I miss Mike already
David Gregory said it’s much worse to have the middle name Hussein (that your parents gave you when you were born)…than to be called John W. McCain for who you are. The name Hussein is a beautiful name and many wonderful people have had and have that name, but stuuupid Homelandians think there is only one other person in the world with that name, and he was evil, so it’s an evil name. Not.
I…don’t…think…so….
Pass the popcorn…
I guess a never ending party was too much to ask for!
Gotta watch out for those preachers when microphones are involved.
Or so I’ve heard.
;-)
Well, it’s his last chance to take center stage, y’know…
*doing the backstroke through this primary thread*
Huckabee’s background made me seasick. Or maybe it was Janet’s necklace and earrings ensemble combined with the bright blue polka-dot tie. Blergh.
Make it stop, Jane…

I’ve had it. Bed time. My watching doesn’t change the vote, and it just gets me (and I think everybody else) steamed up. Ohio not looking good. I can imagine tomorrow’s spin. What difference does Obama’s victories make if he can’t take FL and OH? It’s an arguable point and will be argued. I don’t buy it. All those union guys and gals aren’t going to turn around and vote for McShame.
Have a good one. See you tomorrow.
Anyone want to wager when Texas and Ohio will be called?

Wow–flashback. I remember when my kids were little and watched Sherri Lewis.
I miss my kids being little.
This is amusing to me for some reason. Since Huck is out, Ron Paul has been “promoted” by the CNN graphics people. And, judging from the picture, he looks a little surprised about that.

100 years?
No, he’ll get a prime-time slot at the convention, to get all the TheoCons on board with St. John.
There’s also the possibility that this was his audition tape for the VP search committee.
It was the background. It made me a bit vertiginous too…
Is that John’s wife? I can’t tell the difference.
Ow! My eyes. Cindy McCain’s suit in high def is physically neon-ly painful.
DAMN, that’s BRIGHT yellow that Mrs. St. McCain has on… My eyeballs are twitching…

No way will McCain allow that, he’s way too spiteful!
White fang and soupy!
You know, Jon Stewart won’t have to change his Bush snicker too much to do McCain…
She has de-Startrek’d her hair…
Not watching TV but where does she get all those glow-in-the-dark suits? The colors are outrageous.
Why are they both so repulsive, McCant is as nauseous as the Huckster…!
Edwards getting 2% in Ohio
Snicker the same, needs to add the crazy eyes.
You know, Jon Stewart won’t have to change his Bush snicker too much to do McCain…

John McCain: one child who got left behind…at least in the speech giving class! This is like some kind of bad infomercial whatching this joker TRY to read his heartfelt victory speech.
Unfuckingbelievable.
McCain’s eyes are dead…
McCain is the last best hope of Mankind…did he sort of just say that?
where’s his man john hagee??? his very dear friend….
Why did I eat a whole stick of sausage before he gave his speech?
omg STFU. that’s it. need drinky poo.
and the media morons talk like he could actually WIN!
need shot with drinky poo
I’m going to get mighty tired of hearing “my friends” before November.
gawd, how do they think they’re going to pull that off? not that reality has been any issue for them, but at some point, you’d figure losing two wars at once is enough …
My Friends…
The Mad Bomber speaks! Make him go away!
He may be spiteful, but he’s also desperate.
He remembers what Bush and Rove did to him in South Carolina in 2000, and yet he bowed and scraped to get the Bush lovers to back him in this race.
One way or another, McCain needs the TheoCons. And he knows it. But I wouldn’t expect Hagee to get the VP slot on the ticket.
Here he goes fear mongering already
Oh, oh, oh…he invoked the security “under our watch” thingy….
Hey Pukes!!! Listen up!!!
9/11 happened under your watch!!!
Katrina happened under your watch!!!
You are fair game now.

direct corneal injections of botox to keep them open imo
Apparently there are about 8 precincts where the Clinton campaign claims that Obama supporters got the precinct materials early but there are no details except that the precincts are in the big Obama supporting cities. And remember that the Clinton precinct training materials told their folks to try to get them first. My guess is that each side had enthusiastic supporters trying to gain control of their precinct caucuses and this comes out in the wash.
Folks who know at FDL says its the botox.
Check again after you see his eyebrows start moving a little.
I’m sure we’ve got some alcohol somewhere around here. BBL.

thats the repug trump card always…. and most amurricans fall for it – its going to be a looooooooooooooong campaign
Heh. The Botox is uneven — his right eyebrow moves, but not the left.

