What if some one in the Obama campaign said something as inflammatory? they would be out by now.

One of the key things I’d like to know is if these ‘inflammatory’ statements are pre-cleared by the candidates.

Did Obama know his supporters (after Iowa) were going to call any Obama opponents racists? I never heard of him standing up and telling them to shut up (or firing them if they were on staff).

I want to hear what she has to say. If she hangs herself, then that’s that. But, if she has a serious point to make, then I don’t want to miss out on that!

Question is, if that House version goes to a conference committee what will happen.

(egregious — I try to read as much as possible, but time constraints make it usually impossible to post. In addition to my job, and trying to do simple house chores, we started a vegetable garden for the first time in prep for Great Depression Part Deux — the square foot intensive gardening method in large wooden frames up on legs with handles in the back, wheels in the front to make them mobile and high enough for me to work with without bending over — made for me by Mr. K8. I wish there were many more hours in the day, don’t we all?)

I got out of academe, it was making me ill — at the same time that loved ones (my parents) were succumbing to terminal physical illnesses.

I worked odd jobs, freelanced a bit, never making a lot of money, and never going for the super-achievement track again. But my soul was healthier.

Then I married a great guy who, like me, had no materialism-based philosophy (which, to me, is the great American psychological illness — YMMV).

We live modestly. I have a part-time job at the same company where he has a good, more or less recession-proof job, and where his talents are put to use doing intellectually challenging stuff — even though he’s not paid commensurate with that, IMHO. His boss (from Europe) is committed to giving employees the very best health insurance possible for the company. We have lots to be grateful for.

And my job is great for me — I’m partially disabled, each leg having been shattered in two prior accidents, with leg and torso lymphedema — I can do much of the work from home.

Your “hope you land on your feet” thus makes me smile, warmly. I’m headed out to the backyard pool in my wetsuit right NOW, to do more physical therapy in the hopes of just that.
