Are the intraparty squabbles driving you to despair? Want a break from yet another post where John McCain rubs up against a person like your creepy uncle?
Well, then this post is for you -- this post brings you news you can use.
Ladies and gentlemen, Washington's New Power Couple, Lord and Lady Missionary Position:
Monica Marie Goodling, of Alexandria, is engaged to be married to Michael Krempasky, of Falls Church. The wedding is planned for later this year.
The future bride, a consultant, previously served as senior counsel to Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and White House liaison at the U.S. Department of Justice. She graduated cum laude from Messiah College and received J.D. and M.A. degrees from Regent University.
Mr. Krempasky is a senior vice president at Edelman, a full-service, global public relations firm. He is also a founder of RedState, a leading conservative blog.
And we thought Jenna's wedding was the event of the season?
I hope there's a good locksmith in D.C. -- and someone to explain how everything works to the happy couple. Just think of the years and years of conversation they can have about how terrible white people have had it in this country.
I'd like to thank Jane for the information.

Morning, Attaturk!
I had to lower the brightness on my monitor. That is one pale twosome. Suggestion for the happy couple on their honeymoon…SUNBLOCK…and lots of it!
Talk about marching to music:
North Koreans are also marching to the music of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra this morning, ET and CT….From BBC News (Auntie or the Beeb):
You can just see in their smiles….”We’re gonna have sex finally, on our wedding day. Isn’t that neat?!? I’ve heard that’s fun. Hopefully we’ll figure it out!”
They are good Christians after all.
Dracula Strength SUNBLOCK, if you please, we are Republican after all. ;-)
HA! You’re already “on it.” (need to read posts more closely before commenting…)
Caption: “I can’t wait to serve his subpoena!”
Link…
Overheard outside the bridalsuite: “Hallelujah!!! Will you take my testimony?”
Just think of the years and years of conversation they can have about how terrible white people have had it in this country.
At least they will always have somebody to blame for all their troubles. Being Rich and White is such a burden. Being involved in RedState I sure that her husband will have the same career prospects as any Republican would just before FDR became President. And Assuming that we don’t pass German laws about spreading hate on the Net.
And I’m sure that none of the Mom’s will ever make fun of Monica for being blond and saying I don’t know so often in testimony. Assuming that she keeps her law license.
Glenn Beck just told Steve Inskeep on NPR’s Morning Edition that he’s a recovering alchie…Did anyone know this? I didn’t…Story not posted yet, so no linky…(just have to trust me…*g*)
How are you this morning?
You know why I’m asking, don’t you? *g*
Rev. Ted Haggard s available to perform the ceremony I hear. Wasn’t he a favorite at the White House for getting the
Christianer hypocrite vote out for Bush?http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15536263/
Cause I over did the Yerba yesterday and went on a spree of writing?

“Then during a trip to Paris, he took me to a sex club in Paris, without telling me where we were going. I told him I thought it was out of his system. I told him he had promised me we would never go. People were having sex everywhere. I cried, I was physically ill. Respondent became very upset with me, and said it was not a ‘turn on’ for me to cry.”

Remember Honey that when you marry a political man everything you both do both good and bad will be in the newspapers sooner or later:)
I heard Gershwin was on the program, probably American in Paris (so they wouldn’t have to ship a piano). Here’s youtube Rhapsody in Blue with Bernstein conducting from the piano at Royal Albert Hall.

Hey,
How do cheap shots like this: “Ladies and gentlemen, Washington’s New Power Couple, Lord and Lady Missionary Position” move our politics forward.
This is the kind of unfunny stuff you can see on the reichblogs. Petty it is, amusing it ain’t.
When I recommend FDL to people, I hope this is not the first thing they see.
Joel Mael
It is petty goddamn amusing.
You go to the Beeb this time as well? I’m working there right now, online of course (where else? *g*–that’s why I get up early, usually at 2 AM CT…
Yo raven–whassup?
Dem debate tonight–can’t wait (seriously) Curious about what Hillary will do…as Keith asked last night: Which Hillary are we gonna see? Good question…
I just got up too! Only to be frightened by the news about about the wedding.
Bush is against Science using eggs to help people. But what about when people abuse their eggs with inbreeding?
G.W never says anything about that although his grandparents did course, G.W is just the kind of mistake his Grandparents tried to stop.

