Meet Rod Parsley, the minister who supports St John McCain (who isn’t John Hagee).
McCain appeared with Parsley at a campaign event last week in Cincinnati and called him a "spiritual guide."
Parsley called McCain a "strong true consistent conservative." There is, however, one point of agreement I have with Rod Parsley:
"Yet at the same time, when you put John McCain up against Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, the ideological and philosophical differences are overwhelming," Parsley said.
Got it, Reverend.
Please share the video with any tolerant friends who think McCain will go easy on the homosexuals. Looks to me like the "army of Patriot Pastors" is rolling out their McCain love one week at a time.

((( TSF )))

Hey Marion in Savannah, just sent you a reply to your e-mail on Black Mesa.
More about Rod Parsley here.
Help the Poor and Sick is what JC was about where does JC preach against gays? Heck the guy hung out with fallen ladies like Mary Magdelene who by Jewish law should have been stoned on sight.
“Yet at the same time, when you put John McCain up against Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, the ideological and philosophical differences are overwhelming,” Parsley said.”
Yeah *sshole…in their favor, you are another batshit crazy nutcase blasphemer.
A**hole. Get back in yer box.
No spoilers, Dood…! ;-)
Hello all. Does anybody’s else gaydar go off when Preacher Rod does his “air quotes?”
Patriot Pastors, ya right, much of haters if you ask me or not. Just like Pat Robertson or Jerry “Right Hand of the Devil” Falwell.
Rich fallen ladies who funded his work.
Now, now. No premature eja…..er…posting.

OT..I am behind today..but today is the aniversary of “Bloody Sunday” March 7, 1965. I drove across the Edmund Pettus bridge a few years ago and it still looked like the news pictures. John Lewis led the march..God bless him.
The man’s name is a garnish.
What else do you want to know?
In all seriousness, the self-loathing fairly screams.
The man is in a lot of pain, and desperate to unload.
Young boys beware of this spirit guide.
I assume septegenarians are safe.
Those darn tortured and angry homosexuals…
Suz, and RBG… trained me well…! 8-P
Hello, newton.
*
I really hope McStain will get some questions about the preachers in his life from Steve Croft on 60 Minutes next Sunday.
Please ask Steve to ask St John your favorite question here (scroll down).
Mr. LS just woke up and said, “I hate him”, then he fell asleep again…I wonder who he was talking about…D’Oh……
Is it off-topic yet?
Any of you NoCals get up to Tony’s Seafood in Marshall?
The Macks are descending on SF for a few days and wondering if it’s still there.
Dang, Et Tu, Brutus…? ;-)
unrealized masochism will do that to you.
*ratchet ratchet ratchet*
yanno, it just don’t sound as menacing when typed as when one is hearing that handcuff sound :)
I’m off the BO bandwagon.
Ok the Gay Marriage wedge issue did win Bush one election but after the Lefties in Hollywood put out “BrokeBack Mountain ” the public support for Gay Marriage increased.
So unless there has been another event to move the polls back then McCain is trying to win his small base with an issue that pisses off the majority of people that he needs to win the election.
Given McCain’s stand on the war, healthcare etc just how does he expect to change all our minds about so many issues?
You can’t win by rallying the GOP base with hate and then hope that the independent voters don’t find out what you say to rally the base in the age of internet.
Also there are no independent voters anymore everyone is paying attention to the issues and we are all motivated to vote. We are polarized 70, 30 and given the numbers we could shift much higher if we have a “event”
Heh, but, I’m a willing participant…! 8-P
Because what?
Teddy, Gawd doesn’t want you perverting his/her intention. So stop it now, no more of that. Praise Gawd!
What, are we waterboarding them now?
We will have a ruling from the California Supremes within 90 days on marriage equality, however. That should stir things up in scaryville, whichever way it goes. And it’ll probably be close.
OT..For Petrocelli..I switched to Opera this afternoon and so far so good..Thanks..The FF problem was becomoing intolerable.
And who did not judge him for hanging out with 12 unmarried men.
