g’evening ya’ll
Hey Suz!
Hi Suzanne…. and everyone else
DUGG IT
Suzanne!
Leisure Guy!
My thoughts: A “draw” in the debate helps Obama a lot more than Hillary. She’s regarded as one of the top debaters out there. If he’s holding his own against her at the debate table, he’s winning overall.
Tyrone!
thanks nahant :)
how’s everyone doing tonight?
LOL, DrBong!
i am wondering if i can be a good parent and still fall asleep before my kid on a school night
I betcha St John ain’t getting any tonite.
FDL: a place for guys who need an educashun about wimmen wif attitud ……
tex, i believe once they are teens, that is permitted, assuming they are trustworthy enough to be home alone.
Why is Mrs. Mc Crazy standin by her man. She should kick his ass to the curb.
She did really well..except for the Xerox line.
Great people, both of them. “Really”
I couldn’t find Thunk but I found Volunteers.
No. In answer to the second part…
yes. Your kid can put himself to bed, right?
Know where I can get replacement monitors, cheap?
Good night all, gotta fight a probably snowy/icy commute in the early AM.
Give it up, TexB. You’ll be going to sleep earlier than your son for the rest of your life, probably.
g’nite ll, drive safely
Good night, LL. Brrrr.
Try a place that resells office equipment or business closures. Went to an auction and got a monitor for $50
These televised “presidential debates” are closer to American Idol that to any real debate. Obama has the charisma, and Hillary is foolish to ask for more of that side-by-side comparison. She may be the better debater and may win on all issues, but this isn’t debate, it’s American Idol.
(X – X)!
Goodnight, Loudon Lib.
I feel for your commute. In honor, I will turn off my air conditioner. :)
Another GOP operative turns on the machine:

Ex-GOP Operative: Rove Demanded Dirt on Alabama Gov. Siegelman
Jill Simpson reveals sordid new details of the former governor’s case on an upcoming episode of ”60 Minutes.”
—-
According to the CBS statement, Simpson says Rove approached her at a 2001 meeting, when Siegelman was still governor.
”Karl Rove asked you to take pictures of Siegelman?” reporter Scott Pelley asks.
”Yes,” Simpson replies.
”In a compromising sexual position with one of his aides,” Pelley says.
”Yes, if I could,” she responds.
Simpson said she is speaking out because Siegelman’s seven-year sentence on corruption charges bothers her, the release said. She said she found no evidence of an affair.

Goodnight, ll – may safe roads ever riseup to meet your treads.
What goes around, comes around. She was screwing him when he was married to Carol.
Well it’s been more than 24 hours and no additional details from the NYT have been forthcoming about the “affair”. I can’t believe they charged a top-tier candidate with an affair based on innuendo. If they did this to a Dem, I’d be so furious I’d be bouncing off the walls.
Oh, God, how I want to see that fat pig Karl go down over that one!
Agreed!
if he cheated to be with her, he will cheat on her. she shoulda known that
heresay
G’nite Lou, stay home if you can!
Maybe there wasn’t a prenup…. AZ is a community property state…
It’s going to be a not-to-be-missed 60 Minutes on Sunday:
i’ve already set my cable reminder for it :) will have to get more popcorn tho
What I need around here is the Bic disposable model. Or duct tape and plastic sheeting?
Damn right. She said herself that he (Rove) came right over here to me and he said it.
Sounds like here-say to me. But it isn’t hearsay.
You mean the lake isn’t prepared for a terra attack….
many of us learn that lesson around 17
Ok, Siegelman is a nice start, how about a little expose on Sibels…!
Night, LL, I have that snow falling here right now.
We know where our knees are and we are prepared to stick our heads between them and kiss our asses goodbye, if need be.
I think it would be hearsay if someone else told her that KKKarl had told them.
Since KKKarl told her directly it isn’t.
Is that right?
