John McCain, loves him some haters:
All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are -- were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.
Which truly explains why the most tolerant State on these matters, Vermont, has been besieged by one massive Category-5 Hurricane after another. Sad really.
Nice company you are keeping Huggy Bear.
Maybe you and Hagee can spend some time on how swell God has made Iraq since we invaded?
BAGHDAD - At least 23 people were killed and dozens were wounded Monday when two car bombs, including one driven by a suicide attacker, blew up in Baghdad, police said.
In the deadlier of the two attacks in Baghdad, a parked car bomb killed at least 21 people and wounded 43 in central Baghdad's Bab al-Mudham area. The car was parked on a road leading to the nearby Housing and Municipality Ministry, police said. The dead included one police officer, while another four were wounded. The district is a commercial area on the eastern side of the Tigris River.
You know the "at least" means the toll will surely increase.
But wait, now how much would you pay?
Another four people were killed when a suicide car bomber rammed an Iraqi army checkpoint in Ghadeer in eastern Baghdad.
Two soldiers were among the dead in that blast, which destroyed three houses and set several cars ablaze. Another 10 people were wounded.
Onward to Iran!

Good morning Attaturk.
Mornin’, Attaturk and Mr. Cbl -
Looks like lotsa folk sleeping in today. Wonder if Raven got back from his VA road trip?
Good Morning Firepups!
It’s chilly here in central Jersey, but the forecast calls for highs in the 50s today. Woohoo! A little taste of spring! And I get a bigger dose tomorrow: my sibling unit and I will be taking our annual trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show. This year’s theme: New Orleans & jazz. If you’ve never been to the Flower Show, and can get to Philly, go. It’s great fun, admission benefits the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, which runs terrific city green programs in Philadelphia’s low-income neighborhoods, and sponsors research for sustainable horticulture.
Thanks for another terrific post, Attaturk. Neither McCain nor friends like Kay Bailey Hutchinson will distance themselves from Hagee’s hate-filled rhetoric. But none of the Sabbath gasbags (thank you, Calvin Trillin, for that memorable description of the Sunday bloviations) will take Republicans to task for hate-mongering. IOKIYAR. Ugh.
Gotta run. There’s a big pot of coffee, some hot water for the tea drinkers, and bagels. Help yourselves, and keep spreading the truth!
Work for peace, every day.
well, mr. attaturk…hello from other side of the pond…
Onward to November
Good morning, pups. It’s [sigh] Kristol again, along with Cohen and Krugman. AWATT Kristol tell us how much William F. Buckley is answering for now. He says before William F. Buckley Jr., plenty of Americans had conservative inclinations and sentiments, but he created conservatism as a political and intellectual movement. And a lovely group he spawned… Mr. Cohen’s column is called “African Genocide Averted,” and he says Kenya’s remarkable power-sharing outcome can serve as a model: Call it the Nairobi paradigm or Kofi Annan’s R2P marker. Mr. Krugman’s column is titled “Deliverance or Diversion?” and he says some progressives wanted another F.D.R., yet feel that they’re getting an oratorically upgraded version of Michael Bloomberg instead.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. Have the best Monday you can. 323 days of W to go.
Good morning, Attaturk and pups.
Hugee and Hagee. How cute.
Good morning, folks. In Upstate New York this morning, it is thirty degrees and we’ve had a bit of rain this morning, so it is a little bit slick, but we too appear to be having a bit of spring today.
In Chicago it is in the low 50s, raining lightly and dropping.
Most of the ground cover snow has melted away, but the piles of that particularly unattractive urban gray sludge ice remain. Never fear, we are expecting 3-5 inches of white cover tommorrow.
I , for one am ready for Spring.
