Patti Scialfa – A Town Called Heartbreak. Most elections result in the loser residing in a town called heartbreak. This year’s primary just keeps on going and going and going – like that little pink battery bunny.
As always, this is Late Late Nite FDL, where off topic is the topic so chime in.

Looks like it’s back to the days when a Convention had meaning.
poo!
Hi, Suzanne.
g’evening all
Hiya Suzanne.
Y’all alone up here?
Math matters.
on to Pennsylvania
they are working their way up here from downstairs busted.
and if you are talking about backstage, hell no i’m not alone. i’ve got the entire mod squad backing me tonight.
Dugg: http://digg.com/music/Late_Lat…..Heartbreak
Hi Suz! Keeping up with the traffic??
Wow, new people.
thanks for the digg, nahant
Yea!Suz!
There are only 10 states left. I want to live in the reality based community. Why are Clinton supporters acting as if the pledged delegate count is tied? It isn’t. It will be very difficult for Clinton to make up the difference.
For example, see this:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…../80/468751
I’m depressed. In all this hoopala over the primaries today, it seems as if the House is marching lock step to give the FISA telecomm immunity to Bush. Exactly as he demanded.
It’s a no win for the Democrats.
hey christine e – some new, some oldtimers who stopped by with names newer folks don’t recognize
how’s everyone doing tonight?
I relly, really don’t want to see Dems beating up Dems. I want to see them beat McCain.
WOOT WOOT WOOT!
BATTLE STATIONS!
THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
After eight threads every one of you must be exhausted.
I luvs me some Mods.
Suzanne, this primary just made me so lost.
still counting votes in harris and dallas counties
let’s just say they are tired of hearing me piping over the pa system and if they don’t get some chocolate soon, there is gonna be a rebellion
I hear you. Me too.
come sit over here with me (especially if you have some more of that handmade ice cream).
i am so wanting the primaries to be over and the nominee selected.
Dems are beating up Dems, and Repugs are beating up Dems.
Did ya see I got out the Fire hoses to help clean up after the poo thread?
I was busy and missed the whole thing, never did read one comment.
Reeally slooowly.
It could’ve been a more, shall we say, “decisive” night, but its nice to be here. I feel dirty after witnessing the Clinton tactics/tone this campaign
So it goes to the super delegates.
In the meantime McCain has the luxury of campaigning unopposed.
for RayDuray if you’re around… SCLM = So-Called Liberal Media
Sorry I ducked out. I was having a hard time with all the raging DLC politics outside The Lake (which is my place of peace and love and kumbayah)…
John McCain supports torture by the United States of America.
Oh, and he is also a very poor public speaker.
With no money.
speaking of the poo thread
if you have any poo to fling, do it there. this is a no-poo-flinging zone
thanks and is there any chocolate yet?
He’s an idiot.
poo!
{channeling my inner pundit}
OK, where’s my check?
hubby just brought me a little ice cream, says i haven’t been smiling enough this evening.
I am moving over to you, with popcorn in a huge bowl in my lap. in fact, we have tickets to see the next really huge art show in town!
nice segue
/s
forgive me for reposting but Im too tired to type and to upset at what will happen to our party.
But Suzanne, YOUR party’s nominee was selected tonite!
*ducking*
On that note, I am off to bed.
LUV to the MODS
Speaking of which, what’s up with Jefferson county? 1%!?
I always get a little nervous when somebody refers to poo and chocolate in the same paragraph.
Are you sure you want chocolate right now?
that wont last long. He’s Bushs appointed one
Knock yerself out.

g’nite Teddy – sleep well!
a lot of people thought it would be decided tonight. it was not. some people are happy because that means their vote in their upcoming primary will count. others just want it to be over.
McCain tortures by public speaking. Bush to endorse McCain I wonder if McCain or Bush realize that with gas prices going up GOP popularity should go down.
The MSM is going to do it for free anyway.
Teddy! *don’t make me stop this blog*
(laughing)
guess the ole huckster is living in that town called heartbreak tonight
*spoon up* i want it to end, i’m exhausted but i understand folks wanting their vote to count
Tomorrow, Sir Mcshame will be submitting his most honored sef to an audience with King George 43…for further orders…how…quaint.
oh crap
uh mmmm well, how about ice cream?
So you would be happy if, say, Senator Obama finished with 100 more pledged delegates than Senator Clinton but she won the nomination?
If anyone hasn’t read The Ballot Brawl of 1924 in the news box on our homepage, it’s hysterical.
I look forward to seeing Chimpy embracing John W. McBush in the Rose Garden. Hope it gets a lot of play.
