MSNBC calls Ohio for Clinton
So now that Huckabee is out of the race, how long will it take Ron Paul to endorse McCain?
10:20: Yet to report in from Ohio: most of the major cities and their suburbs, which explains, in part, why Hillary Clinton’s margins are so big there. Half of Franklin Co. (Columbus) is in…Very little in from liberal Lorain Co…
Tom Brokaw announced that Obama had 50 superdelegates ready to commit to him tomorrow. Politico reports that Clinton campaign working overtime tonight to keep people from defecting.

ok
my puter is having troubles tonite
So when does Clinton thank all the Republicans who kept her in this thing?
ok sumtins wrong
lol!
This isn’t a slam on Hillary’s campaign. I just wish we could define what “win” means. It seems that word has taken a real beating in our country over the past 8 years.
Jane!
i thought Obama still gets the superdelegates? no?
I fear that this means that we will now see the formation of the circular firing squad. Which is NOT a good thing.
i said a long time ago this wasn’t over and i still believe that. i wish it was, though. i don;t think a knoick down drag out into june will be any good for us.
Democratic self-immolation? I can’t stand this anymore…
My fear as well. She won’t be muscled out as easily with the OH win, and probably not at all if she gets even a small margin victory in TX.
little poo …..i wish the Clintons would back off just a bit, makes me want to go back to sleep for 8 more years
Russert is saying that the victories for Clinton are psychological. WTF?
i’m sleepy.
hey, what’s next on the calendar after this primary wise?
Well, the Republicans will just get bored now in the states that are left.
Hillary takes Ohio!
Yea Hillary!
I guess she needs to start with HoJo and work her way on down…
It’s already been taking practice shots. Now it will be in full force. Agreed. Not a good thing.
And now that means the fight moves into my backyard—for the next 6 WEEKS. AAAKKKK
Jesus, the entire Democratic race balances on Texas.
The very thought of that made me throw up a little in my mouth.
he is a psychiatrist/lawyer/soothsayer
Ain’t that the truth. Dubya, Cheney and McCain all maintain that we are winning in Iraq.
Timmeh resides in his own little world.
If this was Obama winning after an 11 state losing streak, the pundits would be talking about when he drops out and being incredulous about sticking around.
Timmeh thinks the delegate count is important. This has got to be embarrassing for MSNBC.
Texas now has HRC in front – anything still outstanding there, other than caucuses, which might bring Obama back?
makes me throw up a lot… ug
g’evening all – i see nothing much has been happening and it is another quiet night here at the lake
Listening to Russert is like listening to an Eggplant
If that’s true, it’s one of the stupider strategic moves on Obama’s part. He should have announced those endorsements over the weekend, to really put the pressure on Clinton today.
More likely, in my opinion, is that Obama has 50 superdelegates who told him some version of “if Clinton loses again tomorrow, I’ll endorse you to help push her out of the race.” You can vary what each SD meant by “loses again,” but the overall thinking was not so much “Obama is the candidate I want” as “If Clinton loses, we need to help her say goodbye to the campaign trail.”
I can’t believe the fear/muslim thing actually worked with white voters in those two states. Plus Rush Limbaugh urging listeners to vote Hillary. Plus the conservative Canadians meddling over Nafta in Hillary’s favor. Shame on you, Hillary
Houston only reporting 1%, overwhelmingly for Obama.
No, it’s Obama who has been getting the lion’s share of the Puke and Indie votes.
Totally quiet on the Obama front.
i personally, can NOT keep fighting my government for another 8 years! it’s gonna be “ex-pat” time pretty quickly here if rethugs get this!
Mrs. Alan Greenspan: ”Clearly they are going to claim victory tonight…” It’s no longer about the good of the country, it’s about the ego-gratification of the millionaire ruling-class and their lackeys and sycophants.
yup, yup
All the bad vibes might go away if they run as a ticket.
I think he is mixing up “psychological” with “numerilogical”…
WOOHOO! Loo Hoo!
but it’s all about delegates aand i just don’t gwet how that’ll work in TX. please, don’t explain it to me. just tell me when they’re all counted who got what. but i thought this “Hillary must win both states” was alot of hokum. she could lose both and still; pick up a bunnch of delegates-almost as many as BO. i’m bored with this. maybe i’m just tired of it.
OK, take the “poo” where it belongs, please.
Doncha love the way the media explains this for you so you don’t have to think about it? What a crock! ; )
Yes, the cities.
Yeah, I hate when those Canadians tell the truth like that.
Alrighty! We’ll see. Either way is fine.
who did Tweety’s make up tonight!?!??? he looks like a corpse.
it’s mot important?
me too, prolly for helth insurance too…Hill is in bed with big pharma
You funny! Sleep well.
