Suzanne!
i love the voice over at the end (cracks me up)
Suzanne,
I actually sent that photo of the condom dress to Manchester UK to a conference there, to Mr. CE. Lots of European curators talking about “objects.” Heh
Evening Suzanne!
The cure is worse than the condition…
there was a link on that thread to matching pants but i can’t remember which thread that was on
What a find, Suz. Funny!
only on you and your wallet – the drug companies and tv advertising folks are ecstatic
But, Suz, I want a new drug…! ;-)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMSFX1Vb3xQ
Meanwhile, i’m annoyed at my company Rx insurance because the generic the doc prescribed for the nasty little toenail infection that snuck on me won’t be approved without the usual rigamarole involved in a prior authorization from the Doc. Bleagh. I just told the pharmacist to get it switched to something else, make it a lot easier on all of us in the long run. The drug may be on the preferred drugs formulary list, but it’s such a specialty drug that they want written consent before they’ll say yes.
I can’t do topicals on this one, or i’d have used them already. Toe pain requires i need the tablet form. -_-x So by tomorrow i will likely be able to start treatment. *yawns*
legal in all 50 states
i still wanna find a utube for austin lounge lizards song – industrial strength tranquilizer – not much ALL on the utubes
Wow! That scared me!
That hugs, Alias! I wish ya a speedy recovery…!
its a cold gray day here at the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods – down to 43 already and still dropping… cloudy all day but they all poofed so it can get cold tonight.
Perfect timing.
I’ve had a headache since noon and nothing will touch it so far, even V1cod1n.
It’s flirting with migraine status and I think I am just going to go to bed. before I go though,I am compelled to do some serious blogwhoring. I’ve been waiting all day so as not to screw up a thread.
The Ornery Bastard has moved to Wordpress, finally.Tell all yer Repub friends and relatives so I can practice my new comment Moderating skills.
busted, honey, go to bed and try to get some rest.
nice blogwhore btw
Looks snazzy, BK!
Blog Whore with style!
And welcome to the land of “I want my edit back!”
The Drugs I Need!
I love this song!
geez, you got preview back. (shaking head)
I shall join Busted, I bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
Suzanne,
Charlie Rose had a segment about FaceBook. I saw the last few minutes only — anyone else see this? Please anyone else fill us in…
*shutting the eff up now*
Evening Suz
gwiner get me sum dat, youbecha!
Prescription not included
aloha ct
hey newton. how ya doing?
i did not see it… did you check the pbs website to see if the program was viewable there?
I did not.
Ick, didn’t find much, Suz.
Great. Not as chilly as your spot, but cool. Overcast all day until about 4.
let me see what i can find
charlie has his own site
I found the new Survey USA 50-State poll very interesting. Yeah, there are things to critique in terms of methods, but when one allows for the fact that they somehow gave McCain, Clinton and Obama states that were statistically tied it’s still a good measure of what races are close vs. those that aren’t.
Hillary does well where we would expect any Democrat to do well, plus Arkansas (Obama doesn’t). Both Hillary and Obama win Ohio, but substantial margins (at this point in the race). But there some oddities. Clinton would lose Colorado and New Hampshire…Obama wins them. And Obama wins Virginia. He also makes a race of it in North Carolina and several other States. Hillary makes a race of it in a few others that are different.
I think that these differentials reflect a deep antagonism to Clinton, while a greater openness to Obama by Independents and Republicans.
None of this survey reflects, however, any effect of differential turnouts that might be triggered by the opposition to, or enthusiasm for a particular candidate.
“Video not yet available.”
wasn’t that the survey that factored in the way the votes have gone in the primary?
what i found interesting was that there was only 4 electorial votes difference between how much one vs the other beats mccain.
fork
try it tomorrow – most shows have it up after it has aired in all markets
Suzanne,
I’m asking too much from you and I’m SORRY!
it’s more an annoyance than anything that severe, CT. Thank you, though!
