Great cartoon!
Can some of the folks who run this blog learn a bit of basic biology? If you do, you’ll learn that Kirk James Murphy doesn’t have a clue, and makes it easier for people to discount the other 98% of stuff here that’s honest and good.

Wow, I’m up late. Lost track of the time.
Love the cartoon.
smokey, if you have a disagreement with a front pager on a previous post, we ask that you keep it there and not bring it up here.
thanks nahant
I love the earthquake pills bit. a conversation with a friend earlier in the week about quakes made me think of this cartoon – totally cracks me up when he sees the does not work on roadrunners line.
Oh, dear. Coyote catches the Roadrunner…:(
Sahra & I will be there Suz – still working on the facebook thingy. ;~)

Obama Accuses McCain Aides of Running Lobbying Businesses From Campaign Bus
way kewl, npb. i enjoyed meeting sahra the non-blogger last time and look forward to see you both!
how are you npb?
Cracking up here, Suzanne…I’ve spent hours the last two days copying VHS tapes of Looney Tunes onto DVD…couldn’t believe it when I saw your cartoon.
Hmm. But my exes said size doesn’t matter.
Hey – has anyone seen my field microscope?
Good for him. This story must stay front and center. Maybe Obama is a savvy politician.
Man accused of stealing 7-year-old’s ID (AP)
from Yahoo! News
AP – Police in a Chicago suburb say the Internal Revenue Service has told a 7-year-old boy he owes back taxes on $60,000 because someone else has been using the youngster’s identity to collect wages and unemployment benefits.
rond, they are all over the utubes. the hardest decision is picking one – there are so many good toons.
don’t look here for help – i gave up measuring when i kept flunking 6″
I know-the hardest part is trying to think of the search terms that will find what you’re looking for.

Goodnight TexBetsy-all of my best.

yeap – same thing when looking for songs for the other nights i’m hosting. i get lost in the time machine called utube.com
Here in my itty bitty county (about 15 yrs ago) a criminal had it in for the county sheriff so he (somehow) mailed to the IRS a Form W-9 stating that the sheriff had received like $50,000 in untaxed income. When the IRS people came to the Sheriff’s home to discuss the matter, the sheriff laughed. They assured him that this was not an amusing situation. No sense of humor, those tax men.
thanks y’all
Suz, my absolute favorite is the one with the yappy puppy…and the cat (who always ends up on the ceiling).

Plans released for W’s prez library
Since nothing is off topic, I have a question about Kosovo. Do you think Clusterfuck was supposed to signal support for Kosovo the way he did? Had the decision already been made to support them or did idiot-in-chief jump the gun and congratulate the Kosovars without discussing it with anyone. Do you think he even spoke to the State Dept. before making that statement? And, finally, did Bush realize the impact that would have?
Seeking knowledge.
TexB, wishing you good an pain-free sleep. Hope the doc had good news.
g’nite, wobbly.
i would not put it past him to have done it on the spur of the moment. typical bush the non-thinker
Why would speaking to the State Dept. matter?
Just on an historical basis, a president would speak with state on something as important as Kosovo, but we’re dealing with W, unfortunately.
Solai, since you asked, here’s my take on it- I think the Kosovo independence thing has been in the works for awhile, and I don’t think Bush knows enough of the subtleties know what to do…i think to a certain degree tha this is about NATO asserting its supposed right to do what it will. I als think the Russians are looking for a confrontation with the US, and I would be surprised to find that the Russian intelligence agencies are not inside Kosovo, to fan the flames and provide a pretext.
I know. In one of Woodwards books (not sure which one) he made the point about Bush making some decision. Unilaterally. Without discussing (or informing) all the people that should have been part of the process. Now, I’m going to have to go find that passage.
Well, that was my first thought. In reverse. I wondered if Bush was trying to piss off the Russians.
Aren’t the Islamofascistterrorists enough? Does some military contractor need us to be confrontational with Russia too?
Suze, I can’t make it.
Nothin’ wromgh in Kosovo that a surge can’t fix.
perhaps a two-fer… piss off state and piss of russia
:(

Oh Jeez, thanks!
Upside: Those earthquake pills [GASP!!]! It’s been years, I’d forgot all about that one. The thing about these is, you often don’t remember the exact gag, you just remember laughing yourself silly.
“Downside”: I have now had my attention called to how many more Looney Tunes are online than there used to be. One more thing to get mesmerized by.
“Wackiki Wabbit”
i’m getting hammered with bands of heavy heavy rain and then periods of relative calm dripping … such as now. i suppose if i attempt to take the pups out to save a redwood, the skies will open up again.
Don’t misunderstand. I don’t have a clue. But with the riots and all, I just wondered if Bush knew what the fuck he was doing.
Bully For Bugs
since when has boosh ever known what the fork he was doing…
Well, that’s true.
Okay, I’ve got some serious eyestrain. It’s 2:25 here. See all tomorrow.

