Woohoo
President Smoov’ B!
hey ya’ll
It’s quiet up here. Nice.
after a debate, soothing music is always good :) how ya been patrick 4/4
Jeebus I miss youtube.
(internet nazi strikes again)
yay no bs
Good. And you?
fair to middling – we are gonna get in a fairly windy and wet storm sat so i have been doing the hunkering down bit – stocking up on candles, etc.
Kasey Chambers! Anything Australian reminds me of when I proposed to my better half on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Thankssss…….for the memories.
We’ve already got the windy and damp in SoCal. My guess is you’ll get it worse.
you got what we had yesterday i think. i got around 2/3″ and lost power for a couple hours last nite.
Nice song, Suz. How are you tonight? And Token?
Oh man! Yes! I can only imagine the ads:
“This is Smoov’ B, and I approve the message…all night long. You know it.”
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/37319
I may have missed this in the discussions today, please forgive me for bringing this one up. – Could it be that McCain authorized the NYT to release the flimsy allegations just so his name will stay in the papers while the Dems have their debates, Texas and Ohio, etc.? It gives him an opportunity to show that he can handle himself over little conflicts while giving the controversy time to die down before the conventions.
I really don’t put much past the Repugs as a party at this point.
token and i are nice and dry, enjoying a peaceful evening after the debate with a fire going in the fireplace, teddy. how are you tonight?
I Dugg you, Suzanne
When is the next recipe thread? You all were making me hungry in the first debate thread
thanks neuro (blushing)
off topic is the topic – what recipes you got wobbly?
Are you suggesting we’re pluie-giarizing?
“Yes. I. Can.”
*blushing* I am woefully unprepared, I had wayyyy too much happy tea. I’m always looking for stuff for mr as he is not a true raw foodie.
not at all. i’m just saying you are getting water after we have used it (laughing)
did not know you were down in the southland now (or else my faulty memory is messing with me again)
Si Se Poontang.
In the wilds of Studio City, where the Britneys and papparazzi roam.
You poor thing..
I can change baby. I can change – change you can believe in.
ohmystars – i’m so sorry
How about this?
Toll House Pie
It is certainly not exotic, but the kids love it, it’s not hard to make, and it goes SO GOOD with home made ice cream. (aw hell, any ice cream)
Kasey Chambers is teh hot. Is she a big star? She should be. (yes, I know that wasn’t her in the video)
My wife called me one afternoon and asked me to turn on the radio. Traffic was backed up and three news helicopters were hovering over Laurel Canyon and Ventura.
Britney. Having coffee.
Ha, ha
This plagiarism meme, stupid from the start, is officially over. Wolfson is an idiot. Penn too.
‘B/Anchower ‘08!
http://www.theonion.com/conten…..go_to_work
Jim Anchower most definitely inhales.
this is another great song by her
I certainly hope so
everything goes with homemade icecream :)
Makes me very happy to be an ignorant redneck in a smallish town, although Mel Gibson and someone I can’t remember right now have mansions a few miles out of town behind big gates.
Never see ‘em, don’t know they ever are around.
Geez, makes me glad that we’re tucked in a little city between LA and LB. I truly feel for you as that has gotten completely out of hand
i gotta friend who lives in hollywood and she talks about this kinda stuff and i thought it was just localized. dayam, patrick, is the britinization of la working its way around socal?
Why do I know the names of each and every Hillary advisor, but never hear the names of Obama’s advisors. His campaign advisors seem to be exceptionally professional and competent. And, they handled Michelle’s recent slip with the professionalism of Reagan’s best spin doctors. Impressive! (BTW, I don’t particlularly like his lineup of foreign policy advisors, but that’s another story.)
He is not much of a dessert fan. He just eats chocolate if the sugar bug hits him
mmm chocolate hot fudge sundaes, flourless chocolate cake, chocolate bread pudding. i bet chocolate covered pickles would even taste better than pickles without chocolate.
We only have the Hollywood Hills between Hollywood and the Valley. Britney lives on the Studio City side of the Hills.
lol, yeah you get the all-choclate theme. But when he gets chocolate in his system, he reverts to being a 12 year-old (no perks there LOL)
here’s waccamaw’s chocolate bread pudding (with whiskey sauce) recipe
ooooh chocolate for him…whiskey sauce for me. My grandmother used to make the best bread pudding with the most killer whiskey sauce. Mouth is drooling
The Chocolate is my drug of choice.
