Dagnabit, nahant, ya denied me a hat trick today…! 8-P
Wow, you learn something new everyday. I had never heard of the white panthers (awesome).
Evening pups, had a lil at home spa day (no garden work today, the wind was fierce here, it even took down part of a large pine tree across from us), read through Kirk and Ian’s post and now I’m here really needing a drink. So I just want to know…
whose bartending?

hey suzanne
well all i can offer is some ’sipping’ tequila.

Richard Kimball revealed that McCain was standing on a riser behind his podium.
Yeah, yeah, Pucker…! ;-)
Hi Suz, hi pups. I got nothin’!
Oh, but I did spend the better part of the afternoon and evening with my littlest nephew (age 6). Did my heart a world of good. He’s going to help me give names to my next two kittehs, whenever I get them.
short man complex. shudda figured that when he was standing shorter than boosh in ‘the hug’ picture – but then i figured boosh had issued some edict that no one could stand taller than he does, similar to that used by the king of siam in the king and i
oh wait we have some Bass ale and guiness too (guys were having black and tans last night)
I want to know if Al Franken has denounced and renounced Father Guido Sarducci?
-G
Wow! And he has such short arms too. Is this a result of torture? Not joking, just asking.
Nice.
-G
From BBC News:
His arms are screwed up because they were broken and not treated properly during captivity.
-G
Aloha, LL! More Kittens…? To paraphrase an ad…! *g*
Here’s Robert Greenwald’s new video (#2) on FOX trying take down Obama.
I didn’t have the stomach to watch his interview on Faux. So how bad was it?
Thank you, GregB, I’ve wondered and didn’t want to make any kind fun of the observation.
Okay, so was Bill Kristol wearing Saddam’s shoes that led Preznit Fudd on his Most Excellent Mess O’Potamian adventure?
Be vewy vewy kwi-et, weah huntin tewwawists…
no linkie loohoo
The shortness of his arms is hereditary, but his inability to lift them above the shoulder is a result of torture, so I’ve heard.
Aloha CT! Yep, more kittens, sometime later this spring. Callie will never be replaced, but I miss having cats around here :-)
hahahahaha
Who is the good father?
I am so sick and tired of the renounce, denounce, disown… crap… I renounce and Denounce and disown everyone… has anyone one won yet?
Must of been special today at Costco…. talked to Congressman Harry Mitchell and his wife, my state senator and other local elected officials….
Dang, Bio, that’s some risky business and tragic… I’ve been tasked to take out dated munitions and know first hand the consequences, they have to let it cook off, no other options are available…! 8-(
famous comedian – from snl – the guy who played the italian priest
Don’t know about hereditary short arms (didn’t they inspect those at Annapolis?) but his inability to raise them above his shoulders is a result of his guest status at the Hanoi Hilton and the kindly ministrations of his innkeepers.
not the one I was looking for – but still pretty darned good…

Yep…. suburb of Phoenix…
Is wobblybits brazilian, or do you just like the coffee?
I’m out here enjoying the wonderfulness of AZ for about 10 or so more days. Been here since the beginning of February… in the Mesa area.

Kinda like my predilection to Kona coffee…! Which I’ve picked and dried…!
It’s Saturday night…Lively Up Yourself
gasp
I didn’t see your response before I posteed.
muita obrigada (thanks so much)
McCain told workers at a gun factory, “I will follow Osama vin Laden to the gates of hell and I will shoot him with one of your products.” How did he later clarify this declaration?
a) Of course, I didn’t mean the literal gates of hell. I don’t even know where they are.
b) I shouldn’t limit myself to your products, because, when I find him, I may not be carrying a gun made by you.
c) I certainly didn’t meann I would actually shoot him. I am certainly angry at him, but…I would not shoot him myself.
Heh, heh!
mr still drinks it happily (brazilian of course)
The drunks are pouring out on the streets of north beach tonight… celebrating St. Pat’s Day earlier and earlier every year it seems. I remember when it wasn’t so commercial… back then it was all about the… uh… drinking, I guess…