Just bad enough to the point where i can’t treat it myself, hence the Doc’s visit. That and the usual runaround with the Rx insurance. (I’d be more impatient if i didn’t know how the process goes. One advantage of my job.)
it is not a problem at all christine e – tis part of what i do here – help out, answer questions, find links.
Sorry to takeover Late, Late Nite. People — WRITE!
and, you know how to do the workaround – that is valuable knowledge, alias.
The latest show I can get is last night’s interview with Gabriel Byrne
That was pretty awesome…
i’ve had this song going around and around in my head all day today. luckily, its a pretty dayam decent song
Should I tell you that I love him?
Terrific actor.
Miller’s Crossing.
The Usual Suspects.
And others.
Oh,yeah,
Frankie Starlight.
Yup. And i use it as much as possible to help my family and friends, along with my patients. Today i was the patient, though. About all i ask is to be able to put a sock on my right foot without that little spike of pain. Not much to ask, is it?
Haven’t had the pleasure. But the HBO piece he is doing now is pretty startling.
ouch… that’s not at all too much to ask, alias.
No couldn’t have…since in that case Hillary would have done the same as Obama in New Hampshipe and New Mexico. She does worse there, and also Nevada/ Look at the results and you’ll see all sorts of odd discrepencies – which means that people who didn’t strictly vote for one Democratic in the primaries or caucuses will either cross-over to the Democrats, or back to the Republicans depending upon the Democratic candidate.
Of course, as I pointed out, the actual turn-outs are not measured by this poll, so a preference for McCain may not be matched by the turnout for the Democratic candidate…or opposition to a Democrat by Republicans could stimulate counter-turnout.
I haven’t seen it, and missed it on HBO. Please let me know how you like it.
Wait, that all sounds stupid. I loved ‘Frankie Starlight” but it was an adaptation of a book that I can’t remember the title.
The Dork of Cork, is the book.
I decided to catch up with it – 5 half-hour episodes a week, this being week 6.
Psychologist and his patients, and his wife and kids, and his psychologist.
______________________
Frankie Starlight based on the novel “The Dork of Cork” I think.
i don’t think it sounds stupid at all christine.
i just had the best ham and cheese croissant sandwich. i picked it up when i was in town earlier today. token is upset that he only had crumbs to prewash on the plate.
owe.you.a.coke
Yea!
or pepsi, depending on family tradition (wink)
Go Girl! AND Token…
To sleep my lovely FDL friends,
nite christine
g’nite christine
’twas brillig in the slithy toe and gyre and gymble in the wabe
hey spidey
english please, spidey…
:-)
you must ask the jabberwocky exactly what he meant
i was thinking it was shakesperian or ole english
lewis carrol ’s Alice …but maybe you could insert the “v” I left out of toe and put a “did” where the and is…that is if you’ve got the borogoves
All momsy were the borrogoves, and the mome rath’s outgrabe!
Hi, Spidey
FunnyD
(laughing) how’s the north bay this evening…. down to 40 here now
Heh, I’ll see your “v” in Tove and raise you an “r” in borogoves!
FunnyD
not likely I would go out walking around
…how about the “did” where the first and is? can you pluck that out?
brr, Suz. At least you have the critters to keep you warm. My friend calls her cats the Portable Kitten Heaters. Speaking of which, I’m typing over mine right now.
FunnyD
O Frabjous day! Calloo, callay!
I love me some Austin Lounge Lizards. Thanks, Suzanne! Just sent it to my son, the Pharma rep.
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
….yeah…calloo, callay! forgot about that…
i was typing all evening with goldie in my lap and token in the chair next to me. i was dogsitting.
now i have token in my lap since goldie’s peeps came home from their night out.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought –
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
Just home from my LONG day at work. It got up to 52F in Anchorage today. Ms ET says my greenhouse was up to 80. I wasn’t here. Breakup is coming early. It is 39F outside right now.
No new arrests today, but tomorrow…..
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
oooooh…thank you
how much early, ET?
“And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!’
He chortled in his joy.
is this from memory?
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
ET how could you miss that wonderful heat?
Heck no. Google is my friend, as are cut and paste!