And I need to be in the study.
this is another lln recipe i’m gonna try. Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Cake
OH CRAP!!
I just tried to print the bread pudding recipe and by mistake printed the entire 80 page thread!!
Well, I caught it after 53 pages, but still!
boa noite, pups. gonna go snuggle with the mr
oh dear, i neglected to warn ya.. cut and paste em and then print it out
same thing on the cake one too
g’nite wobbly
snagged the cake recipe on my way out
Did you see the side-by-side with Bill Clinton’s speech from 1992? It’s basically word for word. What a joke.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ7Cs3QvT3U
Yep, one more ‘get up’ before I can stay up late.
See ya tomorrow.
g’nite busted
Only a joke because she made the silly plagerism charge.
I find this talk of chocolate rather disturbing, as I have no chocolate in the house.
I think if any other candidate had lost eleven contests in a row, there would be a huge hue and cry for Unity and a concession. I am surprised — Democrat elected officials must be afraid of the BigDog. I wonder who will deliver the message to Hillary that her campaign is over.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she figures it out before he does.
*gasp*
that’s why there are 24 hour kwik emarts
We finished all our chocolate about one hour ago. I wish I’d left a little, as I’d share it with you. Oh, wait, there’s some chocolate dessert cups still wrapped from Xmas, but they’re for company.
Oh, hell, neuro, you’re company — here!
Absolutely.
i’ll run out and distract the NSA monitors in the truck while you stuff those dessert cups into the tubes, teddy. a nice couple cups of hot chocolate for this chilly night (with marshmellows) should allow ya enough time
Thank you so much, Teddy. And your fiance too.
If you can’t fit them into the toobz, perhaps Sen. Stevens could be persuaded to send a truck…
Clinton’s been through more campaigns than Obama, Richardson, and Edwards combined. When it’s over, she’ll know. Until then, considering the alternative, I hope she keeps on.
poor willard romney must be regretting suspending his campaign
Why the need to distract them? Just give them a portion and they’ll be fine.
Speaking of Toobz…apparently Ted Stevens is gonna run again?
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/n…..o_stay.php
We gotta run this dude and his trucks outta DeeCee, copy that, big buddies?
I like that!
Looking for that one about changing the lock on her door…
Willard got trounced despite outspending his opponents. Bit of a different situation.
Doesn’t a suspended campaign mean he can restart?
Suspended as opposed to ended? I have never been entirely clear on that.
… and endorsing McStain in the presser just last week!
Suspended for purposes of holding fundraisers at a later time in order to pay back his huge loans to his campaign, I believe. Or, in Edwards’ case, to allow time for FEC matching funds to arrive.
i’m not clear on it either – am hoping some of the great minds of the lake can help ’splain it to me
Wow. So the one area of tonight’s debate where she supposedly scored – she was ripping off Bill and John BOTH in one statement.
After making an empty accusation. There really is a yuk about her, just when you think she’s getting real the yuk ferments and you get another wiff.
She’s toast. Crossover repuglitards are voting in the Texas Dem primary – with one purpose – to make sure they don’t have to look at HIllary for the next four years. I live here, I know these people that’s what’s happening. The effect will be to take a narrow win for Obama and make it into a blowout.
Texas isn’t going to be even close. Obama’s going to crush her.
I can’t imagine what started the trend of saying “suspending” when “ending” clearly applies.
i figured there was some legal or financial reason for saying suspending but it does make me wonder, can ya then end the suspension and start back up again?
heh heh…
I suppose. Yet Chris Dodd ended his campaign, and is soliciting contributions to retire the debt. It’s beyond my ken, that’s for sure.
hey npb – ya getting stocked up for sat’s storm that may come in friday afternoon?
Romney’s vast campaign apparatus — and it was vast, not just The Five Brothers — is mostly scattered to the winds. Has anyone heard from Hucklebee since Vicki surfaced with her clients’ jetplane rides and influence with McCain she bragged about in every meeting of DeeCee telecom lobbyists?
Yep. He said he totally respects Sinjin.
