There are a few themes developing that should be called out now for what they are.
First, the racist junk that right-wing radio. blogs, and conservative interest groups are going to throw out. That somehow a black candidate secretly hates; whites, Jews, Christians, latinos, asians, old people, veterans, rich people, middle class people, corporations, and especially ducks.
And while this is happening, John McCain will just talk about how terrible this stuff is but he can’t stop it; and the media tut tuts it 24/7. And yet FoxNews and Howie Kurtz will keep having these same people on their shows and in their columns and treat them like the respectible contributor to the public discourse they believe them to be.
Good ol’ John McCain! Poor John McCain. Damn, that black guy should stop being so black*, it’s not fair to John McCain.
But another insidious meme is developing. It is not that the candidate is so extreme, no it’s something else. Something about as bad.
On Monday, who else but Bill Kristol started this little trick by stating this:
[Obama] wanted to explain that he was too good — too patriotic! — to wear a flag pin on his chest.
The whole column has one theme, that Barack Obama thinks he is better than you.
And then Tuesday in the Washington Post, America’s "divining Rod of Wankery" Richard Cohen chimed in:
Obama is nearly as good as he thinks he is.
And now Gail Collins comes forward today and says:
…people here worry that Barack Obama is getting show-offy
I believe the word all of you are thinking, but not typing, is…
U-P-P-I-T-Y
Let’s just get it out in the open and call it for the racist bullcrap it is.
Thank you.

Good Morning Attaturk
It’s actually not just a race card. Remember, Al Gore supposedly thought he was better than us, too.
Anyone that runs for this office HAS to think he or she is better than us. Christ, they teach that in high school civics!
They keep making up new code words. I’ll never keep up.
It’s ironic because Bill Kristol knowns he is better than us
I meant
Bill Kristol knows he is better than us
We need African American and Spanish Language radio to start telling their listeners what the GOP is saying. The GOP’s secret plan has always been to rally their base with hate quietly.
At least that was the plan until the last election when we got control of the House and Senate I wonder what happened to message control?
Wait now I remember “Macaca”
The GOP has keep the hate message secret so they can present its self as reasonable to suburban voters. They have to keep the hate message secret from minorities.
They blew it last time lets keep up the pressure. Racist attacks on Obama
are going to do more to get our vote out than another $50 million in TV ads.
*substitute “woman” as necessary
Seems to me the implication here is that any criticism of any person of color or female `is racist and or sexist?
“By their deeds you shall know them” and what does the Bible say about trees that won’t bear fruit being set on fire?
Bush and the Neocons have never had an idea bear fruit yet!
I’ve noticed that too. It’s converging with the new line of attack, “we in the media have been unduly soft on Obama.”
Marshall has more.
And it looks like Philadelphia’s John Baer got the memo.
The racists will continue their rants unless and until the listeners and readers start hammering the advertisers. And I mean hammering. Write letters. Write little signs to tape to products in stores. Make a spectacle of yourself berating the manufacturer while in the store. Dealing directly with the likes of Rush Limpdick will get us about as far as watching paint dry.
It’s not that they’re smarter or better, they’ve had better opportunities than most is all.
Mornin’, Raven.

Was John McCrazy really born in the US?
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02…..ref=slogin
One of my blog readers and I had this conversation behind the scenes recently and I thought because McCain was born to a military couple he would be considered American, especially if born on a military base. Oh boy.
billy boy kristol needs to be laughed at whenever he opens his mouth
every single prediction he’s made has not only been wrong, it’s been brutally irresponsible causing death in the 100’s of thousands
he’s a joke and that’s the way obama should respond;
“bill krystol?…you are sighting the most inept opologist for this administration as some kind of source?
you can’t be serious, come back when you want to quote someone that has a clue”
No, it’s meant that there have been sexist attacks on Clinton.
And no, attacks on candidates are fine — but using stereotypes to attack them is wrong.
K, I think it’s a lofty goal to get people to do this but I’m all for it. Now, where is that old right wing warmongering fighter pilot!
It seems that the younger generation who go to Obama rallies is a lot less racist than my generation is. These racist attacks will turn a whole new crop of young voters away from the GOP for a generation.
The future is looking very good.
From the General: X Degrees of Tim Russert
the race card from here on end…with an Obama who wasn’t born in contiguous US…*g*
Raven–got ya in Facebook…and responded…
Kristol’s days as a commentator are numbered. He’s got to be careful, or he’ll get an invitation to appear on Oprah and do some ’splain’in. The Reactionary Right are grasping for straws from a burning haystack. Everything they pick up burns them a bit more. They bring out retread 1950s anti-commuknist screeds, and nobody knows what they are talking about, much less cares. The ‘uppity black’ meme isn’t working because of a quarter century of television and film shows depicting blacks as people in all their depth and complexity. That’s why McCain is telling the thugs to back off. He knows it’s toxic.