Senator Daschle — recipient of Anthrax attack– on Stewart now.
Please no TDS spoilers for the Westies. Thanks.
no TDS spoilers for those in other time zones please
Sarah Posner has done a fair amount on good ol’ Pastor Rod — you can check out her Book Salon chat and follow the links there to her book.
Really? What’s the split?
McBush plans to pay his respects to right wing issues early- so he won’t have to later when it counts. He hopes no one is payin attention now.
What is a TDS spoiler?
McBush is an honorable conservative american who only puts his dick where it’s allowed.
He reminds me of that other one – Ted
HaggardMaggot.TDS – the daily show – airing now on the east coast but not in the other time zones…
You’ll love it! Best browser ever. There is this fine tutorial too…
McCan’t has to tack to the center… If he stands any chance…!
in his mistress de jour.
McCan’t can’t.
All I said is that Dashle is a guest.
Newtonusr is a Mac Whiz … seek his wisdom … *g*
IOKIYARWAD
That’s an understatement.
If they rule in favor of same-sex marriage, the TheoCons will go over-the-top bat-sh*t crazy: “look at those liberal secularists and what they’ve done now!”
If they rule against it, the TheoCons will *still* go over-the-top bat-sh*t crazy: “look at those liberal secularists and what they almost got through!”
This is your official TheoCon gaybashing tsunami warning.
Sorry I should have made it clear that given the numbers the GOP can have “events” but they won’t matter politically to change people’s minds or rally the base.
We however are a matchstick away from a gas can of going EU style Left. Not violence just change big change.
… afraid to ask, but what does the “WAD” part mean ? *g*
Ouch – Wizard – have to raise my rates.
Not an Opera fan, but that’s no slam. Prefer Safari Beta.
He can’t tack back to the center as long as Rush is watching.
Teddy,
In order to avoid spoilers, YGM
…with a d***
The Gooper ladies do not get the same grace, I’ll bet.
Steve’s FF was freezing on multi- core Mac but not on a single core Mac … I had the same issue with my MacBook Pro Core2Duo so I switched to Opera …
The GOP will own the media for a week on this but a month after that do you think that McCain will still have a bump because of this? Gas is at $3.51 a gallon in West Seattle and even 30%ers “do not live on Bread alone” they need gas too.
(hope I got the quote right.)
I think they might do the right thing finally.
And of course, add-ons are key. Dump them all and FFox is improved, but it’s still buggy.
Great. So tell me — is there one of these fundamentalist frickin’ nut jobs who HASN’T endorsed Snuggles? [gag] I’m off to snarl at my pillows now… See y’all in the morning.
that’s cool – is a standard warning we give every nite
The McBush campaign will throw the rightards some bogus swiftboat attack on our candidate to distract them from McBush’s less than perfect rightard scorecard as he tacks to the near right/center.
g’nite marion
Why yes, Doctor Dobson has said he’ll never vote for McStain, right?
Hahaha.
So you recommend Safari Beta, eh ?
BTW why can’t I watch videos on TDS online, I’ve downloaded Flash Player …
Aloha, Marion!
I never recommend beta. But if your OS is 10.5, the new Safari is from that beta. It is excellent.
I’m keeping 10.4 for now.
Til the bugs are ironed out…? ;-)
G’nite Marion. I’m turning in too. G’nite pups.
I don’t know if they’re still doing it, but Comedy Central used to only show clips using WMV format. Mac users can download Flip4Mac that will play them and convert to Quicktime. That may have changed, though.
g’nite gw
I think they caught on and switched to Flash. :(
A month after this ruling comes down, it *might* drop off the media radar screen, but not off the TheoCon radar screens. Yes, the 30%ers do not live by bread alone, but this will really revv up the fundy preachers — especially if the CA Supremes make Gavin Newsome into a prophet and man-ahead-of-his-time.
Of course, it also depends on how McCain reacts to the ruling. If he does anything other than bow in the direction of Colorado Springs, he is dead to the TheoCons.
Aloha, GW!