And Vicki is teh hot.
how about this
A family I know in Virginia all voted for Obama, and 2 of them plan to vote for him in the election. The other 3 will vote for McCain. They just didn’t want Hillary.
From the Houston Chronicle (just released):
I’m guessing the blonde isn’t going to be a wedge issue here.
BushCo and the Republicans are stoking up their Mighty Wurlitzer regarding their displeasure with the House for:
— allowing the PAA to expire
— not yet passing the Senate’s FISA update, with its retroactive immunity for the telcos.
But, the PAA expired because all 195 House Republicans with the help of 34 Blue Dog Democrats voted down a proposed PAA extension (which Bush had already threatened to veto).
Also, even without the PAA, existing FISA legislation (1) mandates telco compliance with LETITIMATE governmental requests for assistance and (2) grants them immunity from any possible resulting litigation. (BushCo claims that telcos would otherwise not assist are totally bogus.)
If the telcos gave the government illegal access to our email and phone conversations, they deserve a fair trial, just like the rest of us, but violations of federal law should be tried in courts, not in congress.
I recommend Glenzilla’s post for today: http://www.salon.com/opinion/g…..index.html
That’s because the wedge has been totally out of style since Dorothy Hamill.
I gotta hand it to them, the Republicans have done more for our right to privacy this month than the Democrats. Hard to believe.
i think the blonde is the shiny bright distraction to the real problem – the letters he wrote on behalf of her lobbyist clients to the FCC and other ethical problems.
i ’spose this is where i mention i have my hair cut similar to a dorothy hamill wedge…
If you don’t have blades on your feet, I’m totally cool with that.
Someone who’s going to the Bear Creek meet-up, I want pictures of that haircut, please!
no blades and nor any grace – i am but one in a long line of klutzes in my family tree
Absolutely. That’s why I wrote it that way. It’s really another story about how sleazy and superficial politics can be in Washington, which is reflected in how it’s covered.
Mega-EPU’d! LOL I mistakenly posted the following at the end of the Late Nite thread, when I meant to post it here…
———————-
Speaking of Sen. Stevens…
On Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5:54 p.m. FDL published an article in the news box about Stevens announcing he is running for re-election. I posted the following comment:
One Response to “Stevens files for reelection”
neurophius February 21st, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Senator Stevens’s campaign for re-election is a political Bridge to Nowhere. This man has nothing to offer the voters of Alaska or the Senate of the United States. He is ethically bankrupt and long ago ceased to have any useful ideas about how to govern the country or any competence to assist in that process. He should attempt to salvage some semblence of personal honor and respect by stepping aside and allowing the democratic process to elect a Senator who has something positive and effective to offer Alaskans and the American people.
————————-
Is ET around?
If he sees this, he should feel free to use it in any way he might wish.
And the plane ride he never disclosed.
And the lobbyists who run his campaign.
And the lobbyists who get their money’s worth by donating to his campaigns.
neuro, i’ll be here for a couple more hours and will point it out to him when he comes in if you have left for the evening.
Klutzes in a tree. Thank Darwin for evolution.
and this from the WaPoo (and not the NYTimes) is going up on the news ticker next
Thanks, Suzanne
That’s exactly what Jane said: http://firedoglake.com/2008/02…..k-express/
neuro, how’s weather back there? i believe margot said earlier she has snow in her forecast.
click on that wa poo link and be pleasantly surprised
Yes, there’s definitely some meat there. Strange that the press are now feeding on McCain. They seem to like him so much. Someone did a similar story about Obama, but that’s not so surprising – he’s a Democrat, so he was asking for it.
Great article, Suzanne.
On a post last night, Jane said it’s not about the sex, it’s about the corruption.
I don’t know about the sex, but I think it is not only about the corruption, it is also about the hypocrisy. McCain presents himself as a super-ethical White Knight, when in fact he wallows with the hogs.
I liked this part:
“Public Citizen, a group that monitors campaign fundraising, has found that McCain has more bundlers — people who gather checks from networks of friends and associates — from the lobbying community than any other presidential candidate from either party.
By the group’s current count, McCain has at least 59 federal lobbyists raising money for his campaign, compared with 33 working for Republican Rudolph W. Giuliani and 19 working for Democrat Clinton.”