The rethugs are going to end up like the Royalists in France after the Orleanist Revolution of 1830. They are going to retreat to their estates and gated communities, bitch like crazy, and try to maintain their isolated social world. But they will no longer matter like they’ve mattered for the past 50 years.
That somehow a black candidate secretly hates; whites, Jews, Christians, latinos, asians, old people, veterans, rich people, middle class people, corporations, and especially ducks.
Sounds like the GOP is projecting its own values and fears on to other people again. They lack empathy and don’t want to understand others. They assume that everybody thinks the way that they do and would be like them if only we could.
Ingroupers have to think that way otherwise they can’t justify giving up their own originality to belong to their current in group.
However projecting their values on a foreign culture like Iraq and twisting the Intel to reflect their own bias might be the root cause of all their mistakes.
From one unchallenged flawed assumption grew a disaster!
Tony Powell on Imus this morning gives a smackdown to Republican racial code campaign tactics:
“Change is Comin’” and Republicans “Got to Change Your Evil Ways.”
I wonder if the GOP realizes that with Obama being “cool” that a whole generation of ingroupers who should be GOP voters will follow the herd and vote Dem?
With good government we can keep them. With a plan we can change society and create less of them in the future.
To do this we need less fear and more equally shared sacrifice.
The Mighty Starboard Wurlitzer is in a general panic.
1. Obama’s appeal to the 18-25 year old demo.
2. After cheering on The Last Dumb White President for the past 8 years, a little pigment is starting to look good to a much broader demographic.
February 28, 2008
THE Iraq war has cost the US 50-60 times more than the Bush administration predicted and was a central cause of the sub-prime banking crisis threatening the world economy, according to Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz.
The former World Bank vice-president yesterday said the war had, so far, cost the US something like $US3trillion ($3.3 trillion) compared with the $US50-$US60-billion predicted in 2003.

there’s a discussion now on the Supreme Court case with Exxon ON CSPAN
I’m headed for that part of the world later today. I’ll be sure to take notes…*g*
The MSM are very frightened. The status quo and their place in the political pecking order is being threatened. Make no mistake the MSM will do all in their power to insure a Republican victory in November. Print media and certainly broadcast media has been so complicit and corrupted that they have to support the status quo. The MSM has morphed into the Soviet model of journalism. Not only is is necessary to get rid of the Republicans but it’s necessary to have a paradigm shift of the MSM.
Yes that is why I keep arguing that we need Hilary to keep fighting the MSM concern trolls keep saying she should give up for the good of the party.
No they are afraid of Obama giving more victory speeches on TV and getting even more momentum.
Funny you should go back to Amos and Andy today. The racism of that era is entirely disgusting and it really does look like we’re headed right back there with the attacks the rethugs are coming up with.
I referred to Vaudeville-level comedy this morning, also, but without the racism undertones when I discussed yesterday’s White House briefing on FISA, where, I swear I am not making this up, the briefing ended with one of the press saying “We’ll cover your ass”. Click on my name for the post.
Safe journey, safe return
The owners of the MSM might prefer a republican in the WH, but they also have something else to think about, however.
Progressives, liberals, democrats, Obama-voters, and Clinton-voters are all media consumers. If there’s a big democratic wave building toward this fall, do you really think that the MSM is going to try to piss off their consumers? There’s a recession on (or coming, depending on who you believe), especially in the media — and they’re going to be fighting for eyeballs with every DFH blogger out there, to keep their income up and their jobs intact.
So, is the MSM going to count on Big (GOP) Government to bail them out and protect them, or are they going to dig in to the media marketplace and compete on the truth?
Its the Obama camapign that has begun the race-baiting. I’m sorry, but I saw it when the SC primary began and all the pundits, media and yes, Obama surrogates began spewing that Bill Clinton had made disparaging racial comments. That was a lie. The “fairly tale” stuff was about Obama’s war votes. Kennedy sited those comments specifically as Clinton race-baiting. That was a lie. The media took all this and ran with it. Obama’s campaign took it and used it to full advantage, all the while hurting our party and re-writing history just like the Republican slime machine had hoped.
Is that France or Boca Raton?

Bullshit, and when Fat Dog said, “hell even Jesse Jackson won this sate”. Nice try.
Erm, many blacks are indeed homophobic, but the neocon chickenhawk wankers and wankees would never call Obama on that one. After all, there’s the highly dependable gay marriage card to play in the general election in November.
la France profonde…
like clockwork
Even on fucking NPR this morning.
They play a tape of McFlake’s diatribe against Obama yesterday, but only allowed the newsreader’s summary of Obama’s retort.
Bill Clinton compared the Obama SC win to Jesse Jackson’s win.
List the things said and provide a link.
