Woof.
So the question is still -- who do we go after? You can still vote. Will it be:
Leonard Boswell, facing a primary against progressive Democrat Ed Fallon
Chris Carney, who has a bit of a history at the Lake
John Barrow, who says we can't "cut and run" on Iraq
Zach Space, one of "Rahm Emanuel's little kennel of Bush Dogs"
Brad Ellsworth, who recently voted to sabotage the Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act,
Heath Shuler, well...what can you say.
As Glenzilla says, "The goal is to raise as much money as possible to run local ads against one or two of them, alerting as many possible voters in their districts of their endless complicity with the most radical, corrupt aspects of the Bush administration's chronic lawbreaking and illegal domestic spying."
Thanks to you, we have a lot of options. Let us know who you think deserves to be the target of our efforts for joining with the Republicans to try and pass retroactive immunity for Dick Cheney and the telecom criminals.

Barrow Barrow and Barrow
go Christy! “They can’t hear me now!”
Can we vote again? I already voted yesterday!
I voted for Carney, considering his history as a BlueAmerica renegade, but I would change my vote to Boswell if I could - to help the progressive Fallon primary his ass.
Carney took our money and support, and he said he’d vote for the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Bill when asked. Then, after being elected to Congress, he voted against the bill and made noises about “creating special classes” of Americans.
Hands down, Chris Carney!
(but I only voted once, I promise!)
Heath must go.
Rahm Emanuel? God. Do I really want to deal with this subject? Maybe. ;0)
Speaking of the FISA bill, here’s an awesome article on why we need to act…
http://www.juliansanchez.com/2.....bstandard/
A little bird told me that Chris Carney has an edge in this race? After his lying and fraudulently taking money from blog participants, I certainly hope so!
No question..Chris Carney is the worst..He needs to be the poster child for what happens when you fool Howie Klein.
I dunno, read the Barrow link. This fucking skunk really needs to go and Howie’s friend still isn’t running.
Carney chumped a lot of people, he said ruefully. Rootstrapper…
I wonder how many Blue Dogs look at Bill Foster’s victory in the Planet Denny congressional district and wonder if they need to vote to a) continue this occupation and b) amnestithize the telecoms. Foster ran hard against both in a blood-red Bush-supporting district — and won overwhelmingly.
I hope Foster gets sworn in soon so he can tell his story firsthand on the House floor to these bozos who simply do not get it. There is NO constituency for telecom immunity.
I think the possible next Democratic president (he or she) needs to understand that we need to precipitate a thorough in-house, house cleaning. Starting with Mr. Emanuel. But not ending there.
Gonna swim against the tide here: Ellsworth. That mental health legislation was important.
He was going to be my second choice (if I had a second choice, which I don’t.)
For us, less than two hours to Olbermann.
They swore Foster in yesterday!
Point taken, speaking as the spouse of a mentally ill person. The trouble is, when all is said and done, ALL of them deserve to be targeted.
Teddy, Foster was sworn in yesterday… Carson could be sworn in today, and, Andre is another powerful message, too! ;-)
…and he’s already making an impact!
True enough. So many bastards, so little time.
OT for a second….
Scott Ritter will be interviewed at the top of the hour in one hour on 1480 KPHX about the resignation of Adm. Fallon and war with Iran. [click listen live]
They’re all pretty slimy, how do I choose?
I’d like to let go of, and replace, a few Democrats, with better Dems if Obama or Hillary gets in. And above all, and I mean above all, I want to deal with Mr. Lieberman. I am focused on Joe.
My Blue Dogs are running unopposed in ‘08 and they still vote for this shit.
I’m with TeddySF - every word he wrote - Chris Carney has clearly demonstrated his opportunistic character (and that is putting it mildly) and richly deserves an unceremonious defeat.
Heath won my vote yesterday, however, I like your vote for Carney, he truly needs to be targeted for screwing the netroots over…!
Breaking News:
Eliot Spitzer’s wife has announced she’ll stay on to become the first lady to incoming Governor David Paterson.
-G
Okay, I conceed that Carney is the most deserving. I voted for Space in part because he’s from Ohio and I feel a certain duty to help clean up our mess.
So I’m going to start a Vote Space for #2 campaign. It’ll be full of mindless slogans, in-jokes and BAD puns. And I’m willing to destroy ALL the others running by highlighting all the GOOD things they’ve done…even if by accident. If I can find some.
Boxturtle (Space for #2…because nature abhors a vaccuum!)
I’ll go with that.
GSD, you’re evil…! 8-P
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just depose all five of the basty nastards?
707, Boxturtle - love it.
Exactly! How much do we need to make a difference in EACH race? I’ve no real feel for, but if we raise $60K is it worth giving $10K to each? Or is there a logical minimum to make a real difference?
Boxturtle (Since all of them deserve it, you should pick Space as #2.)
Russia lashes out after the US criticizes their human rights record:
“How else can one explain that the United States — which has essentially legalized torture, applies capital punishment to minors, denies responsibility for war crimes and massive human rights violations in Iraq and Afghanistan, refuses to join a series of treaties in the sphere of human rights — distortedly comments on the situation in other countries?” it said.

