My band The Stellar Moments and I had a great time in Brazil last week. The shows in Sao Jose dos Campos and Sao Paulo were a blast and we got to meet a lot of cool people. Rock and Roll is very big in Brazil. The fans are totally passionate and un-jaded. It’s like they’re not occupied by video games or something. Kind of like what Rock meant to people here in the 1960s or ‘70s. They shout, “I love you!!” with their outstretched arms a lot, and will wait for hours to get a glimpse or autograph from you outside of your hotel.
We got to walk around Sao Paulo a bit with our trusted guides keeping some of the sketchy street thieves away from our too obvious cameras snapping pictures of all of the amazing sites. Sadly, lots of poor people there, but Sao Paulo is a very cool looking city with 20th century Modern high rises and Colonial houses all frosted with jagged, hieroglyphic looking graffiti. My favorite things were the lime green bubble-pod phone booths all over the city. Totally Pop. But just like all touring, I wish we could’ve seen more. I’m hoping that there will be a next time.
I want to invite you all to watch a Live Webcast of my band’s set tonight at 11:30 Pacific from our record release party at Safari Sam’s in Hollywood. You can tune in, drop out, and watch us live at CASH Music:

Yo fini! (and your welcome!)
and Hi Donita!
how did it get to be Friday all ready,
but who’s complaining?
People People! I have a bone to pick with you. Why is it that every time that I’m not here (like last week), there are more comments than when I am here? WTF? I’m beginning to think that my man Finifinito is pulling an “All About Eve” trip on me. Is this thing on???
Those two got it all going on.
So they is wearin’ teh bell-bottoms in LA now, huh?
We’re so awed by your presence that we are dumbstruck.
Welcome back Donita!
I would like to thank you for my personalized copy of Transmiticate.
You fuckin’ Rock!
I am kicking back listening to it as I type.

Yeah, huh? And look-a-them shades. You got Bono’d!
Have a blast tonight!
Itwasntmeiswearit! I know, its odd, the weeks you’re on tour are the weeks when everyone shows up? WTF?

Donita, the album is rockin from start to finish!
Busted, my favorite wildman! Glad you got the disc. Hope you dig it baby.
I’ll have my peeps at CASH Music keep an eye out for your contract.
Hey Donita, the baby here really really likes your song Headcheck. Everytime I play it she just starts grooving to it.
Understandable that you are silenced by my awesomeness, however I do think that Fini is up to something fishy.
donita!
can’t wait to see you & ladydee rock tonight! i’ve got the whole CD memorized!

nora

Diggin it alright, the more I listen to it the more I love it!
Ya gotta turn it up until ya smell electrical stuff cryin’ it’s eyes out!
Hi everyone.
In response to Elliot @ 4:
My week seemed rather long. Got to get used to working again.
In response to Donita Sparks @ 5:
The regulars that got to listen to the first part of your “Transmiticate listening party” obviosuly liked it very much and recommended it to their friends. So more came here to listen to part two.
(excuse if this is a double post, the first one I submitted 5 minutes ago, but the page had frozen)
Ha! Wait a minute…. wrap around shades existed when Bono was in diapers. Call us Bono’ed if you must. We like him.
Hi Donita…
Zambeli, the photographer, talking…
The Sao Jose dos Campos Show are almost extasy! Thank´s to open time to a portrait photo… I was talking a lot with Alan an Dee about after the show (they are too so simple and nice persons!) and they enjoing the underground show. In this time is more dificult to find artists who can stay around his fans and friends so face to face! And don´t matter about the place or other things. The important is a good sound, a good feelings… In São Paulo, I went to the show too, but stay in the public area to listen, dancing and drink some beer when you played. It´s a good show too.
Came back for more intense shows an funny!
Kisses
I quit buying music back when tipper was banging the riaa drum but i dig your creative idea IRT distribution and copyright.

Thank you rhythmguitar!
I wrote about this in another thread, but will do so again, in case you might be interested. The greatest all woman band from Africa for the past four decades, Les Amazones de Guinee, perhaps the greatest all woman band in the world, and certainly one of the few remaining great, big dance bands from Africa’s popular musical heyday, have recently released their first recording in a quarter century. They show off their encyclopedic repetoire with Congolese style rumbas–old and older school, west African salsas, a Ghanian style high life, and spectacular, long Mande dance jams body and soul. As one would expect, sensational guitar interplays, solid sender saxo coros, crackling percussions–really the congas as only those Guinean percussionists can slap them. Against the pure sweet water fountain of chorus voices, vocals, especially of those by the Nightengale of Guinea, M’mah Sylla, are razor sharp, searing, sizzling, and soaring. Retours en force, Les Amazones de Guinee! Really. Check em out.
Hey, I almost forgot to say hi to Fini fini!
Hi Fini fini!
I see Donita’s name but hey, where’s the comment?
Is it just me?
;-)Snark! Hi Donita!
yoo hoo!
Young Jess
wherefore art thou?
And I really, really dig Curtains For Cathy!
The baby has good taste. Didn’t another tune lull her to sleep though? I don’t know if that’s a good sign. At least she didn’t cry (did she?)
I have to split, my oldest daughters surprise Birthday party is at 5:30 so I have to get home and clean up.
Y’all have a great weekend!
I’m pretty sure Busted said we’re all invited ;)
Diggin’ your poetry.
Donita,
tell us more about your trip, how was the weather? and the sights?
So do I. My favorite song on the album though is Creampuff.
Happy Birthday Fifteen-nuckles!
Kisses and hugs back to you Zambeli!