Yeah! there is no way to spin that comment as nice!
merci bien, mon ami de Irlande
March 5 will be the beginning of a brand of evil we’ve yet seen in this campaign. Brace yourselves. It will turn your stomach.

Get out!
The ONLY way to play the story is to play both clips!!
You should be more careful of what you put in “quotes”, as in what Clinton ACTUALLY said. I agree with glenn mcgahee, the racism card was pushed by the Obama campaign surrogates. That’s kind of why Obama admitted it in a debate moderated by Russert.
Oh goody.
Wisdom from the chimp. I will be sure to start drinking early.
positive…what else? brief us about his African safari?
I don’t recall Obama admitting to pushing the racism card. Can anyone provide an exact quote from the recent debate?
I think the slurs are trying to set Obama apart from the “common man”. Everyone is free to interpret them in their own frame. For some, this chatter will be taken as that “uppity negro”, for others he’ll be an “elitist” like John Kerry, or a “show-off” like Al Gore. A multipurpose slam. As long as he can be defined as “not like me” it’ll work.
I agree that the subject is something to be alert too. It seems like a modification of the right wing attack on “elitists”. However, I think if you read the whole Gail Collins article, the quotation actually makes fun of the mundane tastes of Ohioans, who she points out produced eight presidents, the most exciting of whom was William McKinley.
Edwin Friedman wrote a book on family systems titled “Generation to Generation.” It applies to political systems as well. One of the most salient points in Friedman’s tome is this:
To date, Obama has mastered that. He needs to continue.
Yesterday, Juan Cole wrote a brilliant piece about naming that digs deeply but respectfully into the matter of racism. Read it, please.
‘Turk – Gail Collins is not racist – that was several bridges too far. She’s maybe the best columnist they currently have over there, along with Krugman and Kristof. And she’s actually a feminist, unlike the heinous MoDo.
Why does the left insist that every criticism of Obama is racist? Blech!
Bon Voyage! Lucky You!
Great Obama is a racist is this the new GOP talking point. Is this going to be their excuse for everything that we know they will say in the future?
Is anybody buying this? Get some links! get some quotes!
You do not throw bombs here unless you can back them up.
It can be drawn from real life, unfortunately. There is a long history of division among blacks, based on color which in turn has been based upon socioeconomic status in a white-dominated society.
yeah — they did the same thing last night on ATC … airtime for mcbushain (who sounded awful) and summary of obama response… just too predictable
Bon voyage, amuse-toi bien, pas trop de vin et de foie gras…
I thought that he might model some authentic tribal garb from his African trip? Wouldn’t that be fun?
I think it is important to continually point out that those folks who are beginning the smear campaign on Sen. Obama and the Democrats are the same folks that brought us George W. Bush. This should eliminate any sort of punditry or expertise from those folks. How can they have any credibility left? Can we get the MSM to begin to question their judgement?
Behold leader of the free world.
Obama is demonstrably “better” than Kristol, Cohen or Collins. These people (Kristol in particular) have done nothing to raise the level of discourse in this country, and now they’re getting all pissy about someone who seeks to improve things.
A pox on their houses.
Yea, why is that, you gonna give me a bad grade?
On NewsHour, they showed McCain and then Obama’s comeback. No comparison! More like that Obama, please, more!
He does not look good in blue.
I refuse to wear a flag pin so long as any Republic wears one.
Beautiful! Looks like our fate was sealed with that handshake.
thx for the juan cole pointer … fun read.
take that John Sydney McCain III !
That’s kind of why Obama admitted it in a debate moderated by Russert.
reply Can you give me that reference in APA style please?
Oh, there you go, being all political. *g*
I’ve stopped wearing anything with lapels. Too bad Senator Obama can’t do the same. *sigh*
Well, Obama can immunize himself against this particular criticism if he’ll buy himself a mesquite filled lot out west, a chain saw, and wear a big heavy homemade plywood flag on his lapels.
Ya gotta have lapels for that little pin that proves you’re a bona fide American patriot, honey.
Herr Bu$hler is not likely to discuss the ulterior aims of American military presence northern and western Africa — Africom
What’s really unfortunate is that Republics are trying to make the election about wearing lapel ornaments or other nonsensical issues.
Glenn just put up a post that is related, covering the fundie extremists and their support of rethugs. Good reading.

Said Bill Clinton today in Columbia, SC: “Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in ‘84 and ‘88. Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here.”
This was in response to a question from ABC News’ David Wright about it taking “two Clintons to beat” Obama. Jackson had not been mentioned.
Boy, I can’t understand why anyone would think the Clintons are running a race-baiting campaign to paint Obama as “the black candidate.
Now, just like with Bill Cunningham at the Mc Cain rally with his barrage of “Hussein” you can say, oh he’s just using his middle name. It has nothing to do with tone, inflection, or context does it?
