St John McCain has FIFTY-NINE federal lobbyists, representing these and other companies, raising money for and working on his campaign. And one even lobbies while riding the Straight Talk Express, according to Charles Black, who has become the face of the campaign on the Vicki Iseman story:
Black said he does a lot of his work by telephone from McCain's Straight Talk Express bus.
Sweet.
I wonder if he expects a desk in McCain's Oval Office?

yo
bingo!
Heh.
He is taking money from the guys who gave us 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers?
Teddy!
He does not see the conflict in taking money from Toyota and GM?
The question is will this damage the teflon maverick?
Or will the MSM say, “Nothing to see here folks, Move along.”
Score!!!
That list — bet Billy Joel could put it to music.
I guess he doesn’t hate lobbyist so much afterall
Joe Lieberman told him it was OK.
JPMorgan. and Fannie Mae I’m sure want a tax payer paid for bailout of the subprime and the soon to come prime loan crises.
FEC is getting traction on MSNBC…
Maybe at his next rally, instead of “Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran” St. John will sing “She’s Always a Woman”.
Mr. McCain is not even a special hypocrite. He’s just run of the mill.
” St John McCain has FIFTY-NINE federal lobbyists ” How many are female?
Epu’ed to Raven.
Cujo? who that?
It strikes me he might be more suited for Dick Cheney’s office. Has McCain asked Black to head up a Veep search committee yet?
Cujo comes and goes, been a Laker as long as I can recall.
And now, in Newsweek, an apparent contradiction between the current McCain statement about Miss Vicki’s client and employer — and sworn testimony by St John in an earlier deposition:
It’s up to us, again. McCain is blinded by the brilliant light of power almost in his grasp. He really can’t see any conflict of interest. He can’t judge himself. Are you guilty, John? No, he responds. We’ll expose you, John, because we know you have no sense of right and wrong.
Time to get back to work. In this H.S. algebra class I’m trying to introduce and impart an impression of sequences and series. On Friday afternoon, no less. Good gawd.
ewwww math and math on a friday at that. LOL good luck kiddo
Contradictions like the one Isikoff found and published in Newsweek are what will keep the press on this story — and make it live until the Sunday gasbag shows. Veering away from the prurience of Miss Vicki are the clear contradictions between what McCain says now and what he’s said in the past.
Nothing like finding out their favorite Straight Talker is not. The media may be falling out of love.
Or Uptown Girl.
Yeah, Raven has my schedule down pretty good. I’ve been commenting here since the Haloscan days, off and on.
Newsweek’s Isikoff catches McCain in yet another lobbyist lie:
(On edit: Heh! Teddy beat me to it! GMTA.)
Could it be McCain’s memory and not his honor that’s failed?
Or Smith Girl (directed at Adie not Christy)!
en garde!
You know, Teddy, even for McCain that’s an unexpectedly long list of lobbyists. Wonder how that compares to his competitors?
oh puleeze! are you serious? another re*gan???
Where’s a fly-swatter when ya need one?!
careful! Math is cool!
When this story broke I thought that he would go down (no pun intended). Then, I watched in amazement as the NY Times became the story instead of McCain’s behavior and I changed my mind. Now, I’m back to thinking he won’t survive. It’s all up to the media.
So you say! I’m sure to this day that I’m a bit allergic *g* I was/am still of the language arts/humanities persuasion and while I don’t hate math, I also lack a healthy appreciation for it :)
I think Johnny’s memory is OK, it’s just stunted. Teenagers do the same thing. They can’t remember that you told them to take out the trash. Stunted Johnny.
Or maybe both.
Seriously, he should be checked for alzheimers.
He is probably too old or senile to drive that Straight Talk Express.
Maybe that is why there are so many
lobbyistsvultures with a hand on the steering wheel. It seems that at the beginning, there was a general impression that the McCain/Iseman story, which ripped open this whole question, was a right-wing takedown, meant to either destroy McCain, or else insulate him from the issue during the general. Do we know anymore about this?
McCain in the brain
insane in the membrane
That’s cool. Mini-Rieszette is English/Humanities/Music oriented and she hates Math!
Black is a sleazbag.
Meanwhile, it must be a slow news day because there’s a jet in Florida with a stuck nose gear and they’re going to follow it around for a few hours while it burns off fuel and then makes an emergency landing in Miami.
Afternoon entertainment on MSNBC.
*channeling Henry Higgins*
The vain McCain is mainly just inane.
The mathematical aspects of music, harmony and rhythm, could possibly be used as the hook to interest her in math.
I assumed everyone saw this
In defense of the New York Times’ takedown.
By Jack Shafer
What Applebaum and others miss is that the Times doesn’t have to produce photographic evidence of the hot dog meeting the bun to cast suspicion upon the McCain-Iseman intimacies. If McCain were as close to a male lobbyist as he is Iseman, I’d want the Times to report it. That McCain may have voted against the interests of Iseman’s clients is no vindication. Her extreme proximity to a self-styled political ethicist is.
that much is plain.
According to Public Citizen, Clinton has 19 raising money for her campaign; Barack has been advised by Tom Daschle, who helps local governments understand the feds but isn’t registered as a lobbyist.
Cable companies, telecoms I don’t know of anyone who is happy with the price or service of their cable or cell phone companies. Hilary and Obama should jump on McCain’s lobbyists now.
Peggy’s Regular America will wonder if the cash the government of 15, of the 19, 9/11 hijackers gave John McCain is whats been kept Ossama safe all these years.
Detroit will be wondering if he is really on are side or is he playing us?
If I find out that he is the reason why O’Reily, Hannity, Lou Dodds, and Glen Beck etc are on Cable…well then I must make a Vodoo doll and place in infront of the TV for a 24 hr Michael Moore flimfest/deprograming session.
OT — yeah, Grand Blanc, I googled you the other day. Personally, I prefer dictums to theorems.
Fifty-nine lobbyists! I guess McCain only sixty-nines with one of them, /s
Whats her name, Blondie?
or rectums
Making lobbying calls from the phone on the Straight Talk Express begs the question: did any of the ubiquitous reporters hear any of those calls? And what did the reporters think about those calls? And why didn’t they report any of those calls?
This closeness to media that’s helped McCain may also be his undoing.
Day Two: Not Who He Seems
unseemly, indeed.
Oooh, this is not good. The nose gear is only partially retracted. It will be an interesting landing.
There once was a man named McCain,
Some called insane in membrane.
He had a blond lobbyist,
Who Wasn’t his Hobby Hoss,
And now she say’s “Yeah, now who’s insane?”
Maybe AT&T, SBC, and Verizon lobbyists are the reason St John sat out the telecom immunity vote last week.
Sorry — long day, long week. No witty response at my disposal except — you tryin’ to make an ass outta me? Punaise. Help me out here.
Dictum hell, it killed ‘um!
:-)
I been singin’ that tune…
(i don’t believe in coincidences.)
Ewwww…hot dog, bun and McCain in the same sentence. Brain bleach…pronto.
It’s 2:07 pm here. And I am done for the day. Pep rally. I’m gong home. I think it safe to say I love math, and the humanities equally. :0)
Good day to you all. Been awhile, but life is busy and I read ya’ll every day…
Meanwhile,
The evidence is damning, isn’t it?
But I don’t know if the TeeVee really follows this kind of thing.
They live and die by the lobbyists. We can’t expect any traction from the Tube.
Maybe the papers will follow and keep up both the revelations and the pressure? How many American voters actually read the paper beyond the front page, the weather, sports, and comics?
I expect Winger/Radio will use this all summer as proof the lefty media is after their sainted candidate, and BTW all the indicted and jailed Repubs.
TeeVee will repackage the Winger positions into questions of their hired pundits and act like the answers provide a learned and fair analysis.
So I guess, like here in primary season, it’ll be up to us to inform the country and push the truth.
Maybe Vicky met him at the airport and delayed him.
They are flying by the tower. Gear looks down, but it is not locked and may collapse when the nose comes down on landing. If that happens things could get interesting.
lobbyists? no so much. *g
And, honestly, being a registered lobbyist may or may not be an indicator either. In most states, there are regs that require you to register as a lobbyist if you are working for any client who has business or other matters which require you to represent their interests to a governmental agency or to legislators. Including if you are representing a private citizen requesting a legislative wording change in order to facilitate private adoption or a mom and pop business whose operation is impacted by a poorly crafted piece of legislationthat left out considerations for smaller operations because bigger companies had a hand in crafting it as a means to drive them out of business.
There are any number of really good reasons that can force you to register as a lobbyist which don’t make you a skeezeball. Including working for Human Rights Watch or the ACLU or the NEA or any number of union groups or citizen action councils, what have you. But the skeezy folks stick out…and the people that McCain has surrounded himself with? Oh yeah…they stick out.
You know I really do want to make it fun here.
Yeah, they say music improves math ability, but I don’t think it encourages people to like math! Anyway I agree with kiddo– I love both math and humanities.
nothin’ worse than a gaggle of gals my age that call emselves “girls”.
Don’t you start with me.
On our wedding day, a friend sneaked over & lifted up my stoopid flouncy white skirt just a tad, to make sure there weren’t jeans underneath.

