Our military used torture widely in the Viet Nam war. I had seen videos of it but asked a Nam vet just today who’d spent a lot of time “in country” within enemy dominated areas in small teams. I said, “did you do a lot of waterboarding?”…his answer was vague but defensive:”They (the enemy) would just simply shoot us in the head if we were captured….” (thus justifying torture of captured enemy). Then “We had an ‘interrogator’ come in once a week (to deal with the captures).” No mention whether the captures were simply shot after they were interrogated. Thus he validated the video of captured VietCong being slowly drowned under water filled clothes over their faces. I suspect we just gave the interrogated over to the SouthVietnamese army to finish ‘em off. (
don’t remember hearing of a POW camp on our side for viet cong captured, do you? except for the infamous ‘tiger cages’.

We are. Going through looking at some beautiful native plant gardens (online), beef stew is a cooking for him (cornbread is already finished) and some fresh grren juice for me. Your grandmother was right, green is God;s favorite color and oh so good for us, the animals and the planet. We hope to create a little wildlife sanctuary for the birds, butterflies and bees.

This might be a little O/T, but we have got to get a handle on the news that the public is seeing or hearing. Ignorance of the populous, is the repubs best friend and our worst enemy.
And this could prove very troublesome as the election heats up, and the lies, etc., start in earnest (pun intended).

Maybe focusing on some of the most destructive of the current lies for starters and then formulating a rebuttal that is short, has authoritative anger/indignation (the public seems to need that, justified or not), and is easy to understand.

Then take the rebuttal, purchase a highly visible (size?) ad in the regional papers of the country (or more focused areas if effectiveness is improved), and start letting the public know the truth.

Money for the ads could come from $5 donations, and when the ads start showing results, then we would know it is worth continuing financially and otherwise.

Anyway, food for thought.

didn’t mean to imply otherwise. Certainly no offense meant.

Here, in Indianapolis, it’s incredible to read the comment section of the IndyStar.com, and note how many morons consider The Star, a Gannet-owned rag, to be an evil, “liberal” paper. More than once, I’ve seen it called “The Red Star” - I’m not too proud to admit that there are things beyond my understanding, and in this instance all I can do is shake my head and wonder who these people are (and why there are so damn many of them).

Not small print for me. I use control+ to increase my text size. Wonder if that affects a link in the opposite way?

True, Waccamaw. Not just those of us on the left who don’t trust the press.