What is “APA style” please?
Well, if you listended to Matthews and Buchannon yesterday, they both essentially agreed the McCain would have to maintain the loyalty of people who will vote based on someone’s middle name as well as gain the approval of those who have some portion of a frontal lobe.
Here’s some good old Republican patriotism for you…
No, No, No! None of you understand anything. Don’t you see it is actually BHO who is playing the race card and plunging our pristine political culture into an eternal night of mendacity and cynicism. If you don’t believe me, just check out Sean Wilentz in the New Republic.
http://www.tnr.com/politics/st…..c6c268b304
Now I see, its really Obama that is orchestrating all this….
Ugh, what is it about this race that makes mostly sane people write this stuff? We’ll have enough real race card arguments from the right without playing these games amongst ourselves. Please let this primary be over soon!
Associated Press style manual, I think, though I missed the comment that originated this question.
APA (American Psychological Association) is most commonly used to cite sources within the social sciences. This resource, revised according to the 5th edition of the APA manual, offers examples for the general format of APA research papers, in-text citations, endnotes/footnotes, and the reference page.
it was a joke
Why does the Right insist that any criticism of Israel is anti-semitism?
It was wise-ass Raven being cute about being called out for a misquote.
I heard that little twit, *ucker Carlson, on Moanin’ Schmoe this a.m. say that the Obama camp shouldn’t attack McBatshitCrazySaint on Iraq because McCain will win that battle everytime. Yeah riiiight, *ucker! Nice try dipshit!
IT is interesting that the religious card of being maybe a secret Muslim keeps getting played. His father was from the Luo Tribe of Kenya which is western Kenya near Lake Victoria. When I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya from ‘79-’81 I travelled at times to the area and it is a very Christian region. Northeastern and eastern Kenya has large Muslim populations and Christians and Hindus too.
Now it seems to me that when the Saudi Royals show up in Crawford, Bush holds their hands so maybe he is a secret Muslim too.
The point I am tring to make here is that the racist code words used by folks, the religious jingoism at play here are all part of the fear and hate retoric of people who have nothing legitimate to argue their points with. This usually is related to racial fears but hell guys like Bill Kristol hate the common man on the street because they consider them beneath them. Sometimes we scoff at “rednecks” for sticking to the guns and God issues because they vote against their own economic interests. People are entitled to vote that way.
What if you are a mop top who wears only Nehru jackets? I don’t have any lapels in my wardrobe, so I guess I’m up the spout as far as the patriotic flag pin nazis are concerned.
Here is an anti-Obama YouTube of the Obama/Russert exchange. I could not find one that just included the questions and answers by Russert/Obama.
I will proudly wear the flag pin as soon as they stop wiping their ass with the constitution.
Oh Oh I Know! It’s because of their “narrative” and their “meme” and their “Kabuki”. Did I leave any buzzwords out?
Oopsy. My bad.
The link didn’t take.
priceless!
Wear one on your ass. That should solve everything. :)
I am having to deal with the APA joke on a journal article I am working on with another person.
I just happen to think that when you use quotes around words, that should mean that the words actually came out of someones mouth. Not too much to ask for…
Yuppers. And related to that, I’d really like to see Obama stress his background as a teacher of constitutional law.
Crap! Can someone help me out on how to post a YouTube here?
For “some” that would take the flag that covers Yankee Stadium before the World Series (if that ever happens agan).
” Differentiate yourself and maintain a non-anxious presence. “
succinctly characterizes his Cleveland performance now don’t it ?
and thanks for the Professor Cole link ;)
He’s irrelevant.
Whenever I see an Old Glory Lapel Pin, I consider purchasing a firearm.
What McCain win a battle. Well as long as its about and not in Iraq maybe?
Ah who am I kidding? GAS is $3.39 a gallon in Seattle it went up again! I can’t believe that we are winning in in Iraq when the price of gas keeps going up.
“Yea, copy the URL, write whatever the topic is in the text box, highlight it and then mash the link icon above. Paste the URL in the pop-up box and mash OK. Then submit.”

me
Steve Inski on NPR just interviewed the head of the Southern Baptist Church re Obama. The latter described the Dem Prez race:
“Hillary’s campaigning like she’s on a job interview. Obama’s campaigning like he’s on a DATE.”
That from the head of a church whose congregations still abhor inter-racial dating at their colleges and elsewhere…
Thanks for conjuring up that visual in my head.
It would certainly lend the ass a certain whatsit.
MSM is beginning to turn against Obama. It is subtle but it is there. They think they’ve already put Hillary away so watch the fawning turn into clawing.
Obviously they aren’t interested in digging into the lobbying issues surrounding McCain. They’ve already thrown that one over the fence. It’s all sound bites and yak, yak, yak of opinions instead of facts.