Holding my breath…
Start with the newspaper for office equipment sales, auctions… in this market you probably could find something reasonable…. I do understand what you mean…. my hard drive is going out and one is on order but I am doing daily backups to keep my data safe…
Damn skippy! so I guess she “hear’ed” him “say” it.
Nightline’s Jake Tapper continued his vacuous reporting, this time giving us an “expose” of the NYT McCain/Iseman story that never was. His every other phrase was snarky, empty innuendo; his implication being that was all there was to the Times story. What a waste of space is Mr. Tapper.

I don’t know a thing about this company, but wow, what prices!
I got a call about a temp project this morning. It started today, and then I taught my evening class. Just now getting caught up with the political news of the day.
As Senators Clinton and Obama prepared to debate in their state, Texans were marching in protest over the NAFTA superhighway known as the Trans-Texas Corridor, or I-69, the primary purpose of which is to speed the delivery of goods coming in from Mexico to proposed inland ports. The TTC is planned to span the state of Texas from Laredo, on the Mexican border, to Texarkana, on the border with Arkansas, to continue north to Canada. The projected cost is $183 billion over fifty years, with no American companies expressing interest in financing it.
There you go muddying up the waters…
cheat to be with-ers very often later turn into cheat on-ers. Yep, I think most people learn that somewhere around 17, 18, 19 or so.
that’s my understanding. not heresay if he said it to the person saying he said it
Hearsay? Scruggs ain’t gonna go down quietly…! Lott, his brother-in-law, won’t either…!
It’s really pretty crazy to have Obama and Clinton ”debating” each other. Debates are actually for people who have real differences of opinion, instead of artificial ones manufactured for the purposes of trying to draw false distinctions.
What we really need to see before the race is out is a debate between Clinton and McCain and another one between Obama and McCain. That would tell the real story. If the candidates really care about we the people, rather than their own personal ambitions, each of them should relentlessly press McCain for a debate. Probably he would resist, but it’s worth a shot.
hi Suzanne…
hey biodun
I am no laywer, trial or otherwise, but yes, that was my late night grumpy slightly a-hole way of saying just that.
good night friends.
Hopefully BEFORE the election!
g’nite tex – fingers and toes crossed that your nite is uneventful and all goes well at the doc in the morning
and, as always, pain free sleep wishes
Rest well and good thoughts going your way
Heresay, hearsay, schmearsay… let’s call the whole thing off!
Good night TB – wishing you pain-free sleep and good news from your AM appt.
Thanks for the monitor tips guys, I was only joking about how many I’ve ruined by spewing “wine without warning” all over the one I’ve got.
Why, Lott’s out, Rove’s out, but not down…! 8-(
thanks all.
i want to see a pic of suzanne with crossed toes.
Does anybody remember Bunnatine Greenhouse?
Good to know we speak the same language.
Goodnight, TexBetsy.
{{{TexBetsy}}}
Sweet dreams.
Doing right now just for you :)
i do
Mrs. Clinton’s finale in her debate tonight was a class act. The momentum is clearly Obama’s. But I hope she is either in his cabinet or remains a top leader in a Democratic Senate, which because of Cheney/Bush will have more to do than any Senate since the end of World War Two.
Creative suggestions for the fantasy of Hillary in an Obama cabinet? Attorney General? Or will they conspire and give us an Obama/Clinton ticket? Unlikely, that pairing or an Obama/Edwards pairing would bury the GOP candidate whether it’s St. John, the Huckster, or a Rovian dark horse foisted on a stuck convention, such as Jeb.
Did I hear Scruggs? How about with The Byrds?
That is a great observation. How about if a primary has an open primary or caucus, it should have an open debate. Put all them pols into one bucket and see who climbs out on top.
If we just had a couple of those, then the GOP would have zero even half-credible candidates right now.
But now, this empy husk self-betrayer McPain in the Ass, less jobs more war, is the corporate media appointed grwon up responsible daddy candidate.
