Fally Ipupa - Mabele
I don't know for sure but I like to think Fally Ipupa might translate to firedog.
Speaking of firepups, we have special news about one of our own. Long-time FDL readers will remember the contribution Tommy Yum made to the early success of Blue America. Tommy reported recently that Esten is in remission. But the Yum family still needs our firedog love.
Check out Jacqrat's post at Down With Tyranny for lots more info and how we can all help. I must say, you really don't want to miss the show tomorrow if you are anywhere near the legendary Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina.
What's on your mind tonight?

And Firedog Love..)
Dugg, Eureka!
Dugg here as well. Hi ES and pups :-)
And Firedog Love…
And who wants to put a quarter into the jukebox?
I’ve never been to France but, by golly, I’ve been to three of its border countries and paris is high on my to do list.
Nice to see you Christine. Have you been on vacation?
And oh, have you heard? The UN Dispatch thinks FDL is a popular mainstream blog:
My bold. Oh my. I wonder what Jane thinks I’ve gone done to her blog now…*g*
Hmmmm….double Diggs.
So, for us, it is all about the open air markets, and then real food.
Oh Man whats going on… Thats twice??
sry,my vibe is here.
i’m bum’d i wasn’t around for this part of fdl history.
i wanna see a high res version of that poster.
hear “Have You Had Enough?”
and give very special props and shout outs to Esten.
i’m pissed i wasn’t around then but spent good time else where.
I wonder if y’all have seen this story posted in the FDL headline box. Neil Bush visits Paraguay, perhaps to check out the progress on the Bush Crime Family extradition-proof bunker in that country. But he goes there sponsored by the Moonies? ??? What’s up with that?
Yes, I’ve been away.
My parents have relocated to an active adult community near Philadelphia. I was there for a week, now home Feb. 29. Hello all!
‘Twas an inspired time.
Sorry…
http://firedoglake.com/2008/02.....-paraguay/
i’d think it prize fr a family visit.
Rev Moon owns much more land in Paraguay than Bush. IIRC, 600k acres vs 100k. Also Moon has a lot of land and other interests in neighboring Uruguay..which also has very private banking.
Yeah, and even in the same category. Weird.
didn’t bush go down there recently?
The Bush Crime Family is outsourcing itself to Moontopia!
For many months, it seemed that some of my friends and Max Blumenthal were the only ones really getting just how outrageous John Hagee is, and how outrageous Joe Lieberman’s and John McCain’s endorsement of his positions are.
Within the past couple of days, Glenzilla has shredded all of that by comparing/contrasting it to the kerfuffel that Timmeh made over Farakahn’s praise of Obama. Wow! Now even some in the mainstream are paying attention: http://www.salon.com/opinion/g.....index.html
Kudos my friend! FDL is coming to it’s age in the MSM (did I really say that?) world!
Hi LL! Are you feeling better?
The Democratic Republic of Congo has been the name of the former Zaire since Mobutu Sese Seko was deposed in 1997.

I did notice that! Maybe NSA is just (forking with us) you know do do do do do do do.. we are in control..
hello! wtf, when push comes to shove.
I thought about that before I posted… but decided to keep the music labled as I found it, if for no other reason than to keep it’s timing in historical context..
Maybe I should have changed it.
Good luck, LL! I shall bid a fond adieu, as well…! Aloha Oe!!!
g’nite CT

Was that Teddy SanFran?
My local congressional candidate used that, and she defeated a 5-term hard core wingnut bushenabling republican incumbent.
Yeah, I had had enough…
Most excellent. I honestly don’t know how many different campaigns used the song and/or video. Would be an interesting question to ask Howie or Jacqrat.
This is by way of reply to Eureka Springs @ #57. For reasons I don’t understand, the ”reply” function doesn’t work for me.
Catholics are a very large, well organized, and ever growing minority. They tend to vote the way their bishops tell them. It is good fortune for democrats that McCain has gotten on their wrong side. But don’t count on it again.
g’nite LL
It’s not the current predominant make-up of AR Catholics..but I have often wondered how much influence will grow with so many Catholic immigrants moving into the country. And how it may hurt women and the D party.
I’m reading a book about President Truman, and interestingly enough, the Republicans’ slogan in the 1946 congressional election was Had Enough…
I think it made more sense in our case though, as what we had Had Enough of was Bushian #@%&ery…
sounds like this might get to be an interesting adventure. i googled them but couldn’t find a schedule. any ideas?
ES@74
The influence will be overwhelming and (speaking as somone raised in that religion) not good for democracy.
IIRC, that was also TSF’s inspiration. We’ll have to ask him next time he’s around.
How do these right-wing nutballs keep their heads from spinning right off their necks? The hypocrisy is absolutely stunning! Has anyone asked ‘Sweet-Potato-Head’ Russert about the McCain/Hagee endosement yet?
gotta be the kool-aid
how goes alicia
Sorry, none whatsoever. I just discovered them recently on YouTube.
whodat?
teddy, were your ears burning?
Well…it’s about time.
Whaddya say to Neuro’s question about the origins of “Had Enough?”
It was the GOP who used “Had Enough” to recapture the House in 1946 after many years in Democratic hands. Just after I started using it here, Newt Gingrich proposed it in TIME as the Democrats’ likely catchphrase for 2006. Then, Tommy made his song, and Nancy Pelosi even started saying it.
I did have a chance, one Sunday morning not soon after Gingrich’s column, to ask him at the McLean Family Restaurant, while brunching with mom, whether he read FDL and had stolen my idea. I would not put it past Newtie — he’s an equal opportunity plagiarist. But Gingrich was buried in the Washington Post, mother asked that I not “make a scene”, so I did not ask.