i really should disqualify myself from your quiz loohoo. being an r is an unfair advantage.
Apparently you’re an old salt or swabbie, eh? *g*
Oh sweet Jeebus please tell me you are kidding.
and just in case RBG is here:
Southside, the Jukes, and Bruuuuce…
(and yeah, it’s a repeat from last night – sometimes I just get selfish that way….)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ3amVBypEk
Very well Suzanne… hi NPB. I’m 300+ pages into my earth-shattering memoirs now and have gotten my old editor from Penthouse to do the final edit. It’s amazing how interesting, exciting and funny one’s life is when they’re in charge of telling the tale… and brave? My god, what courage and bon vivance in face of inevitable doom…
The White Panther Party morphed into the Rainbow Peoples Party as I stated before because some white supremecists thought itmwas for them. Other people called it John Sinclairs Guitar Army. Maybe it was a midwest thing but we sure as hell f***ed shit up back then. Tne ironic part of it was that as a result of some of the action we took some people who got busted were given the option of jail time or army time. 2 of my friends older brothers ended up in Vietnam as a result of choosing army time
being an r is an unfair advantage.
pretty sure that I’ve never heard those words strung togetther before….
Two of these statements refer to Bush. Which two refer to McCain?
a) At thirteen, he yelled, “Fuck this” when he played golf poorly, prompting his mother to make him go sit in the car.
b) In keeping with his nicknames Punk and Nasty, he appeared in his high-school yearbook wearing a trenchcoat with a turned up collar and with a cigarette dangling from his lips.
c) As a toddler, if he didn’t get his way he’d hold his breath until he fainted.
d) When he was a boy, he liked to blow up frogs with firecrackers.
sweet. i never would have known that you have an editor from penthouse in your past. you never said a word :)
i prefer to think of it as knowing thy enemy – knowledge is power and all that
Not kidding. After the quiz, I’ll give you my source.
I’ll say A and B.
b&c
heh – I’ll play.
I know that d) is Georgie, so I’m just guessing here, that a) is too…
well damn. but thanks for standing up and trying to do something to improve things.
Hi Scarlot! Did you travel the world and carry anti-Bush materials?
a,b,c,d
b and c
B/C.
okay seriously…
b&d (teehee)
Shitfire! Suz is right again. B and C.
True or false: When Chelsea Clinton was 18, McCain told this joke: “Why is Chelsea so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father.”
True
I used to write political stories for them about central america – 75 cents a word(!) Then they said they paid the same for erotica so I did a little of that… far more amusing than arousing though. Now though my old guy’s a book editor – has been for awhile. I love the notion of not having to go through the final edit…
crap, changing my guess to a&b
True.
“old” salt or swabbie? Age-ism Age-ism…LOL! Yeah, an old salty swabbie… et tu, CT?
False… Chelsea was around 13 which makes the joke so much worse…..
B & C
Scarlet P, at least ya won’t have to lie like this…

Sounds like that shitheel Michael Reagan.
loohoo – is it you who talks about retiring down in central america on the beach? i have a girlfriend who is interested – can you email me with some links when you get a chance?
What was McCain referring to when he told reporters, “It’s up to you to find that out, kids”?
a) The extent of the Bush campaign’s involvement in rumors tha McCain had fathered a half-black child.
b) The financial connections between Cindy McCain and Charles Keating, the man behind the nation’s biggest saving-and-loan collapse.
c) Why he condemned the 2004 Swift Boat Veterans ad smearing John Kerry, then hired the agency behind them.
damn again, i wasn’t paying attention to the age loohoo put up. Guess i should put the sake cup down lol
((((((((((freewayblogger))))))))))

