron paul is not sincere, he is lying
he knows the market cannot exist without regulation, he knows he needs the courts, he knows he needs the concept of money, he knows he needs the concept of title and ownership and he knows all of these are regulations
he is not sincere when he said “let the market decide”
the market in fact HAS decided when it imposes regulations, he knows that as well, he just makes believe if he says otherwise people will fall for it
darn those regulations that tell you which side of the road to drive on, DARN them
2nd warning
Do you think he will pounce (unlikely at his age) on the Dem or go at both candidates? I can’t figure out what his game is so am at a loss about his campaign issues.
When the geezers debate, should they be armed with hearing aids?
You are confusing Libertarianism with anarchy.
What do you make of this at HuffPo:
Democratic congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the co-chair of Red to Blue, a Democratic congressional group working to expand the number of Democrats in the House of Representative. Democrats believe for the first time they have a good chance of unseating one or more of the three Republican Cuban-Americans representing South Florida — Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Mario Diaz-Balart.
The Democrats running to unseat them will have to do so, however, without the support of Wasserman Schultz. Her ties of friendship with the three Cuban-Americans are such, she says, that she cannot support her fellow Democrats. She will have to sit this one out. So will Democratic congressman Kendrick Meek, who reportedly has close ties to the Diaz-Balart family.
visions of handfuls of yellowed paper flying about the room.
issues, issues, issues!?! they’re in here somewhere. *mutter mutter*
That’s what I say – deregulate driving. If it works well, deregulate corporations. The same people driving are running corporations. The outcome should equate.
three!
Out. See everyone later.
Has the R party ever really wanted a smart presidential candidate? They seem to prefer dumb ones, the dumber the better. However, I think they went too far with junior & are now regretting it.
Libertarians simply want to keep more of their earnings and care little for the commons.
They are greedy as the republicans.
Goopers lookin fer a phi beta kappa—but all they could find was McBush….maybe they looked in the wrong place?
de-nial comes before regret. right?
what’s up next?
Bush’s Iraq speech can be found here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news…..319-2.html
We have been making fun of McCain because he confused the connection between al Qaeda and Iran but he is not the only one. From Bush’s speech today:
Even though al Qaeda in Iraq is not the original al Qaeda, Bush conflates the two. He then implies that if the Sunnis won the civil war, then that means al Qaeda in Iraq and that means al Qaeda. So if we leave, al Qaeda would win. But at the same time Shia Iran who you would think would lose from such an outcome is also declared a winner and apparently based on its
defeatvictory in Iraq will spread its hegemony across the Middle East.So maybe McCain wasn’t misspeaking but just repeating the Bush line he had received.
I always imagine libertarians livin in the mountains of Wyoming- in a survival shack with a large arsenal to protect their beans.
Libertarians are “off grid”.
If someone was attackin yer beans- would ya call the government- or just blow em away?
YOU may be a libertarian!!
Na… Karen Kwiatkowski and Lew Rockwell are libertarians.
The are into the von Meises economics. Weird folks. They love guns.
And their white women.
LARGE white women.
if 2 half-wits leave a room, does that add up to one wit less?
He has been remarkedly silent over the past 8 years under shrub and has been vocal about his ‘issues’ with the dem candidates so following that logic it would seem that he will go after he dem candidate to peel off votes. He very well might go after both but i somehow don’t see it
“Hand me the AK47 ma- ah hear tires comin up the drive.”

Why Have Public Schools?
The State Is the Greatest Liar
the part of wyoming that has mountains (Jackson Hole, Teton) are occupied by some really well off liberal types now meander to teh prairies and well hehehe they can be a bit umm separatist like
If the govt. had GW Clusterfuck permanently in charge- I would become a libertarian.
Well OK- let’s put em in Northern Arizona- I’ve SEEN em THERE!
Here is the speech that Obama gave this morning about Iraq, that some of you were asking about in the last thread … Link
twain and wobblybits, thanks for the help.
Obama now givin speeches in front of a sea of flags.
He’s LEARNING—any crosses?
How large are they ?
Aw c’mon, we could use some laughs …
there is a large ron paul following here in se ohio………but many of them don’t like that he ’sat’ on his money and didn’t campaign much with it.
i saw more yard signs for ron paul than any other candidate, national or local.
here’s a link to the russ feingold progressive patriots fund site.
the senate candidate that gets the most votes on the site will get $5,000 added to their campaign funds.
http://www.progressivepatriots…..ngers.html
and once again, my new favorite site, itemized political contributions lists for pretty much everyone, back to 1978.
from FEC records. it is very interesting and eye-opening…….i like the employment info, too, when the contributions were made, had no idea who worked for who way back when.
pull up lurita doan, she’s got deep pockets.
easy to use, and is quick response load even on dial-up.

reisz at 6 says-”Although given the fact that he’s a white supremacist I wouldn’t want to see him do too well.”
i know you like facts, (no snark), so took a minute to say-
this was de-bunked, was an article published in a newsletter that he ’backed’ a long long time ago, not written by him, he was not aware of it, but when he found out about it, he took responsibility for it. since he took responsibility for it, it stuck like glue.

and the libertarians y’all are talking about aren’t the ones i know around here….and there’s a lot of them….think maybe your education on libertarians is coming from msm…..where are you getting your information?… do you know any libertarians?
if i was ever in a bind, i’d definitely want them on my side.
and can’t think of one of them that is fat, rwcole.
most of them that call in to the small-time local radio show are going obama, if anyone cares, and i’m sure they’d appreciate what you’re saying about them……they’re for obama, and say specific positive things on why they’re changing their support to him. even financial support, and they have a lot of that, cuz ya know, since they don’t pay any taxes, they have all that gold under their broken-down porches to send to him.

no, I am not
liberatrianism IS anarchy
however the “libertarians” seem to want the regulations they like, they just don’t want the regulations that force them to pay their own bills
libertarianism is in fact, anacrchy
and i should add, there IS a group here that say they are ’constitutionalists’, that some think are libertarian,
now, that’s a scary bunch.
Giuliani said, “Ron Paul won every debate.”
Ron Paul is the only believer in the Constitution still standing.
You mean to say Ron Paul is tossing John Mc Cain under the bus?
I understand after falling off his horse on the way to holy sites in Anbar Province with his equally unequipped military entourage at tax payer expense, Mc Cain began writing epistles to the unwashed–Bagdhad Bob, his scribe at his side, or was that “Say it ain’t so, Joe,” but I was shocked to hear Paulites calling Old Walnuts, “Jihad John, the millionaire’s trophy husband, Sultan of Political Poo-per-y.”
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…