Though I do remember bits of it. I forgot about the TumTum tree and uffish thought. But who could forget the frumious bandersnatch?
FunnyD
I wonder if he’ll get as much laughter out of it as i did. :D
I guess if I had to choose it would be O frabjous Day! a very clear indication of …..?
What do you suppose our dear friend was smoking?
exultation and paternal pride, since he is, after all, chortling in his joy.
Maybe Suz will let me do “Hunting of the Snark” tomorrow night…
Hi, ET. Sounds like things are shakin’ up there.
FunnyD
Who? The caterpillar?
My dog Blackjack had his first acupuncture treatment for an injured shoulder…16 pins for about 20 minutes Weds we go back tommorrow for a stonger treatment…he ate everything in site and was very happy afterwards…wagging tail open smily mouth and perky posture…wonder
He needs a little jollying. The grandson had his heart operation on the 15th
of February. They hope to finally bring him home from the hospital next Monday. Ronald McDonald House is wonderful, but after five months, they are more than ready. Doug has to keep working to keep the golden insurance that his work affords him.
tomorrow night is eureka’s nite for late late nite. i have it tue, thur, sat and alternating sundays. he has it mon, wed, fri and alternating sundays.
Or the Cheshire cat?
Do you know what “breakup” means, Suz?
It is a term in the North for when the accumulations of snow, ice, junk, lost cars, dead bodies – animal and human – fesces, come creeeping back up to the surface, never to again be buried before life begins anew with spring.
Breakup is also a mess in other ways, like – “check the gas and fill up the windshield wiper fluid….”
It usually comes here about the end of March or beginning of April.
i’ve had good results from accupunture – and have seen stuff about how much it is used on horses.
glad to hear your little guy is doing better.
ET, how are you gonna get to your wood if it keeps warming up, isn’t it still muddy?
i thought it just referred to ice breaking up. did not realize other stuff would surface (but yeah, that makes total sense). so you are about a month early for it this year?
Good thoughts out to you and yours, Ellen.
If you mean the 80 degree heat in the greenhouse, it is because I was teaching and rehearsing 50 miles away.
Thanks, Suz. Should I wait for Saturday then? Or just ask his permission?
As for what was Lewis smokin’, I’m not sure if he needed anything more than his imagination (and penchant for little girls). If I was a mathematician I’d have to do something silly and creative to maintain my sanity!
FunnyD
Here’s some of the odd things on the Survey USA poll…take with a grain of salt as it’s too far out…and was done before the March 4th Primary.
Alaska is close with McCain 48-Obama 43…but McCain 56 -Clinton 34 is a blowout
Arkansas is definitely McCains if he runs vs. Obama…but Hillary wins it 51%-40%
Colorado is Obamas (50-41%) but McCain’s if Hillary runs (48%-42%)
Delaware is Obamas (50-41%) but much closer between Clinton (46%) and McCain (41%)
Florida is close if Obama runs (45%-47% for McCain)- Hillary wins it 51%-42%
Hawaii is a blow out if their native son runs (61%-31%) but close if Hillary runs (43%-39% McCain)
Iowa is definitely in Obama’s tally (50%-41%) but McCain wins it 46%-41% over Clinton.
Maine is easily Obama’s…but McCain cuts the race a little with Clinton 42%-48%
Similarly Maryland is 53%-39% for Obama, but only 49%-40% for Clinton.
Conversely Massachusetts is 49% -42% for Obama, but a killer 55%-37% for Clinton.
Michigan is a statistical dead heat for either candidate with McCain!
Minnesota is Obama’s to win 49%-42%, but McCain -Clinton is a race (43% vs. 47% Clinton).
Nebraska is competitive if it’s Obama-Clinton (45%-42%) but a blow out for McCain against Clinton (57%-30%)
Nevada is another strange-one. Obama is winning 46%-41%…but Clinton would lose it to McCain 49%-41%
Ditto New Hampshire. Obama is up 46%-44% (competitive), but Hillary loses that 49%-41%.
Oddly New Jersey is statistically tied with Obama (43%), but Hillary has an edge 47% to McCains 42%. I would have expected either to handily win this one.