True, unless she wasnt 18.
c loohoo
One other mention, on the MC5’s song “Kick Out The Jams” from the live LP the announcer who states “You are either part of the problem or part of the solution” is John Sinclair. The MC5 were notorius for burning an american flag during their performances. They were constantly harrased by law enforcement everywhere they played. The revolution started years ago and the powers that be squashed it hard. But many of us are still around. I can’t be the oldest person on this site, good lord I am only 52. Whete are the old SDS’rs and the Yippies, come on MFR’S speak up.
Sure. And you missed one on purpose. McCain did make the Chelsea joke.
You and I both! I miss Lurch!
he did but i thought she was under 18 when he made it
Today’s post? I’ll have to go back and read that.
Oh ho!
Trick question!
I’ll guess A
hi NPB! made it almost all the way through “Deadlines, Doxies, and whatever the last thing was that began with D”… a bit before my time, but i found myself wishing the stories weren’t quite so quick… I think your dad sold himself a bit short in the talespinning dept. darn newspapermen…
Yes, yes, yes!! 1, newt-3, Suz, 1 LL.
Is it okay to play music amidst the quizzing?

That still doesn’t make me as cool as the scarecrow, but I’m gonna hold on to them shirt-tails!!!

jayt, good one — I love me some Hiatt :-)
I found this poll by Harris Interactive to be interesting and surprising in it’s findings:
“More Than Half Of Americans Never Read Political Blogs”
Of 2,302 adults surveyed, 56% said they never read political blogs, 23% read them several times a year, 22% several times a month.
Only 19% ages 18-31 read political blogs. 17% ages 32-43. 23% ages 44-62. The highest, 26% ages 62-older.
Republicans that regularly read political blogs was 22%, Democrats 20%, and independents 26%. Of these, 54% read one or two blogs a week and 22% read three or four a week. 69% said they do not leave comments. Republicans commented 34% of the time while democrats commented 28%.
Republicans rated the information found on political blogs to be 37% accurate and 41% valuable. Democrats 21% accuracy and 25% value.
This is the link for more statistics and tables:

CT, you and me both. I had the honor of having Lurch as one of the original commenters on my blog, lo those six years ago. How he found DemVet, I don’t know but he was a great friend. When he took over M&C and made it his own, I was thrilled and proud of the community he built, because I knew he’d be a great blogger.
Different subject, as long as we’ve got great videos tonight… here’s one that I’ve always liked. Gil Scot Heron. “…NBC will not predict the winner with 29% of the precincts reporting…” How prescient.
Thanks for the laugh, Suzanne!
(Has Dick Cheney ruined Elmer Fudd for anyone else?)

Geez, another big fire.

dayam, if i got 75 cents per word here in the comments…
Then I could make you a very rich woman – because I’m full of
itwords…I was trying to link to a youtube video of the MC5 but I am new to this computer crap. So use your youthful energy and look up the MC5 and John Sinclair. Speak up my ass. Youth is wasted on the young.

copy the url of the utube you wish to share
paste it in the submit comment box

jayt, are you taking your prenatal vitamins? ;-)
Who said, “I like McCain a lot, there’s something about matching the character with the script.”
a) Pat Buchanan
b) Sylvester Stalone
c) Senator Thad Cochran
Hey Suzanne, I just realized you’ve got a place down by the river… do you feed people tea and oranges that come all the way from China?
cause i left the @ in there to fork with the spammers
Hard refresh again. See if it sticks…
Who said McCain will make Cheney look like Ghandi?
a) Pat Buchanan
b) Sylvester Stalone
c) Senator Thad Cochran
That is what I thought I did but like I stated before Saturday night nis my Jack Daniels night and as the night progresses so does the buzz. The other 6 nights are dedicated to fighting the good fight. Power to the people.