The more that voters think of those two together, the better for us.
so, did anything happen today other than primaries?
bet boosh thought about doing a news dump tonight knowing everyone was looking at ohio and texas.
yes please – but hold the fudge
linkie.. cracked me up
What Busted said… Great work all of you for bringing us the best coverage on the web for primary results… that goes for all the pups that help!!
*setting glare to stun*
Here’s a link to the Texas Secretary of State website with election results. They are still counting some very big counties with lots of Obama leaning voiters. Most of the Clinton counties have already been reported (e.g. El Paso went 75% for her). But just scanning and places like Bell, Harris, Brazoria, Dallas and others that the early voting was going strongly for Obama are still coming in.
I think the call for Clinton was a case of premature ejaculation.
The way I put it was that McStain is going to Mafia Central to swear an oath of Omerta to Don Stupie.
I was pleased to learn that my congresswoman opposes telecom immunity. I had not known where she stood. She represents a Repug-targeted district.
this is most excellent neuro. most excellent indeed. i’m sure she was happy to hear that you were happy about that position and supportive. we gotta remember the carrot in addition to the stick when dealing with congresscritters.
yes, in fact I do plan to send her a contribution.
Suzanne! you say chocolate eh?
My all time faves are the following:
For perfect little single pieces: L A Burdick
and my new fave – ice cream but hey: Vosges Red Fire (Mexican ancho & chipotle chillies + Ceylon cinnamon + dark chocolate ice cream)which you can sometimes find at Whole Foods
Their calculations are probably showing that Obama cannot make up the difference, which is not trivial. He may very well close the gap, though.
hmmmm
double crap… that was supposed to be
Yummmm
wow! brownies stacked. beautiful. makes me feel like i MUST go out and really find an all night place. can’t remember where one might be. aaagh.
Ecuador won’t back down they want an admission of guilt and a promise from Colombia not to do cross its borders again. Venezuela a member of OPEC stands with them.
If our Colombian puppet attacks we might face an oil embargo. Even if its just Iran and maybe Libya shutting off oil for a week or two the markets will panic. $5 a gallon will look like the good old days.

thanks for the link, suzanne
cnn link shows 16 clinton/10 obama
Premeditated Premature Ejaculation by the media is my guess.
Not at all. I love Obama.
I was hearing all this race stuff and wanting to feel better realized that this is a way for the Dems to win overall.
I still dont like Hillary much but want us to win at all costs and am trying to be reasonable.
is there a little blue pill for that one too?
dangerously close to war down in south america, mexico and brazil have offered their diplomatic services to try to calm the situation. i read in the brazilian paper how brazil is worried that this will destabilize the region
Hey Drudge…The audience is listening.

I’m tired and it’s past my bedtime.
Y’all have a good one, I’ll see ya tomorrow.
Well just checked in to see what condition we are in:

I’m referring to the TX caucus results. Scroll down. :)
have this going into the news box next
That’s awful… And terrific!
LOL!
Luv The Loofah dude, accurate.
Now, gnite.
you are correct – i totally forgot they have split delegates. sorry about that.
boa noite
Ah, so a breath mint and a candy mint.
;>)
Great story, thanks. ;)
i was laughing before it even opened up
all it needs is an egg to get drudge’s attention
g’nite busted
I don’t either. But practically since Clinton is definitely going very negative, Obama doesn’t have a choice. He’s got to go after her the same way or he’s at the mercy of Super Delegates who won’t come his way.
Many many people are arguing going negative got Clinton 3/4 if in fact she has Texas. If Obama continues not to go after her–and he hasn’t touched any of 15 areas where she is plenty vulnerable, he’s not going to win. I believe he realizes that now.
the u.s. supports colombia (hope they’re not counting on military help)
between you and cinnamonape, you’ve reached perfection in description. kudos you two!
G’nite all … time to sleep
It will be interesting to see the actual delegate counts when they finally get done.
can’t sleep. what did i miss?
I’m contemplating bed at the moment. Been watching the threads for the primary action here and at the Treehouse. But otherwise not a lot. Impatient because i need to get to the Doc’s on thursday. (annoying fungal infection on a big toe. Damned thing hurts! But isn’t life threatening.)
I’m also very tired of this primary brawl, but it’ll be worth it in the end. Whoever is the nominee, we need to keep this GOTV going strong. That adn nailing McCain for all his two faced ways.
That skell’s got enough egg on his face already. Nothing like an international incident for a cheap pop on Technorati.
i hope he does not go negative. i think it will hurt him and i will certainly lose respect for him if he does.
we gotta stop dems from beating up on dems – and have them turn their thumping to st john the anointed one.
i wanna dems beat up repubs – not each other.
sure sounds like you found the brownies…
*g*
g’nite siun
isn’t waterboarding bad enough?
no wonder people hate politics…
boa noit siun
before I sleep – seconding that Suzanne!