HA! That is a special comment right there! Love it!
That’s sounds about right.
Agreed.
ET, did you see the exxon press conference in front of the supreme courthouse?
Heading out, y’all. Shopping for a suit with a hundred lapels. Ya got super delegates and ya got super patriots. Woo hoo!!
People really see the MSM as some giant entity huh? Just like Bill Cunningham and his attack on ABC (All About Clinton) NBC (Nothing But Clinton) and whatever the fuck else he said.
It’s getting rougher by the day for us ants, isn’t it?
Try this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQY_9ZcsjpQ
re: passports and visas: practical info for FDLers…
US passport: no visa needed for: all of European Union (EU) zone; Australia; Hong Kong…need visa for everywhere else
UK passport: no visa needed for EU zone; Hong Kong; Australia; Malaysia…and all so-called Commonwealth countries…need visa for everywhere else
French passport: no visa needed for: EU zone; all Francophone African countries…need visa for everywhere else.
Bonus info: Visas required for any passport (except of course Chinese (duh)…
Uh, yeah!
Dear Leader is very happy you’re shopping. Lapels or not…spend, spend, spend. *g*
Be safe.
The consumers of the MSM have no place to go. They are a captive audience and they can be pissed off by they won’t be flooding the net for their news and entertainment.
The MSM needs to be chopped up and sold off and not to cross board interlocking directorships with corporate america.
You mean Exxon’s press conference itself? There were oodles of press conferences around the court case yesterday, including one held by my good friend, Talis Colberg, the Alaska AG.
BTW: I have all these three passports, so I know of what I speak…*g*
no one needs to tell us something we know and have known.
That proves everything. Now when Obama wins I’ll vote for McCain. jesus
Abrams pointed this out last night in a discussion with Rep. Jack Kingston from Georgia. Kingston admitted that is is silly yet the conservatives are going to keep raising it because it “Gets such a rise out of the liberal”. No, it takes the focus off of the issues which they will lose on. Remember Jane’s tactic: Pivot and attack.
I meant to say:
For China: visa needed for all passports…
ThingsComeUndone February 28th, 2008 at 5:08 am
We need African American and Spanish Language radio to start telling their listeners what the GOP is saying.
They know already.
Reminder: Chimpy presser at 10 AM ET
about lapels:
Sam Seder has been sitting in for Randi all week and you can watch him on his Sammi-cam. He wears a flag lapel pin on his tee shirt. Its about 12″ x8″. Very visible LOL
Yea, so the right says it’s controlled by the left and the left says it’s controlled by the right. And we all hate the idea of the middle. Hmmmm, sounds like bullshit to me.
There is a Bush presser scheduled in a few minutes for 10 AM ET this morning. He is expected that if we don’t give immunity to the telecoms we will let us all die. He is also likely to declare that if we don’t support his Iraq policy we will all die. Probably the same on the economy.
Isn’t it amazing how all the Villagers, regardless of professed political stance, seem to be cribbing from the same script?
And then they wonder why we hate them.
Looking at my 141, I think I need to get a few calories in me before commenting anymore.
oh sorry, the one I saw was with the plaintiff’s lawyers and a few fishermen. The venerable older attorney and the young one, Jeff Fisher. The emotion expressed, it was wrenching.
Sounds like the aptly named Mr. Fisher was a natural in front of the court
(And I’m just not sure what nina totenberg was wearing.I guess it was a coat.)
LOL! Well, at least ya know!
Exactly. That’s what Obama’s been doing, and it’s been working even when it’s dishonestly reported.
For example: NPR this morning reported John Sidney McCain III’s hissy kabuki over Al-Qaeda in Iraq, but they also reported Obama’s immediate response, which was that there WAS no “Al-Qaeda in Iraq” until AFTER Bush invaded.
Pivot and attack, pivot and attack. Rapid Response, James Carville’s best idea.
Bull, unless you have met every black person and have conducted a survey on their feelings and perceptions about homosexuality, you can’t use the word most, got it? Few things get my hackles up more than overgeneralizing a group of people (pssst women, latinos, asians, blacks, gays, etc. are not monoliths)
a friend sent me this:

but the msm and republicans are
monolthic
The Origin of al Qaeda in Iraq.
A ragtag team of Sunni militants in Falluja decide to call themselves “al Qaeda in Iraq”. That should confuse the shit out of the US.
(paraphrasing Margaret Carlson)
good thing you didn’t use any quotation marks!
BAWAHAHAHAH!
Thank you for saying what you said. I saw Gail Collins’ column title this morning and without having the stomach to read the article added her to my long list of news media scum. Tim Russert is on the top of the list.