I see the NY Times has fleshed out its allegedly “liberal” OpEd folks
Rich - Doesn’t like Clinton
Krugman - Doesn’t like Obama
Dowd - Doesn’t like anybody, but is willing to kick when someone’s down
Meanwhile, Kristol & Brooks write the same column.
i’ve been in Paris since Friday morning–on my way to London this afternoon–12:30 PM Paris time–will be back in Paris tonight and will fly back to Minneapolis tomorrow…
Hope you have had a lovely trip Biodun.
yep–I was communicating all weekend with FDLers…it seems you don’t visit the Lake on weekends…or do you just lurk?
so how’s Ohio looking? I’ve been busy here with international stuff for BBC World Service–freelancing…
What up globe trottin wire stringer?
Press release
**Took liberty to edit** Good morning and sorry!
Biodun is there any chance you can get to Sarkosy and tell him to stop being a right wing nut f**k and suck up to a failing, and soon departed, bushco. What the hell is it with that man and why does he support the McBus mantra “Fewer jobs more war”. What has happened to the France I knew and loved?
don’t think you can say they’re not-liberal because they don’t like clinton or obama.
i don’t like clinton or obama.
excuse my bad temper. i’m freaking out this morning after reading this from walter pincus (my bold):
Boy oh boy these goopers are desperate to have clinton2 as the nominee
The goopers did their best to change the primary rules to support the DLC and now that the clinton woman is running on empty they want to help her change the rules ….again.
wtf are we developing OFFENSIVE cyberspace weapons for?
And now I am freaking out. Thanks:)
We are an offensive country.
I’ll take this one.
If for no other reason, because it is impossible to understand defense if you do not really understand offense.
(I have done network security for a living and still keep a hand in)
And, beleive me, Chinese offensive capabilities are awesome.
i object to you referring to senator clinton as “the clinton woman” and btw, it is non-dems who putting obama ahead of clinton.
man did i get up on the wrong side of the bed or what? really not trying to prove your point about being an offensive person in an offensive country.
maybe it’s the expected fisa cave this week that’s got me pissed. well, whatever it is, i’m off to make coffee and see if i can’t chill out before it’s time to start making phone calls this morning.
(((nomolos and pups)))
Good Morning, Attaturk and everyone. mMmm biscuits and hot chocolate :)
Unfortunately you are right nomolos, we are an offensive country. (((Selise))) if we don’t develop space weapons, Taiwan could be taken over by China and the world will come to an end.
.

May I suggest tea rather than coffee. OK I will no longer refer to her as TCW OK.
Super job yesterday Elliot
Isolated Whey Protien with skim milk and a mug of Choc. Almond Coffee to start the day. I refer to these hypocrits fer christ as the American taliban or Talibangelicals. Isn’t it sweet that McCain has found his very own crazy religo/wack job to cuddle with?

Perpetual war, either real or perceived, means perpetual profits.
The usual suspects will take many Billions of our tax dollars with more of Ronnie Raygun’s Star Wars.
thanks! it was fun.
Anyone seen any figures on how the Hagee endorsement is affecting the McCain surge?
Just curious.
In my solid Dem NW Chicago neighborhood the outliers who had Bush signs in 00 and 04 now sport shiny Ron Paul displays.
Statisticly non-representitive, but making a bit of sense for his non-Washington, pro-life until birth stances.
Forgot to add: We must stop these Starfucks.
One way to do that is to make sure Blue America candidate Alan Grayson gets elected. He’s been fighting war profiteers in court and in front of Congress.

This was interesting reading from Noam Chomsky
Good morning.
I have some croissants and 70% cacao fair trade chocolate for fake chocolate croissants. Not quite as good the real chocolate croissants, where the chocolate is baked in, however there is still chocolate involved, and isn’t that all that counts.
mMmmm
those sound really good!
Rereading my comment - the scope was ‘cyberspace’ better described as Network Security. Nothing I said applies to Space weopntry, which can be well understood from a defensive position.
Good morning everyone. ;-)
One of my readers last night on my blog made the comment that Hagee’s head is huge. I said in response, “That’s because Satan lives in it”. LOL! So true.
Good morning Attaturk, morning dawgs -
Well after two months without work I am finally gainfully employed again, so I’ll probably be going back to primarily lurk mode or the foreseeable future. Of course I’ll still be checking in form time to time, but I won’t be able to hang out here, all day, day after day, the way I have been.
