Ooh - this is getting better - Cong. Carson making his maiden speech — mentions bringing home the troops as the best way to honor the dead and wounded. Next, middle class housing relief. Oh, and I think the first thing he mentioned was the loss of 63k jobs.
I LIKE this man!

That seems an odd response from John’s office. He’s made public statments lately that seem pretty firm against immunity and executive overreach. I’m not excited about Ken getting another crack at voting for immunity, he’s not someone i’m feeling very confident about on this issue. He’s stabbed us in the back a few times on PAA/FISA.

Just called my rep’s local office (Baird-WA). Nice woman, didn’t know how Baird would vote (argh) but said the office had received a number of calls this morning on FISA. Now I’m going to call the six Bush Dogs. That should be fun.

Thanks for all of your good work, Christy and Firepups!

Gas prices hitting new highs everyday? Not an effing word.

But “Terrists on the phone!”, almost every day.

Phone: Ring ring ring!

Bush: Hello. What? No, I haven’t seen bin Laden.
Bush: Hey, why are you laughing? Stop it.
Bush: That’s not nice. Osama, is that you?
Bush: Didn’t I tell you to stop calling me?

Called 2x (busy), emailed. For all the good, Rep. is Heather Wilson (R). Also sent note of encouragement to Tom Udall, not my district, but can’t hurt.

Text of emails (somewhat modified for Wilson)

Appalling is the breadth of the illegal spying on Americans, as detailed in the recent Wall Street Journal article. Equally shocking is the FBI admission that they continue to misuse “blanket” national security letters under the Patriot Act.

The House bill on FISA looks promising and settles the issues claimed. Let Bush veto it and reveal (again) his real agenda (e.g. covering his ass in illegal deeds).

Overall, congress has been an extreme embarassment in not standing up to clear violations of law and utter contempt by the Administration. It is past time to turn that around.>

I also called all six of the Blue Dogs in our poll and told them we have raised quite a bit of money on this issue and that their vote today will have a big say in how we spend it.

Wonderful!