I have Flip4Mac and was able to watch the videos earlier …
I went back to 10.4 because my Newsfire RSS wouldn’t work on leopard and I can’t function any more without it. Waiting until I know I can safely convert and still get my threads fix without having to visit every page.
Newt, are you unable to see the videos as well ?
didn’t ted haggard get kicked outta colorado springs?
I’m extremely hesitant on Vista…! 8-(
Um, yes. And I barely have any gaydar.
I see them fine. But the Flip allows actual capturing of the vid if it’s WMV format.
Flash – I don’t think so.
Heh, I’m tone deaf, too…! ;-)
I thought he was somewhere in Tejas, not sure where…
Timing is everything. When the ruling comes out will matter, frankly the earlier the better. They thought the sky would fall in MA when it came down there and it didn’t. The more people that discover gay friends or family members, the more the issue gets diluted. The theocons are losing their grip on that issue but they still have abortion which has always been reliable for them and shows no signs of abating.
I have Flash Player on my Mac … what else do I need ?
A life? *g*
I hadn’t thought of how difficult the ruling might be for McStain. But you are correct — he’ll have to be quite outraged/delighted and say exactly the right things or they’ll walk.
Ruling by June Fourth.
Do you realy think the Supremes will mess up Bush’s conservative *cough* legacy just to give McCain a wedge issue?
ROFL … touche !
Nothing. But does that allow you to grab the video content to your hard disk? It doesn’t on mine, and no one I know can do it.
they will if they are told to…
McCain needs issues to get the 70%ers to win this will only piss us off.
I am unable to save it to my hard disk or watch it from the site, like I used to …
I need to stop drinking this damn green juice after 7pm, I’m bouncing off the walls here
facebook
OT- but thought you all might enjoy this.
“Carlyle Capital Corp. failed to meet four margin calls yesterday for $37 million, and has received notice of default from its lenders. The fund is the publicly traded arm of the Carlyle Group, the Washington D.C. equity and leveraged buyout firm that lies at the nexus of corporate and governmental power in the U.S. The Carlyle Group is the modern day source of enormous wealth for the Bush family.”
Sorry, thank you for the excellent research, but I refuse to actually watch or listen to these assholes.
But consider this: there are several military assholes in active duty uniform who supported Shrub who have said exactly the same apocalyptic shit or the same genocidal crap against folks batting for the other team as these “religious” assholes who support McCain. How hard can it be to string together five or ten YouTube clips of Shrub’s military fuckheads next to McSame’s religious fuckheads, all saying the same thing? Pay me royalties when you start collecting ad commissions, that’s all I ask.
I simply couldn’t resist…! Spread eagled, seems to pop into my twisted mind *G*
Yep.
But it’s the home of James Dobson, Focus on the Family, and a hundred other Dobson wanna-be’s who think geographic proximity will help them achieve that.
By June 4th? Wow — it could be one fabulous Pride Festival, if the Supremes rule in favor of same-sex marriage!
Thanks, logging on …
ohmystars, peterr, i had not thought of pride week. one hellofa party if…
One big difference with CA is that MA doesn’t have Orange County. There are plenty of TheoCons in that neck of the woods, like Lou Sheldon, who will scream a lot louder that the RC Cardinal in Boston ever did.
It was great timing !
I hope the Lake is ready to pounce on this issue which ever way it goes because McCain will take the opportunity to use the event to snuggle up to every fundy preacher on the right he can.
And thats were we get him we provide the media hate filled quotes from the fundies on this issue.
Then we point out that JC hung with fallen women and 12 unmarried guys. Then we ask them to point out when JC preached against men living together.
June 4th-SF time!
It’s a partee! FDL meetup and partee!
I wouldn’t really worry about it. Hillary is now on record as favoring McCain over Obama in the event of that dreaded “3 AM phone call,” so how bad could his spiritual advice really be?
Valentine’s Day 2004 was incredible in SF. If this comes down vindicating Newsome, the whole month of June will make that look like nothing.
Still there and still loved. Hope y’all have a great visit.