Nice to see the NYT story was not a one-day wonder.
i found it interesting they printed meat about an republican – as you said, it really is the type of article they tend to write about the d’s.
FDL scooped WaPo by at least 12 hours. Way to go, Jane!
i particularly liked the hypocrisy they pointed out here:
We had about an inch of snow/sleet Wed. night/Thur. morning, and they were predicting more of the same tonight. Some schools were closed, presumably out of fear that the roads would be slick. But it hasn’t happened so far. I stepped outside about an hour ago and there was no precipitation, just cold.
Where does Margot live?
ohio iirc
IMHO, WaPo’s reporters are pretty good, and this was a story that the editorial staff simply couldn’t suppress.
Does the WaPoo running with the story take some of the heat off the NYTimes – iirc, the r’s were pretty ticked at the liberal nytimes. they really can’t say that about the wapoo?
Especially so since WaPo focused on the substance more than the shiny blonde.
Sure they can Suzanne. You forget the r’s aren’t rational.
tomorrow is gonna be ‘interesting’ for st john and his lobbyists buddies
they really can’t say that about the wapoo?
Wanna bet?. They can say anything they want, and usually do.
Blasphemy…shhh Goddess might hear
I am a plasmatist since plasma is everywhere…as far a science knows, but that could change with new revelations for which I am patiently and happily waiting…happy, happy, happy for multiple reasons…needles to say
The great coming together is happening… America’s house will be put in order..then the family of nations can come together and little fuckheads like Dubya and McCAIN (named after Cain/Abel) and their ilk will not get to spread misery…the age of Aquarius will soon be ripe on that day reason will replace religion.
Things are improving you have to admit that at least.
Joy to the World…Joy to all the boys and girls…joy tp the fishes in the deep blue sea…joy to you and me…Jerimiah was a bull frog he lived at the bottom of the sea… Happy Happy Happy
hey bigbrother
As soon as you arrive..
You always had some mighty fine wine…
I apologize for replying to myself, but this from TPM seemed relevant:
i hope bush lands in dc and discovers his strategy is just a pipe dream. i think the msm may, i repeat may, be smelling blood in the water and you know that landsharks can not resist that.
bush’s way is not the american way – which is reflected in his 19% approval rating.
i hope he’s gonna land in dc and wish he was back on airforce one flying somewhere, anywhere.
I loved this Watertiger cartoon from the Africa trip.
Not to mention the talking heads all day Sunday!!! OMG
yeap, i think this story is gonna last all weekend (rubbing hands together gleefully)
Let’s hope some of the heads are talking about St. John McVain’s close personal relationships with dozens of the corporate lobbyists he wanted us to believe he despised…
Oh, and did I forget to mention?
John McCain supports torture by the United States of America
i think its gonna be near the top of the hit parade played all sunday morning. i especially like the part where his defense of she was just a friend plays right into going after his relationships with lobbyists.
George Bush’s policies have left us with so little change left in our pockets, it is sometimes hard to imagine how we can realize enough global capital and goodwill to effect any real CHANGE.
Go, Barack!!!
Watch out for bailing Republican congress critters too!
I’d love it! Unfortunately, the papers I’ve seen have been regurgitating is nonsense almost verbatim. (KO is a refreshing exception.)
Yes, after railing against them for years, he said in his statement Thursday that he considers many of them “friends”…as if he thinks that somehow makes those cozy relationships OK…including those with his “friends” who do business before the Senate Commerce Committee…
I don’t have to ask how McCain voted on telecom immunity, and would have even if Bush hadn’t told him he had to…
ET! neuro left a comment for ya upthread
But only by the United States of America. If some swarthy foreigner does it, then it’s torture and wrong.
The Rethugs have voted lockstep on Bushco policy. They will go down now in lockstep unless they are ready to take a lot of heat for a long time. Especially if if the IMPEACHMENT investigation proceeds.
Oh Boy, goody goody gum drops. Watch the rats run…see how they…no where to hide.
not just any United States of America – George Bush’s United States of America.
He was a no show… HMMM!
Sorry, I don’t recognize the legitimacy of that country.
