He’s made public statments lately that seem pretty firm against immunity and executive overreach. Appalling is the breadth of the illegal spying on Americans, as detailed in the recent Wall Street Journal article. Equally shocking is the FBI admission that they continue to misuse “blanket” national security letters under the Patriot Act.

The House bill on FISA looks promising and settles the issues claimed. Let Bush veto it and reveal (again) his real agenda (e.g. covering his ass in illegal deeds).

Overall, congress has been an extreme embarassment in not standing up to clear violations of law and utter contempt by the Administration. It is past time to turn that around.>