You are exactly right — this will be the central theme of the 2008 campaign. The second theme will be John McCain heroically now and again calling down a few of the openly racist slurs that emerge every day from the Republican party and media apparatus — slurs that he full well knmows will come and is more than aware are what it will take to elect him by assuring a big turnout from the 20 percent or so of Americans who remain unreconstructed racists. His heroic pronouncements will be amplified by the more soft-spoken Republican hacks like Russert and Broder. The plan is in place and being fine tuned with polling and focus groups so they know who is supposed to say what — who gets to smear away and who gets to praise McCain for distancing himself so courageously.
Uhhh….no.
Natch.
Missus Carlson only employs the term shit when describing Mr. Carlson.
It’s nothing new. It’s what passes for State News Service and has been that way for ages. There has been much consolidation thanks to the emergence of private equity firms, vertical integration, thanks to deregulated steaks and radio bands and intramarket ownership. But the corporativist nature of mass media has had a long presence. Darth Vader didn’t invetn it. The deregulation of the airwaves and print ownership began in earnest on Bill Clinton’s watch.
Are we ready to be really scared? Shrubacula is about to try one more time on NPR…
Meanwhile,
When John McCain literally flies in to HUG a religious minister that says God wants us to bomb Iran until the rubble bounces AND glows is not a thing to be questioned.
I’m sure Tim Russert feels this is only a problem for black men.

Good one…THX!

No more pressers, please, President Goofball.
No one is listening.
No sch*iss.
Think there’ll be a single substantive question with followup or just Bushie reciting his talking points as usual….
I don’t expect much from them but I do from ‘normal’ folks *g* Sorry, this is the area in which I am conducting my research and generalizations just piss me off
excellent post. thanks.
Bush talking
From the Swamp:
lol. you’re typing has gotten almost as bad as mine.
But, dammit, pressers make him relevant!
station?
I could liveblog…unless some one wants to do it or team effort–the latter is best
Brilliant!
No, they don’t. But they are good entertainment.
Bush talking about how his AIDS aid is saving lives in Africa. Not so much about how he actually asked for a decrease in spending or how ineffective his abstinence programs have been.
The Right Wing is really stupid to broach this subject of racism. It will cause everyone who has faced racism to rally around Obama … on second thought, keep it up Kristol & Co …
Chimpy: I’d like, I’d like…pompous ass..
But I don’t have to watch (or listen) to know he ain’t sayin’ anything…
It doesn’t take much.
He’s got the whole Texas thang gwan on tahday.
Bush currently on NPR but should be on CSPAN 3.
News is mostly reports from “official” government sources.
Occasionally you get the unattributed government source who leaks a “story” to spin public opinion.
We have no real reporting of “facts” just what the government is telling us.
Pathetic.
LOL … my sentiments exactly …
…protect private companies from these abusive lawsuits…
There are a few of us here whom should NEVER be allowed to live blog anything. I think you people know you are. :)
[raising hand]
MSNBC and CNN as well.
Not granting immunity to telecoms for their lawbreaking would be “unfair”. Same old same old. Give immunity or die.
…the law expired, the threat to America did not expire…
It’s completely about saving his Telecom buddies.
Oh Bush is flat out lying. He stated that FISA did not allow US to track Foreign to Foreign communications.
Hey, the more the merrier. The good news, you all are watching and commenting so I don’t have to.
…no matter what happens opponents of the war have one answer, retreat…
Here’s a quarter mr. bush, go buy yourself a new talking point.
what does immunity have to do with terra?
“The law expired, but the threat has not expired”. Uhm, George that has been debunked already by Clarke and his buddies.
…congressional leaders are sounding the same old call fro withdrawal…
who are some others?
Fund Iraq. Don’t tie the generals’ hands. Things are going great in Iraq. Lots of extremists killed. Political reconciliation all over the place.
It there is so much progress then why can’t the troops come home?
How I wish Poppy and Bar had indulged in strict abstinence…….
The world would be spared another supreme warmonger/dic()tator.
Now he’s begging for immunity for the telecom felons/traitors.
Isn’t it as much about saving his own hide?
Don’t do that to me, Bio!
Questions now.
Congress needs to help homeowners to fix the disaster that Bush’s housing bubble created.
thanks – local npr isn’t carrying it (not that i blame them). streaming on c-span3 now.
Thank you Attaturk!
Um … me … kinda hard to liveblog, being as I’m not in front of a teevee an’ all … *g*
are you afraid that the sagging economy will sink mccain the way it did your dad?
put money on the table?
…we have to invest in business to create the jobs…
…the checks are going out in the first week in May….
Let them eat cash…
angie! have been missing you!
…we have to encourage consumers….