I think he showed – with a very fiery speech tonight – that he can fight back but on his own terms and I hope he stays with that path. Winning is not everything – and not worth losing your sense of self.
bon soir wobblybits!
(laughing) kirk, you certainly have your snark on tonight
Pretty good read:
Gaza Bombshell Vanity Fair
http://www.vanityfair.com/poli…..ntPage=all
Son Douglas is an Obama delegate in Williamson County.
I want Obama and Hillary to devote all their rhetoric to hanging that albatross, W, around McCain’s neck. Every point should explain the common thread between W & McCain on trade, Iraq, taxes, health, etc. ad nauseum.
They can continue with the kissy-face debates, primary coverage, guest appearances, etc. to take all the political oxygen out of the Republican air.
what kind of sauce comes with that?
FORK! i totally forgot about TDS tonight
Russia first invaded Serbia to protect their fellow Serbs during the time of Peter the Great, granted the Turks sent the Czar and his army packing but with our army so stretched out.
I’m betting Russia, Ecuador, Iran, North Korea etc are all waiting for us to go after any one of them and then they will all go after what they want at the same time knowing that our army is otherwise engaged.
So much for the Realists acting in our strategic interests. Bismark must have felt the same way about Kaiser Wilhelm taking over as Bush 1 felt about his son taking over.
http://firedoglake.com/2008/03…..-could-lea
Suzanne I agree with you and I really don’t remember who you’re for. And I’m not arguing but I mean she has definitely gone negative. And much of the analysis tonight anywhere, is that she made the gains she did today because she went negative and he hasn’t.
I simply don’t see how he caqn continue to take the high road–yes he has had some negative ads–that’s unavoidable in a Presidential primary–but personally he hasn’t been taking her apart in any speeches. In contrast, Suzanne she has really taken him apart in every speech. I don’t think he can survive unless he doesn’t go negative.
Let me ask you this: Do you think she hasn’t been awfully negative? And if you agree are you disappointed by her? I don’t see any analysts who say she isn’t going very negative.
What choice do you think he has now?
Of course it’s not optimal in terms of McCain but what choice does Obama have? He’s not going to roll over or walk away with tail between legs.
smashing.

g’nite siun
and the count goes on and on and on
dang, make one gramerically incorrect sentence and ya’ll just aren’t gonna let me try to turn the conversation away from it
pete – i’m like fdl in that i am still neutral. i will support the dem nominee no matter who it is against the r’s. and there are other r’s like me who have decided that also.
r’s outta the white house is what we gotta focus on.
Im back too. couldnt sleep
g’nite busted. good dreams.
pete, i have to admit that anyone who does negative ads loses respect from me and that hillary has – that does not mean that i will not support her if she is the nominee.
Make a deal with her for the sake of the Party
they talking delegate totals from texas? at least from the primary 2/3 of things?
and to clarify further, lost SOME respect – not ALL.
How does that happen given that Clinton has been rock bottom negative in every speech in Texas and Ohio and every other state leading up to today? How does Obama have a choice because to keep turning the other cheek is suicide.
We have had her surrogates all over the airwaves shouting Rezko–and I can promise you the public and most talking heads don’t have a clue what the issues are in the Rezko trial. They have accused Obama of no oversight on Afghanistan. He has no oversight of Afghanistan–he’s not on any committee–she’s on 3. So Ellen–she’s been negative on a 1/10 scale at about an 8 level.
What choice does he have at this point? If he stays positive and she continues with the Kitchen Sink strategy–and that’s what it is–she tears him to bits exactly like people have been saying 1000 times a day here who aren’t for Obama that McCain will.
I agree with Maddow. He needs to start fighting back. And boy are their issues for him to grab.
And into the court house, followed by the jail house and a double dime cleaning out the shit house.
;>)
My ex, who loves to play dirty and play power games and such, is a big Hillary fan.
Just sayin’
Betsy and Snowbird – you couldn’t sleep? so back to the Lake. Love it.
I’m drooping myself, so I’ll say good night. It’s been great sharing with all of you.
don’t forget the hague
still counting primary ballots. Dallas was not even at 30% reported last time i checked
Thanks for listening Ill try again to sleep. Im glad you all are here. Ill have to remember it when I cant sleep next time. *g*
my ex who is also that way is a mccain supporter
But you’d still vote for ‘em in the morning?
sleep well!
Betsy how much of Texas is still not reported and in your mind how much difference can it make?