New Mexico? Obama wins 50%-43% But it’s a race if Clinton runs 47% Love.
N. Carolina Obama makes competitive within 2% SE of McCain’s 47%…Clinton gets soaked 49%-41%.
N. Dakota is won by Obama 46%-42%…Clinton loses it 35% to McCains’ 54%!
Rusty OHIO is definitely in the Dems column…both beat McCain 50%- 40%.
Oregon I would think would be strongly Democratic. Guess what…survey says Obama would win it 49%-41% But McCain takes it if Hillary runs 48%-43%.
Pennsylavania is made competitive by Clinton 47%-46%…Obama falls behind 47%-42%.
South Carolina mirrors it’s northern neighbor. McCain 48%-Obama 45% a statistical tie. Clinton loses 42% to John-Boys 48%.
South Dakota is competitive with an Obama candidacy 43%-47% of Mc’s…but Hillary is blown out 52%-40%.
Conversely Tennessee appears to be leaning Hill Country. She makes that State competitive…tied with McCain 46% all. Obama loses TN.
Texas though is a race with Obama 46%-47%. Clinton loses 42%-49%.
And Virginia is a statistical tie at 47% for Obama but McCain stretches that out to a 10 point lead with Clinton (50%-40%)
Washington isn’t as bad as Oregon for Hillary but Obama would handily beat McCain (52%-38%); Hillary would lead only 44%-41% a statistical tie.
Hillary however does win W. Virginia (47%-42%), while it falls to McCain if Obama is the opponent (53% to 35%)
Wisconsin is Obama’s 51%-40%…but Hillary would have to fight hard to maintain her 48-44% lead.
So there would be some distinct differences between a Clinton and Obama race…with some surprising strengths by Obama in the Midwest and Mountain States, and Pacific Coast, and makes some of the Piedmont and Texas competitive. Hillary gets some Appalachian states, Florida, and maybe Jersey over McCain.
The list above would certainly make me think…O-BA-MA!
no, lewis…but you’re right, chortling with joy
Wow, you all have had a rough time. My best wishes for healing for your grandson.
The ground is thawed down to about an inch on south facing slopes, frozen down to aboout two feet elsewhere. It looks like there are enough low pressure systems in the North Pacific to keep it from getting very cold again here until October.
ES is pretty laid back – i just don’t wanna give permission for something on someone else’s thread.
…coincidence that I had a bunch of needles for my shoulder on Wednesday…it really helped, not entirely pain free but close : ) …a lucky dog
sending warm positive healing thoughts for a joyous homecoming with trouble behind ya, texasellen
The Mars/Pluto opposition is at 1:04 AM…getting c-l-o-s-e-r………………………..
does that mean mars’ warlike influences are heightened then?
Isn’t that opposition similar to August 1939? I’ve read that that was the case several times. Long ago, though.
…and expanded til they go nuclear (or nucular)
yes, it is not a common aspect…it happened in January of this year and cheney rattled the Iran bombing issue on the very day.
teh kittee has brought in a brand new mousie thru his “Let Meow’t” Since Christmas we have been treated to midnight presents of many mice, 2 rats, 1 grackle, and a baby cotton-tail bunny.
Spring is early here, too. Baby bunnies used to arrive about April Fool’s Day. We have only had a few freezing nights. When we first got the ranch, one of the chores was to bash ice in the troughs and tanks. Haven’t done that in about five years.
Thanks for all the kind wishes. My daughter-in-law is eligible for sainthood.
Thanks. It may be a multi-night undertaking. It’s subtitled “an agony in eight fits” and the fits are at least twice as long as jabberwocky.
FunnyD
What is a grackle?
*feeling like I’m about to walk into one here…*
senses of humor and fits much needed during these times
It’s a kind of bird, I think.
A gracKle is a bird
i’m not having as many below freezing nites – but am getting more hard freezes than i used to when we do get them – they were a rarity but now we get one or two or three a winter.
Yes, I think so.