Obama and HRC and Edwards would have torn the GOPers into tiny little humiliated shreds.
I meant to type:
How about if a STATE has an open primary or caucus, it should have an open debate.
Actually you are looking for the Acme Spew Alert computer shield that comes in various colors and sizes….. let me google that for you…
Hillary as VP – not much enthusiasm. Sec’y of Educatios mebbe?
G’nite, Betsy, call me if you have a flare up. I’ve got the phone by the bed…

and moisture triggered wipers.
Ironically, at my caucus, they were supposed to have two, three minute spiels for each candidate, prior to handing out our ballots. We seemed to have skipped it…! Hmmm…
Okay, Earl of H, how about this:
A Barack/Hillary ticket
John Edwards as AG.
Wes Clark as SecDef.
Bill Richardson as UN Ambassador.
Joe Biden as SecState.
Working on the rest.
Mebbe. Or Wes Clark. Or his wife. I like their views on early education.
Oh save me from the local media…… poor McBush…. poor baby…. that nasty LIBERAL pinko commie east coast dude newspaper… we BELIEVE the Senator because he said so…… we take his word….. OMG…
g’nite MrBeerBongFingers!
cereal malt bevs -another good idea.

Goodnight, wangdangdoodle!
Keith as Stud Muffin Secretary.
What a novel idea….. a huge solar power plant planned to be built in Arizona…. ya think they will generate some power?
OMG! Chevron bought the top ad at Kos.
its been there on and off for more than a year….. kos has posted about it…. it pays the bills so they can have the content..
whenever i see an ad ‘from the other side‘ so to speak here at the lake, i make sure i click on it a lot. those clicks = money to keep fdl going
It worries me a lot more about lapsed security for Obama in Dallas.
I’ve never seen it before. I check there frequently. I understand that it pays the bills, but seems kinda…wrong…
Yeah. There’s an AT&T ad here.
katymine, this isn’t Arizona…but check these solar plants out, if you’re interested.
yeap, i was forking livid when i heard about it.
and ya’ll know that i’m neutral and not supporting any candidate at this point but gee wiz, who was the forking fool who told them to stand down?
A Oh….this is not good
Hillary plagiarized her moving closing statement
does that mean she is moving more towards his progressive stance?
his being edwards.. sorry about that
sleep well betsy. wishing you a good night tonight and a good day tomorrow.
Ya know, if I was female or a gay male, I’d so try to Gannon Howard Dean’s Guckert, or Vicki his Iseman Trophy.
http://dailykos.com/storyonly/…../91/461637
I hope Howard stays the DNC Chair for many more years. He’s fantastic!
I think the post was about a dig of the xerox stuff…. it was stupid from the start and it makes her look more stupid…. I am in HRC prime demo… and it has been her that has made my decision since Edwards dropped out.
I really still hope for an Edwards VP pick…. but will get over it…
Obama would be a fabulous Supreme. ( Although that doesn’t seem to be what’s in the cards. ) But I can imagine the Obama Court as a legacy for future generations much more easily than I can imagine a wildly successful Obama presidency – not that I wouldn’t want that. I just think the Supreme Court would be a much better vehicle for somebody like Obama to create change. He has a lot of moral authority that I think would be difficult for other justices to resist, without enbarrassment. And he has a great mind. These may also be good qualities for a President. I’m afraid he lacks the grit it takes to be successful political leader – bur hope that fear proves to be unfounded.
Goodnight, all. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
Someone made a good analysis at Kos.
Sheila Jackson Lee said that Sen. Clinton ‘took us to the mountaintop’.
In invoking King she made the point that she has helped lead the way but will not make it to the ultimate destination for her, the Oval Office.
Made sense to me.
-G
Sorta would put Clarence in a bind.
good wang night dang dang.
he’s not interested.
Did you know that the elected Democratic President has a big part of who will be picked for DNC chair and not the DNC members. How Howard became elected was unusual. My fear with HRC being Prez is that Howard & his 50 state strategy will be thrown in the garbage. She is doing the old DLC campaign in 18 states and hope to win.