So far from what I’ve heard, they are saying it is too complicated to say who has won how many delegates. Last I heard they were still counting some of the primary votes and much of the caucus votes. Someone said it might be a week or more before they know delegate totals. Media has already declared Clinton the winner even though Obama may actually end up with as many or perhaps even more delegates than Clinton.
night snowbird.
lake is open 24/7. we never close :)
my current can’t vote but if he could, would vote obama
abso-forking-lutely, kirk
i will support the d nominee no matter who it is determined to be and will vote for the d.
Sure it lets Tweety see his wife as Bush in a flight suit!
A week! Good lord.
wait, someone married tweety?
lard love a duck – i can’t handle a week of tonights – judas forking priest.
paging dr kirk, beam me up dood
Suzanne I’m not arguing with you at all. But what I’ve tried to figure out is in two parts.
Hillary has gone negative. She has come across perceptionwise as tough as nails. She has been told to make sure that she shows a grasp of every day issues so the usual littany any candidate has–health care (but I could point to a million areas of health care neither candidate has a plan for including the rising cost of medicare and other plans) and to show she is tough enough to take on McCain.
She’s doing it. I don’t for a minute objectively think either candidate has had direct 3AM call experience –judgement is a whole other issue.
But that commercial hurt him and his response was so much like her commercial it hurt him too.
So given the paradigm Clinton has shifted to–how else can Obama respond?
This is the reality many do not care to face. It’s a pity so much energy is expended on the horse race, when it turns out the barn is on fire.
Glenn Greenwald has much of intelligence to comment on the matter of the end of democracy, while the Potemkin Village election fevers rage.
My stance is that unless Americans can use their own laws in the face of such blatant malfeasance to obtain justice, what good would an international court be? The U.S. needs to see that its systems still function.
Pull out the weeds by their roots.
Didn’t he have her come on his show and interview him one time?
Suz, me too.
But I feel like we’re just setting ourselves up to be in a country music song…
the one about broken hearts.
sigh
And after November, bet they stop calling.
so if jon stewart has ralph nadar on tonight and had hillary clinton on last night, does that mean barak obama is on tomorrow nite?
Latest TX primary delegate breakdown via burnt orange report has it 63 – 62 Clinton. Virtual tie.
No every attack she does pisses off the Brown people and motivates them to vote even more. It pisses off the young people who are going to the Obama rallies.
We unlike the GOP were not motivated by hate politics. But Mark Penn does not know that.
I think states with a strong traditional Democratic organization are going for Hilary.
Texas delegate totals from tonights caucuses are the delegates that go to the state senatorial districts for the convention on march 29. From there whatever delegates are chosen go to the state convention june 6-7. So the final delegate count from Texas caucuses will come after the state convention is over June 7.
6,590 of 8,247 Precincts 79.91%
Hillary Clinton 1,280,161 51.27%
Barack Obama 1,170,639 46.88%
Via Texas Sec of State at 1:23 CST
I thought these voting machines were supposed to be – you know – efficient or something.
We get faster returns here with paper ballots.
I have never in my life been so grateful for Elections Canada.
ewwwwww
Clinton needed more than a tie from Texas. How is she doing with Ohio delegates?
my guess would be John W. McBush, I think Stewart likes him.
Wolf Blitzer just made an inaccurate statement. He said only Clinton & Kucinich was on the Michigan ballot. Wrong! All Dem candiates were on our ballot EXCEPT Edwards and Obama.
Biden, Dobb, Kucinich, Gravel, & Clinton.
http://miboecfr.nictusa.com/el…..PRall.html
Maybe we should email him about his error.
i still think it is in his best interests to keep the high road and save all his fire for mccain.
it just makes her look bad when she goes negative. no need for him to stoop to ‘her level’ is what i’m sure a lotta folks would say.
dallas county still at 30-35% reporting
befuddle him with facts? i’m all for it
Those totals are helpful as to percentages but as you know much better than I do, they don’t reflect the delegates. That’s what I wanted to know from you and Betsy because you know the geography of the Senate districts where the heavy delegate proportions are so well.
what did travis county do? williamson?
we have weird looking districts here. mine looks like spaghetti.
CNN shows it at over 70% reporting.
Yes *g* except Suzzane–what if he can’t stay in the race using the high road? Then he doesn’t get to face McCain. That’s what worries me.
Night all!!! :>)
Hi Suzanne and fellow pups,
Just a short drop in to see what’s what….
So I see Hillary made some ground on her campaign.
But the way she did it was kind of unsavory.
It will leave a bad taste for the Dems who leaned towards Obama. (Like me).