While we’re waiting for substantive results, I offer this digression to those who care to ponder whether any of our political class are to be trusted at all…

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh tummy hurts from laughter
OK, so defend why we should have deposed a leader of a sovereign country again. The first 20-30 reasons were proven false.
That’s a pretty pathetic turnout for his victory speech…! ;-)
The Texas Delegate process is so complex it likely won’t be called on that level until tommorow when the caucus results are in…maybe even not even then since Clinton appears set to challenge the results (and has been signalling this for days in advance). But the votes in the districts will be known sometime tonight.
I suspect that if those are bad for Clinton she’ll be in a fix. It will soon be apparent whether she’s using the TX caucuses as a bargaining chip or not. If she says…let’s simply distribute all the votes by the electoral outcome in each district…she’s at least recognizing the “will of the voters”. But if she says…lets not accept the 1/3rd of delegates allocated for the caucuses…she’s playing dirty pool.
Oh, I hope so.
Channeling his inner Gipper.
Glad the results have been just coming in as I was out of town and just got home. Having a good time or nail-biting time tonight? Is TexBetsy doing the caucus thing tonight?
Good God, I can’t take this. The CNN coverage is just awful. I’m going to go to bed and find out the results in the morning.
I’m getting seriously spooked that blowback in the middle east will be accompanied by the blowback in South America now and the war-mongering oligarchs will make sure national security is on the front-burner by November – in a very ugly way.
Despite all the talk about Republicans not being happy with McCain, you can bet they will all fall into lockstep now — it’s what they do.

Please take a deep breath and don’t shout in bold in the comments. It’s going to be a long enough night as it is. Thanks…
Senator Clinton or Obama will eat McCain’s lunch.
The botox is most disturbing. I’d like to see before and after…
He’ll start wearing one those things in the back of his coat for the debates – ear piece may be a problem because he seems to have a hearing deficit.
I think his right eye is more open than his left. Does anyone think that is indicitive of any health issue?
thats why he needs botox, lids wont slip

Big government? I have two words for you: Homeland Security. [flush]
I wouldn’t be so sure, it’d bolster his ‘Southern Strategy’…!
I thought all along Edwards was going to endorse Obama just before today to give a little bump, but I think Elizabeth’s dad just dies within the last few days. I wonder if that changed the timing…assuming this is true of course.
Sorry, sorry, sorry…
Oh, Hillary wrote his fucking speech.
Wow! Only 6% and it’s already over a MILLION VOTES! That’s an incredible turnout…and that’s just the Democrats!
BTW Democrats came out 4/1 over Republicans in Rhode Island!
I simply cannot believe that this is the best speech a guy who just was made his party’s candidate for president can come up with.
He acts like he’s thanking the Kiwanis’s club for that swell chicken dinner they just served…
people, just turn your teevees off … back away … stick to the tubez
I predict that Obama will win Texas and Hillary will win Ohio. Hillary will still be in the hunt in the morning. Its gonna be a clusterfuck. The MSM is already doing its fair and balanced best to sabotage the Democratic Party with subversive commentary and eye rolling. Tim Russert (controlled by Cheney) always gets to discuss the race issue. You’d think Russert might be embarrassed, but no. He’s got no conscience.
eesh…”dieD”
It’s an age thing — your eyelids start to droop a bit as you age. That’s why you see so many older actresses and “former debutantes” getting brow lifts once they reach a certain stage of life. Sucks, but gravity and collagen don’t hold out forever.

It’s like a train wreck. You just can’t stop watching…. ugh!
too many nip and tux
Botox slipped… pin stroke (he’s old enough)… minor nerve deficit from his melanoma surgery… all possibilities. (I am not a doctor, I just work for one!)
Gee John McCain John MCain sounds just like USA USA, you think you are tired of “My friends”?
After all the plagiarism stories coming out of the White House these days, McCain ought to be more careful. When he talks about Iraq, it sure sounds like he’s borrowing someone’s speeches from the 1960s about staying in Vietnam until we win with honor and just changing the place of the war.
I think the percentages are messed up since all the early votes are counted as one precinct or something … makes the numbers screwy.

Oh, Tweety….McCain is not Ike…honestly….
And Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani, and Thompson are all reliving the old line from the SNL debate when “Dukakis” responded to a bizarre answer from “Bush 41″: “I can’t believe I lost to this guy.”
Chuck Berry, Johhny B. Good.
He has class.
Tweety – here’s a little hint. McCain is tying himself to Bush, Democrats don’t need to do it.