Good morning folks!!A match made in hell for indeed.
I think I’ve found the biggest pile of vomit ever to be passed off as an article about Senator Obama by a character named Spengler from the Asia Times Online. It was pointed out to me on another blog and I just couldn’t resist the temptation. Perhaps I’ll learn my lesson someday. It would be interesting to find out who this Spengler character is. Anyways here’s the link for those who dare. My apologies for OT post.

Jennifer Flowers is fixin to released audio tapes of her conversations with Big Dod according to Imus.

Gennifer Flowers to auction off The Tapes with Bill
This just in and what a real coincidence!
Just in time to ride the wave of publicity from tonight’s Democratic primary debate in Cleveland, the last one before the decisive March 4 votes and, who knows, perhaps the last one period:
Gennifer Flowers has re-emerged. She’s trying for a comeback too, it seems.
Once she was the other woman from Bill Clinton’s past. Now, she’s just another one of those women. But she’s made an announcement that’s important for her financial future. Flowers has decided to sell….
the tapes of the telephone conversations she secretly recorded with then-Gov. Clinton during their long relationship. You may recall back in 1992 the about-to-be president denied having an intimate relationship with Flowers.
But, oops, she called a news conference and played part of one of the tapes as convincing evidence. One can only imagine what else is on those tapes about shopping lists, the stock market and the dry cleaners. Those preserved phone conversations all came before Monica and what’s-her-name and the other one with the big hair.
If she listens to Mark Penn she will go negative and provide the GOP cover for every negative attack they use against Obama. It will be the but Hilary said equally mean things defense.
Or she could disavow NAFTA admit that she was wrong and point out that here Healthcare plan is better than Obama’s.
I hope for the second choice.

“It is pretty goddam amusing.”
Well… maybe more amusin’ than watchin; yer beard grow er clippin’ yer toenails but really folks, this ain’t funny it’s pathetic. Things get pretty strung out this early in the AM.
KEEP THE FAITH…NOW WATCHIN’ ALL THE FUCKIN’ NAZIS JUMPIN’ SHIP AND TAKIN’ THE LIFEJACKETS WITH ‘EM…THAT’S FUNNY!@!
Mr. Krempasky has a buddy in the business at Edelman. Washington Times columnist, former Newt Gingrich toady and all-around jerk Tony Blankly (SP?), also works for Edelman. Seriously, nothing good can come out of that.
I think if Gennifer Flowers releases the tapes it will help Hilary. Especially if Tweety and the rest of the MSM decides to play the tapes over and over again.
Remember New Hampshire it was going for Obama until Tweety and the Press pissed off all the independent voters by playing that tape of Hilary crying over and over again before election day.
The “Tweety Effect should not be underestimated
” as ” Pam Spaulding nails it, calling it “‘The Tweety Effect,’ where the misogyny of a talking head in the MSM so enrages a demographic that they go out and vote in a manner that will put egg on the face of the talking head.”

Screw it, I’m gonna walk the dogs and when I get back I expect a topic that will “move our politics forward”. Who the hell do you people think you are?
I develop online courses, and it’s an EdD lest I get swiftboated.
Yep–she’ll carry OH (surprise there: what about all those OH college towns?–Obama’s base…we’ll see); but Obama will carry TX for sure…

Hey I throw in a joke and I bring up the methhead GOP preacher Rev. Ted Haggard, I throw in another joke and I mention Jack Ryan EX GOP candidate for Governor of Illinois sex club fan and family values man. I mention Bush’s stand on egg research and his grandfathers ties to the Eugenics movement.
Ok the jokes could be better but I am trying to introduce new readers at the Lake to the many scandals of the GOP I know that for regular readers this is all old news but it is not old news to the new people. I remember the first time I heard this stuff its what got me interested in politics.
Every now and then it is good to review old material.
Now if you want to rag on the quality of my jokes fine:)
Now what do you do? It probably has to do with ideas and writing–and politics. Correct?
I think Hilary is thinking it worked once and well hey she is desperate. I don’t think that it will work either but I’m sure that her advisors are secretly hopping that the tapes will come out and that Tweety goes nuts with the rewind button.