So what’s the bottom line here? Will we know in about a week what exactly was the delegate tally for both Obama and Hillary? When all is said and done is there still a chance Hillary can overcome Obama?…
SoS election results
Sorry, Biden’s name wasn’t on the ballot.
Wolf Blitzer just made an inaccurate statement. He said only Clinton & Kucinich was on the Michigan ballot. Wrong! All Dem candiates were on our ballot EXCEPT Edwards and Obama.
Dobb, Kucinich, Gravel, & Clinton.
http://miboecfr.nictusa.com/el…..PRall.html
Maybe we should email him about his error.
The Stockmarket has been falling despite the Federal Reserve all but promising to lower rates. Gold on the other hand has been moving higher in response to the Fed.
We just might have reached a tipping point where Fed cuts won’t work anymore. The Fed is reading these charts the same as everyone. So I bet they will cut huge to save the Market before the election.
After all what chance will McCain have if the market tanks.
g’ntie nahant
time will tell pete and there really isn’t anything you and i can do to change what will be.
He is winning, you know.
i just posted the SoS site and going by the senate districts in dallas county they were at 30-35%
I’m watching CNN, it is my impression that it is a rerun at this point. I don’t know for sure because I watched MSNBC earlier.
Does anybody know whether CNN is still live?
sleep well nahant
i’m gonna take a calming cleansing deep breath and not think about my pension
total state reporting is at 79%
Rick Noriega has 50.56% of the vote as of now. It would save a bunch of money if he doesn’t have to do a run-off before facing that fink, Cornyn, this fall.
Oh. The DLC still exists? I thought that was just one of the illusions presented in the constant spin of the SCLM.

I’ve developed a rather Pavlovian response to media these days. Anytime any odious liar comes on the screen, I turn off the boob tube. Last Sunday it was the odious team of Matalin & Carville gasbagging on “Meat The Pressed Flesh” with Timmeh, The Russert Potato. It was instantaneous when I saw that trifecta of swilling shills. I’m considering buying a brick or two, so that it’s just that much harder to turn the damn teevee on ever again.

wait.. is this now a rerun too?
i’m going to go by the secretary of state results
it is where the state of california public employee retirement fund tells it to be. commonly known as CalPERS
Yeah, they just flipped over a few minutes ago.
Those New York types can’t hang! :-)
But a lot of people stayed home in Michigan and in Florida because they didn’t feel it mattered if they voted. I don’t see anyway if Dean makes a decision and he probably needs to make it sooner not later given the dynamics of Super Delegate migrations, that he can or will change the rules in the middle of the game and just seat Michigan and Florida as they are.
Dean said as much tonight.
Florida I know didn’t have Democrats involved like Debbie Dingel–they had Charlie Christ and Republicans in their legislature screwing with the Democrats.
So where do CNN etc. get their results from? Just curious about the discrepancies.
Really? I thought I heard Noron sign off 35 minutes ago. I turned it back on and she is still there talking…can’t remember whether I’ve heard this conversation before or not.
After a while it all starts to sound about the same.
i flipped over to watch tds and they messed with my head when i flipped back to msnbc.
Who knows? I know it is a bit different from the SoS so maybe another site?
keep reading… i eat crow a few comments further down
you listen?
Same here. Thank dawg for the 1 am TDS replay.
It is Suzanne because I’ve heard the “Barack not a bunny line for the3rd time now.”
I give it about 10 percent of my attention while I am on my computer, and if I hear anything interesting I start paying more attention to the TV. I have to turn my head 90 degrees to see the TV screen.
i’m gonna switch it over to the science channel then. they are running a series this week about the internets. last nite was search engines, tonight deals with social networking sites such as digg and facebook.
There are several gigantic Counties (in fact the largest in Texas) yet to report all their results. Dallas is going 60% Obama with only about 35% tallied. Jefferson County is about the same for Obama with only 1 precinct of the hundred there yet in. Harris is now 75% in but going 2:1 for Obama. Tarrant is about 70% in with 55% Obama. Travis is now almost all counted 64% Obama with 80% counted.
All of the Hillary positive counties are already in, and have been for some time, some of them going very heavy for her (eg El Paso, Bexar, Hidalgo, Nueces).
Unless they estimated these in the calls for her victory I think that we could see very different results on the ‘morrow.
Some states have invested their cash in hedgefunds. If they start failing we so have an issue to use against Arnold! If the public is invested in a hedgefund then they should open their books to an outside audit.
Especially now that so many Hedgefunds are in trouble over the subprime mess.
I’m betting the hedges are politically connected too! We so have Arnold.
We can so make a case for a public backing of pensions along with government oversight.
Bush has proved that the freemarket unrestrained has failed. The rich got us into this with their cheap promises its time for them to clean up their own mess.