Only one more question…
oops… that’s a “b” to #174…
nah, that fixed it. getting rid of the @ sign does it every time. ;)
thanks. next time I’ll spell it out. sticky fingers from typing all day on autopilot.
Yes! 3 for Suz, 2 for Newt, and 1 for LL.
how’s this
sweet dreams everyone – bedways is rightways…
c said it
jayt, are you taking your prenatal vitamins? ;-)
Yup – and I plan to be the first mother to ever show up with ripped abs… heh.
What I thought was weird is republicans comment more than democrats. I read both kinds of blogs and I notice far more comments left on democratic leaning blogs than the wingnut ones.
g’nite scarlet p
That’s a “c”
you think your abs are ripped now, just wait until the little blessing starts kicking
wait, stalone is making political commentary? more important, has chuck norris weighed in on this yet? steven segal?
A tiny bit of Ry Cooder:

Me too.
I’m going to check out Saturday Night Live and see what they do to Eliot Spitzer.
CTuttle, I didn’t realize what a spring chicken you are! You’re much more aware of the world than I was at your age. Good on you!
That was my answers… Buchanan & Cochran…. A & C…
Is what an old boss used to tell me.
Thanks, I think! LL made me think of this tune…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGVnH39UzI8
woke up and checked the obits and i wasn’t there so all is good… what my dad would say
A vet I used to know would say “Any day above ground is a good day.”
A friend of mine made a custom-order baritone guitar for Couter and personally delivered it to him. Ry immediately started to play it, and Fred listened for several hours. He said it was one of the most moving experiences of his life. He sort of got choked up as he was telling me about it.
Thank you too! I’ll get the hang of this soon. I’m not stupid just slow. Have you heard the story of the young bull and the old bull? The young bull upon seeing many young heifers at the bottom of the hill said “Let’s run down and “nail” one of those heifers”. And the old bull said “No, let’s walk down and “nail” them all.” (Censored because I try not to be a total jerk).
one of my favorite ry’s – put it up a couple weeks ago
You win – and do I look stupid standing up and dancing at 2:30 A.M.?
no more stupid than i do (laughing)
Last year, McCain said, “When I voted to support this war, I knew it was probably going to be long and hard and tough, and those that voted for it and thought that somehow it was going to be some kind of an eassy task, then I’m sorry they were mistaken.” What did McCain say before the war started?
a) He told Larry King that “success will be fairly easy.”
b) He told Blitzer, “I believe that we can win an overwhelming victory in a very short period of time.”
c) It’s a safe assumption that Iraqis will be grateful to whoever is responsible for securing their freedom.”
d) All of the above
I got no problem with that – good man.
d
(d) All of the above.
Because i’m feeling silly and right now Franz Ferdinand’s campy good fun hits the spot.
Do You Want To?
2005 single, lots of dancing vibes to it,and heh. Oh gods the lyrics would drive the wingnuts up the walls. *snickers* These guys hail from Scotland, hence the bad teeth and downright fun. XD
Ok way past my bedtime…. Nite all….

