I have a story to tell in Indiana’s 7th district. It may take a bit of mulling over to understand.

Andre Carson won election to his late grandmother’s seat in Congress over a Republican, John Elrod, who was not supported by them at all. Carson was a Christian, as was his grandmother, but after his marriage converted to Islam, of the Farrakhan variety.

The Republican-controlled media here never reported this fact. Carson and his opponent never mentioned it as far as I noticed. An undeniable fact is that the electorate here had no clue either. But, given the national headlines that will now report this fact, including the Indianapolis media, and it will become known, for the first time for a vast majority of the district. Indianapolis will wake up tomorrow and 80% of the voters will become aware of it for the first time.

I know that this may be difficult to fathom, but it is an accurate representation.

There will be a primary fight in our May 6 primary with 8 candidates for the Demo nomination, although only 4 of the candidates are to be taken seriously.

My question is this: What do you guys think of such a tale? Such as possible Repug tactics and motivations?

Honking on. Literally. The UAA Trombone Trio gives our annual concert the first week of April. I’m using spring break to get into a mode where I practice trombone, trumpet and bugle two hours a day or more, so that I’ll sound nice and sweet in April. And spending extra time getting Diane Benson elected to replace Don Young. And bringing car keys to my son when he locks himself out of his car – sheesh!!!

My wife thought accupressure might help. I know nothing about it. So far I haven’t found anything on the toobz except books and other stuff for sale. I’m looking for help right now!

From what I’ve read here tonight, it was a special election to fill a seat that was vacant due to the death of incumbent Julia Carson. The winner tonight is her grandson. He defeated a Republican tonight so he is now elected.

I think you’re wrong. The May 6 primary shouldn’t include Andre Carson at all. It was a special election to determine who fulfills the the remainder of Julia’s term. Andre won.

And as the winner, he’ll stand for re-election in November – May 6 has nothing to do with Andre Carson at this point.

And as to the his being a Muslim portion of your statement – I honestly don’t know – but having lived in blood-red Indiana for the better part of my life, I find it hard to believe that such a thing would go un-noticed.

I’ll certainly be checking into these things – and it occurs to me that I’ve never seen you here before – still, I’ll be checking into it.

Yeah, the primary’s gonna be a brawl. I’d advise the presidential campaigns to keep their distance from this race, but they probably already no that. I seriously hope that Hillary isn’t planning to demand that Obama renounce and disavow his new Farrakhan Muslim superdelegate. Which he will be whether he loses the primary or not.

it occurs to me that you might very well be right – at least as to the part having to do with Andre’s having to be on the ballot on May 6. The party must choose its candidate for the November election.

As to his being a Muslim – hard to believe that the Indy press (i.e. the Republican Party) actually missed that one – ’round here, “Muslim” is pretty much the same as “ni***r”, but as far as being a secret weapon to use against him later – I don’t see it working – the Carson brand is strong, ni***r is no insult, and while this is no longer a guaranteed seat, hurling a supposed invective at Andre will more likely generate a higher, more determined and motivated turnout at the polls come May or November.

Indiana may be overwhelmingly red, but that by no means equates to being a ’smart’ red. Carson supporters might well be the most passionate supporters in the entire country – if challenged, they’ll come out of the woodwork to cast their votes – you did add an interesting angle though – thanks.

Hey Suz is your wall allright? You must pack a pretty good wallop. Have to change your handle to Busted Knuckles #2 Doin a Nick Nolte/Eddie Murphy 48 hours shot. Try leading with your left that sets up the wall for the second shot (that will teach it for being there). I can picture it now…OK buddy spread um…oh god my knee you SOB you got brass ball.
If you have to patch the hole in the wall before the next open house..a little container of spackle will patch it then hang a picture over after you cover that with duct tape, spray with WD-40 (so it looks slick) and you should be all set.
The pain Busted described will keep you from thinking about your bionic knee which will feel better as soon as the weather warms up. In the meantime while your blogging use a heating pad for the knee, keep a bottle of aspirin on the computer so you don’t have a heart attack, keep Bugs Bunny tapes in the tube so you don’t get mad enough to hit the wall again with the other hand.

The Clinton-McCain folks have decided that they can’t win unless they play the race card and comin’ as it does in front of the Pennsylvania primary…well there’s no question that Clinton-McCain is willin’ ta try and take the Democratic Party down in November rather than suffer a black man in the White House.

I don’t think it’s gunna work though…but it’s lookin’ more and more likely that we’ll get a McCain-Clinton ticket on the fascist ticket.

Funny thing is I’m out there with BJ and my scoccer ball a very nice european model which I duct taped to protect the leather and we just chase the ball which the sand dunes make roll back to the water or mud when the tide is out for a little daily aerobics. But here is some interesting stuff that appears to have happened in the Mississippi Primary vs. other Southern Primaries.

First some of the early reports suggested that the Democratic Primary was only going to have about 150,000 votes total. The current count shows Obama winning by a 22-point margin (60% to 38%) with more than 401,000 votes cast.

Obama’s 26% of the white vote was roughly comparable to what he received from white voters in Alabama, Louisiana, and South Carolina. Interestingly, among the Southern states, only Georgia gave Obama more than 30% of the white vote. This is true despite John Edwards no longer being in the race.

In addition, the open Mississippi Democratic primary included 2-3 times as many Republicans (12%) as the other Southern states. This is clearly because the Republican nomination was wrapped up by McCain. Previously the crossover voters (about 4-6% of the Democratic total) had to “sacrifice” participation in the Republican Primary to vote in the Democratic Primary.

And those Republicans in Mississippi supported Clinton by a 3-to-1 margin, far more than any of the other Southern states. Now assuming that most of those Republican cross-overs were white, the voting trend is precisely what we would expect from White Democrats in Mississippi. There seemed to be no particular difference between these two demographics, either pro or against Clinton or Obama. If there was a desire to influence the Democratic Primary process it doesn’t appear to be organized. However it did have an effect.

Since they brought more Clinton votes into the pool than they did Obama votes, these Republican crossovers would have increased the Clinton vote by a net of about 6% (Obama +3% vs. Clinton +9%). It means that Obama may have lost a few delegates as a result (66% vs. 32% as opposed to 60% vs. 38%).

Another interesting effect was that before this Republican voters, although they only made up a much smaller proportion of the total Democratic vote, these voters did tend to support Obama at much higher proportions than in Mississippi. In these groups they tended to vote for Obama above the trend for other Whites and sometimes above 50% of the Republican crossover. But because their numbers were so much smaller, and because they were closer to parity, they had almost no actual impact on the election results.

Anyway, for anyone who was reading my posts on the Carson race, I still find it eerie that the Repug smear machine never went into motion on him. It seems to coincidental. Their oppo research had to know about all this.

Maybe they are saving it for the General Election? Or maybe their opposition research suggested that if they went negative it would backfire. Another possibility is that they are somehow going to use this stuff for the bigger prize in Indiana…by making Obama-Carson links appear to suggest that Obama is a “secret Muslim”.