So, how long will the Mars/Venus thing last? Is it something to wait up for, or go to bed and hide under covers or what? Should I keep the cat inside?
I gotta say, I’m not sure how much more forking saber rattling I can stand. Hmmm…maybe I really should plan to go to the Seeds of Compassion rally(?) and soak up some positiveness from Bishop Tutu and the Dalai Lama.
FunnyD
xtremes all the way around
Grackles are noisy black birds that tend to fly in clouds and roost where they can poop copiously on anything of value. Preferred roosting places are trees in parking lots and on round hay bales out here.
i’ve heard of swarms of birds causing trouble – always thought it was starlings for some reason…
Since Pluto takes it’s own sweet time it is an aspect we will be dealing with for awhile (months) and it has been in orb for weeks already…exact tonight, yes saber rattling and anger and people saying stuff that should not be said…lack of control
well, I think it’s time for me to turn into a pumpkin. Thanks for the good company, everyone! Stay warm and sleep well.

Lady friend who has severe mental pain told me she’s been getting relief for about 9 months…she works full time for Cal Trans and partime teaching Jr. College then does the director on the community service board which has been a nasty battle last 3 years…acupucture go figure for mental health
it’s the stress point
my acupuncturist gave me a treatment the day my dad died. it calmed my insides down so that i could deal with telling my girls without completely losing it.
…tooooodle oooo, all
Wow TuTu and the Dalai at one place at the same time…where when? good vibes welcome!!!
g’nite spidey
Night all
g’nite bigbrother
The round bales of hay—I’d never seen them before I moved from NM to Ohio. Driving across country I saw what to my mind were shredded wheat farms. ;)
The kitty’s mousie has now had it’s dead little carcass pitched out the front door after providing ample entertainment running between the sofa and the desk.
Yep. You’re an artist, Margot.
You’re very kind, Newton.
i had a cat a long time ago that killed a lb of hamburger i had left thawing overnight on the kitchen counter. charlie left it in the doorway from the hall to the kitchen. let’s just say hamburger was not what it felt like when i stepped in it.
..big pile of ground chuck ya got there, Suz.
One of our cats of long ago killed a three foot rattlesnake and laid it out right by the front door. Stepped on that sucker with bare feet and almost levitated to the roof.
yeap, barefoot and on my way to get my first cup of coffee. it was not a pleasant reaction and charlie was wise to stay outta my way until i had several cups in me and could finally laugh about it.
Doug got us the Let Meow’t for Christmas. (Fits in a window and, with a series of baffles, lets the cat go in and out at will.) It has been a mixed blessing. 8-D Little presents started showing up INSIDE within hours. Milton is the first in/out cat we’ve had in years. Mostly we’ve had outdoor cats who raised semi-wild kittens in fox burrows etc. The red tailed hawks culled them for brightness.
bailey leaves me her presents outside the front door or when it is a field mouse she has gotten next door, leaves it on the property line on the path between our houses for the neighbors to see.
Milton’s technique is to do a stealth entry then Meow loudly if he is not caught in the act of entering. Mousie escapes and until it is caught, I need to be ready to utter praise or we have another proud Meow and escape. I hate it when one goes under our desk. Just far enough away for the cat to bat at it for hours.
i think the fact that token the dog is around encourages her to leave her gifts where he can’t claim credit (like outside the front door).
I miss having a dog. We had a wonderful yellow lab for years. Maybe I should get a puppy for my husband, probably a border collie.
i’ve not considered myself a ‘dog’ person – was always a cat person. until i saw token when he was about 10 days old. he was the runt of the liter and there was something about him that had me taking a leap of faith.
his hair was still real short and his markings looked kinda like a rotweiler and i kept asking my friend rita, what did you say the dad was?
John has used working dogs all his life, mostly border collies. Goldie showed up one morning as a spayed, exquisitely trained two year old. We posted notices at the feed store and the bank stating that if someone wanted to claim her, they’d better do it fast. No one did and so we enjoyed her bouncy good nature.
sometimes, the dog finds us
attaturk is upstairs
thanks for hanging with me tonight pups. g’nite all.