Well of course you can’t attack Obama personally people will think that your a racist, especially all the non white voters. But the polls do show that the American people want more than either of our candidates are offering on the war they want it over now and not in November.
Plus they can’t understand why the 9/11 volunteers in the film “Sicko” by Michael Moore had to go to Cuba to get treated. Neither Hlary or Obama’s plan goes far enough in my opinion to get us where Cuba is let alone France on Healthcare.
Politics provide people with what they want. Hilary could have gone more Left but its to late. Instead she choose to keep the Corporations and the 30%ers who hate her happy.
If Obama wants to win by a bigger margin he needs to go further Left too!
FWIW
Mrs Mack has taken a real dislike to Hil.
This is a recent development - she was inclined to vote for her as little as 3 months ago, took a shine to Obama, but never rejected Hil until the past couple weeks.
Says she is reminded of a spoiled child.
Hil is digging herself a hold - that venom would have been better used earlier on the current administration.
Good morning, pups. It’s Bobo and Herbert today. Bobo tells us all about the “real” McCain, and says that any decent person who looks at John McCain’s record sees that while he has faltered at times, he has also battled concentrated power more doggedly than any other legislator. How special. Little Billy Kristol frets about our souls and Bobo implies that if we point out his hypocrisy we’re indecent. Gotta love it. Mr. Herbert writes about “A Driving Force,” and says that frustrated with the pace of progressive change in the United States, Ralph Nader did what he once said he would never do: run for president. Just what we need. Another Harold Stassen.

I heard either last night or this morning on the news that Chris Dodd is going to come out in support of Obama. True? Nice, if so. ;-)
I’d guess that those inclined to vote for Nader learned their lesson 2000 and the intervening years since.
Good morning Attaturk and FDLers.

bye till tmr a.m.
I kept trying to persuade her with the benefits to herself of going Left on the issues. But you summed it up ” she jest drives a stake through the heart of her own career” by attacking Obama. I should have appealed to her fears as well as her hopes at the same time.
I totally overlooked the fact that Hilary cannot go negative on Obama’s cult of personalty. Once you become a true movement a few negative insults won’t stop you. Hilary never had a chance.
America has not seen this kind of thing in my lifetime. Certain people will be very scared once they put down their “math ” books and look at the real numbers.
Sorry to delay responding, was out to the shop for the pan. I reside in Spain, this is morning hours. I try to get real news from BBC, The Guardian, or through Reuters, and FDL News Services and links for the arcane US political stuff.
That’s really neat, ain’t it?
Was it Hilary going negative on Obama that did it? Or was it Hilary crying? Sure I mentioned the Tweety effect earlier but my sister lost it when she heard Hilary cried on TV she does not like showing weakness.
I wonder how many other women felt the same way as my sister?
You and him both Dude!
MSNBC all over the Obama robe row–implying that Clinton’s camp is to blame…
My wife teaches small children.
She doen’t like when politicians behave like her worst pupils.
She really doesn’t like it.
She disliked W from day one.
To be fair - MSNBC is negative on the Clinton camp for anything - deserved or otherwise.
Interesting–whereabouts in Spain? I’ve been to Madrid, Barcelona, Lerida, Seville, and Granada–took the train in from France…
Wise Woman!
The robe pic could have the unintended consequence of strengthening support from those who don’t think Obama ‘black enough’.
The Obama campaign seems to be doing a pretty good job of treating the jabs with dignity. We may only be about a week away from the end of the primary and beginning of the need to unify. He seems to be treating it with a sort of “it’s irritating, but I understand that the best of people can go through difficult periods when they are not themselves,” attitude.
You have no idea.
Beck has said this many times to print and on the air. I never watch the show, and rarely watch CNN, but clips of it have been shown on other networks. What I’ve always thought is that he construes “recovering alky” to mean that he is slowly weaning himself a cc at a time while on the air.
Northern Spain, Cantabria, much like beloved Ireland except a lot lot drier. Picos de Europa are to the west.

