McMansions into McTenements. Gated McCommunities that used to be towns and cities until the McWealthy decided that it was all for me and none for thee, taking even the taxes their McWorkers pay to subsidize their own companies.

Pastor Hagee and the christianists who follow McBush must have excised quite a lot from their bible, starting with the Good Samaritan.

Your comment inspired me to go and learn something about that matter & I discovered that there have been numerous successful attempts to change the composition of SCOTUS, albeit none in modernity. FDR had a situation analogous to what the Democrats would encounter should they sweep and be overcome with a wave of progressivism.

In the fdl newsbox is the story that two hedge funds have forced their way on to the board of the NYT company.

I love the fact that one of those hedge funds is named “Harbinger.”

When you name your hedge fund “Harbinger,” you’re daring the universe not to turn the name into a dark, ironic joke.

My understanding is that FDR tried it by Presidential decree/fiat. With a nice super majority of Dems in the House and Senate after ‘08, it could be passed as a bill. I do not believe the firm make-up of SCOTUS is mandated by the constitution and as we know, someone would have to have “standing” to sue and there is no way all the WATB at the Heritage, AEI, Federalist Society, or Cato would have any standing whatsoever.

The “Strict Constructionalists” presently on the bench would never permit that! It wouldn’t fly when FDR tried it and it will never be enacted now. At least not in my lifetime & Roberts & Alito are younger than I am….

In fact, a priority should be to expand SCOTUS to 13 as soon as a Democrat is sworn into the Presidency.
