The Bear Creek Firepup meetup was a wee bit more laid back – more Bear Creek style and we had a blast. Things Come Undone drove down from Seattle to attend – he really was Going To California.
As always, this is Late Late Nite FDL, where off topic is the topic, so chime in.

Hey!
And Suz if you’re giving records for distance, you ought to give records for attendance too. I think Newtonusr would deserve a special recognition on that front.
Night, sleepers.
Things kicked my butt in the distance category, for sure.
totally.. i think we should make him our roving ambassador but we gotta come up with a better name
so pups, i was away from the news and the tubes all day long. did i miss anything?

*Escalation in Gaza. Ashkelon hit with missiles. Abbas has ceased negotiations with Israel.
*Medvedv elected in Russia with 110% of the vote.
*Tensions in South America rise as Venezuela and Ecuador rush troops to their borders with Columbia after a Columbian military strike in Ecuador kills FARC rebels.
*Ahmdadinejad arrives in Iraq and is showerd with flowers and sweets.

The best in late night….
He mocked Bush too. Said that it was funny to hear him lecture Iran about interference in Iraq while his(Bush’s) nation has military in Iraq from thousands of miles away.
-G
So Cheney was right about the flowers and sweets, it was just a question of to whom they would be given…
It’s all about timing.
-G
thanks nahant – i always feel weird about digging my own post – haven’t worked up the nerve to submit my own post for diggs
i am eating my Nahant Apple Pie – almost as good as my mom’s, dood! Token is eying the plate ready to pre-wash as soon as I give the signal.
Du or Siun had posted it today… To think they’d had fought a bloody eight year war, awhile back…! 8-(
Just the thing to wash down that chili…. you did eat it didn’t you?
You are tired, Suz. You replied to newtonusr, then addressed me about a comment Greg made!!!

Watch the oil prices tomorrow.
-G
You only have the one dog, right?
Sorry, I couldn’t resist a bad joke.
Oh, and Nader’s got a running mate. Guy who lost the election for Mayor of SF.
His chances are looking up.
HA! depends on whether or not goldie, token’s sister, is visiting from next door.
those are great forking names
I’m going to duck out before I get a plate thrown at me now.
Goodnight.
G’night, Greg.
And yes on the FISA showdown. Christy is having Scott Horton tomorrow afternoon for a chat.
…and Barack and Hillary are fighting over who gets to answer the phone!
g’nite busted
g’nite greg b – i don’t like to look at the gas stuff any more :(
sweet! horton gonna talk about alabama?
Been busy this week, practicing four instruments – piano, trombone, tuba and trumpet – playing in concerts, writing new music, applying for a fellowship and grinding crazy, batshit wingnuts into dust. No time to rest, though.
As TRex sez – attack, Attack ATTACK, ATTACK!!!
I like Scott’s writings, I check his spot over at Harpers several times a day…
This is his latest… http://harpers.org/archive/2008/03/hbc-90002531
Yup!
holy moly – i just took token outside to save a redwood tree and its forking cold out there. 39 and clear skies with gorgeous stars – hopefully the brrr factor wakes me up (laughing)
Thanks, nahant. It looks great, but I’ll save it for tomorrow. Good night.
g’nite loohoo
hey ET – how’s alaska tonight?
I noticed the stars also when I took Tucker out for his last duty for the evening… The stars are really looking great the air must be nice and clean and cool… stay warm..
39 degrees? I think it’s warmer than that here, Suz.
It was sunny this afternoon, and the wind died down. In the high 30’s. It got up to 74F in my greenhouse in mid-afternoon. I sat out there for a while and basked in the warmth, imagining how soon winter will be gone.
that greenhouse sounds lovely, et. the smell of warming earth, growing plants. very lovely indeed
nahant, i’m up to 3 layers (laughing)
margot, dayam, ca is colder than ohio – and there is no such thing as climate change (eyes rolling)
How do you spell idiot…B u s h
Gee thanks stupid one now Iraki are wemcoming those that USA has beeb opposing since they threw out the Shah.
How dumb can you act? Just hide and watch. Bush will take stupidity to a new level that even Frank Zappa would find mind boggling.
Can anyone think of a new word for this kind of insanity?
Global economy on the brink of collapse.
USA is fighting wars in South America by proxy allied with Columbia. Venezuela and Uraguay engaged..
Middle East is exploding out of control.
North Africa is in turmoil and blood shed.
South East Asia is in rebellion.
Corporate garage sale on Wall Street and USA real estate on the auction block as China and Suadi Royal Treasury buy us out with oil reciepts at…
$100.00 a barrell
$1,000.00 ounce gold
$4.00 a gallon gas this summer
50 million mortgages have to equity to secure them
US government spies on citizen without propoble cause
Bush Admin throws constitution in the trash
with the Bill Of Rights
Other than that there is no news at least that the media will publish…free press? Does global corporate oligarchy own us? They act like it.
Chimpy says shoulders shrugging…heh hehe heh heh
with darth cheney pulling the strings that make chimpy’s shoulders shrug
I listen to that Led Zep song and wonder what it would have been like to have the late Steve Marriott of Humble Pie as the lead singer.
Gas is already at $3.60 gal here in the Bay area…. soon no one will be able to afford to drive anywhere except back and forth to work :>(
Off to read the daily post I missed on FDL good book salon on CIA funding political orgs abd what all.
Meet up folks in Santa Cruz… congratulations on progressive bonding party
Now you are all blog brothers.
Yep. Had a hard call this morning – get 91 octane @ $413.9, or buy the cheap shit that punks my injectors… for $383.9.
$4 is in the rear view mirror.
on a fixed income, gas going up means more people gotta come see me instead of me visiting folk. i used to drive down to my mom’s in palm springs a couple times a year and have not been down to visit her in a couple of years. she has combined her trips up here to see family so she stays a night with my brother, a night with me, goes to her sister’s up in martinez, etc.
lots of people i know are cutting back and combining destinations to try to mitigate gas pump sticker shock.
ug. hit the wall – sorry pups, but i’m bailing a wee bit early tonight. thanks for hanging with me and putting up with my mistakes.
Dam this will never happen with Bush and Cheney… they owe the energy companies way too much… for Bush to go after the pornographic profits the energy companies have made off the backs of all citizens

From the Telegraph piece:
No wonder Blair admired Chimpy so much
Set a record at my place today – four new posts on Alaska progressive politics and culture.
ET – your place is only getting better.
And it’s not hard to imagine that that lone Alaska House seat as a very important keep or lose. It’s a shockwave through Gooper Central if they fall, and we should press them hard for it. Sending bucks to Diane.
Great job!
{{{{newtonusr}}}} – for the Diane Benson bucks, especially!
Thanks for the compliment. I do love to write. This place here, fdl, is where I was taught how to write about progressive poitics. I don’t think I can ever repay the debt.
I forgot to mention – Don Young is the best candidate the Democrats have right now, nationally. I hope he “stays the course.”
Don’t forget the Euro is worth twice as much vs. the dollar as when Bush took office, breaking $1.50 for the first time in history.
BTW Gas is already $4.25/gallon in San Mateo.
The janjaweed and Sudanese army are back attacking civilians in Darfur.
The talks with North Korea have collapsed because the US hasn’t supplied the promosed fuel oil.
Nobel Prize winning economist Stiglitz says that the Iraq war will cost more, in inflation-scaled dollars, than WW2 and that’s $3 TRILLION in todays dollars. He points out how the war triggered the escalating oil prices and the sub-prime mortgage crisis.