Link por favor? Sounds cool.
Yo fini! How goes?
Hi Margot!
Hey, Donita.. Another information: The like I told to you in soundcheck in Sao José dos Campos, the new Nick Cave CD is out next monday. Check in his official site more details. I´ts a great! In some times, I think you and Nick Cave have much in common. The music is first and ahead for yours. For this reason you are real artits.
she digs your whole cd, I forget which tune knocked her out but there is one that does the trick. Might be Curtains For Cathy.
Weather was good with only one day of rain, but we slept all that day anyway. Sao Paulo has many after hours clubs. We arrived at one of them at dawn, left at about 7:30am shrieking like vampires.
We only had a half day of sightseeing, so we walked around the city center and market areas. Lots of street life.
Fini, are you going to catch my webcast tonight? You’re a night owl. Do you think you’ll be up at 2:30 East Coast?
The recording is called Wamato. Released by Sterns Music. The cd can be sampled at their website: http://www.sternsmusic.com/disk_info/STCD1106. The wonderful world music critic Alastair Johnston also reviewed the recording at http://www.muzikifan.com. and some of their history is covered there and on the “Tradewinds” page at the Sterns site.
Amazon, appropriately has downloads, so you could sample there: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb…..#038;y=16.
Sounds really good. Thanks for the turn on.
Oh hell yeah! Jeff and Sarah are looking forward to it too. Your fan club in Indy will be in attendance online!
I’m going to Sao Paulo one day, know someone there. well at least I imagine I’ll go one day. :)
Sounds wonderful! And am looking forward to your Webcast tonight!
Hey Donita!
The show was amazing!!!
I had a great time there. You and Dee are wonderful, It was a huge pleasure to meet you. The Stellar Moments rock!
I’m hoping that there will be a next time too, ’cause next time you’ll sign my guitar =D haha
Have a great show tonight!
Love,
Victoria
mr wobbs and I have an apartment in Sao Paulo (pinheiros). Funny, I’m not a huge fan of the place (too much concrete and too many people) but it has its own personal charm.
My pleasure. I also write about African music, and this is the best thing I’ve heard so far this year; I just hope it generates enough excitement to get them to tour in the states–I want to see them.

Ooo
when I dare to get so close as to go, I will consult you for advice. :)
I try to buy the CD of Stellar Moments here in Brazil in London Calling (where you make the autographs session), but all sold out! So, I buy direct to your site and I don´t see the time to it´s arrive to me listen in high level all that´s sounds in my pool´s farm in Guara city… (a small place more hot climate than that who you filmed the Infancy clip…) Ow! in time, where´s that place of video clip of Infancy?
Great picture, Donita. Way cool. ;-)
You can get the YouTube embed of that video from donitasparks.com on the media page.
Will be glad to help :)
Hubby is brit and I”m brasilian
Hi, Donita!!!
I’m very happy for you to have liked Sao Paulo. The Brazilian fans are a lot of crazy, we love Rock’n Roll. Rock is a lifestyle, yeah!
But… I’m also sad for not having gone… Unhappily, I didn’t get to buy the aerial tickets to travel for Sao Paulo, because of here (Fortaleza) to there it’s very expensive… But I’m saving money to get to travel next time that you come to Brazil. I won’t lose your next shows! I loved the photo, you and Dee are very funny! Us, Brazilians, we’re very happy for you have come to Brazil, thanks! You rock! =D
Hi Fini…
I talk about the place who the clip make. Where´s that place? Donita´s house?
Aloha, Donita and fini! Late to the party! I’ll be watching your webcast, it’ll only be 9:30 Hawaiian time…! ;-)
Oi Jandira…
Manda o link do teu MySpace, estou doida pra ver as fotos do show *__*
Ahhh…thats a Donita question, I’m not sure where that was filmed.
Pound down some caprininhas for me!
oh yeah! caipirinhas!!!
Nossa, eu fiquei dias sem dormir direito lembrando do show e delas!
obrigada!
As fotos estão lindas, adorei! Você falou com a Donita e a Dee lá no show? Poxa, como eu queria ter ido… T.T
*rubbing eyes* Are you guys speaking Spanish? LOL! Love it.
Portuguese!!! hahaha
We’re talking about the show in São Paulo!
Aí baixei as outras e virei fã.
Bjos! o/
Hey “Sambista”!!!
Nice pic by the public telephone, aka:Orelhao LOL
I’ll talk to you soon…