Oi, pups. I luvluvluv that song. But then again, Erykah is a fav of mine. Missed out on the debate threads and am in full cold/flu swing. how are you all this evening?
fixed
Did you catch it here like I did?
Nite all…. Elmore waves a weak good night too…. down with the flu… so that is where he caught it…. hmmm
IMHO, this was the pivotal comment, as commented by Blue Texan:
If Hillary had any fucking concept of what the job of president entails, if she had ever read the job description in the Constitution:
she would have known that ”My number one job as president will be to keep the American people safe” is a fucking Bushism and could have slammed him hard.
The fact of the matter is that both Democratic presidential candidates have drunk the Bush cool-aid. No, neither of them are the ass-hole that Bush is, but both have bought into his paradigms. He has changed the nation far more than Reagan did. Sigh!
g’nite rond d (and anyone else i missed while out helping token save a redwood tree)
g’nite katymine and elmore
IANAL but my read is that Section One is the primary job description and everything else is secondary to that
I would like to blame it on you all, you know get more sympathy points, but actually caught it from mr wobbs
boa noite katy and elmore
the lake always recommends that everyone use adequate safety precautions, such as virus protection (/s)
hope you and mr wobbs feel better soon
give me a break, the man is a constitutional law professor, don’t think he needs reminding on what his job is…..sheesh
thanks…he picked it up from the kids (he is an elementary school teacher) but got over it quickly. I hope I am just as fortunate, I’m a bad patient
That is why we need to keep watching and letting them know when they use “their” words…. I do that on a regular basis with candidates…. givem that Suzanne … thunk…… don’t ever say illegal immigrants ever again… its undocumented persons…. wash, rinse, repeat…
I condom that statement.
AND those clicks (if I understand the process) cost the bastards money!
I always click on right-wing ads I see on left wing sites.
Just able to shoot-up some toob-age and get caught up, and I’ve seen just three clips from the debate tonight. One had Hillary try some Xerox line, and she was booed…Loudly. Another compared her closing line to a Bill Clinton speech many years ago, and it’s even more exact than the Obama/Patrick lines. Wouldn’t really bother me, but looks extra silly given her ridiculous charges of plagiarism this last week.
The third one was this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG0PfADEbDs
Seems to me to be a dominating performance by Obama. Was there something I missed that showed Hillary doing better?
time for bed for this one. g’nite all.
you understand correctly :)
g’nite gw
I can not describe how disappointed I was in that answer from Obama. If only he could have clarified that he would provide that protection by PROTECTING AND DEFENDING THE CONSTITUTION!
On the other hand, I have been waiting for Obama to show me his inner ass-hat and now the waiting is finished.
I’m sure there is? I was asleep during the debates (we started the happy tea a little early tonight)
‘kay. Why?
Nope, there’s a prenup. The prenup separating their assets is how he got away scot-free after Charles Keating got Cindy and her dad to invest in a shopping center with him. The prenup supposedly meant St John had no conflict of interest.
Robert Bennett, St John’s current lawyer for the lady lobbyist mess, was the lawyer for the Senate Ethics Committee when the Keating mess went down against McCain. Funny, huh?
*rolling eyes*
oh, i did not know that teddy. thanks. so that means if she divorces him, he has nothing?
well. somebody has to take up the punaise slack. :)
condoms not condemns – mary, tis punworthy
If Punaise was here I would suggest this youtube
http://video.google.com/videop…..;plindex=1
But, alas, I do not see him about. Maybe he has the flu.
Sorry, but I scream at the TV everytime I hear that Bush’s job is “protecting Ameri-cuhns” from the evil “terrists”… …it is less offensive when Obama says it?
