I cannot believe I have to do this today, because the trial is about – NOTHING. Driving While Suspended – yep, another dangerous criminal who must be taken off the streets. Suspended not as a result of a DUI or anything – just too many points. In Indianapolis, that’s one where you walk up to a judge, plead guilty, take a fine and go home – no sentence, no probation.

But in Hamilton County, where I gotta go – they put people in jail for this – for a year!! No way I’m letting this go without at least a fight. Don’t know that I’ve ever done a jury for a misdemeanor case, but fuck ‘em, they’re gonna have to earn it.

My strategy? Don’t have one really, other than maybe trying to suppress the traffic stop. Other than that, it’s gonna be just me being an asshole about every tiny little point that I can. I think that on a misdemeanor, I only get a 6 person jury, so that cuts in half my opportunity to try the thing on voir dire.

So in a few hours, I’m walking into a court angry – and loud. I wonder if I can possibly drag this piece of shit out for a full day or two. Ta hell with ‘em – I’ll shut their court down trying this case while all of their other cases get backed up, continued, maybe even have to drop a few, even though I would obviously feel just awful about that.

All right then, I’m getting into the right mood – more coffee….