I’m done. Promise. *salutes & hands ceremonial sword, handle 1st*
“That’s a jump of 3.8 cents a gallon overnight and 7 cents in two days, huge moves in a universe where a penny is considered significant.
The nationwide average for regular-grade gasoline Friday was $3.115, up 2.9 cents overnight and 6.2 cents in two days. At that rate, the average price by the middle of next week would break the record $3.227 set May 24.”
http://www.usatoday.com/money/.....ices_N.htm
McCain has worked so hard to own the war and claim that the Surge is working. Too bad gas prices are up so high its real hard to believe that America is winning a war for oil when gas prices are so high.
The correlation between high gas prices and turning out incumbents on both sides should be interesting.
Heh, meanwhile on C-span, the British House of Commons is investigating our rendition flights…!
Yeah, that one doesn’t cut the mustard. I do not relish that mental image.
Ok, now to ketchup on the comments…
My first wedding I wore a blue cowboy shirt with yella flowers, purple chuck taylors with red laces, had my keys on a clip on my belt and, during the ceremony actually put my hair in a pony tail.
oh, is this off topic?
hehehehehe I’m telling you, if there was a fling, and sweaty taped phone messages or icky, nudie photos exist, I may have to run away. Far, far away.
I slaw that coming…
I live in LA.
Monday, I paid 3.03.
Yesterday, same place was 3.15.
Good to see you. Long time, no type!
thanks for sharing the nightmare…aaack
Sourcewatch counts eight “lobbyist bundlers” in Obama’s campaign. Seems to me he had a couple working in his campaign. Must find source ..
Sourewatch on Obama Financing.
In a little bit of looking, I couldn’t find a similar page on McCain.
Anyway, no one’s clean here, but McCain looks to be way ahead.
With Charlie Daniels; ‘A Country Boy Will Survive’ playing in the background?
“Knock knock”
“Who’s there?”
“Emerson”
“Emerson who?”
“Emerson pretty bad jokes!”
What’s it looking like on Hillary’s front?
And, as Marcy’s pointed out, we already have a White House run by lobbyists. McCain is more of the same, while his career is based on his supposed antipathy to lobbyists. Why would all those people be hanging around, using the phone on the McCain bus, unless they had something to gain?
Americans understand that there are lobbyists and there are lobbyists. Remember how badly Hillary stumbled on the lobbyist question at YKos? Americans understand that lobbyists for major corporations aren’t working for the benefit of the common good in DeeCee.
I was more into Tucker, “You Better Leave This Long Haired Country Boy Alone”, I don’t think Survive was out in 72.

