Buddy Miles. A great musician.
Aw, Darn – two interesting musicians in the same day. My son learned rock drumming from a Buddy Miles VHS tape.
RIP Buddy. If I had not ducked, I wudda had one of his drumsticks when he was playing with Jimi in 1969 – the Oakland Arena concert. I don’t remember much about that show but I do remember that :)
Rock on
I dugg this for Buddy.
I don’t recollect ever seeing Buddy solo..Only with Carlos Santana.

The town was all a-flutter with news today about Hillary at the branch university, Obama in Columbus, and Mrs. Huckabee showed up to eat at a local Italian restaurant. Very very good food there, I hear.

With the power of soul… anything is possible…
RIP, Buddy…
Bill Buckley. I was here for Jane’s morning post, driving home during the late night one. i’m working on a fellowship app, so have to be sorta brief.
They played snippets of him on harpsichord, playing JS Bach on NPR today. He was fairly good. Not as good as me before I crushed the thumb-half of my left hand in 1981, but good.
I met him twice. I’ve talked about one of those times here a few times since 2005. We talked about how different JS Bach’s use of the left hand in his keyboard writing was than every composer before Bach and 90% of those after him. Buckley’s theories about what that meant now elude me, but we enjoyed agreeing on how amazing that particular thing was.
I liked his spy books, thought his sailing books sucked. I would have liked to have talked to him about Tristan Jones’s sailing books had we met later.
i’ll be listening to this for the next almost 10 minutes… ya’ll be good to each other while i’m busy being enthralled
Someone else died too?
I had no idea earlier today when punaise posted a Buckley song..which I thoroughly enjoyed twice.. his passing was today.
oops.
Jeffrey Scott Buckley (November 17, 1966 – May 29, 1997)
This Iraq song by Buckley never showed up during our protest song fest in December..

Thanks, ES! I almost forgot this song…which I knew so well in my youth. Really appreciate the reminder!

Dr. David Ray Griffin was on NPR tonight explaining how irresponsible Bushco was by ketting 911 happen when he had a lot of intelligence warning them (Richard Clarke CIA professional and many others)that an attack was imminent they ignored the warning he says.
The link above is to his website That was an hour radio broadcast as is further evidence that Bush/Cheney should be impeached. Reda the e-mail obstruction of justice at emptywheel.
Electric Flag was a great new group
Totally Off Topic, but ya know, we are at risk, and doomed, if we pursue our present course of politics, business, and militaristic interventionism. The USA is doomed, and we WILL fracture like the USSR did.
Economy is in the toilet, and gonna get worse. MUCH worse. In CA, and thruout the nation.
BoyKing and Shooter are MORE than likely gonna pull something, and put us all into lockdown and martial law, and well, WILL we have elections, in November?
Firepups tell me . . LOVE to hear why we WILL have elections, and no martial law.
Here’s 3 linky’s to prove it’s TWUE, IT’S TWUE, all the bad things facing us, that FDL and the so called progressive blogs just don’t wanna face or tawk about, no mo . . .

And I’d smack most of ya up the side of the head with the songs and experiences and times and story’s of U. Utah Phillips, who now is slowly dying, and could use some money from yer donations to defray medical expenses.
Just google Utah Phillips . . . find his website, read his sitch. He’s an AmeriKan Hero. Icon. Leader.
He’s just up the road from this Larue, I get talk with him once a year at the KVMR Picnic (not this year) .
Utah is THE front person for We The People, the masses, the working people.

hey spidey
Got online just a little while ago–what’s the bit with Larue (the street)?
spidey, what do the planets hold for the ides of march politically?
Larue – commenter, activist, grumpy Progressive.
So it’s just the two of us then?
Thanks!
Since Vietnam I have been protesting wars…nobody wins. Jimmy said at the end of the song he was dedicating to the soldiers…’Isabella’ Who sends young folks to war…the old folks. May have been happy times that then. Sad that Jimmy Hendrix died.
Three of us–one unacknowledged…*g*
What days are the Ides?
je crois que punaise est allee s’endormir…
from wiki:
who’s the 3rd?
Wow, The Pete Seeger special is awesome, with Joan Baez, Arlo, Mary, Bob Dylan… Incredible…! *g*
Well the 15th of March is the first quarter moon and the day is loaded with aspects. Moon in Cancer and no less than 8 major aspects and the planet Mercury enters Pisces joining the Sun & Uranus & Venus. Plenty crowded.
There are two of us here now.
So, is it beware the Ides of March…? Et Tu? ;-)
What we want to watch is the 7th of March when Pluto Squares Mars making for an enormously agressive day. In January when they last squared, there was saber rattling for attacking Iran. What for a repeat.
thanks spidey.
…oops, that’s watch for a repeat
On the Ides, moon aspects almost every planet but by midafternoon things will get all soft and squigly when Mercury enters the sign of pisces. My take is that it will be an emotional day running the gamut.
Might be a good day to smoke two joints, eh?
Seeger is singing ‘Bring’em Home’ now! Resonates today…!
Heh, like I need a reason…! ;-)
One episode of Law & Order had a character quoting Rimbaud: “et tu? As Rimbaud would say: C’est tout!”
I love that song (laughing)
Il y en a trois ici…
that depends on your perspective
quoi donc? Vous me parlez?
comme dit De Nero en Taxi Driver…
We are alll asleep…waiting for enlightenment.
I don’t post in order so am not in the conversation so much…enjoy your trip I went there in 77′ for a dtudy abroad from U of Oregon in German and studies school boy French at the Alliance Francaise. I like Francaise but my hearing impedes…mostly the liason is like a light song…sans Paris…where it is fast and harder… C’est a dire
if the shoe fits, eh?

we’ll miss buddy
Buddy played a festival that was so raw that it wasn’t planned until days before it started. Thousands showed up, walking over hills, around the roads where the police would block all access. One generator, a stage, A PA, and a lot of bands. Buddy came to a gathering that turned in to something wonderful. Laguna Beach/Irvine cerca 1972. Them Changes.
Way late
Buddy Miles-thanks
I used to walk by his motorcycle where he parked it in Sausalito. American Flag on the gas tank.
I highly recommend this album
Buddy Miles Tribute To Jimi Hendrix(Angel Air)