Lahoma is advising me to be “steady on the rudder”. She understands my anticipation of Olbermann’s special comment tonight.
Six! Not five, but actually, there’s a lot more of ‘em…! ;-)
Dang, $42 grand. Awesome. Absent the fact that I’ve been out of a job for a year and 11 days thus far, I’d surely be in for some $$$. I’m soon gonna be so broke I’ll need 3 co-signers just to pay cash.
I wish you are right, Teddy, but I can’t tell you how many people I’ve personally heard say that they don’t care if the government eavesdrops on their conversations or whatever. (You’d think that the schools never taught civics courses!) I tell them that I don’t care either, as long as they do it legally, with warrants as the Constitution says. Then they look at you with a blank stare that says, “But they’re only trying to protect me! What harm could it do!” It’s unbelievable that, with movies like “The Matrix” and its type out there, American’s are this naive.
Yes. The U.S. under George W. Bush, with some help from his Democratic friends (Nancy ‘no impeachment’ Pelosi, etc.) has set an example on liberty and human rights (FISA, Iraq and some other things).
((((((((((Lahoma)))))))))) :~)
I never EVER thought I would agree with Russia against my government on anything, much less human rights. Yet here I am….
Boxturtle (Space for #2…because he really IS #2!)
I’ve had that argument with a co-worker. My response was that she thought wiretaps were okay because she’s unknown to anyone listening. I asked her if it would be okay for the local chief of police to listen in on whatever phone calls he wanted.
FWIW, Leonard Boswell voted:
o For the Military Commissions Act
o For the Bankruptcy bill (technically known as “Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act”)
o Against Net Neutrality (technically the “Markey of Massachusetts Amendment” to the “Communications, Opportunity, Promotion, and Enhancement Act of 2006″),
I say spend the money on the candidate that has the closest election
get him out of office and let the others know there is plenty of that where this came from
if we can get the first cog removed, the other cogs will see they better not vote with the fascists if they expect to keep their seat in power
whichever candidate is closest to election gets my vote
How about the one with a primary opponent - Boswell?
My lady is taking a bubble bath. She loves those things. It’s a rather large square sunken tub with water jets and a little fountain. I can’t figure it out. I mean, what’s so great about about being in a tub of hot water surrounded by a bunch of bubbles? I take showers. In and out in five.
“But they’re only trying to protect me! What harm could it do!”
_______
One retort, just one.
If you are innocent, the probability of there being any true incriminating dirt in your data is EXACTLY zero. The relative probability of error — one that might cost you dearly — is INFINITE by comparison.
peris, that makes sense to me
(but my inner Celt wants to hurt Carney something fierce. IN the nicest non-violent electoral fashion, of course)
Ferraro is out of her fucking mind.
I tell them that if government at any level listens in to your conversations or your e-mails, etc. without probable cause and a warrant, they are treating you as if you are guilty until proven innocent, and that’s UnAmerican! I keep hoping I’ll hit on something that will make them think in a different way than they’ve thought about things before.
Just kicked in $48 to bring it up to $42,100. But I need to go read the links as to who to dump this on.
I yelled loud and long yesterday against Carney for all the reasons above and more. But if Boswell has a progressive primary challenge then our $$ can make a difference. I still remember how it seemed to have affected Jane Harmon’s behavior for the better.
We’ll need to find a primary challenger for Carney next round and work like hell to get rid of him then.
lol kiddo, my hubby asks me what the big deal is about sitting in dirty water with bubbles. maybe it’s a girl thing?
I stand alone not looking forward to Olberman’s comment tonight. Hillary (for all her faults and missteps) is still an ally and may very well be the nominee. Not only that, she truly has done a lot of good and I regret that she will be villified tonight. If KO balanced his condemnation by acknowledging all she has done for progressive causes, I would feel better. But, I doubt that will happen.
I understand everyone’s anger at some of her tactics. I even agree with that anger. I’m just sorry it has come to this and I will feel no joy hearing tonight’s S.C.
I voted in the wee hours last night, and contributed. However, I’ve since rethought my vote. Perhaps you should target the two Blue Dogs in the least expensive media markets. That way, you get more bang for the buck. Just a thought.
I’ll agree with that!
well she has resigned from a campaign that she was never a part of, at least that is what both parties were claiming yesterday.
hate to drive by, but back to work . . . . see ya’ll later.
ya, let’s go after him and let the others know who is next and we are watching their vote
if we can flip a candidate with our effort it becomes a lock;
bing, a bush dog converts to a progressive democrat
That’s the problem. They all seem to think that if you’re innocent, you should not be concerned that the government goes through your things. (Wonder how they’d feel if the government reserved the right to come into your home and go through your drawers.) But they completely discount the damages done and the actual deaths from mistakes made when warrants are issued. Mistakes, the government, how can that be?!!
Exactly!
Is she still going to raise money behind the scenes? Rhetorically speaking of course.
i understand what your saying but she has brought this on herself and speaking as a women of color, i’m totally pissed off that there has been a double standard when it comes to her or her campaigns actions (IOIYH) and it’s about time she was called on it. You can’t alienate groups of people and then expact them to kiss your ass come the GE and I have no intentions on rewarding her dixiecrat behavior if she wins the primary
I agree, but I fear the Clinton camp is waging a scorched earth campaign. If she can”t have the nomination, the BHC will not get the presidency.
We are going to have to fight back against this move by HRC.
of course. her resigning means that she can still flap off at the jaw but it won’t be tied to the campaign (she is wrong, it will still be tied to the campaign, but whatever)
…But, but, since this is the House, aren’t they all up for re-election (every 2 years) in November?
Totally fucking agreed. Racist out of the starting gate and racist coming in last in the pack.
Lawd have mercy, mittens says he would ‘be honored’ to serve as veepee
By aiding his opponent, your Inner Celt is hitting Carney where it hurts the most. People like him use power to get money. Take away the power, and he’s back to selling shoes.
He’d rather take a punch in the face than face $42K being used against him. Effectively.
Boxturtle (Space for #2…Boswell was named one of best Representatives for Children 3/6/2008)
I agree that the cost of media markets should play a role. Hi, ydD.
I also voted yesterday for Carney, but considering it, I’d like to know which ones have the best chance of losing their elections.
Can we get info on these two points?
You can’t imagine how hard I’m laughing at you right now, Kiddo. Geez, haven’t you ever tried taking one with her. Rather large square sunken tub, water jets, a little fountain, WHERE IS YOUR IMAGINATION, MAN! *G*
what’s for dinner, kiddo?
How I think the money should be spent: we want to inflict fear, and we want to either get them to change or be replaced.
If the person with the most points gets the ads in his/her district, then:
Points for anyone who has a viable primary challenger. Points for anyone who’s clearly to the right of his/her district. Negative points for someone in such a secure position that he/she’ll laugh it off.
I don’t really know these guys, but since you say Boswell’s got a primary challenger, I picked him. That way the money goes double: it makes the point that he’s kowtowing to the telecoms, and it helps his opponent.
Anti Italian bigot.
-G
*Snark
Hopefully he could last longer than 5 minutes…! *g*
Not a good day for me and my party politically. But a good day for my party in terms of ethics. Ferraro and Spitzer are gone. But Republicans, Larry Craig and David Vitter are still there.
then we should spend the money on the candidate that is facing a real progressive in his primary
is there only one?
if so, that’s the one we need to target
I like this way of looking at it.
I am with kiddo..I have never understood the attraction of soaking in one’s own dirt.
Ball-and-chain those two are for the Rethugicans. Leave them there I say.
I said something like this yesterday, but I think the money should be invested in the race(s) where a good progressive candidate(s) stands a good chance of winning.
I’d hate to see the money go to negative ads against someone unless they have an opponent who can win.
What does that mean?
mr wobbs just corrected me, he doesn’t call it dirty water, rather stagnant water (which could be dirty)
Way OT..
link
She’s hot but $3,500/hour? The money would be better spent defeating Blue Dogs.
McCain, like Bush only more belligerent.