People say I’m no-good,
And crazy as a loon.
I get stoned in the morning,
I get drunk in the afternoon.
Kinda like my old blue tick hound,
I like to lay around in the shade,
An’, I ain’t got no money,
But I damn sure got it made.
‘Cos I ain’t askin’ nobody for nothin’,
If I can’t get it on my own.
If you don’t like the way I’m livin’,
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.
Preacher man talkin’ on the TV,
He’s a-puttin’ down the rock ‘n’ roll.
He wants me to send a donation,’Cos he’s worried about my soul.
He said: “Jesus walked on the water,”And I know that is true,
But sometimes I think that preacher man,
Would like to do a little walkin’, too.
But I ain’t askin’ nobody for nothin’,
If I can’t get it on my own.
You don’t like the way I’m livin’,
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.
A poor girl wants to marry, And a rich girl wants to flirt.
A rich man goes to college,And a poor man goes to work.
A drunkard wants another drink of wine,And a politician wants a vote.
I don’t want much of nothin’ at all,But I will take another toke.
‘Cos I ain’t askin’ nobody for nothin’,If I can’t get it on my own.
If you don’t like the way I’m livin’,
You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

has stcain gotten his nosegear locked down yet?
Sourcewatch doesn’t have a similar page for Clinton, either. Don’t know why. My guess is that she’s probably in a similar position. However, in her case, as opposed to either McCain or Obama, she’s on record as saying this is a part of the process, and she won’t unilateraly disarm.
So while you can accuse her of being influenced by them, hypocrisy on this issue is a harder sell.
It also might be specious to try to compare such pages in that case, even if they exist. I know that Sourcewatch has at least one researcher who is a Clinton supporter. This person writes Rezko Watch, among other things. There may not be an “apples to apples” comparison.
*groan* Yer Back in Black…! Long time no see…!
seriously, are they still circling the tower?
darkblack! Good to see you! I’m glad I’m not the only one who remembers that picture!
Punaise is god. (Stealing that from 60’s Clapton graffiti, in keeping with the former Friday theme.) (And whatever happened to Guitar Playing Bastard?)
“A Country Boy Can Survive” is a single, released in 1981, by country music artist Hank Williams, Jr.
Hello, all…Oh, I forgot to tell you not to look…My apologies, CT.

OpenSecrets campaign finance page.
Out of that list… ONE could have ties to Arizona… ONE… US Air who was know as America West located in Tempe AZ…
Today Governor Mecham of Arizona died…
On the day Renzi was indicted….. hmmmm
I love ‘em both…! ;-)
BTW, darkblack, that Che/Obammunist picture was just ill. I laughed for days.
Thanks for the info
All time fave Hank Jr.: Attitude Adjustment (YouTube).
Here’s a good article on the subject. It mentions that Obama has three paid lobbyists on his campaign staff. It says Clinton has one, whom the campaign insists is on hiatus. Also mentions that Edwards had a couple, as did Romney.
Sorry if that’s an article someone else has linked.
Charlie’s a bit of a fascist don’t ya think?
Thank you, RonD. Just trying to keep my ’silly season’ contribution up.

Citizen Wobblybits and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
“What’s it looking like on Hillary’s front?”
About the same as on her backside…she has a talent for grabbin’ defeat from the jaws a victory. After her peroration last night, she coulda finished up this thing with some dignity and maybe a place in the party leadership, instead she goes on TV and reiterates her worst moment that elicited catcalls and thus tossed away any advantage in Texas that she’d earned and sealed the deal for most progressive opposition to ‘er.