As for McCain, the more he does stupid shit like this, the easier he will be to beat in November.
Congratulations! And good luck with the new position.
amen Congratulations sangemon!
Great news, Sangemon. I hope the position works out for you. I can’t even imagine a week without work. Good for you to be able to survive during those two months with it.
attaturk, you have penned what all of us wanted to when we heard these theocrats preach their bullcrap
thax for this piece
Selise, I think it’s pretty easy to assume that the Psychos shot down the satellite recently for this very reason. When will they start exploding nukes over our heads for testing? Scary times we’re living in and I put all the blame on the current White House….and the Reagan Years.
Things aren’t workin’ out so well for the Chaldean Christians in Iraq…
If you didn’t see 60 Minutes last night, well worth goin’ to the CBS News site and looking at their video re the Ohio primary, the ray guns, and the segment on the volunteer doctors in the US.
Will this be the election where those who have been voting against their interest finally turn? The guy talking about Obama in the Ohio piece [the Muslim smear he’d heard], despite his reservations, he’s leaning Obama…and he could’ve very easily been one of the people in the volunteer doctor clip desperate for medical care for his wife.
Bravo, sangemon, give ‘em heck!
An auspicious day, says the birthday girl…
Congratulations, and hope it’s a job you’ll love as much as I love mine.
Yeah Sangemon!
Now, I’m going back to bed, no school today for me - icy roads.
Bad news for the Democrats:
She wasn’t a boy, underage, or dead.
Seven deals made between Iraq & Iran yesterday:
http://www.forbes.com/markets/.....20698.html
What will Georgie say if he finds out Iran is better at forging peace and getting Iraq back on track than he is? Oh boy. I’m assuming jobs is something the Iraqis would like right now since last I heard the unemployment rate was near 60%.
(Prairie, are you saying it’s your birthday today?)
It helps us and all the Blue America candidates to make clear to anyone we ever talk to about this that it’s Republicans that have caused all this death and destruction.
Enormous amounts of death and debt are practically written into the Republican platform now, and we have history to prove that’s what they want.
So for someone to run for office as a Republican, they are saying they agree with the strategies that have led to our current times. After all, Repubs have controlled the WH and Congress for the last eight years (with the actions of Reid and Pelosi, it’s obvious Repubs still control Congress). This is just simple fact.
Better and Better Dems ‘08!
{yes, we had getaway weekend plans but the road conditions and the testosterone pickups slammin’ around and flippin’ on the ice are keepin’ us to an ordinary ol’ day)
(Happy Birthday!!)
Exactly! It’s been the Republican Laps where all the blame has fallen and I don’t care what anyone says about the Democrats (though, at times, I’d like to strangle them). They’ve been faced with power-hungry-warmongering-lying-dirty-tricksters and are trying in most cases.
I’ve been kicked off blogs because of my “Dear Party” attitude, but that’s because I don’t think of Nancy & Harry as the Poster Children of my party and refuse to give them control over it. We are the party and they are not. ;-)
Happy B’Day Prairie Sunshine.
Congrats on new job Sangemon
( *g* )
Long live the 50 State Strategy!
Well I’m a self employed freelancer, selling my talents greedily to the highest bidder, so periods of time off are to be expected. I’ve been fortunate enough (lucky, Kurt Vonnegut might say) to have been able to survive without a staff position for the past 4 years. But those cold winter months get scary when there’s no work.
Later y’all!
Rufus T. Firefly: Look at Chicolini. He sits there alone, an abject figure.
Chicolini: I abject!
The AF has been wanting this for a long time … as several others have pointed out it’s the next big gravy train. While we have some legitimate defense needs there, it’s totally irresponsible (not to mention extravagant) to develop offensive space weapons in violation of at least one and probably multiple treaties. (more GD pieces of paper I guess)
Work’s rather busy, so I’ve just been lurking… back to that now.
Woohoo!