Why?
first of all I call bullshit on the comparison of shrub and obama and how just one line would evoke the same distaste? wth? he is a damn constitutional law professor and has stated many times about his role as prez so this jump on him because he says trots out the i-must-protect-the-american-people phrase is crap
Meanwhile in Northern Iraq:
Bakir said the regional government has tightened security at checkpoints, airports and hospitals to stop PKK movements, but that the Turkish military has continued its buildup. He called for the Iraqi central government and U.S. military to step in to stop what he called Turkey’s “abnormal movements.”
Heckuva job.
-G
So is John Yoo. Which make their Bushisms all that more egregious!
Yea, that’s like the difference between shopping at Tiffany’s and “Everything’s a Dollar” stores.
I think being a constitutional lawyer makes it a more offensive remark, not less. Our constitution is being shredded before our eyes, and this kind of remark does not help.
Freedom is risky.
You can not be completely secure and remain free.
The president’s JOB is to protect our freedoms, even if that means we accept a little risk. More specifically, it is to faithfully carry out the laws, and it is those LAWS that protect us.
This statement has not cost my vote, but it does earn his office an early morning irate phone call.
By the way, Suzanne is upstairs holding my new Zed for me. Come take a look.
so now Obama is John Woo? Give me a break! If this were a recurring theme of Obama’s, i would give it to you, but it’s not like we don’t know his position with regards to Habeus corpus etc. so this is just bullshit
Hi Suzanne! Not sure if he’d have nothing — there’s always Vicki I suppose.
Great song, thanks!
It’s not bullshit. It is taking exactly what he said in the context he said it. Maybe it helps the masses keep their pampers dry, but I think there are more important things to consider.
Damn right! Here we have the leading democratic presidential candidate, a professor of constitutional law and the university of Chicago, spouting flagrant Bush/Yoo-isms, and the other democratic candidate it too igornant to call him on that. What the fuck have we come to?
it’s a bullshit issue. If you have your reasons for not supporting him/supporting Hil so be it, but don’t manufacture fake outrage over what you think his words meant. Giving the context of the work he has done, it would contradict that he is anti constitution.
No, but he is blithering Bush/Yoo talking points, as he has been RNC talking points throughout this campaign.
I voted for him on super-tuesday, and will most likely have vote for him in November. But Amercica deserves a much better choice.
It’s not him vs Hill. Neither of them get it. America deserves a better choice than either of them.
So now he is channeling Yoo and Bush…wow i thought my meds were strong
g’night
Just to clarify….I cost a dollar.
I didn’t make it up. He said it: “My number one job as president will be to keep the American people safe.”
Big Brother himself! He has drunk the Bush kool-aid! And he has been channeling RNC talking points throughout the campaign. (I like it even less than you do.)
What I actually said was…
Criticism does not mean you don’t support someone. Criticism can ALSO mean you support them enough to correct them when they are wrong.
Dood!
But I seem to notice that there has been no criticism of Hillary just Obama. But you are entitled to your own opinions, but I’m not biting.
Neither Obama nor HRC are willing to take the risk that the sheeple haven’t really learned their lesson when it comes to the terror threat. They’re both intelligent enough to know what’s real and what’s nonsense. Unfortunately, however, part of what’s real is that the sheeple can be easily manipulated.
How about free, I have two, and one is relatively new, not used much, and I live in Oregon..it it helps. Probably won’t see this will post it tomorrow.
Speaking of Sen. Stevens…
On Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5:54 p.m. FDL published an article in the news box about Stevens announcing he is running for re-election. I posted the following comment:
One Response to “Stevens files for reelection”
neurophius February 21st, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Senator Stevens’s campaign for re-election is a political Bridge to Nowhere. This man has nothing to offer the voters of Alaska or the Senate of the United States. He is ethically bankrupt and long ago ceased to have any useful ideas about how to govern the country or any competence to assist in that process. He should attempt to salvage some semblence of personal honor and respect by stepping aside and allowing the democratic process to elect a Senator who has something positive and effective to offer Alaskans and the American people.

Is ET around?