Cheney controls Tim Russert. Whenever the Bush White House wishes to disseminate information they choose Meet the Press. Timmy even finishes up with a hot wash cloth.
It’s time– for “Just for Men”!
The Dems are out in force. That is the good news. Whatever happens is alright.
that’s the answer I was hoping to hear – thanks.
thank you too, CTBob
Excuse me but this story has been debunked … it’s beneath your candidate to reach like this … then again, maybe it’s not …
I like your positive attitude! More like that!
true
i’m not headed to bed – i just got here (laughing)
Then you can be victimized by our foreign policy.
almost all of the msnbc crew looks pretty dreary…
And that would be different from any other night how? He always looks like Corpse Boy.
NOT! Jeebus – people are frightened of us as it is….
/s
watching russert is like watching an eggplant
Miss you OC! We must be on different clocks!
His boy McCain hasn’t picked his VP and has not repudiated his 100-years war policy yet. Could he be looking pale because fellatio and deepbreathing are not always compatible?
Absolutely right on both points !
I’m not sure I buy the argument that we are hurt by the campaign continuing. If the Repugs still don’t know who they are running against, they have to expend more energy preparing for two different candidates.
If we keep making mischief on pushing the public financing angle that makes McCain shut down until after the convention and hammer mercilessly on his total sellout of his soul, we can really put him in a bad position.
i KNOW it, i don’t understand why those who love her don’t get that part. not flinging here, but seriously, that and the history in the White House should make things pretty clear. but what do i know? so many love her, i have to stand down and respect, at least, THEM.
Do you have a link?
ohhh i’m fighting a nasty cold and my meds are kicking in…. trying to wait for texas results……
no, it’s not … did you read the front page story on the NY times today? The canadians wrote a memo about it that looks very smoking gunnish … it’s got LEGS
Suz, just woke up! ;-)
I guess the “g’night” fooled me! In that case, welcome, pull up a chair, and here’s the popcorn…
he is omni,etc etc etc
Mrs. Greenspan turning out to be one fine little actress – keeping a smile on her face at a victorious Hillary rally…
lol
on the floor here!
Exactly. This is what I’m saying.
The two Dems on the same ticket will kick the Neocons outta the ballpark. I hope for that scenario.
Maybe . Hope so. But if BO does get the nomionation and HRC has succeeded in cutting him down as an inexperienced, unready speechifier…. not good.
meet the old boss etc
haven’t had much time here at fdl lately…
I’d take this as a straight line, but I’d be banished to the poo thread.
That is a valid point but when does it become not a circular firing squad and start becoming an excercise in party solidarity?
it’s not debunked… the front page of the NY times had a big story about a memo that came out of the Canadian Embassy … it has legs, it was on CNN all day today
And having two Democratic candidates to go after him, with the media in full chase, could be quite delightful as well.
This is too quiet for Obama.
Let’s put Jane in place of Andrea Mitchell, please!!!
and i’m cranky and need more coffee.
consider this fair warning that name calling and attacking other commenters will not be tolerated at all tonight.
dang, maybe two cups are needed.
24/7 of making shizzola up would do that….
they’ll be keeping cheney down there in the bat cave
PM harper has issued an apology for the leak but didnt fire the leaker – shades of bushco – no?
decongestants are our friends
:0)
The goal is: No more Bushco types. Let the people decide.
im readying myself for status quo
But there’s nothing for him to say until the votes are counted.
Good to see you, Old Coastie!
LooHoo – check out cspan2… victory party!
707!!!
Clap clap clap!
good to see all ya’ all too!
;-)
yep, it’s gonna be a looong nite… ;-)
Of course it’s important. It just didn’t need to be something Timmeh needed to say. It’s like saying it’s important to count votes. Obvious. Treating his listeners like dipshits.
definitely, I’m an economist … I know the U of C economics department… still can’t believe this guys consulting to a dem to begin with…
Anyone have an update on Victoria Wulsin?
Guardian of California Democracy! How goes it?
i want to see Obi debate McCain. that promises to be a real knock down drag out! Clinton @ McCain, not so much.
Switched to TDS. Far more entertaining than watching the endless chatter.
HRC isn’t gonna be *anyone’s* V.P., imo.
What’s this? Kirk, selling out to Big Pharma?
*g*
sounds like you could use a dive into some cold freezin’ water. back still actin’ up?
we can call mccain names, can’t we?
Politics as USUAL
Harper is part of Bushco.
I am so looking forward to a brutal and bloody road to the convention with lots of GOP benefitting attacks.