The Texas SOS shows Travis about 80% reported and 64% were for Obama.
Williamson is now all in and was about 60% Obama.
I am too. Did you ever watch Tech TV based in San Francisco and later it moved to LA about the last year? I thought they did a great job of teaching a lot of people how to use computers and software.
thanks cinn
i was thinking along that same line. if it keeps trending this way, the folks will wake up to a different winner
Well, I have

Good nite, all.
yeap and yeap.
they sure explained the search engine development last nite in a way that this landlubber could understand it without having to know how to program and write code and all that.
g’nite neuro (and yes, that was teddy’s tag line)
I’m trying to find the science channel. It’s been a good while since I watch it.
sleep well, neuro
sleep well, pups – watch out for partisan poo…
g’night!
It used to be called Discovery Science but the changed it a while ago. Right now, FutureCar is on so try looking for that.
g’nite kirk
boa noite kirk, neuro
i’m headed to bed as well. tis been a long day. g’nite pups.
I’m back in Minneapolis, but I continue to work for BBC, even here. I’m still living on Paris time after all…*g*
Latest from Beeb’s take on US election cycle’s today on World Today (I like the name of that program, BTW):
g’nite gw
At least the Rep in Mi got to keep half of their delegates while the Dem were stripped of all of ours. The rules need to be up front and not made/changed as you go along.
Thanks. I can find Discovery Channel. I don’t know that much about My Space and Face book at least in depth.
its a comcast expanded channel on their digital lineup on my cable box – sits at channel 272
I agree. Outside the elections themselves there are two huge issues.
One is the voting machines. I was surprised to see that in some places in Ohio which has always had the rep for voting controversy, they have paper trailsnow.
The other is getting things much clearer and more consistent from state to state. To me it’s a lot more sensible to have rotating primaries where the rules are standard instead of all these byzantine kabuki dances that are so esoteric that few people understand them outside the state committees that administer them.
That also avoids the “me first” situations that happened in Michigan and Florida.
hahahahaha
Thanks. It was easy to find. They’re doing a show on manufacture of automatic transmissions. But I appreciate the headsup. I’ll try to find out the rest of this week when the computer stuff you mentioned is on.
Have a good night and everyone else too.
boa noite, pete
think i’m going to try to get some sleep, boa noite gente
g’nite pete
g’nite wobbly
…evening pups, what’s left of you
hey spidey
Ok if the GOP thinks that the economy is tanking during an election year they have to blame us Lefties somehow. Blaming Hispanics for job losses can only work if the GOP can get McCain to change his position on the issue.
Anybody care to guess when he will change his mind?
Hi SpiderPaws
this is going in to the news box next:
I see you/ve been quite busy tonight suzi
hello TCU, did Hillary win Texas or not?
Obama still up 10% (w/ 35% reporting) in TX caucus results. Texas looks like a wash.
Good evening, all! I find it hard to believe all the venom in the earlier threads, perhaps because I don’t think either candidate is a good progressive. I will support the nominee, but I’m not thrilled with either of them.
yeap, have been running threads since about 830 tonight. tis finally calmed down enough i can take a few deep breaths and relax.
how’s the north bay?
ding! i would be a lot happier with a more progressive platform from the D’s.
i declared this a no poo flinging zone and told those who wanna fling to head to the poo thread and fling away there.
And the Democratic infighting is just insane, missing the important point of keeping McCain out.
TJ…I’m with you on the candidates
North Bay about 42* with lots of stars…something interesting tomorrow however…Moon occults mercury venus & neptune…sounds to me as if emotions will rule the day…think first, speak second,
It’s kind of funny, I get equally annoyed with people on both sides, lol.
today tomorrow (wed) or tomorrow (thur)?
We had unseasonably warm weather today, with driving rains tonight. I watched the water blow uphill.
I guess I was being paranoid last summer about Mitt’s Bain Capitol buying Clear Channel before the election and having Rush on his payroll. The legality of a presidential candidate owning a media company seemed insane to me.
However I was also paranoid about the hedgefunds and the economy last summer and now it seems that the banks don’t want to do deals with the hedges.
I guess that I can’t be paranoid about hedges buying good presidential coverage and being broke at the same time.
NEW YORK — A Providence Equity Partners affiliate sued Wachovia Corp. to force the bank to finance the private-equity firm’s revised purchase of a group of television stations from Clear Channel Communications Inc.
Clear Channel and Providence agreed in April to the deal for the 56 local television stations. The parties recently agreed to lower the price tag by $100 million to $1.1 billion. But Wachovia on Friday sued to extricate itself from the transaction, arguing the changes mean the bank is no longer obligated to provide roughly $500 million in financing towards the deal.