So did your fucking up of the economy screw McCain’s chances just like what happened with your old man?
potus: what i’m dealing with is the situation at hand…
If he was Pinocchio, his nose would be a bridge across America …
Any of you think that Bush is displaying his true knowledge of Fisa, and he really believes the lies he’s saying about it. Is he so isolated, and his advisers are just making him say whatever fits their propaganda???
q: on turkey’s invasion of iraq.
potus: the turks, the kurds, the iraqis share a common enemy in the pkk
Shorter Bush … do as I say or we(Neocons) are in real trouble …
that mother forker(Suze) just as soon we all be BOND SLAVES
potus: the turkish invasion should not be long lasting, they should do what they need to do and get out.
Turkey in Iraq? (If things are going so well in Iraq, why did the Turks invade?)
Incursion must be limited and temporary. Go in accomplish objectives and then leave. You know sort of like us in Iraq.
it is A BIG RED WC Fiels nose at that loooookie
http://images.huffingtonpost.c…..-large.jpg
FIELDS!
He should call his friend Bob Lutz to dispute Global Warming, thereby rehashing all the lies in one presser …
potus: it’s in our interest to continue to have relations with russia
Reporter mentions Putin and elicits one of Bush’s trademark grunts, the kind he gets when he knows he’s been nailed.
LOL
He’s blinking a lot.
Mods:
Keep live-blog here or migrate with it upstairs?
Kosovo!
[Mod note; Traditionally, live-blogging of a topic that differs from the current post has been done on a previous thread.]
David Gregory is a self-inflated tool.
Stumbling around in his answer about Russia. It appears we have no Russia policy at the moment. With Condi Rice at State and being a Russia expert, this is hardly a surprise.
potus: i’m not going to have a personal relationship with kim-jung-il
… pants on fire …
We have had “some diplomatic head butts”. All this technical language goes beyond me.
… because Lieberman would feel betrayed …
Uhhh…yup??
LOL … wanna bet no reporter mentions this in a follow up ?
Bush talks about Obama and al Qaeda comments but doesn’t address his point that there was no al Qaeda in Iraq before Bush’s invasion.
Question: Are you telling Americans to suck it up about the loss of their privacy?
Bush: Well I wouldn’t want to say that in public.
Let me reach for my thesarus.
“America’s civil liberties are well-protected.”
Bwahahahahahaha.
—————–
listen these people make millions spewing their hash, you wanna have to start training new LIARS for PEACE?/
q: are you just telling the public that when it comes to their privacy they should just suck it up?
potus: american’s civil rights are being respected.
you can not expect phone cos to participate if they fear they are going to be sued. it was legal and now i suspect that lawyers see a financial gravy train and want to sue.
Chimpy’s really gettin’ worked up now.
What a fucking sack of shit our president is.
It’s fucking infuriating to listen to him just stand up there and lie like a fucking rug.
Sorry, pardon my language, I couldn’t help it just now.
“scrutinized by the United States Congress”
You’re killin’ me here.
Bush is comming unglued, pounding his fist. He’s a loose cannon. This is just freaky.
Technical language goes beyond me too.
Is an asshat something to be worn on a head butt?
There wasn’t al Qaede in Iraq until Murtha pointed out that al Qeada wasn’t in Iraq and troops needn’t be there.
potus: my judgement happens to be the will of the people
(me: just another “wtf?” moment in listening to my president and the leader of the free world)
I think you worded it perfectly!
im so proud to be American when i hear this dumbass, hey SMU…posterity calss
Fran Townsend your counterterrorism expert left but you have named no perrmanent replacement. What does that say about your commitment to the WOT? Acting head doing fine. Won’t answer the question.
FDL live-blog seems to be in good and capable hands…Gotta get ready for Paris, France
BTW, I’ll be online from there…wifi hot spots.
(Mods:Watch out for this one…*g*
The Methodists just died a little.
this 11 months will feel like forever
I’m jealous.
Bush talking up NAFTA. If NAFTA is doing so well, why do we have so many undocumented workers in the country?
bush: those of us who grew up in texas…
Bon Voyage, Biodun !
LOL … he is incapable of speaking the truth …
HATE you.
have a great time! *g*
Safe travels!
If we treat people in a country one way, then we expect to be treated the same way. He’s talking trade but you have to wonder about how this would work with Iraq.
Gotta get ready for Paris, France
HATE you.
have a great time! *g*
Ditto!
Stephanie has a question on air,
“Should we pour hot coffee on our genitals or listen to the preznit live some more?”
Who was the hack reporter that asked such a suckup question on wiretapping (What kind of politics are the Democrats playing?) that even Bush backtracked from it?
Laura is standing back stage with a box of firecrackers and frogs to help him relax a bit, after his finger shaking and scolding.
q: on fisa do you worry that some house leaders are playing a game of high stakes poker? if we get attacked everyone loses. and if we don’t then the risk wasn’t so great.
a: i don’t think they are that cynical. i think they are really wrestling with the issue of immunity.