I thought it was F#@%$n’ funny. You all need to lighten up.
Here somethin’ that might work: Diebold lets one slip!
“I’m very curious about which Hillary will show up tonight.”
Timmah better hope it isn’t Super Hillary wearing her Pantsuit of Death that shoots icy death from her frozen glance.
What a nice “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” presumption to take into a debate from Russert — invaluably lame as ever.
bwahahahaha
And don’t forget to read the crawls:
Nation Of Andorra Not In Africa, Shocked U.S. State Dept. Reports
There is a big conflict between the political advisers who want to keep the big corporate donors happy and what the American people want. Sooner or later Obama has to realize that we little people are not only giving cash but that this really is a change election.
People are coming out to vote not only because of the war.
McCain, Mitt, Rudy etc never raised as much money as Hilary let alone Obama despite their obvious attraction to corporate America for a reason…US!
Absolutely hysterical. The Onion has definitely found its best medium. I just hope it’s not true. Don’t miss this one. Thanks, LouCostello.
The political advisers are still fighting the last war where big corporate cash ruled and Howard Dean was crushed by fake media concern because he raised his voice. The Netroots are a lot stronger now. Voter anger at the war the economy, healthcare, high gas prices, high food prices, a declining dollar, a lousy stockmarket etc needs to be addressed.
Obama will still win with Center positions but he can win by a lot more if he addresses those issues. He can put people to sleep if the GOP points out that his positions are not that far from their own except for the war.
We need to keep people motivated.
Ok, can we get back to saving the world now?
I’ve been laughing since I saw that. Here’s one right on ‘topic’:
Number 1 Most Important Issue For 2008 Voters…BULLSHIT!
mornin’ pups
Senator Dodd endorses Obama, Amy Walters (on Washington Journal) wondered aloud if Dodd is on the short list for VP.
Hmmm
This one to way too true, I’m afraid.
Yeah, TCU, $36 million in ONE MONTH’S time, for Obama. I shake my head at that–it boggles the mind that candidates think nothing of raising and spending that kind of money!
I can only wonder what the poor of this country, the ones still suffering in Louisiana, and the homeless think of such waste. Priorities certainly are skewed.
NAFTA’s now back in the debate.
On MSNBC:
Hillary can’t run away from NAFTA, as she’s now trying to do via her supporter. Bubba’s twwo-term admin is marked by NAFTA. That’s the Big Dawg’s signature. Hill can’t have it both ways. Can’t both use Bill and run away from him at the same time.
Here’s my FDL piece not too long ago on NAFTA…
Now OH has lost a lot of jobs because of NAFTA. Hill might well OH, in spite of the double-digit leas she now has over Obama…
Hill might well lose OH,
Good morning. Yesterday, while looking at the 2nd Siegleman thread, I thought you had a question about delays in general, and specifically his appeal. I clarified what is going on (because many people confused delays in the appeal of the conviction with delays in the granting of an appeal bond.
I responded to your link of an article on the appeals here.
I also outlined the context of the Order last issued by the Eleventh Circuit on November 7, 2007 and Judge Fuller’s delaying and poorly written memoranda opinions here and Christy had asked about the transcript and I covered it here and finally here.
Here’s the quick version. Ekahn asked about what the lawyers for Siegelman are doing? They’re on top of things–he has two very experienced guys as you would imagine.
There was no problem with the transcript. The article you linked had its heart in the right place but was confused. I don’t think they were familiar with the appeals bond process or the appeal procedure from district court to the Eleventh Circuit.
The court reporter did die; he was replaced and the new court reporter did write Chief Judge Lanier Anderson and got an extension to 3/31. None of the transcript is missing. The transcript’s completion has nothing to do with Siegelman’s release while waiting for the appeal. The motion for his release was made in June 2007, and Fuller took his time issuing the denial with a memorandum opinion that was very poorly written and reasoned. This was immediately appealed to the Eleventh Circuit. They were not happy with Fuller’s reasoning, and they remanded the appeal bond decision to him and requested another more complete opinion. Fuller (amazing to me) balked. The Eleventh Circuit again ordered him to draft/craft an opinion and he responded taking his time again in months with another 30 page opinion which was equally pathetic.
After that, the Eleventh Circuit ordered the defense and the prosecution to file briefs in 30 days from November 7, 2007. Since then, the ball has been in the Eleventh Circuit’s court. Two judges on the Eleventh Circuit, Black appointed by George Bush the father, and Marcus appointed by Clinton, will make that decision.
I don’t yet have copies of the motions filed by Franklin, acting US Attorney on the case and Siegelman’s attorneys, but later today, I’ll look for them and link them.
Here’s my guess for what it’s worth. It was rare for a white collar defendant not to get an appeal bond but it happens. What nearly always happens in the Eleventh Circuit ever since Section II of The Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 is that the Eleventh Circuit adopts the decision of the district court trial judge.
This time, the Eleventh Circuit has shown they weren’t satisfied with the ruling by Fuller, and I doubt they were thrilled by his defiant refusal at first to enhance his opinion. This is extremely rare in the Eleventh Circuit. I think they’ll grant him an appeal bond and overrule the District Court. Had I been deciding, I would have expedited the requirement for briefing in November, but 30 days is pretty standard. There is a case that is precedent in the Eleventh Circuit that you always have to argue in a motion for appeal bond, and that case is United States v. Giancola, 754 F.2d 898 (11th Cir. 1985). You also always argue pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 1343(b)(1)(A)that your client is not a flight risk nor a danger to the community.
I am further predicting that given the circumstances, the Eleventh Circuit has a decent chance of doing something extremely rare and reversing this conviction or more likely, they could remand for a new trial. I know prosecutorial misconduct all the way up to Rove, probably Cheney, his attorney Addington, Gonzales, and Miers and some for current Whiete House Counsel Fielding has probably gone on, but it’s not going to be part of this appeal by rules although it may impact a decision in ways that will never be written.
One thing to remember: The clock on the appeal of the conviction doesn’t start ticking until Siegleman’s lawyers file their first appellate brief. That is an important brief and it may take them time to write even beyond the time the transcript will be available. In fact, if they filed their brief this morning, they could ask for leave to amend it with the transcript later under the circumstances. The Eleventh Circuit as I explained in detail in the links averages 18 months from filing to decision. In one absurd instance, I saw them take 3 years to issue a 3 paged opinion–and I’m not kidding.
Also only 17.5% of Eleventh Circuit cases even get an oral argument and later get published. They are first screened by staff attorneys at the Eleventh Circuit, and the ones that don’t make the cut are simply dispatched with 2-3 sentence and sometimes one sentence per curiam opinions. This case will probably get oral argument.
I hope this has helped.

Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Hey folks…I’ve been meanin’ ta throw this out there for some time now but has anyone tried ta stir Jane and Christy up about maybe gettin’ a “Yearly Lake” get tagether on the sixth month opposite the Yearly Kos? I think that Las Vegas would be a good place ta stage it…it’s cheap and central to most transportation.
I think “The Lake” has matured to the point that we could turn a little corner of Vegas out and I think it would be great ta “see” folks and maybe live blog the event .
Waddiya think Firepups…is it an idea er what?
KEEP THE FAITH…I’M GETTIN’ TOO OLD TA WAIT MUCH LONGER FER ANYTHING!!
PetePierce, thanks very much for your obvious hard work digging out information on this issue and for this update. It’s people like you that make FDL one of the premier blogs for staying abreast of current events.

Kafka would be proud.
I am an excellent locksmith. Let me do it. PLEASE. Pretty Please. I’ll be gentle. Blech!
Remember, don’t bunch up. one grenade could get us all!
Thanks. I’ll take a look at it. While this case has epic proportions because it’s manipulation goes probably to the VP and there is a horrible trend in this administration to try to prosecute the people who are running against your candidtate, believe me prosecutorial misconduct of serious proportions and DOJ are not strangers. I’ve seen plenty of it.
Should be
Yes, thank you for the research.
Correction. This case probably goes to the White House becaus White House Counsel Gonzales, Miers, and now Fielding and their staffs are very probably involved.
Having read the Eleventh Circuit’s order with sleep under my belt (always helps) I realize that on November 7, 2007 that in that order they required that the trial court Judge Fuller who at first declined to issue another opinion when ordered by the Eleventh Circuit do so. They then allowed Siegelman’s attorneys and the government to file briefs of no more than 30 pages and reply briefs to those of no more than 15 pages, but did not place time limits on them. Siegleman’s attorney filed a brief on February 19, 2008. I expect the government to follow with a brief soon although they have no time limit. I don’t know at this time whether Siegelman’s attorney filed the origional brief in response to the Eleventh Circuit’s order on February 19, 2007 or the reply brief. I will try to find out.