OUCH - Grease spill causes highway closures in San Diego
i once worked a crash where a truck fulla canned peaches jackknifed – forking slippery peach juice all over the forking roadway.
My tummy muscles are sore from laughing. Seriously funny stuff.
Had one of those happen in Sacramento a million years ago. One of these trucks that visits restaurants and sucks the waste grease out of the traps, into a small tanker. Mostly full load dumped onto Hwy 50 westbound about 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon.
Lovely.
seems to me that tomato trucks are the ones that ya hear about flipping over the most. them and trucks with wine.
Turnovers or no, used to be that when the Sac Valley tomato harvests would come in, the transports would spill lots of the fruit on the freeways in the summer. Smelled great, messed with traction.
When my dad was still alive, I made that run up to Sac and back many times. those dried red blotches alongside the roads were gross looking until i figured out they were tomatoes that had fallen off the truck and not blood spatters from some horrendous crash.
Hi margot!
Hi kirk!
ok pups, that’s it for me. g’nite all and thanks for hanging with me tonight
nite suzanne
keep them battened down
gnite suz – wishing you and the pups (and kitty) a safe night!
Ms. ET and I are back from the Anchorage Symphony concert sponsored by Exxon three days before the Supreme Court will hear the class action lawsuit filed by over 30,000 Alaskans for compensation for damages from the Exon Valdez oil spill 19 years ago. I booed when Exxon was supposed to be applauded for their support. Ms. ET, who didn’t applaud, didn’t boo, didn’t moon, said I was the only booer.
The orchestra played Aaron Copland’s 3rd Symphony very, very well.
ET, good for you for speaking out!
{btw – any mooners?}
Morning all…
Mornin, biodun!
Dayam – you start your day early. I’m impressed (’specailly as I’m ready for bed)
I slept in today–I usually get up at 2 AM CT….
None reported. Time to move on to other issues, eh?
Lots of friends going to DC to watch the arguments on the Exxon Valdez case Wednesday. I could have been a plaintiff, but one of my mottos is “A day thinking about your attorneys or thinking about what your attorneys are thinking, is a day subtracted from the book of life.”
ET, Biodun – you both rawk
(and ET, love your words of wisdom re: litigation)
Off to bed – hope both you awesome people have a good day/night/diurnal period!
FDL toobz acting up…double posts…
Hey ET–Whassup?
Hegel? Nah, he’s down. I’m doing more research on an article on Don Young for Howie at down with tyranny.
I knew I’d get some flak for that Hegel business, (*g*) but seriously, how can you talk seriously about history without mentioning him?
As I age, I pass through periods where I’ll go back and re-read a historian, seeing how he or she might strike me different a new time around. Some endure, some don’t.
Foote’s Civil War series did well 2nd time. Fuller’s books didn’t. Churchill was difficult to wade through the first two times, the third is awful, except his biography of Marlborough.
Reaching all the levels you mentioned yesterday simultaneously, is really tricky. So few historians these days have good helpers on the date/time stuff, resulting in errors that turn serious readers off. Or, their agenda gets in the fucking way. Like Michael Oren, who would otherwise meet your Helgelian criteria…
from my favorite REAL Alaska blogger, Ishmael Melville, at Kodiak Konfidential, comes this:
It’s 1:59 AM Sunday over there, ain’t it, ET…
That it was a few minutes ago. I find it hard to sleeep after concerts, whether I’m in them or just listening/watching, like this evening.
I’m in and out, eating breakfast and writing my Sunday slot post on Kosovo…
FDL is pretty fast right now–no traffic I guess…servers aren’t overloaded…
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Kristof and Rich. MoDo is doing her “Hillary is masculine, Barack is feminine” thing again. This time she calls it “¿Quién Es Less Macho? and says the first serious female candidate for president may be rejected by voters drawn to the more feminine management style of her male rival. Mr. Kristof addresses Obama’s Kenyan roots, and says that if we call ourselves a land of opportunity, then Barack Obama’s heritage doesn’t threaten American values but showcases them. Mr. Rich’s column is titled “The Audacity of Hopelessness” and he says the Clinton camp has been the slacker in this presidential race, and its candidate’s message, for all its purported high-mindedness, is self-immolating.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got waffles with either maple syrup or spiced peach sauce. Have a splendid day.
I’m sitting here puzzling over two long and tedious Dkos diaries by “Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse”:

PDNC argues that telco immunity entails BushCo immunity, which entails congressional ratification of the unitary-executive (president-as-emperor) doctrine. For whatever reason, I don’t follow PDNC’s arguments, but I suspect that Bush has more at stake here than simple loyalty to his telco buddies.
It’s ironic that if you take everything the White House and GOP are saying at face value, they are holding us and our families hostage threatening to let the terrorists kill us unless the House Democrats give in on telco immunity. And, thus far, nobody has called him on that. (See the ransom demand at http://www.gop.gov )
I believe the FISA immunity they are discussing gives immunity to “any person”.
That covers a WHOLE lot more than Telco execs.
Good Morning Marion, wigwam, Smgumby!
maple syrup for me Marion, thank you, for a minute there I thought you were offering SPIKED peach sauce, oh well, maybe next time ;)
I’m sure getting the feeling from reading emptywheel that the push for immunity for telecoms is, deep down, immunity for the
crookspeople in this administration. Just Say NO to telecom immunity, pretty simple.Do you have a link to one of EW’s posts where she makes that case? Thanks in advance.
Good Morning everyone. Can I get immunity from the Bush presidency with the FISA bill?

sorry, it’s only OK if you are a republican
Hi Elliot.
Even if I act like a WATB like they do?
Here’s the one in particular that I was thinking about, bmaz wrote it btw
Don’t Cry For The Telcos – Bush & Cheney Are The Only Ones That Are Dying For Immunity
lol!! that would be a good start! but you’re still gonna have to change your party affiliation.
And lose my respect for the rule of law, compromise my principles and put a yellow ribbon magnet on my car.
You know, I’m not seeing so many yellow ribbon magnets anymore, like none.

No neither am I seeing many. I think it’s great that soldiers are speaking out, I just hope they aren’t reprimanded for doing so. I know the military operates under it’s own code, however if someone is risking their life for freedom, they should have the same freedom they are defending.
Thanks for that link, Elliott