…sorry, Wednesday – today
I don’t know. I have not trusted the results in close races since Gore won Florida.
tis currently a chilly 40 outside with clear skies and still some breezes to make it feel colder.
TCU, I don’t think you are paranoid in the least. I still think that something is going to happen to prevent November’s election.
prepare ourselves Californians…with several planets changing channels to water signs (mercury, Venus, mars) and Uranus and the Sun already in water signs, two things: big rains coming & lots of emotion, a sea of swish
fork. i do keep stocked up with supplies up here on the mt and the good news is it is the beginning of the month and not the end of the month so i can replenish anything i am lacking.
Nice summation of tonight’s TX results in the NY Times (via BOR). Obama lost the popular by about 100k; is leading the caucuses by about 10 points. Almost 50k votes cast for non-viable Dems.
Home from work, gang. Have we defeated the McCainites yet?
Weather changes around mid month, you’ve got lots of time to stock the cupboards : )
hey et – mccain cinched the r nom is what i hear
the ides of march…
…and Huck gets a teevee show
Evening, ET.
St. McCain is beating hisself – he gets a photo-op with Chimpy tomorrow in the Rose Garden.
The symbolism is multi-layered!
et, how’s your family friend doing today? she was on my mind today.
i beg your pardon…
Please no.
The only thing I can think of that might be worse is that if something bad happened to Bush, martial law would be declared and Cheney would be president.
That was fast!
Did TCU get edited? He wasn’t advocating violence.
Keeping her chin up. Her dad is the only person yet indicted who didn’t steal anything. He just believed totally in Frank Murkowski when he served as FM’s chief-of-staff. Manipulated campaign finances in the typical GOP way. We talked for over an hour today, and she’s asked I not make our relationship a theme of my writing unless it becomes something important on multiple levels.
and i will honor that and stop asking ya questions about it. i know you are in a difficult situation there, et, and i don’t wanna make it worse for you.
how’s the weather up there?
I’ll up you one suzanne

spidey: The video you have requested is not available.
No not edited:)
why do they do that over there? It was Bo Diddley doing Mona
the moderators felt a visit by the secret service would best be prevented by pulling the comment. TCU has been told and given an opportunity to re-write it.
let me look
this one with tom petty too?
…no, an old black & white one from way back…where do they go? to youtube heaven?
I suppose I understand that… I worded my own thought pretty carefully. But I thought it was pretty clear that TCU didn’t want that to happened, just feared it might.
A Gem, Suzanne!
try this one:

Still I think Dennis is the best pick. Because we know that McCain will attack Dennis as being too Left. But Obama can then point out that on the war and Healthcare that Dennis is closer than even Obama is to what the majority of American’s want.
McCain’s expected attack on Dennis as being too Left would force the press to compare his Lefty positions to McCain’s and the comparison to what the American people want will find McCain lacking.
Plus it would REALLY ENERGIZE US! Freeing Obama to move to the center with his official positions in the general election.
Not to mention protect Obama from Blackwater.
I don’t want Obama to move to the center. He needs to go left.
that one worked!
Plus I don’t see Dennis as left. More libertarian than lefty.
No kidding. A shot at even the hint of Progressivism in that chair is mighty appealing.
i had not thought of that.
hmmm, what are the negatives to having dennis as bo’s running mate?
I guess left is where he has to go – he needs to be more assertive about the economy, the war and GOP ineptitude.
and who would be a good vp for hc to move her towards a more progressive platform?
I agree. My biggest beef with him is all of his “present” votes.
Ok I have been edited.
Wes Clark?
But they’re both from Arkansas – sorta…
I still think we should ask Gore to be VP and devote that role to global warming and the environment.
does anyone see a vp slot for edwards?
I really like edwards for attorney general. I trust him to make a difference that needs to be made.
Could do worse.
She needs to pick Obama Hilary can lose if she pisses off African American voters now. I’m hoping that if she wins Edwards gets to be Attorney General I think he can do more good there than as Vice President.
But Obama’s need to protect himself is more important than that.
excellent points.
i agree but i think edwards could do some good working on his two america’s and other issues as vp too
but.. i would not want to be in the room with both bo and hrc and say, ok, you two are gonna be on the same ticket, decide between you who is vp and who is p.
well, perhaps as a fly on the wall (laughing) it would certainly be an interesting discussion
Part of me would love that.
And another part hopes he stays home and takes care of his family.
The problem with that, Suz, is that Hilary wouldn’t want to be upstaged. Remember when Gore had a bigger role in the start of the Clinton admin? He got some airtime, and suddenly they made him disappear.
