wigwam at 24:
This is a guy who is famous for prosecuting financial crimes. He knows all there is to know about how money leaves trails. What was this man thinking?

You answered your own question. Elliot Spitzer doesn’t take a shit without a back-up plan. Think maybe there is something more to this than poking prostitutes and sniffing Elliot’s BVDs??

eCAHNomics at 6:

BTW, I got an email yesterday from some D NYS list I’m on, to sign a petition to “save Eliot Spitzer.” I did not sign it. The sooner he’s gone the better.

The better for whom, eCAHNomics??? The better for NeoCon Repuke Bruno squatting in the NY State Senate? The better for all those out-of-work prosecutors fired by the rabidly politicized (under Chimpie) Department of Injustice?? The better for whom? Little Old Ladies of the No Sex Decency League??

Quite a back’nforth w/Biodun et al. 2 threads up on the correct spelling. The NY gov.’s website certainly agrees w/you. But regardless if it’s tomato or tomahto, I wish she hadn’t felt she had to be standing next to Spitzer during the announcement. JMO.

The state of New York will be in very capable, politcally astute hands with Dave Paterson at the helm (IMHO). His record in the State Senate as Minority Leader during the heady Republican 90’s gives some idea. He has gained the respect of many legislators downstate and upstate, Dem and Repub. If there are allies to be found for intiatives or problems, Dave can find them. He has an organization that is strong enough to do the things politically that must be done. He is well served by his team. He will serve the people of New York well.

Biodun’s correction two threads up, it’s Slida not Silda Wall. Apologies to the lady.

And she’ll apparently be next to Spitzer @ the podium in a few.

Off to work. Read you all this evening.

Which is why it’s strange for a bank to monitoring his withdrawals so closely. For someone that rich, withdrawing a few grand isn’t unusual at all.

They had a target before they had a crime. In fact, they may not even have much of a real crime — just a way to embarrass him out of office so Wall Street scofflaws get off scot-free. Even Dershowitz thinks this is stinky.

TDS had a great bit last night about the suffering spouse. Right on. Why do these creeps make it worse by making their spouse stand by them? I know. The question answers itself.

Been reading up on David Paterson- he looks to be the kind of man who should have been elected NY gov. in the 1st place.

Thanks for this link. I’ve been waiting for some kind of interpretation of the resignation, and an interpretation of why the Esquire article appeared — at Fallon’s behest or against his wishes. What Fallon says is no more provocative than what he’s quoted is saying (he and “several others” were trying to “keep the crazies in the their box”, and that he would resign rather than command an attack on Iran) in March 2007, when the political situation seemed more propitious for an attack on Iran.