Pizza. From the local pizzeria. Lahoma’s choice. My lady is like me. We are both on the thin side and buffed; she’s short (5′2″) and I’m 5′11 and we eat what we want.
I second your vote, twice and thrice.
Oh I’ve been in lots of imaginative baths with Lahoma. Minus the bubbles. ;0)
Did you ever go to the beach and take a dip in the ocean? Did you have fun? If you did, then why would you not think it might be relaxing to bathe in some nice water with soap and bubbles?
My husband used to come home really grubby, and I wouldn’t want to be in the same tub with him, but he was clean when he went into our pool, and that is the same relaxing nature of water that we’re talking about here.

Barack’s campaign: Yes We Can.
Hillary’s has been reduced to: No She Did’ent!
Enjoy it while it lasts…I could never gain weight…unti I hit 50 after that it’s been a struggle.
The woman behind Eliot…from the NYTimes:
At least she’s older than any of his daughters…
Apparently Kiddo wants to ignore this part of the conversation!
it’s not so much how she looks it’s really what she does
spitzer obviously has some kink…me too…hmmm…gonna give this girl a call, see if she wants to pay me to teach her some more of teh kinkeh
What topic, do you know?
Scott Ritter on now.
Mr wobbs gets leftover beef stew; i haven’t decided what I’ll have. He and I are also on the thin side (he 6′3 me 5′9)
Yep, and he cast the deciding vote to get the new ethics panel created!
First day, swing vote for new Rep. Bill Foster

I understand that she is a gifted conversationalist…
topic: hillary’s campaign, i believe
And has been for years…
I hear tiny foot steps coming from upstairs. I think someone has inhaled the waft of pizza. And we both like and insist on fresh tomatoes, garlic and anchovies on our pizza pie. Sooo. It’s pizza, Mexican beer and soon, Olbermann.
Oh, my. Ought to be juicy!
Me likey this women that is putting Pat Buchanan in his place. What a whiney wiener