Then a hobbled stagger to the general election with a candidate that has been defined into malignancy by their own party.
Four more years!
-G
Texas
REPORTING: 39%
Clinton, Hillary 829,853 50% 12
Obama, Barack 814,173 49% 9
TOTAL VOTES 1,644,026
oy
WTf, are KO and Tweety having a spat?
Party unity is so right-wing…. ugh.
Harper has his tongue deeply implanted in Bush’ sphincter.
It’s the new McCain look!
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww.
that’s what i thought. i had originally added “that’s obvious, isn’t it?” to that comment but dropped it. that’s what I thought you were sayin’ but wasn’t sure. yeah, after all these caucusers and primaries we have russert to tell us “delegates are important”? file under “No shit.’ that is p[athertic for msnbc
Harper is a member of the Conservative Party. He borrowed American Republican evangelicals to raise (pro-life) hell for him at events during his campaign. Not unlike the Brooks Brothers riot in Florida in 2000 Rove probably hooked him up.
we can call mccain names, can’t we?
I will guess that we, can because McCain does not post here, unless he is deep cover.
bushco helped harper get elected….. using rovian techniques….. and true that dakinikat lol
Botox?
Look.
Stop more Bushco. Period.
I finally just got out of our caucus her in San Antonio at 10 oclock. My precint was evenly 59/59 split between Hill and Obama. The other slightly bigger precint that polled there went for Obama 10 delegates to 6 (don’t know the vote count). My precint seemed poorer and gayer, and the other one was very white and republican looking. The gays and the old time democrats were definitely out for Hillary. The yuppies went for Obama.
This is a VERY republican neighborhood. The Republicans had 6 people in their caucus. The dems thought they would be doing well to have 40, and there were 250-300. My precint had to have its convention outside in a parking lot with flashlights and traffic noise because there was no room indoors for all the people.
nah, it’s just another one of his personalities arising
omg pray it doesn’t SWEEP the reich wing scene!
*giggggggggle*
i’m getting punch drunk, i guess. when everything starts striking me as waaaaay funnnay.
night guys. i’ll reac all about it in the a.m.
at fdl, of course.
Kick Bushco out. That is the goal!!!
Harper says he can’t find the leaker. I’m guessing there’s a rather large Canadian angle to this story as well — perhaps someone in diplomatic corps doesn’t like what Harper’s been doing, and wants to make life difficult for the boss.
Smart move on Hill’s part, being in Ohio where she was favored to win. She needs this kind of media coverage right now. There’s no way she’s gonna drop out now.
Jesus, we’re in for a hellish few months at this point. I’m feeling very gloomy right now.
Is Cindy going to the WH tomorrow with hubby? She could look things over and decide the colors she wanted to match her day-glow clothes.
Am i banished to the poo thread?
so, where’s Obi?
me too.
jussumbody – thanks for the caucus report! sounds like another great turnout!
Ok, night folks! Big drive to have my wife’s PTSD checked out tomorrow, and I think I better be awake for it :)
I’m too hopping mad about the McCain has more experience quote to feel good about this at all.
Aside from the fact that Canada’s Parliament thwaps him across the head periodically to remind him that he doesn’t have total power and never will. Harper’s Bush Lite, but man, i wish we had that Parliament around. At least they’ve got some amount of spine.
Look for McCain and Bush to be wearing matching blue ties.
It must be really full of poo by now!!!
err…
I meant herbal decongestants, of course.
(whistles and looks away, feigning innocence)
Good luck tomorrow!
need stat botoxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, lids are getting heaaaaaaaaaaaaavy, heavy, sleeeeeeeeeeeeepy, sleeeeeepy
You have a very fractional picture of Texas right now. You’re going to have to wait a few hours. Most of the vote is early voting (1 Million granted) but the urban centers where Obama’s major strength is have not even been counted, and the proportionality of heavily weighting those centers is not being seen yet at all.
HA! first thing she checks out is the First Lady’s bathroom mirror!
honestly, God wouldn’t do Cindy to us, after having done Pickles Stepford for 8 long years, right?
st john will clean hil’s clock…
per big orange: Ohio results at the moment:
53 percent reporting
Clinton 57
Obama 41
Delegates (141 pledged, 21 super)
Obama 25
Clinton 12
and you’re not in PA to where the circus will be moving and PLANTING itself for 6 freaking weeks!
barf.
hmmmm ya think? my friend says harper wont last….
Yes she will!
Yes she will!
…
‘yes she will’ vs ‘yes we can’ — about sums it up.
obama got more delis?