Three winners tonight. Quiz from the New Yorker. Be sure to check the like to see this week’s cover. It’s the only dead wood I read anymore. For places the tubes don’t cooperate.
Congratulations, you three all did better than me.
Yes, they started off the show with that. It was pretty funny.
So good to see ya Scarlet and looking forward to reading your book! You have an open invitation to be the Friends of the Stowitts Museum guest of honor at a Literary salon,reception/book signing & all that good stuff! Do you have a working title? Hugs!
Having traveled a lot in my youth and with Uncle Sam, I learned a lot from my experiences, I only regret that I hadn’t seen more of Europe while I was there… I saw Amsterdam, Paree, London, Benelux, Salzburg and Lucerne… I would’ve enjoyed the seeing the southern parts…
ummm, about the pregnancy thing – I guess I’m just a…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYdF1qjMNks
I think i’m the spring chicken here among you lot at 30. *grin* Either way, i have a lot of fun here with ya.
ya can get in trouble when ya leave your hat on
same age as my blushing bride to be oldest daughter – she turns 31 in june – after the wedding
I would’ve enjoyed the seeing the southern parts…
just a word… Italy is full of Italians – only place in Europe where the trains *don’t* run on time…
effing beautiful though – spent a whole bunch of time in Florence – didn’t care much for Rome – but Florence… *s*
Wow! Of those places I’ve only seen beautiful Paris. (Was at Heathrow (only, not London otherwise) on August 12th, 2006. Gatorade bomb threat day. Had to throw away my beautiful front pack that I’d used for travel for three years. My daughter had to throw away a brand new purse, a knockoff she bought in NYC. What a mess. I want to go back and see the other cities, as well as Moscow, Berlin, and Geneva. YOU MUST GET TO ITALY!! Rome, Florence, and Venice for sure. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to see Spain and Portugal, both lovely, but Italy kind of spoils one for the rest of southern Europe. (I want to get to Greece and Turkey for sure too.)
I am saddened by this story that is posted in the FDL news box. Chinese military forces are cracking down on civil dissent in Tibet.
i guess seeing tijuana when i was 8 does not count as world travel
Venice was the place I really tried to see but my leave was canceled because Reagan decided to bomb Libya, fricking b*stard…!
not good – not good at all
and if I can toss in some Italy tourism promos here, I was lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks on the northern end of Lake Garda and get into the Dolomites. Absolutely amazing! The Lake Garda Region is heavily populated by the Germans and Austrians, not too many Americans there… it was A pretty awesome experience and a short trip to Verona. No trains, you have to either get there on bus of some sort, or rent a car.
when I say “populated”, I mean by tourists not residents. LOL.
*sigh* i watch the pbs travel shows, rick steves, rudy maxa, burt wolf and know that i’ll probably never see any of the places i want to see other than on tv on online.
Heh, been there… BTW, isn’t it really southern Cali, anyways…? *g*
my dad was stationed coronado and my mom would go across the border to get her hair done. she took us kids once.
That may be the most spectacularly self-indulgent scene in the history of film…
And Alec Baldwin is a fool :-)
So you took the Med Sea Cruise, eh? Ever serve in PacCom?
You’re barely hatched!!
that scene is worth sitting through the rest of the movie.
and no shit.
Venice was the place I really tried to see…
you didn’t miss anything, imo. Unless you’re really, really fucking rich – I see no attraction to Venice…
Lurrves them cuffs…! *g*
Goodnight family dogs, thanks for putting up with me, I mean well. Here is my last feeble attempt at posting a music video.
No actually I went as a civilian. I was a WestPac sailor for all my years. Japan (3 years), The Philippines, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Kenya, Oman (eeeeew), Indonesia and many many days off Iran during the hostage crisis that St. Ronnie never solved by talking to terrorists. On leave I managed to get to the UK, France, Austria, Switzerland (the land of obsessive-compulsion), Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
So I guess I have traveled “a bit”. And I do have our uncle to thank for a lot of it.
You wouldn’t believe Tijuana now. I just went down for some dental work and walked across the border. It is so clean and nice. Beautiful street signs and lamps. Cops everywhere because of the gang violence. Everything within walking distance of the border is dentists, doctors, and pharmacies along with some touristy shopping and eating. I got the best dental care I’ve ever had there at 1/5th the price I was quoted here. I’ll take you down, Suz, whenever you’re ready.

Had a client once that I’d go see in jail, and he kept singing that damned song – plus I heard it live when he did it – Arrrghh…
Read these steps in the morning, PaytonsOpa, and try it on this thread (which will not be active.)
1. Find the YouTube
2. Highlight the URL (very top of your screen, http:..)
3. Edit to copy
4. Back to FDL, and type what you want to say, highlight the word you want to link to the YouTube.
5. Clink on the link symbol above the Submit Comment box that looks like a chain.
6. Delete the http that comes up, and edit to copy your YouTube link.
That’s it! Try it now if you’re still here.