*sticks fingers in ears*
Lalalalalalalalalalalala
i can not believe that almost 1 outta every 5 american’s approve of the way he has been destroying america. perhaps that 19% represents ceo’s, wall street types, lobbyists and the like.
One and one is two… two and two make four… would any reporters like to get out in front of the Impeachment story…what a hotty. Might call it up shit crick without a paddle…payback time agin ya know I gonna miss you…causeI can see that faraway look in your eyes. Dayam Sam.
It’s his default setting. Arizona should dock his pay.
Nuero…anycahnce Ohio could go Blue?
Seven to eight percent of respondents in any poll usually say the agreeable thing in order to please the interviewer. Presumably this set of dim bulbs is included in W’s 19%
time to cry a river?
My point it is telecom immunity his lobby and commerce committee?
so that puts his real base at what… 11%.
And a lot of idiots.
I am in KS not OH, bigbrother…(some people call Ohio a midwestern state, but to us, it’s Back East…)…but I hear the economy is hitting them pretty hard there. Maybe if Obama carries it in the primary they will follow through and support him in the general election. Just a guess.
And CEOs and retired rich people.
okay, bedtime!
ET did you see my comment at 98?
g’nite teddy
It couldn’t believe that they blocked the PAA extension and then blamed the Democrats for letting it expire. And the MSM parrotted their talking points, and never said a word about the truth of the matter. It was appalling.
But if you want to see “really appalling,” check the one-minute RNC video on the matter that Glenzilla has posted.
neuro, ET tends to switch back and forth between the late late nite threads and his blog
It’s been a lovely evening and a lovely…I wish you all sweet dreams
“Tommorow is a Brand New Day” (the song) Peace love and joy.
Joe Cocker!!!!
Maybe the lobbyist managing McCain’s campaign told him not to show for the telecom immunity vote on FISA!
g’nite bigbrother
Back, neuro,
Ted doesn’t have six years of acuity left in his mind. He’s more and more dottering every day. He’s worse than Brezhnev or Reagan at the time when their mental trajectory started going vertically downward. He drifts in and out from presence to absence when speaking or answering questions in a very troublesome way.
This has nothing to do with his criminality, or his wayward son. The Alaska GOP is cynical eough to know he’s that far out of touch with reality and still back him. They’re hoping he’ll somehow pull off a victory, die and then they’ll get to control the appointment of his successor.
Thanks, Suzanne. When the place sells, you need to come up here and visit the craziest place in the world.
its on my list et. i am gonna get up there and go fishing with ya. during the non-snow season.
we call it summer…
(laughing) i tend to think in terms of my two seasons – wet and dry. sorry about that.
Good night, all.
g’night neuro
You get a wet and dry season?
Here we get a wet season and a slightly less wet season…
yeap, we average between 60 and 90 inches per year – tis a temperate rain forest in CA in the mts above santa cruz ca. CA is semi-arid with our rainy season pretty much over by April with any last sprinkles in june with no rain until november-ish.
where’s your here?
I don’t give the rambling rose, Barack, the edge in this debate. Hillary always speaks clearly, to the point with an economy of words. I loved Hillary’s Xerox crack even if it got a few boos. It will get plenty of press and a chance to expose Obama’s lack of originality. Hillary’s close showed dignity, grace and passion for our country. She left Barack sputtering a request to respond, but the crowd was too busy giving her lots of love with a standing ovation. Anything after that much hoopla is anticlimactic. I can’t believe that camp Obama is now whining to the press that Hillary plagiarized some lines from Edwards at the close of her speech. Sour grapes. Hillary did not plagiarize her knock-it-out-of-the-park close. Barack, I thought silly season was over. Oh, right, you’re the guy who is against politics as usual.
Head north.
I’m in the forests of the Pacific NW, hour or so south of Seattle.
that’s my plan when the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods sells – am looking at perhaps near the oregon coast or maybe in southern wa. won’t make up my mind until i actually get up there and start looking at my options.
Although we really only average 40-50 inches a year, we spread it out all year long!
Since I retired, I have learned to love the rain – or at least the rain here. Of course, no longer having to direct traffic in the rain, at night, during a power failure while standing in a circle of flares emitting their sulfurous fumes might have something to do with it.
Morning, Suzanne…
morning biodun