(me: who the fuck asked that question? he succeeded in making bush sound reasonable – wow)
“no renewal of the Protect America Act is dangerous for this country”
You idiot! You are the one who said you would veto an extension!
Nice f(r)ag pin the potus is wearing– such a patriot.
(hey selise!!!)
Gannon is there ?!!
For him, this is a definition, not a perception.
Oh the irony– ‘the Castro bros have imprisoned people because of their beliefs……..’
GAK.
my question too – i’m only listening and have no clue.
“status of the office”
Sorry, Chimpy. That was gone a long time ago.
Talking with countries with whom we disagree (Cuba)? You mean embracing tyrants?
typical strawman black and white universe.
Talking to is embracing. Wait a minute, choose different word. Sitting down with a tyrant like Raul Castro confers legitimacy on him. It embraces him. So he really can’t get away from the word.
No mention of how unsuccessful this strategy has been.
potus: it can send confusion about our foreign policy
Do you think Obama was being naive? WTF
q: on iraq – what do you mean by sustainability?
potus: keep enough troops there to suceed.
potus: i understand the power of the veto and plan to continue to use it.
It was a Faux News gossip-bot.
The patronizing laughs from the press, when he throws his lame jokes and come-backs, makes me ill.
Iraqi veto of provincial elections Bush sees as a positive sign because he likes to veto stuff too. Beyond idiocy. When Iraqis scuttle moves toward a political settlement, that’s good. When they do stuff for such a settlement, then that’s good too. So it’s always good if you are an Iraqi.
potus: i’m still for a strong dollar
He hasn’t heard that gas is going to $4.
Where has he been? Oh right, Africa.
extremly high paid LAZY prostitutes
$4 gas? Answer: Make tax cuts permanent! Bush’s default answer for anything.
…make the tax cuts permanent…
He hadn’t heard about the forcast of $4.00 a gallaon gas this spring!? Even a hillbilly like me knew that!!! He really is isolated!
perhaps a corollary to it’s always good news for republicans?
ok …I HATE HIS SORRY ASS
potus: i’m concerned about the uncertainty
Find oil here at home. There isn’t much even with ANWAR. For the short term. Such development would not be short term. Just blathering as usual.
No, asswipe, we don’t need to find new sources of oil, we have to find new sources of energy.
welcome aboard
What an arrogant fucking jerk.
He didn’t know about gas prices but then just says he has been focused on gas prices. Lying sack of.
shorter bush = more $ needs to go to oil industry.
He says he talks about Dahfoor. What’s that? /s
If the price of corn wins, the terraiststs win see.
Question: Mr. Bush, how much would you pay for energy if the wind blew free?
potus: we need to be exploring for more oil and gas, if the money goes to the oil companies they will have more to invest.
Question: You said that oil companies didn’t need more incentives.
Oil companies need money to explore. They are raising prices at a time of high prices. Well yes they are and getting away with it too. And a couple of minutes ago he didn’t know about $4 gas.
I am a big supporter of our goofy ethanol program.
Bush bails. Idiocy over.
potus: the way i analyze this bill….
(i don’t even need to know what comes next to know this is a big lie)
Ok, it’s over, I’m off this thread.
thanks for the company.
no way i can listen to bush without the moral support.
the translation is handy too.
Herr Bu$hler: Tort, schmort.
you seem to be ignoring the drug dealing comment which was the beginning of the Clinton campaigns attempt to paint Obama as just another “black candidate”.
But, as a black man, it doesn’t surprise me when others respond to racist dog whistles the way they’re supposed to.
And don’t forget his evil wife. Heard a bit on Hannity’s radio show last night (I apologize, car radio tuned to the station in expectation that our NBA team would be on), and in addition to full Farrakhan, Trinity Church, Kaddaffi mode, from what I can make out it appears they also were going on about his radical wife and what she wrote in her thesis (which I can only presume was her senior thesis at Princeton, which would make it what, 25 years ago?).
Read this
“A review of what actually happened shows that the charges that the Clintons played the “race card” were not simply false; they were deliberately manufactured by the Obama camp and trumpeted by a credulous and/or compliant press corps in order to strip away her once formidable majority among black voters and to outrage affluent, college-educated white liberals as well as college students.”
http://www.tnr.com/politics/st…..c6c268b304
Yeah and remember that racist point of view that Hillary won in New Hampshire because the yokels from New Hampshire were racists because they said they would vote for the black guy but then when they got inot the voting booth their racists demons overwhelmed them they called it the Bradely effect in honor of Tom Bradely who was the black mayor form L.A. who ran for governor and was ahed in polls up to the last minute but the lost…..oops that racist card was played by the Obama camp…never mind!
Correct!
Here ya go it runs both ways…only in this case an entire State of voters were called racist because the Black guy lost the vote.
And so it goes