Now just how does Bush plan to save his family cash at the expense of tax payers is the question. We need the Dems to say no bailouts for Bush Hedgefunds!
The oddest thing in Boston was when we were out in front of the State House when the ConCon was meeting. The pro-marriage crowd was large, varied, colorful, etc. The theocons across the street looked like they were bussed in from a fundy church whose membership was immigrants who spoke little if any english. They all had the same printed signs. And then there were a few angry white guys in the mix. It was surreal.
Heh, and Teddy would be grand marshal throughout…! *g*
Teddy could finally set a wedding date…
He’ll spearhead it, eh? *g*
Between the lawyers, the preachers, and the gays, I think the frontpagers here are probably up to it.
My personal hope is that the fundies go completely nuts, so that McCain has to choose between independents (who are horrified at the TheoCons’ reaction) and the right wingers. Either way, McCain loses someone.
I’m sure they have lots of Halliburton stock squirreled away somewhere. And probably lots of Exxon-Mobil too.
I wouldn’t lose sleep worrying about their gravy train getting derailed.
We could throw him a shower.
help select the flowers…
works for me.
It would be awfully hard to see CA go for McSame no matter what. But I’m sure we can cover it well.
Apparently he has a friend in Hillary.
I can contribute some tasteful Hawaiian Shirts…! ;-)
Get drunk at the wedding and do the gator.

Oh, goody. How many more repigs will be caught in the dragnet?
No evidence that Mary Magdalene was the fallen woman who is mentioned in Scripture (and that tale is by most academic Biblical scholars a much later insertion, in any case). There are at least three women named Mary in the Gospels, two of whom were not his mother. Neither have any mentioned evidence or sordid prior activities…although it’s clear that the “annointing” Mary of Magdalene was quite close to Jesus to the chagrin of several other disciples. It’s interesting that Mary M was the “annointer” and the one honored (with other women) to bring the word of the Resurrection back to the male followers (who all disbelieved). With the exception of the Baptism, she was the actor in all of the important ritual acts of the community under Jesus. Clearly Jesus was a very odd sort of patriarcha; Jewish leader to allow women such important roles.
That said Jesus did forgive a woman for what he viewed as sexual sins. This woman was the Samaritan at the well. It was utterly odd, again, for a man to chat up an adult woman (the time was equivalent to much of the Arab world today where doing this would lead to questions of fidelity). Further it would have been even stranger for the woman to speak with a man about her personal affairs. The woman had been married and divorced several times, it seems. This was legal under Jewish law, but the matter of some debate. Jesus actually opposed divorce, and told the woman not to sin again (this may be why the other (possibly Greek apocryphal tale was inserted into the Scripture). The casualness of his discussion and his understated command demonstrates his approach to “telling people off” (other than the wealthy money lenders). Interestingly, the woman was a Samaritan, a religious sect that was considered as bizarre to the Jews as the Muslims and Mormons are today to the Christian fundamentalists. Jesus didn’t care. So you are correct…he hung out with discouraged tax-collectors, “loose” women, the poor, erstwhile political firebrands (the Iscariot), and a bunch of others who would not have been acceptable within the dining rooms of the well-to-do.
I won’t tell PETA if you don’t…
rut roh – the sound you hear is puckering…
The woman at the well is different from the woman caught in adultery.
Jesus shouldn’t have been talking with the former, nor forgiving the latter. Neither situation bolstered his reputation among the religious leadership.
Jello Jay endorses Obama. Don’t know quite what to make of that.
Dang, some serious USDA Prime Beef…! ;-) *ducking*
People don’t talk about their abortions. I bet a lot of those in the Churches have had them, and a lot of the guilt they have is not because of having them…but fear of having them revealed.
What a creep. Ashamed to be in the same state with him.
. . . and speed-dialing.
trying to get VISA to change the name of the vendor before the mrs sees the bill
Yeah, I thought that was rather interesting. I haven’t heard a word about it, not even on Bloomberg.
I wish I had a thousand to blow for a hour, I remember 50 marks a hour…! ;-)
State Supremes, not the Roberts court.