Thanks I understand too! But I am at a loss how to word this issue which I think needs to be talked about. The stories of the Secret Service not screening people at Obama rallies scare me that they might be in on it.
Which is ironic
Did you see my cutting the cake analogy earlier?
Tell them that one can be president now for 4 years only, and the other can be VP, then run for president in 4 years.
I think your point has been clearly made.
I am open to suggestions the more Left the better the VP choice for Obama as far as I’m concerned.
those are not irrational fears. we just have to be very very careful when discussing that subject. it is a subject that we will have to learn how to talk about – just as we have done with other sensitive subjects.
i am going to wait and take my cue from jane on this subject – and when i’m tired after a primary nite is probably not the night for me to start.
yeah, attaturks upstairs and i can now rest my tired fingers.
g’nite all and thanks for hanging with me tonight
You are a courageous hero, Suzanne.
Pipe dreams. If she wins the nomination it is over. Implacable emnity. HRC is a Republican now. I might abstain in November. It is the only solution to the stranglehold that the Clinton’s now have on the party. Maybe it’s the beginning of a useful split. I don’t trust Hillary to follow through on anything she has promised in any manner.
Speaking of Obama moving to the Left, it would appear that from his recent reaction to the assault on the FARC in Ecuador, Obama is solidly imperialist and right-wing on Latin policy:
[SNIP]
Significantly, both of the candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination echoed Bush’s unconditional support for the right-wing government of Uribe and its aggression against Ecuador.
Senator Hillary Clinton, speaking Tuesday to the Spanish-language television network Telemundo, asserted that “the Colombian state has the right to defend itself against terrorist drug-trafficking organizations which have kidnapped innocent citizens, including Americans.”
She added, “In supporting the FARC, [Venezuelan President] Chavez is openly taking the side of illegal groups that are threatening Colombian democracy and the peace and security of the region.”
Taking a nearly identical position, Senator Barak Obama issued a statement declaring, “The Colombian people have suffered more than four decades at the hands of a terrorist insurgency and the Colombian government has every right to defend itself against the FARC.”
Neither of the Democrats evinced the slightest concern for the violation of Ecuador’s sovereignty, much less the suffering inflicted on the Colombian people by decades of massacres and assassinations perpetrated by the Colombian military and its allies in the right-wing paramilitary death squads.
The message was unmistakable. No matter which party wins the White House in November, Washington’s pursuit of its strategic interests in Latin America by means of aggression and provocation will continue unabated…
[END SNIP]
RGD comment: OK, so I just spent the last four years getting up to speed on the actual issues between the FARC and the Bogata govenment in Columbia and found that they follow the classical pattern. People’s movement vs. Oligarchy, with the oligarchy totally in control of the media both in Columbia and in the U.S.
Apparently Barack Obama is not quite as keen on “Si, Se Puede” activism and democratic movements as he might like us to believe. His assault on the FARC annoys me. Hillary Clinton’s attack, OTOH, is precisely what I’d expect from such an imperial aristocrat.
Oh, right, HRC would definitely have softer feelings on the FARC. A top priority of hers i’m sure.
NOT the St. Paddy’s of March, say it isn’t so!
The question is have the repugnatklaners pissed off and disgusted enough blue collar MURican voters with their stuPENdously corrupt, criminally incompetent, MURDEROUS regime and driven them into the Democratic Parties ranks to compensate for the obamazoids sitting this one out or even voting Repug? Throw into the mix the religo/wacko/MURicantalibaners sitting on their hands this election cycle. Face it, no matter WHO wins on the Dem side the supporters of the loser AIN’T gonna support the winner. So does EITHER Dem candidate bring enough uncommitted or independents to the table to win the general. Obama is just getting the first pebbles of the AVALANCHE of turds from Feces Mountain in the Rezko, NAFTA lie, etc. etc. etc. disaster as the MSM FINALLY turns the spotlight on him. Just one good attack add and ONE DAY of it cost him Texas. And that’s the kid glove add from a fellow DEMOCRAT. IMAGINE the adds the repugnantklan will run. It GAGS me to say it, but at this point I think the only hope the Dems have for a victory over John McFREAKINCain fer jeebus sakes id a Clinton/Obama ticket. Now don’t get me wrong, I think Obama is an empty suit. All the worst qualities of a politiol opportunist with no moral or ideological base outside of what’s best for Obama. But he DOES have minions of glassy eyed followers. And numbers are numbers. Edwards as AG sounds good, Gore for head of the EPA(can’t you just hear the repugs heads EXPLODING over THAT one?) Bill Clinton as Ambassador to the UN. How bout Valerie Plame as head of the CIA and Joe Willson as head of the State Dept.?