You did good to survive. Enjoy your new job! Change is always a good thing. ;-)
Good Morning Attaturk and firedogs,
Congrats sangemon, bill ‘em Danno!
Happy Birthday Prairie Sunshine !
thank you Selise, Bush’s Brain author Slater is scary smart, am looking forward to hearing him
catch y’all upstairs
OT
I am more and more convinced that the telcom immunity deal is continue the cover up of the people in the US government involved in the events of 911.
Getting at this sort of evidence which has not been destroyed will be the smoking gun that we were not attacked by AQ and unravel the entire myth and the fact that the unthinkable has occurred in this nation. There has been a coup d’etat and those in congress are well aware that they no longer have any power. Our congressional leaders are participating in kabuki because they know enough about how far these people can, have and will go for their agenda.
They can pull the strings of the FBI, CIA, DIA, military like puppets on a string. They have packed the government with ideological sycophants, or not staffed posts to render it ineffectual at serving the people. They have engineered massive transfer of wealth from the people to the very wealthy, and taken away many of our 4th amendment rights, habeous corpus, and demonstrated that we can torture and there are those who will do it willingly. They proved that they could steal an election “legally” and that no one is able to challenge this in court or anywhere else. They have put themselves above the law, refusing to testify under oath and blocked ever effort at justice and then offering pardons or commutations to block the facts from surfacing of their involvement in 911.
It’s not just the lying based on the attacks of 911 which got us into the war. It is the fact that 911 was not what the conspiracy they told us it was and others were involved. They stalled any investigation for 14 months then tried to pack the commission with friends who would cover for them and they had all the forensic evidence removed from the crime scenes or destroyed. They have suppressed hundreds of videos taken on the day at airports which would show who boarded those planes, what actually hit the pentagon. Whenever some legal proceeding threatens to reveal a bit of their conspiracy and coup they declare “state secrets”.
They don’t have to blackmail congressional leaders. These leaders know that they have no real power anymore. What else can they do? Denounce the coup? They would be called nuts and taken away to the loony bin. Do they possess specific evidence of the coup? Maybe they don’t need it if the plotters have simply told them they did it and just play along because it can only get worse if you make too much noise. So let’s make nice and pretend we have a democracy.
Meanwhile the coup advances its agenda of world domination, or total control of the wealth and power base. They have made private armies lawful getting around Posse Comitatus to wage war on citizens inside the country.
We have had a regime change of epic proportions and that is the secret that they are constantly trying to keep under wraps while the kabuki goes on.
Wake up America.
Why are we whispering??
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Prairie Sunshine!!
And congrats, sangemon. What is the job?
The Raptya The Raptya….we must have war…end of days..
It’s interesting, I’m reading Skinny Legs and All right now and Hagee reminds me of Cherry’s uncle Buddy. So Obama gets shit from the media for Farakhan(sp?) but McCain gets a pass on Hagee? It’s that damn “liberal” media at work I suppose.
Anyways, I send warm thoughts from Singapore.
The fact of the matter is that the location of the gay pride celebration is in the French Quarter, which did not flood. It was one of the few areas that was left relatively unscathed.
Well see-It’s all bullshit. Here in Phoenix I can guarantee we would be having gay-pride parades weekly if it would bring rain. These r/w types seem to be more religeous than the average and I think that’s because they are wired to unquestioningly believe stuff without evidence. So if your view gets to them first you have them for life. Democrats were slow off the mark and we lost most of them. Now it would be like converting Islam to Judaism to get them to change. Our bad. I think I’m going to take a gay guy to lunch and see if we can get some clouds.
On VRWC and 9/11 and telecoms:
Have any Dem candidates said they would create another 9/11 Commission?
I assume the telecom spying has recorded vast amounts of information. What will happen to it? Who’s to say it hasn’t been copied numerous times and is in the hands of many people?
On Gay Pride marches and rain:
Does this mean that every day it doesn’t rain God is hoping for and encouraging marches? McCain is marching to a very different drummer. I wonder if he knows where the parade route leads.