Off to bed. G’nite, all!
g’nite peterr
SF Chronicle story is here.
G’nite Peterr – good dreams.
Abortion is the most closeted issue there is. You’re right, people don’t talk about them openly. If they did and folks felt free to let it all out, it would end the controversy immediately. it would become clear that it isn’t an issue of class, race, loose morals, etc. It’s about a woman having power over her own body and making decisions based on economics, age, maturity, education, career, health, and lots of other things. it isn’t now nor ever was about the “innocent babies.” It’s about power and stigma and not wanting women to have sex without consequences even though men can.
If everyone who had an abortion “came out” at the same time, it would be amazing.
As Peterr said, time to check out.
Sweet dreams everyone.
*poof*
Wear tye-die!
g’nite rev deb
Me too, so creepy.
(laughing) jen did not laugh when i sent her the condom dress as a possible mother of the bride outfit (but i sure did)
I’m sure they have lots of Halliburton stock squirreled away somewhere. And probably lots of Exxon-Mobil too.
I wouldn’t lose sleep worrying about their gravy train getting derailed.
Halliburton is going to get hit with war profiteering. Exxon-Mobile is going to be investigated for the Secret Cheney Energy Meetings thing. That and if the Dems are serious about green power Exxon is in trouble.
the dress
It’s an interesting approach to the old “prior to the wedding night” talk…
That is funny as hell.
Aloha, both Rev’s!
sleep well, RevDeb
Dior, no doubt
Suz, the photo of this dress is being sent to Mr.CE, curator of the Contraceptive Museum.
Heh, Ya did send it? Bwhahaha…!
Dang
valley girl found it for me to send her – she was looking for the worst possible dress that was not tie-dyed (and succeeded magnificently)
I said that the woman at the well was not the same as the woman being stoned for adultery. Actually the latter case of adultery is not so clear from the tale…some have said that it was a woman who was legally divorced being harassed by a group who didn’t accept it as being legal. In the story (which most academic scholars consider a later insertion) Jesus forgives her after dissuading the mob.
The Samaritan Woman was involved in adultery though, at least according to Jesus.
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”
16 He said to her, “Go call your husband and come back here.”
17 The woman replied, “I have no husband.”
Jesus said to her, “Right you are when you said, ‘I have no husband,’
18 for you have had five husbands and the man you have now is not your husband. This you said truthfully!”
While he told her “Go, and sin no more” that could have saved her life in that context. I wonder if the law in those days allowed “multiple marriages” for the purpose of sexual release, similar to many “temporary marriages” found in that region today?
They earned a million dollars at between a grand and five grand per date.
That’s only 200-1000 dates.
They haven’t been in business that long, I wouldn’t guess. I wonder who they burned?
I wonder if we’ll see the client list.
If we would test to see who is the father of those aborted kids and the fathers of all those out of wedlock kids men both GOP and Dem would be nervous and support state paid for abortions rather than child support.
That’s a nice thought, but not sure it would work out that way. It’s the woman’s fault for getting pregnant after all.
C’mon, Larry Flynt… You’ve been too quiet of late…!
you are right, ct – where did larry go with his big expose?
What a hoot!
And Suz, you’ll have to start a new tradition. Something borrowed, something new, something old, something blew. :}
There is testing that is being done for out-of-wedlock children, but it takes a court-order. The increase in this testing has been one of the major impetuses for the so-called “Men’s Rights” movement. I don’t see that testing of aborted fetuses will ever occur…too much threat to the males. And they’d simply say, as one famous pro-Life Republican politician did after he was asked about what would have happened if his affair with an underage page would have resulted in her getting pregnant, “It wouldn’t have been my problem if she’d gotten an abortion.”
Well, Trent Lott did retire….
ROFL

Which Republican:)
OMG Margot, that is hilarious. Also going to the CM. BLEW!!!
Scientists foolishly deny McCain’s maxim … claim Grand Canyon is 17 Million Years Old … Link

I think we have a talking point here for the MSM. After all the GOP sex scandals can the prolifers really trust the GOP.
