Fine. But, how could someone that decent and smart have ever been a Goldwater/Nixon Republican in the first place. And, please understand, I don’t say that by way of condemnation of John. He has been a hero of mine since he first opened his mouth at the Watergate hearings. And, I asked myself that same question then, i.e., in 1973 or so. Shit! I’m talking about 35 years ago. But it’s still a mystery to me.

My favorite from the whole night: Marion Cotillard, and in honor of her fine work in La Vie en Rose, here is another original Piaf: Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien.

Cotillard was also fun to watch in the Russel Crowe vehicle, A Good Year, 2006.