He will, but it won’t make much difference. Gore and Kerry both wiped the floor with Bush, and 24 hours later, the media had declared Bush the winner.
thanks.
I guess about a few hundred thousand Pukes voted as opposed to more than a million Dems…
Put that in yer pipes and smoke it.
completely OT and potentially good news: hoyer’s daily leader is out for tomorrow and fisa is not on the agenda (although it was listed as a possibility for wednesday on the week’s schedule). also no house rules committee mtg on fisa legislation tonight suggests that we do have at least one more day to call/fax/ and otherwise continue to hold our congress accountable. let them know we are watching them.
also of interest on tomorrow’s schedule:
Those results are fairly close to what we had in WI, even down to the lack of Republican turnout.
They play it all the time. They oughta light up Johhny Winter and throw in Highway 61!

It’s been said that we invaded Iraq because of a purported assassination attempt on G.H.W. Bush by the Iraqis. Compare that to “638 Ways to Kill Castro”. http://www.638waystokillcastro.com/
By our McCrazy standards, Raul Castro would be perfectly justified in occupying the U.S. forever…
Hillary seems to be *really* kicking as in Ohio – is it over there?
I think Obama, if he’s the nominee, should choose Janet Napolitano as his running mate. Make St John fight for his home state.

That’s what General McClellan thought in 1864.
Thanks!
He’s trying to pull in that 28% or less kool-aid crowd that hates McCain but loves Bush/Cheney. If he can solidify a portion of them, and still fog things with enough independents in the race toward November with his faux “maverick” crap, he has better odds. And they know it. But they need to lock-in the lockstep crowd to get there…
Dr.Dean?
that is good news.
(sad that it’s good news, but good nonetheless….)
So he’s playing “Johnny B. Goode” after his speeches?
We need a Johnny B. Crap video.
OMG! That does not bode well for St. McCain, does it?

Remember the three different creepy Dubya’s that showed up for the debates with Kerry? Wired Dubya, Qualude Dubya, and Angry Dubya – all stupid.
Yeah she has Ohio and Rhode Island, I still hope that Obama takes Texas
I’m going to take an unpopular position…I think McCain is going to be an extremely tough opponent. He has a career reputation (justified or not)as a straight shooter, is a universally acknowledged war hero, and as Jane pointed out (about Giuliani) some months back, in the end the R’s will support him, not because they like him or agree with him, but because they want to win-they want to stomp dirty fucking hippies into the ground-and McCain’s now their boy, like it or not. He’s going to be tough to beat, and we’ll be lucky to do so.
(ducking)

Hey, what happened to my comment? McCain was a Clansman… VA-46 (Attack Squadron 46) of which he was a member when he was on the USS Forrestal when she had her fire was called the “Clansmen”, named by their first CO, for his Scots family clan, the Clan MacDougal. The MacDougal Tartan was the squadron “colors” and the squadron officers were always invited to the MacDougal castle in Scotland when the USS Kennedy (and other carriers 46 deployed on) went on NATO cruises to the UK.
you’re absolutely right. i’ve been sayin’ that for months.

That is a link to the Forrestal tragedy: 134 sailors killed, 161 injured.
Of course you don’t but that’s okay.
Delegates in Texas are allocated by State legislative districts based upon votes in prior elections. Hispanic turnout can be massive in San Antonio but because so many Hispanics voted for a Republican in the last two elections they don’t get allocated as many delegates as a strongly Democratic black district in Houston. It all depends on the distribution of votes in THOSE districts b/w Clinton and Obama…not overall turnout of one ethnicity vs. the other. And BTW Hispanics are not so monolithic in Texas as in California.
Upstairs
he couldn’t be up to anything… could he?
It’s there at 180 . . . with a little cautionary note from a mod. If you don’t see it, hard refresh.
Kirk…oh, fine. I know all about the Forrestal Fire, hard to escape being a former 70’s/80’s Naval Aviator who was on lots of ships including the Forrestal. Stick this link in there then… John McCain, Clansman. Gomen, my man.
Don’t tell me…you ran out of Republican ballots! ;-)
When it might have done some good.
It might stand for delegate distribution…but they’d have to be working out the districts to do that correctly. Maybe it’s just an estimate of delegates won.
I found two surveys for OHIO just ahead of the Potomac Primaries.
Quinnipac had it 55%-43% Clinton with 12% Undecided
Survey USA had 56%-39% with 2% undecided.
In Texas they had a Texas Credit Union Survey with Clinton ahead of Obama 49%-41% (8% Undecided)
and there was a IVR poll that had Clinton 48%-Obama 38% with 10% Undecided.
If the numbers hold up Ohio didn’t change much…or actually fell back in the last few days to previous levels. But Obama still appears to have captured the undecided from that point. It’s just that, according to these polls, the folks that were pro-Clinton before, some of whom he had won over, got “sticker shock”. That turn around happened in the course of a few days. Since the “revelation” from the Canadian Government.
Texas has shown a strong Obama push with very little change for Clinton.
early tx returns Houston wont get border until very late so Obama should bump and then she will gain