More likely that someone such as the PM is not interested in an Obama presidency.
ho-hummmmmmmmm
Or just below PA, where we get their ad feed even though we don’t vote until May. That’s so much worse…
Blue is the new red. Both creepazoids with blue ties it is.
as of 30 minutes ago at 53% of the vote counted
No kidding! It’s gonna be a real circus in the Keystone state for a while.
Guess I’ll be calling PA women this week instead of Texas women
Good for you, Suz. Let’s keep it civil and democratic.
Harper wants eternal war. Obama would see about that.
Hillary just told us she won Florida and Michigan.
My sympathies.
McBush will go down in flames against the Democratic nominee. Deja vu all over again.
This continues and we all lose.
Got a link?
Maybe because she really means it when she says she’ll renegotiate NAFTA.
Yeah, you noticed Tweety’s crossed-arm body language too:)
That was awkward….in a good way
Keith and Rachel put the rest to shame
saw a program on that …cult of the booooooooooooosh blue ties
Except they’re buckling on the budget and on Afghanistan. Nobody wants an election right now.
((((noonan & ms. noonan))))
good sleep and good luck
good speech so far – credit where due, etc.
Of course.
How could I have ever thought otherwise?
I denounce my earlier comment. I’ll even denounce and reject my earlier comment.
My sincere apologies.
On the confusing OH delegate counts – looks very fluid – here’s what Chris Bowers says:
That’s what I am afraid of too…
OT:
I have a new post up about the scheduling of the primaries and our state high-stakes testing for students.
On Texas and Priorities
Very much doubt it.
Technically, she did per the vote totals. Although their delegates are in counting limbo per the DNC…so winning them doesn’t add to her total at the convention in August.
moi aussi
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03…..ref=slogin
Oh, no…it’s three AM in the white house, Hillary do you know where your voters are? Hint: they’re not at DLC headquarters.
Nader on TDS – He needs to get a life.
saw wolfe B interview Dean today … he didn’t sound like he was to open to revisiting that … he said rules are rules
Argh. Thanks for the info, Fern. i’d imagine they’re buckling but they sure as hell aren’t spineless as Congress has been. It doesn’t have to be a Vote of No Confidence or an election called. He still gets told ‘hell no!’ often enough to make it stick, i’ve noticed. That’s still a good thing. I dont’ know enough of the intricacies, just what i’ve seen on CBC.ca. Those sessions have got to a lot noisier than ours. *grin*
And lose easy access to the oil sands, I don’t think so.
Big Brotherism on the march on-line.
-G
it’s 3 am in the white house … george bush has sent all calls to voice mail
When is she going to thank Ken Blackwell…? Jeez, she’s thanked every pol in OH but John Boehner and Pat Tiberi
No TDS spoliers for the Westies, please.
Thanks guys.
It’s like listening to an Academy Award speech… [snore]
where’s Obi? where is he?
That’s what he’s said all along. I don’t see him as a changing horses in midstream kinda fella, do you?
i hope so but i dont share your optimism….. once that machine gets cranked up against her – oh man its gonna be ugga lyy..
“Presidents Analyst”…..everybody hates the phone company…lol
Also electricity, access to which is guaranteed through NAFTA.
Jon Stewart slaps Bill Kristol across the face and calls him a dick and a warmonger.
Just kidding, that’d never happen.
-G
no,i don’t … he seemed quite firm today
They always do this — Obama included — but viewers rarely see it as the TV folks usually cut away to the studio for some Very Serious Commentary instead.
707!
sowwy! Goin’ nite nite now.
Oh, no missed TDS… ratz.
“We won Michigan. We won Florida.”
NO SHE DIDN’T
NO SHE DIDN’T
Did Bill have the experience to answer the phone at 3am upon arrival at WH?
NO HE DIDN’T
NO HE DIDN’T
Congrats to Hillary on Ohio & Rhode Island, but it ain’t over… and do us all a great favor and cut the BS.
FL was important for another reason, aside from delegations: PR. Among the non-political people I know, which is most of whom I know, the intricacies of the Primary move are lost on them, and they could not care less. What they did care about was the idea that they were being snubbed, by the Democratic Party as a whole. Not good for the brand, and not good for the prospects in November.
Yup, very true.
Yeah right, because in places with open primaries, they’ve flocked to vote for her. Right?
She’s back… it’s the return of the living dead!
BLESSEDLY short speech. thank Gawd.
is it my teevee or does her hair color change regularly?
Jon Stewart did take care of Tucker Carlson rather nicely, though.
Hill took Hucks advice…she refreshed
I was just being facetious…
Didn’t miss much . . . . Nader. Opening was good though. Reruns countless times in the morning and afternoon
Have you met our poo flinging thread?