Had Enough?

Ahhhhh….I can rest now. Thanks.
ah oui…

Overcast, still rumbles of thunder…8:30 AM…here, still 54 F…
That’s perfect weather in my book.
time for me to bail (sigh) forking housework to do
g’nite all
BBC World Service Radio interview with my critter, Keith Ellison, coming up–they’ll ask him about how Muslim vote will/will not affect Obama. Should be interesting. I’ll report back.
Keith Ellison: I don’t think the Muslim bit will affect Obama at all…
BBC: Will the fact that Obama’s middle name is Hussein affect him?
Ellison: I don’t think so. Hussein just means handsome…
Eureka, sitting here in 58 degree NorCal, I’m afraid to ask about your weather…
Great to hear about Tommy Yum and Esten. I used to live a 15 walk from the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro when I lived in Chapel Hill in the late 90’s. ah, memories.
.
BBC: Is there an emerging Muslim vote in America? Just like the Jewish vote?
Ellison: There’s an emerging Muslim vote, still embryonic…
BBC: What issues will Muslims want candidates to address?
Ellison: civil rights, and hassles from immigration officials.
(Not surprising this last one.)
39 and clear tonight.. I am in shorts.. 70’s tomorrow and snow expected on Monday.
Boy oh boy.. I try to get excited about Obama and then I run across a reality check.
G’ nite firedogs..
Russert is a nationanl embarrarassment. Never again should he be allowed to represent the population of the U.S. at presidential debates. Their are lots of intelligent and well-informed people in this country: Bill Moyers, Juan Cole, Paul Krugman, etc. why cant we have wise, well-educated, and intelligent people moderate our national debates?
nite eureka
yep. as far as record goes, cupboard is a tad bare.
Poppy Bush went to Korea to sell them on investing in the Carlyle Group the one that invest in War related companies. It started back in the early 90’s and grew as a takeover company that did leveraged buyouts and made huge bucks on defense contracts under the two dubya administrstions thanks to the Irak and Afghanistan war.
So the Moonies and the bushes all made out…so why not have a hideaway that is a lot of land to do who knows what…operations in SA? Blackwater land and a whole lot of money soounds like the AYN Rand story Atlas Shrugged…a group of independent minded people established a community apart from any government. Seem like there is a lot of them down there. That is an area that connects East/West Amazon and is strategic and an international meeting place I remember reading. Not a vacation or retirement or escape from Impeachment. Maybe?
ES@96
Goddammit! Why’d you have to show me that? The koolaid was tasting soo goood!

Lanny Davis = concern troll?
Yeah, and he’s proud as heck about it. I guess when you’re a DLC flack and about to become completely irrelevant, you will say and do anything.
On the other hand I’m relieved to read another reminder that Obama has been enjoying something of a free ride thus far in the campaign and we are well served to learn all we can about his actual votes. I’m hoping he will receive the scrutiny of his record that Hillary is before these critical primaries next week.
I respect them both and intuit Hillary’s eight years in the White House and current term and well documented constituent popularity in the Senate trumps Obama’s brief tenure in the Senate. He is young and therefore a splendid candidate for the Oval Office by the time Hillary’s presidency - be it four years or eight years. She may or may not want to invite him on her ticket but she would never deny him a role in her administration.
NPB@103:
Lanny Davis is another of Hillary’s neocon operatives.
Double Ding!
(((((wigwam)))))
I will not get into the Clinton/Obama argument.
I will not I will not I will not I will not.
newspaperbrat - I have been curious about the link your name sends me to. Are you connected with the museum?
Sometimes are almost too weird to be true!
Neil Bush, Dubya’s little brother is attending a Moonie Leadership Seminar in PARAGUAY, the place where Dubya has bought thousands of acres of ranchland, and where one of his daughters has previously gone on vacation.
Hmm! Moonie’s have a big complex there, and the Bush Family keeps returning there? Very odd?
Neil Bush Vacations With The Moonies
And here’s a project that I hope the Moonies will put their money into, rather than their useless political efforts. They want to build a $400 billion 50-mile tunnel under the Bering Straits, connecting Alaska and Siberia! Instead of a “Bridge To Nowhere” they’ll have a tunnel to nowhere, especially when the sea-levels go up another 25 feet and the undersea distance increases by another 100 miles!
Call me pollyanna but after the last few weeks Hillary has gone through I haven’t a doubt she is in process of transforming her campaign from top to bottom and I won’t be surprised if Lanny Davis gets the boot or so marginalized he will be just a footnote in this historic campaign.
She needs to get rid of Penn and Icckles too.
I continue to serve on the Board of Directors of the Stowitts Museum & Library and am curator emeritus of the permanent collection. I am currently completing a biography on Stowitts, (American 1892-1953). He was an honors graduate of UC Berkely 1915 and threw over graduate studies at Harvard when Russian prima ballerina Anna Pavlova invited him to join her ballet russe, not to be confused with the Diaghilev troupe. He went from the back of the corps de ballet in 5 months to become her partner, and created many ballets during their 6-year association. His surviving collections of paintings still hold museum attendance records at some American and European museums.
Ok, so I have searched the site, and nowhere does it tell me where the museum is.
Nebraska?
Berkley?
Eventually, I will use the google before I make my comments…
If I make it to Pacific Grove, I will be sure to stop in!
Cinnamonape @ 108 - Did you notice the land dubya has bought up sits on top of one of the worlds largest freshwater aquifer?
And is it a coincidence the gov of Paraguay in 2005 passed a law that gives US troops immunity “from national and International Criminal Court (ICC) jurisdiction.” ?
Full conspiracy theory here.
(I just never get tired of pimping that story)