Beautiful. You’re not forsaking the blond for this one, are you?
Glad you de-lurked & welcome to late late nite at da lake!
That reminds me I need another one…
I’m perusing the Pentagon study and I’m intrigued by this particular assertion…
-State sponsorship of terrorism became such a routine tool of state power that Iraq developed elaborate bureaucratic processes to monitor progress and accountability in the recruiting, training, and resourcing of terrorists. Examples include the regime’s developement, construction, certification, and training for car bombs and suicide vests in 1999 and 2000.
Okay then, why didn’t the regime utilize that expertise during the invasion in 2003, and, why did it take about another year(2004) to start seeing car bombs and suicide vests in Iraq…? Things that make ya go Hmmmm…….
and i forgot snark tag
I saw her on consecutive nights in the Bay Area in 2005 I think. Indoors is better.

nite jayt
Good night jayt and CTuttle!
Just you and me, newt?
Seems that way, Loo Hoo.
I was thinking about you SoCal types the other day when a friend of mine who lives in Azuza climbed up on his roof and found some interesting debris.
Your neighborhood recovered from the fires?
And this afternoon I saw a “Wahoo’s” bumper sticker in Palo Alto..
small world
Hey, what a coinkeydink. My neighborhood wasn’t damaged from the fire, just dirty. I had my gardener go up on the roof and hose everything down instead of doing his usual work that week. So I didn’t suffer. Plus I keep a healthy clearing away from the house. Usually I have it tractored down in June, but with all of the rain this season, it may be sooner. And I might even have to do it twice this year…
His Azuza place is a rental home he owns.
He just moved back into it.
Needless to say, he was surprised.
Obviously, unpleasantly surprised. I was just reading about the crane fiasco in Manhattan, so I guess some problems are much bigger than others, huh?
Indeed. and…
Grisly stuff they are still finding on the roofs in lower Manhattan.
Like what?
Bone fragments, clothing, documents, other remnants from September Eleventh.
Oh, how horrible. I thought you meant from today.
This is from March, ‘07, but it continues even now.
I thought the same thing Loo Hoo. Thanks for clarifying newton – its all horrifying much like the current administration.
Niters all you fine late late nite pups – always a pleasure to be in such fine company. zzzzzzzzzzzz ;~)
Hi NPB! Couldn’t sleep either? Here’s a great editorial at the NYT on Bush’s stupidity with regard to the economy.
Now to read newtonusr’s link.
nite npb!
I’m off to dreamland too, newt. Hold down the fort!
Damned Liberal NYTimes!
dropping off myself, leaving it to the very early morning pups
nite loo hoo
Thanks for the link – always a surprise & newsworthy when the Old Grey Lady conjures pissy truths of our deranged commander in chief. Gonna try sleeping & just noticed Larry King’s repeat of guest Eldon John’s appearance and with luck I’ll drift off to sleep if they repeat some of his music videos.
Sweet dreams Loo Hoo & all.
for Rachel Corrie
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo and Kristof in the NYT today, Frank Rich is off. MoDo, writing about a “Soft Shoe in Hard Times,” says George W. Bush crashed the family station wagon into the globe and now the global economy. Yet the more terrified Americans get, the more bizarrely carefree he seems. Mr. Kristof writes about “The Pimps’ Slaves,” and says that if the Spitzer affair causes us to lose sight of the broader reality of prostitution, then the biggest losers will be the girls for whom selling sex isn’t a choice but a nightmare.

Now that our power is back after 8 hours the coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. It feels too soon for it to be Palm Sunday, but it is. Have a great day.
Good Morning Marion and thanks for the goodies. Did the storms do damage in your area?
Nothing that I can see in my immediate neighborhood, but I think the worst of the winds were to the west of where I am. Our power was out for 8 hours, which is very unusual — usually it’s back in an hour or less. According to the Savannah Daily Disappointment’s web site the National Weather Service in Charleston got reports of tornadoes around 10:30 but they’re not confirmed that I know of.
Morning, all…
Marion, The Atlanta news just covered the Savannah area. They said that 150,000 are still without power.
Songs for this week..(and every week)

Ours came back at about 6 AM, but it may be harder getting the areas to the west back up if there are a lot of downed lines. It will be interesting to find out if the power is on downtown — Palm Sunday could be a bit of a challenge for us in the choir with no organ!
From BBC News:
I just woke up and I wanna play, anyone here?
Morning, Perris!
Good morning everyone.
morning nonplussed!
beer run