Jesus, the ONE time we have an absolute SURE THING, a no-brainer to win the White House, and we end up with two candidates who somehow manage to split the Democratic electorate right down the MIDDLE! I can’t fucking STAND THIS!!!
Twill happen, you watch!
Americans of all stripes are fed up and they are going to lay the blame justly on the Repugs.
Yes, the Repugs will be their same ol’ ugly self in the runup to the general, but it ain’t gonna work this time.
It don’t matter what mud the Repugs throw, they are goin’ down for the count!
Glad to hear it. Sorry for taking it seriously. *g*
RevDeb, perhaps it’s only the rural mid-state boys who were at school with me in Philly, but PA electoral politics remind me of:
“Philadelphia in the east, Pittsburgh in the west and Alabama in the middle!”
OK – it’s Carville…but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
If he’s right, I can understand Santorum’s election.
Yep, agreed. But once the decision was made, and the rules were set, there couldn’t be some reversal of that midstream. But there should have been a lot more consideration to what the GOP legislature in FL especially was doing to screw with the Dems.
I keep telling you folks that TEXAS doesn’t use an overall statewide delegate count. It’s based upon districts, and the delegates are proportioned by Democratic turnout in previous elections. In order to get more DELEGATES…even in the Primary…Hillary has to win many more districts than Obama…and do so with votes of over 60%. Obama has it easier since districts in which he has greater support not only had more delegates, but also were more likely to reach 60% or more thresholds.
Even with the popular vote Obama could win more delegates. Caucuses too!
gently into that good night
in search of good news i checked out vic wulsin’s race. she leads her two dem challengers 55% to 31% & 14%, 59% of precicts reporting.
woo and hoo!!
Just wake me up when Bushco is gone…I just want them gone. I was never afraid of the government under the Clintons…
Buschco must go. No McCain Administration.
NOOOOOOOO BrokeAwww! YOU do not dictate what is and isn’t relevant to the electorate!
Pompous ass.
What? I can’t celebrate Hillary’s win?
They aren’t going to split things down the middle. It will settle out — it always does. Think JFK and LBJ beating the living shit out of Nixon…
And for a long time I was lamenting the fact that I had moved to a state that didn’t have it’s primary until late April and it would all be over by then making my vote meaningless. Now, not so much, but there’s no one I want to vote for, so to me it’s still meaningless.
I’ll vote in Nov. to preserve and protect the SCOTUS, but I that’s about it.
Unfortunately Tucker wasn’t one of the chief architects of the Iraq war. Kristol was and he comes on for a bi-monthly fluffing and ball-cupping session with Stewart who then vents his outrage at half-wits like Tucker and Matthews.
I have less and less respect for Stewart.
-G
yeah, well put! THIS and the House caving to Bu$h on immunity. WHY do I even care about this chit?
night sadly yes
Pennsyltucky.
sounds a lot like how bush won the presidency
he swallows his words under his breadth, poor delivery
I wonder. Will the Floridians and Michiginers somehow be able to vote? As a teacher, I think it may be best to leave it alone. If the rules aren’t followed, they mean nothing.
nite nite dear
JFK/LBJ defeated Nixon only by the skin of their teeth, and through some political machinations in Illinois. It was far from a landslide. If we let it get that close in November, we’re dead (think DIEbold!)
aptly put lol- i have relatives in allenton bethlehem and reading …
Bob’s right on that one. I remember it not being settled until the next day and had Dick Daley not done his voodoo we would have had Pres. Nixon in 1960.
Oh sure, nitpick the damned analogy when I’m trying to make you feel better…
Woo forking hoo!
I don’t think so. Crist, our R governor, came out the other day saying the Dems should have a do-over, so the votes would be counted, but there’s no way the R legislature will fund it.
OK, THAT made me LOL! Thanks Christy; I should have just accepted your kind yet hopeless gesture. LOL
Vermont’s Green Mountains!
So why would Harper’s myrmidons reveal that OBAMA supports NAFTA, when they would help HILLARY who doesn’t?
Y’see Reisz, that makes NO SENSE AT ALL. The Conservatives in Canada support NAFTA, and have used it to destroy the Unions and environmental regulations by arguing that they need poarity with Mexico and the US to remaiun “competitive” in the North American market.
Why would they damage a campaign of a pro-NAFTA supporter.
Except they didn’t…they were assisting the campaign of a covert Pro-NAFTA supporter.
Well, that’s interesting. She’s winning the battle in Ohio, but not the war (delegates).
Delegates, delegates, delagates.
That’s where the game really is, people!
you go obama!!
She hasn’t won. To win you have to win the delegates. If Obama wins more delegates, how can it be a win?
she has more super delegates………
