Ito: Yes. In the early 1990s, when the low interest rate policy was introduced, I told several policy-makers at the Ministry of Finance that the policy might be wrong. They responded that it would increase the income of banks, and that the 1 percent increase in the difference between the loan interest rate and the savings rate would bring an extra 4 trillion yen to the banks. From the extra income, 2 trillion yen would be used to redeem bad loans, and the other 2 trillion would cover the loss of interest. This is an issue of income distribution.

Given that Helicopter Ben is trying and failing just means that he is not as good as the Japanese were at stalling the crisis but that does not mean he should get credit for stuff that happens despite his best efforts.
I think SS should be safe as long as we don’t privatize it and invest it in the market.

Some of Hillary’s top fundraisers want their money back from the DNC if FL doesn’t get to seat delegates. Fine, get the hell outta here. It’s about time we started purging the Party of the infiltrators.

Obama is dwarfing their numbers in terms of fundraising, and in addition to the 50 State Strategy, we have no need for their fake “support.” I’ve felt for years the DLC was developed to keep us Liberals from doing anything too radical. These actions of Clinton backers is just further proof.

Some of those failures have begun, haven’t they? Iirc, there was a recent article about a bank to which it had already happened, or shortly expected to. There’s definitely a county in which Birmington, AL (iirc) is located that’s about to go under due to risky investments (unfortunately, it’s apparently a dim who had a lot of control over that kind of decision). Thank Dog I decided to take early SS….a few months of it may be all I ever see.
